David Abraham Adler is an American children's author. He was born in New York City, New York in 1947. He graduated from Queens College in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in economics and education. For the next nine years, he worked as a mathematics teacher for the New York City Board of Education, while taking classes towards a master's degree in marketing, a degree he was awarded by New York University in 1971. In that same year, a question from his then-three-year-old nephew inspired Adler to write his first story, A Little at a Time, subsequently published by Random House in 1976. Adler's next project, a series of math books, drew on his experience as a math teacher. In 1977, he created his most famous character, Cam Jansen, originally featured in Cam Jansen and the Mystery of the Stolen Diamonds, which was published that year.

Adler married psychologist Renee Hamada in 1973, and their first child, Michael, was born in 1977. By that time Adler had taken a break from teaching and, while his wife continued her work, he stayed home, took care of Michael, and began a full-time writing career.

Adler's son, Michael S. Adler, is now the co-author of several books with his father, including A Picture Book of Sam Adams, A Picture Book of John Hancock, and A Picture Book of James and Dolly Madison. Another son, Edward, was the inspiration for Adler's Andy Russell series, with the events described in the series loosely based on adventures the Adler family had with Edward's enthusiasm and his pets.

As of November 2008, Adler has three sons and two grandsons. He lives in Woodmere, New York.

A Picture Book of Paul Revere (Picture Book Biography) by David A. Adler, S. Adler, - Children’s Illustrated Colour Picture Book- The Book narrates the story of Paul Revere (1735 - 1818) was an American silversmith, engraver, early industrialist, Member, Sons of Liberty and Patriot in the American Revolution. At the age of 13- years, Paul left school and became an apprentice to his father. The silversmith trade afforded him connections with a cross-section of Boston society, which would serve him well when he became active in the American Revolution. In 1750, aged 15, Revere was part of the first group of change ringers to ring the new bells at Christ Church, in the north of Boston. The silversmith trade afforded him connections with a cross-section of Boston society, which would serve him well when he became active in the American Revolution. Paul is best known for his midnight ride to alert the colonial militia in April 1775 to the approach of British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, as dramatized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's 1861 poem, "Paul Revere's Ride". At age 41, Revere was a prosperous, established and prominent Boston silversmith. He had helped organize an intelligence and alarm system to keep watch on the British military. Revere later served as a Massachusetts militia officer. Following the war, Revere returned to his silversmith trade. He used the profits from his expanding business to finance his work in iron casting, bronze bell and cannon casting, and the forging of copper bolts and spikes. In 1800, he became the first American to successfully roll copper into sheets for use as sheathing on naval vessels. Coloured pictures help the reader to relate to the story. I have read the Hindi language translation of this book.

This would be an easy yet informative read for Elementary aged children. This book would be ideal for an introduction to the French and Indian Wars and the American Revolution War. It goes in chronological order and states the dates which will help children create a timeline of the events to understand Paul Revere's life and all of the occurrences of the wars. 7 of the illustrations show guns and death, but they are not gory illustrations and would be suitable for kids. In the back of the book is a helpful timeline of all the important dates mentioned in the book.

This picture book states the life of a man named Paul Revere. He was one of nine children and grew up with his family in Colonial Boston. When Paul was thirteen he left school to work in his father’s silversmith shop, but when his dad passed away Paul must take over the business and support his mother and siblings at only nineteen years old. The friendly illustrations help young readers see the life of an American patriot. Paul Revere fought in minor battles in the Massachusetts regiment, was involved in politics, participated in the Boston Tea Party, and rode to Lexington, Massachusetts to deliver the news that the British were coming. This is a good biography that can be used as a reliable source for children learning history.

This is a biography based on Paul Revere. It begins with a brief background on Paul Revere, how he left school at thirteen, how he fought in different wars, and how he had sixteen children.

This biography could be used as an introductory source to the French and Indian Wars, the Sons Of Liberty, the Stamp Act, the Townshend Acts, the Boston Massacre, The Boston Tea Party, the Revolutionary War, the Second Continental Congress, the Declaration of Independence, and the Treaty of Paris.

Another nice addition to David Adler's picture book biographies for children. Includes an informative easy to follow story line, additional authors note and a time line; making this a good read for grade school kids when learning about the American Revolution or just for fun.
