First, Part Ⅰ Classic JavaScript discusses the classic JavaScript, the popular component of all JavaScript programs and popular JavaScript. It covers a broad range of support topics, from dealing with embedded objects by default, through server communication via Ajax, to multimedia effects with SVG, Canvas, video and audio.

In Part II JavaScript, Lets Blow Everything, JavaScript breaks the boundaries of the browser, introduces new built-in objects, deals with new and interesting forms of data, and describes how to include complex frameworks . Here you can learn how to handle the mobile environment and integrate and develop various tools, rather than creating new ones.

A cookbook is useful... but there are many better books on javascript from O'Reilly. My favourite is Javascript Patterns. Javascript the definitive guide 6th ed is also a must have.

it is a good book , it makes know alot more about the ECMASript5 and it cover the contact points between the language and its environment(SVG , HTML , JQUERY ... ) .but this book is little bit outdated
