I write paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and other stuff. I taught myself to read when I was four. That was around the time I tried to ride my tricycle to work. I wasn't sure where work was, but I knew it had to be interesting if people went there every day. Now I combine my love of books with work, and I don't have to ride my tricycle to get there. My Elder Races series began May, 2011. You can also find me on Twitter and Facebook!

Early excerpt – Peanut’s POV -> so cute!!

Mommy carried him into his room. He thought things were going quite well until she set him down on the thick, soft rug in the middle of the floor.

No, that wasn’t what he wanted. That was very much not what he wanted.

He was tired again, and his mouth hurt, and he was hungry all of the time. Hungry for what, he didn’t know. Hungry, hungry.

So he scowled and concentrated mightily on something that he wanted.

And the world shifted.

He felt better. Quite a bit better, actually. His new mouth didn’t hurt at all, but he was still very hungry.

Mommy kept talking as she moved around his room. She pulled diapers out of drawers, set them on the changing table and turned to the closet. “…I want to take you to the beach and play in the sand with you, except I don’t know that we should. Are you too young to play in sand, or to go into salt water? Peanut, you are such a statistical outlier, half the time I have no idea what we should do with you.”

She turned away from the closet, her arms full of clothes. When she looked at him, she shrieked and dropped everything.

It startled him so badly he felt a burst of anxiety. He turned around to scoot backward toward her as fast as he could, but something flopped along his back, and his arms and legs weren’t working quite the way they had been earlier. He stopped, confused, and looked down at himself.

Slender white forelegs stretched to the floor. He picked up a front paw, staring at the talons. Then he looked over his shoulder and flexed sleek, graceful wings. A tail trailed the floor behind him. He reached for it with one forepaw and picked up the end. When he tugged at it, his butt wagged. The tail was attached to him.

Mommy knelt in front of him and cupped his face. He looked up into her eyes. She was teary and yet smiling. “You are the cleverest baby ever,” she said. “You’re so beautiful, and exactly how I first dreamed of you.”

Pleasure sleeked him down, and he smiled at her.

Her eyes went very round. Then she beamed at him. “That’s quite a mouthful of toofers you’ve got there, too.”

She gathered him up in her arms. He tucked his snout into the crook of her neck, and it was so good. It was almost everything he wanted, except….

He was so hungry.

He fussed and whined, and she sat on the floor and rocked him, while she dug her cell phone out of her pocket and moved her thumb rapidly over the keypad. “Dragos, you have to come home right now.”

Daddy’s sharp voice came over the phone. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong exactly, but Liam has changed and he’s upset.”

“What do you mean, he’s changed?”

“I mean he’s changed! He’s in his dragon form, and I can’t even tell you how beautiful he is. He’s also upset for some reason. Maybe it scared him? And you’re missing all of it. You need to come see this.”

“I’ll be right there.”

Mommy set the phone aside as Liam whined and plucked at her shirt. “Are you hungry?” she asked gently. He nodded. “I can’t nurse you when you’re like this, sweetheart, not with all of those razor sharp teeth.”

That was the saddest thing he had ever heard in his whole life. He lifted his head and looked at her, grief bleeding from his eyes.

“Oh Peanut, I’m so sorry. Please don’t look at me that way.” They considered each other desperately. Mommy’s expression turned firm. He folded his wings back and clung to her, as she rolled to her feet and carried him to the kitchen.

She opened the fridge door and pulled out a pan that had the something he was craving. It smelled oh, so good. He arched toward the pan, reaching with both front paws.

“Hold on—let me get the plastic wrap off first.”

She slid to the floor as he struggled to get to the contents in the pan. She snatched off the plastic wrap, set the pan on the kitchen tile, and he fell on the leftover sirloin roast. Eyes closed, his whole body tense, he focused on gorging on the meat.

Running footsteps sounded in the background, but it was only Daddy, so he ignored it. A moment later, Daddy said in a quiet voice, “Well, damn. Look at that. Hello, little man.”

A large, gentle hand came down on Liam’s back, between his wings, and contentment filled him.

“I didn’t know what else to do,” Pia said. “He acted like he was starving, and he has all those teeth. Then I remembered what you said about how he was going to need a lot of meat.”

“You did exactly what you should have,” said Daddy.

Liam finished off the roast. The hungriness had gone away, and his belly felt comfortably stretched and full. Sleepiness descended. Eyes drooping, he looked over his shoulder. Daddy and Mommy knelt on either side of him, both smiling.

He scooted backward toward Mommy. When she gathered him up, he turned to climb up her body until he lay draped along her shoulders.

“I’m telling you, this is just like my dreams,” Mommy said. She reached up to stroke his leg. He stopped listening to their conversation, tucked his snout in the neckline of her shirt and fell fast asleep.

Dragos and his family - STORY 1

I believe the blurb summarizes everything beautifully:

The Bermuda Triangle. Pirates. The Peanut. What could possibly go wrong?

Dragos, Pia and little Peanut/Liam will go for holidays. Finally!
Pia completely innocently (yeah sure)has brought a book about a missing treasure from the local library and Dragos as a dragon thirsty for treasures has decided to go and investigate where it was lost, i.e. somewhere inside the Bermuda Triangle of course.

"It's been a long time since I've found a good stash of treasure."
"I know."
"And you are wiser and far kinder than I deserve...And so damn sneaky."
"That's one of the things you love best about me."

A beautiful short novel about one of the most favourite PNR couples!

If you are a fan of Dragos, you really don't want to miss this novella! It is sooo good...it will make you laugh and cry tear up. I just loved every minute of it.

Dragos "thinks" he comes up with an idea to go on a quick family vacation. (You just gotta love how Pia came up with that one.) So off they go to Bermuda.

description

I just love the relationship between Dragos and Pia. The way TH has written the scenes lets you feel how strong their emotions are for each other...and how hot!! I think Pia needs to take Dragos dancing more often! ;)

My favorite scenes are the ones with Peanut. I LOVED getting his POV! He is so endearing and to read how much he loves his parents is so sweet. The lizard tail was a bit gross though!

description

The treasure plot was great in sooo many ways...and a bit disturbing. I loved reading how the dragon took care of business!

The epilogue...OMG, priceless! It was wonderful seeing how much Peanut is like Pia but to see how much he is like his Dad? loved it!!

description

Favorite quotes:

♥ “A dragon needs a healthy set of teeth.”

♥ “Really. Fifteen minutes.” His gold eyes narrowed suddenly. “Those books. That conversation. You little Machiavellian, you set me up.”

♥ “I sure love to dance.”

Dragos said, “No.”

She almost burst out laughing. Instead she raised her eyebrows pointedly. “Don’t you love to dance with me?”

♥ “Nobody threatens my family and lives.” The dragon’s deep voice rolled over the waves like thunder. “Nobody.”

♥ "These were the best toys ever.

Now both Mommy and Daddy were laughing as they watched him.

Daddy said, “I’m not sure either you or I own that treasure anymore.”

Thea Harrison delivers another awesome story of mythical beings that have touched our imagination and hearts.

Dragos Takes a Holiday (Elder Races, #6.5) is a quick and short read that grabs you from the start......

This is vacation time for Dragos, Pia and little Liam aka Peanut (he's totally beyond adorable!!!)
 photo images_zpswyvzmxxe.jpg
“Liam was starting to feel sorry for himself. It had been a strange and interesting day and he had learned a lot. He had flown! Well, a little bit, anyway. And lizard’s tails were delicious.
And what a vacation.

I adore Thea Harrison's Elder Races series so was so overjoyed to have the opportunity to read and review this book. This is book 6.5 in the series and in many ways goes back to the very beginning when we first met Dragos Cuelebre and his mate Pia. Their relationship has been a stormy one full of uncertainty and danger but in this novella they get to just escape from duty and relax on a brief holiday.
Well I would truly like to say that the couple together with their young son Liam- affectionately known as Peanut- just relax but this is a Thea Harrison novel so of course there's much more to it then that!
Pia has been concerned that Dragos is overworked and knows it would be good for all of them to spend chilled time together. She hatches a plot that will see Dragos deciding to take them away to Bermuda where he can indulge in his favourite pastime - Treasure Hunting! Knowing her dragon well she realises that he will enjoy the challenge and just being away will be beneficial to them all.
Arriving to discover the delights that await them the couple quickly encounter what could be pirates and the hunt is on! What could have been a romantic getaway quickly becomes more of a danger to their family then anything they've encountered before.
I absolutely loved this quick peek into the lives of Dragos , Pia and the Peanut! The author has cleverly included brief snapshots from the point of view of young Liam and it's hilairious reading! What this reader enjoyed was seeing how the Peanut is changing. He has always been written as an intelligent individual but in this book we get to see his mischievous side. Even though this is a short read Ms. Harrison still manages to incorporate heat between the two lead characters and as usual the quality of writing is a dream to read.
So in conclusion I found this to be a fabulous if short read. If a fan of the series you will love it and it just wets the appetite for the next full length book in the series.

This was a cute fun story... It kind of reminded me of the Incredibles & Jack Jack coming into his powers.

Pia finally gets Dragos to go on a vacation to Bermuda by placing treasure hunting books sporatically around their house & the lure for him is so great, he decides they need a vacation. During this time, baby Liam is coming into his powers & while it makes Pia proud & a nervous wreck, Dragos is extremely proud.

It was a cute quick read that expands on the story and points the series in another direction as well, explaining a possible move. Worth the read if you are following this series, but if not... It probably wouldn't be a good idea. Too much is based on the series.

Initial Thoughts: So what would a dragon do on vacation? Hunt for sunken treasure off the coast of Bermuda, of course. A fun little novella featuring Dragos and Pia on a much needed vacation along with the little peanut.

The Review:
For fans of Thea Harrison's Elder Races series, this short little novella offers the reader a glimpse into Pia and Dragos' happily ever after. Yes, I'm a sucker for that sort of thing and these two are one of my favorite paranormal romance couples, so given the opportunity to share in their happiness, I'll grab it. The story takes place three months after the birth of their little peanut, Liam. Dragos has got to be the cutest dad and Pia is a loving mom. Little Liam is so sweet as well.

The thing about this series is the strength of the women. Sure, the men are these big brawny alpha males but the women make the man (and the decisions, ha!). Pia decides that Dragos needs a vacation from his responsibilities and in the sneakiest way possible, she leaves all sorts of library books about sunken treasure all over the apartment. The Dragon side of Dragos can not resist and soon Pia, Dragos, and Liam are off to a Bermuda vacation, along with Eva and Hugh.

The thing about sunken treasure is that there are always other interested parties involved. Soon, a problem arises. I didn't really get a danger vibe from these villains. They kind of were just there, not really a threat to big, bad Dragos. What I loved was that the little peanut came into some of his powers (I'm sure that there will be more) and he was majestic (as well as cute).

In any case, no Elder Races book would be complete without some sexy times with our lovely main characters. These two still manage to sizzle, despite having a newborn around.

Dragos Takes a Holiday was a fun paranormal romance read. This is the ideal winter vacation on the beach read. The Elder Races are always a fun read for me. I'd recommend that the series be read in order.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy of this book.

I loved this little visit with Dragos, Pia, and Liam.

We get a lovely passion still burning between Dragos and his mate. I adore little ones and little shifters are always fun.

Married life, a vacation, and a treasure hunt. Good stuff.

The action at the end is a bit rushed but mainly a yummy bite of a book.

Dragos taking time off for a holiday?
Yep, and with anything Pia and Dragos do nothing is ever as easy as it sounds.
Add to the mix sunken treasure and Pirates, and Pia and Dragos have a vacation adventure I don't think they'll soon forget.

I really enjoyed reading this short, action pact story. It was wonderful spending time with Pia, Dragos and of course Liam fondly known as the 'The Peanut'.
Liam is growing much faster than other Wyr babies, and as some of his Wyr 'gifts' are starting to become apparent, Pia and Dragos don't quite know what to expect from their adoring child.
With the demanding job of being head of Cuelebre Enterprises and the Wyr demense, Dragos and Pia haven't had much time to just be together as mates and as a family. This vacation is something they both want and desperately need. Pia sweetens the pot by laying hints of a sunken treasure, something she knows will spark Dragos curiosity and attention.

Pia and Dragos also have Eve and Hugh to come along as bodyguards/babysitters so that they can spend some much needed time alone together away from the "hustle and bustle" of work and the city.

One of my favorite parts/quotes in this story is after Pia and Dragos have gone out for dinner and dancing. The sexual tension between the two of them is on overload as they dance... to the point where Dragos
grabs Pia's hand and drags her out of the club.

 photo http3A2F2F31.media.tumblr.com2F09c72a2d2b85fc0c5c022a191ceb1e612Ftumblr_mymiklYVhF1sq5h9ho1_1280.jpg

By this point the 'primal mated dragon' has taken over Dragos and all he can think to do is claim his mate... and so he does.

Dragos cloaks them and picks Pia up and starts running to a secluded area on the beach where he can't wait any longer for her.

 photo love7.gif

.. a little while later

"I think I might be able to drive now," he said,
She snickered. "Are you sure?"
He smiled into her neck. "Pretty sure. When we reached the car earlier, all I could think was: Key. Ignition. Stick shift. Wheel. And then: No."
She laughed harder. "When you picked me up, all I could think of was: Yay!"

"Sometimes the single-syllable conversations are the most important ones."

Enjoy! :)

2.5 stars - Spoilers

-This was kind of entertaining but also kind of blah. The plot was simple and rather predictable, there was nothing interesting or surprising that happened. The bad guys were evul and stupid, the good guys took them on and won, the romance was cheesy, and everything was exactly what was expected of a typical PNR novella.

-What's what: Pia and Dragos decide to take a break from their busy schedule, and go on holiday with Liam. Naturally, they do some treasure hunting, smex it up, and run into some bad guys.

-I'm not really a fan of Pia and Dragos, they're both quite cliched and insufferable, but this time around they didn't annoy me quite as much they usually do. Pia and Dragos were actually quite sweet at times… Their perfect relationship did get a bit boring though. And their personalities were quite dull, and they were as predictable as always, and a tad too MarySue/MartyStu-ish. But at least they didn't irritate me in this one.

-It was kind of cute reading all the scenes with Pia/Dragos looking after Liam.

-I rolled my eyes at Liam being a speshul little snowflake. He's only a few months old and he already has powers, and he can fly, and he understands his parents perfectly. It was a bit too much.
I hope Liam doesn't appear in future novels, I did sort of like him in this but yea, I don't really want to read any more of his Gary-Stu-all-powerful-speshul-snowflake-cutesy personality.

-I did like that this novella was about prominent characters from the series instead of like past novellas focusing on new characters or minor characters that no-one cares about.

-Not the best novella I've read but also not the worst.

Favorite Quote: “You sure you weren’t too clever for him? Don’t get me wrong, I know he’s bright [...] but he is still just a man.”

Dragos Cuelebre desperately needs a vacation. After losing two of his staff to love, he has been working non stop. His mate decides to take matters into her own hands by leaving clues to a treasure hunt and soon he, Pia, and the peanut are heading towards the Bermuda Triangle for sun, sand, and treasure hunting. But nothing is ever easy for the King of the Wyrs. Between the peanut’s rapidly expanding powers and certain people who don’t want the treasure found…this vacation is turning into more work than imagined.

I adore Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series, especially when she devotes the storyline to Dragos Cuelebre. Drago’s Takes A Holiday is a fun filled sexy adventure with lots of passion, action, and humor as Dragos and the family try to catch some downtime after an exhausting year. I adore that Liam (the peanut) is an active participant in the story. Readers have waited a long time to see Drago’s interact with his son and the wait has been worth it. Some steamy sexy times, pirate sightings, and clues to series direction make this a must read addition to the series.

RATING: B+

When I think back on Dragos Takes a Holiday there a few words that immediate come to mind...

ADORABLE
CUTE
SWEET
TENDER
STEAMY

Adorable, Cute and Sweet all are on account of the Peanut. OMG, what an amazing character. I can't wait to see where Harrison goes with this incredible Dragon/Unicorn Hybrid. He stole the show and is such an endearing character you can't help but love him. It was also extremely sweet watching Pia and Dragos coming to terms with the extraordinary abilities this new born is exhibiting.

Sweet, tender and steamy are also accurately describe Pia and Dragos relationship. Even after a rocky transition, the loss of key guards, a baby and being mated Pia and Dragos still stand strong...maybe even stronger. They know each other completely, can anticipate each other's needs and support each other 100%. Things are still changing but this amazing couple stands strong. Boy, do they still hold true to the romance and sexual steam...keep a fire extinguisher handy.

Dragos Takes a Holiday is a must read for every Elder Race fan.

I received this ARC copy of Dragos Takes a Holiday from Thea Harrison in exchange for an honest review. This book is set for publication November 25, 2013.

Awww this was delightful.A short read of the family vacation that turned into a treasure hunt, sprokled with a kidnapping and rounded off with a dragon kicking butt and a treasure find! The relationship between Dragos and Pia continues to be a beautiful thing , literally saturated with love. Liam is a sweetheart and his POV is adorable. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable little read.

Pia, the Peanut, and Dragos...how could you go wrong? Every short story in this series is excellent. I don't know how a newbie to the series would perceive this book but as a big fan, I loved it. I look forward to seeing more of the Peanut in future books. *fingers crossed*

This novella will be a real treat for Pia and Dragos fans. It’s a little slice of life, set just after Kinked, that gives us a look at the family dynamic since the birth of the Peanut.

Basically, the story follows Pia’s plan to take a family vacation. She entices Dragos with the idea of searching for sunken treasure –and before you know it, they are on holiday in Bermuda. There’s a little plot about the treasure and some nefarious fortune hunters thrown in there, but at its core, this is a story about the Cuelebre family; about the relationship between Pia and Dragos; and about the emerging personality of their son.

It’s sweet to see how the mighty Dragos loves his baby. And despite becoming parents, there is still a notably sexy vibe between him and Pia. But my favorite parts were probably those told from baby Liam’s POV. It’s different and fun.

This isn’t standard Elder Races, obviously, in the sense that it’s not a story about falling in love (or lust.) And though there is sex, it’s not sexually driven. There are diapers and breast feeding along with the blow jobs and sex on the beach. It’s a story about contentment, and following this couple into a different phase of life. A nice follow up to their love story.

LOVED THIS LIL GEM of a book!!! Oh who am I kidding, I love it anytime I can get me some Pia and Dragos and of course the talented and growing like a week (or a baby dragon) The Peanut! Funny as Dragos and Pia get away from NY on a long weekend, they think that they are just going to have a nice, relaxing weekend and do a little playing on the beach and some treasure hunting. Instead they end up tangling with bad guys and find out that their lil peanut is quite the escape artist. Can't wait for the next book is this wonderful series.

I really wanted to love this little slice of Dragos and Pia's HEA, but it was just too something and ended up being cute but more on the Okay side. The redeeming parts of the story were the bits with Peanut, boy is the little dragonlet going to be a handful as he grows.

In the "Nits Category" - I really didn't like the cover for this one. This guy is too creepy looking and wimpy to be Dragos...

I love Dragos and Pia. Dragon Bound is one of my most re-read books of all time. When I heard Thea Harrison was releasing a Dragos and Pia novella I was thrilled. I'm happy to report this was an excellent novella. I didn't think it was possible to love Dragos more than I already did, but he was awesome in this book. The page count is short but it was definitely worth a read.
