#5 in the new series of Sherlock and Lucy Mystery Short Stories!
When a gullible woman comes to Lucy for help in Victorian London, no one foresees that an old enemy will be watching the Baker Street team.
And no one is prepared when the old enemy strikes back.
Part 2 of a two-part "season finale."Lucy James and Dr. Watson take turns with the narrative viewpoints in this story.
The Sherlock and Lucy adventures combine gripping intrigue with classic Holmes. If you like cozy mysteries, historical mysteries, or historical fiction, you'll love this series.
Anna Elliott is an author of historical fiction and fantasy. She enjoys stories about strong women, and loves exploring the multitude of ways women can find their unique strengths. She was delighted to lend a hand with the Sherlock & Lucy series, and thrilled to continue a new spin-off series featuring Becky and Flynn. Her first series, the Twilight of Avalon trilogy, is a retelling of the Trystan & Isolde legend. She wrote her second series, The Pride & Prejudice Chronicles , chiefly to satisfy her own curiosity about what might have happened to Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and all the other wonderful cast of characters after the official end of Jane Austen’s classic work.
This book, another short story, is a continuation of the previous book, The Sons of Helios, but it does not finish the story either. In a future story, this mystery will continue. It keeps me reading the series!
These Holmes and Lucy stories are pleasant distraction, but I truly prefer the length tier books. But write faster,I need these books to feed my appetite!
As indicated in the blurb, "The Vanishing Medium" is part two of the 'season finale' for the short story series. I trust that you have already finished reading "The Sons of Helios."
Once again, Dr. John Watson and Lucy James provide their own points of view in this tale. You will no doubt recognize the Holmesian method of navigating the twists and turns that involve murder and the monied of London's elite. The ending here is a bit of a surprise.
I am hoping (or at least guessing) that there will be more stories about the latest nemesis of Holmes and company… perhaps a novel, or even a continuation of the short story series.
If you grew up reading Sherlock Holmes, you will certainly want to add these books to your library.
A much better read although still disappointed that Holmes and the rest haven't yet got to the mastermind. A fake medium, a new will and a possible threat to the life of an elderly woman. Lucy is asked by the sister (see previous book) to investigate a medium that has developed a hold over her elderly aunt. An aunt that is found dead when Holmes and Watson go to see her and the only previous visitor was the medium. Can they work out what happened? A dead body in the river, the arrest of our two runaways and a shooting. Who will remain alive at the end?
This is another fast read that does answer the questions from the last book. Shepherd sons sister asks for help as her aunt is falling under the control of a fortune teller. They dig into the mystery which becomes a murder and a very surprise ending. I look forward to reading the next book
Lucy James investigates on behalf of Miss Shepperton (of Sons of Helios short story) the medium Madame Yolanda. Miss Shepperton now lives with her wealthy Aunt in Mulberry Walk, Hampstead. She believes that the medium intends to defraud her aunt. An enjoyable well-written short story.
Anna and Charles keep cranking out quality Sherlock Holmes and Lucy mysteries. The Vanishing Medium did disappoint. Murder and twists that keep you surprised throughout. I’m a fan!
An interesting one involving a Medium who wasn't and a death that has to be solved. Part of a bigger pictures regarding the Son of Helios- see other short stories involving the Son of Helios...
Very good, as all these books are, but the obviously typo referring to the late Mrs Trent as Miss Bramwell was jarring enough to turn my rating from a 4 to a 3
