I survived my first semester at the Academy of Unpredictable Magic. Apparently, the universe took that as a challenge…
For years, Unpredictables have been brushed aside by the rest of the magical community. Now people are starting to pay attention—and I’m not entirely sure that’s a good thing.
I’ve always been content to fly under the radar, but now that we’ve been invited to participate in the Inter-academy Trials, the entire school will be in the spotlight.
As if trying to sort out my feelings for the four insanely gorgeous men who all want to date me wasn’t enough, now I’m juggling magical games, deadly plots, unexpected allies, and notoriety I never asked for.
All right, second semester. Do your worst.
Trials is the second book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series, a medium-burn reverse harem story intended for ages 18+, featuring a badass chick and the four sexy men who fall in love with her.
1. So incredibly better than the first book; 2. Blowjobs.
But to be honest I am just waiting for her father to be the Big Bad.
Trials was so much fun. It wasn't original by a long way, Elliot might even have been a bit annoying always doubting her strength and struggling far more than she should, but I just adore her. She is smart, she is independent, she is funny and she's empowering; I love her sexual freedom.
Elliot has a lot of walls around her heart but she never question or doubt what she wants, she gives as much as she receives and doesn't go on and on with self slut shaming. She is also a very caring person at heart, not only towards her sister, and we are starting to see more of this side of hers. She doesn't really associate with her fellow Unpredictable comrades but she shows deep concern for their well being and we are watching grow up as a real Champion that will take a stand for the "freaks" of the magical society.
I need more and I need to know what her new power will be. And fuck, always more RomanxElliot.
I just can't go through book one again. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, assuming she would give up the, "I am a loner and everyone I love eventually leaves me so I can't get involved with these guys. But maybe being a loner isn't the right thing. Ok, I'm going to give them a try." Back and forth for one book, ok fine, annoying but fine. Two+ books of that is a no from me.
Heroine 22yrs old, more like reading about a 16yr old
Good storyline poor execution. I read the first book giving 3 stars but no review, and knowing me I do that when I'm very on the fence about something, I read this book forgetting entirely what this story was all about but I was determined to remember as some of it came back I couldn't help be put out with our heroine and her mental berating. This is a women, 22 yrs old who had raised a sibling! She worked hard for a good life for her sister and was a tough take no shit bartender, so where did that chick go? I felt like I was reading about a 16 yr old child the way she thought, and acted, it was really that bad. What if I can't do it", what if I let everyone down" what if I'm incompetent? " what if I embarrass the school's what if I embarrass the guys. This is how it is throughout the entire book I kidd you not. Then there's the I like the guy's but I can't get attached cause everyone I care about one way or another leaves, " oh everyone says I'm leading them on! But I'm not" I just can't give the more? This storyline was really catching so I found myself skipping her mental struggles and her sex scenes because I didn't really feel the connections to be honest, I just wanted the juicy story, and there wasn't much sadly. I also hated how she only tried to better herself for the school, for what they think of how she'll make them look instead for herself, she's easily goaded and I didn't expect that from a grown women.
I quite enjoyed this book. The trials set out were interesting; although, I do think the final trial was extremely Harry Potterish. I liked how Eliot began letting people in, and how she actually began really caring about all the guys. I still don't have a favourite, which is unusual for me. The ending was a real cliff hanger and I can't wait for the next book.
3 1/2 stars. I can't seem to get over the lack of character building and wtf is up with the time line. We go from week to week in a flash but nothing changes with the MC's. There are to many holes in the story it's annoying. That being said I enjoy the story line and will continue to the next book to find out what happens next.
This is an amazing series. Second book is even better than first. I literally couldn't put it down. It was incredible. I'm in love with this series. Starting on third book now. Hope it doesn't disappoint me!!!
Trials is the second book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic by author Sadie Moss. I really enjoyed the first book, and I was eager to continue on in the series. I made a mention that the first book reminded me of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and if the first book was the Chamber of Secrets, this book was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, with their own version of the triwizard tournament coming to the Griffin Academy. They even made a goblet of fire reference in the book when they were describing the tournament. I loved that! :)
In trials we start to see Elliot come into her power and into herself. Though I still think she has a ton of secrets left to discover, even secrets about herself. Trials was a fun read. I am really enjoying this world, and all of the guys. I hate that Elliot gives Dimitri such a hard time. I really like him and I think he is a secret sweetheart!
If you like academy reverse harem romances, this is one that you will enjoy.
Another great book added to this series! I need book 3 NOW though! That ending about killed me but it made this book mean so much more to me.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this series but it has taken me by surprise that's for sure. I love all these guys and different characters throughout. The chemistry is off the charts and I have a feeling it's only going to get better! If you like a good PRH then you have to give this a try. So so bittersweet with 4 amazing guys and one strong, awesome, sassy, bad*$$ chick!
I was getting really annoyed and frustrated with Elliot's whole poor me attitude. She's in her 20s and raised her sister. She was tough and worked hard. Now that she's in the Academy, she's doubting everything. She has zero confidence in herself. I'll let everyone down. I'll let the school down. I can't do it. I'll let my guys down. on and on and on. I'm over it. I did appreciate she wasn't mentally slut shaming herself and was sex positive.
The storyline was enjoyable, though quite Goblet of Fire Potter-ish
Trials by Sadie Moss is a medium-burn paranormal academy reverse harem romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett. This is the second book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Sadie always does a great job pulling me into the story. I really enjoyed the inter-academy trials that Elliot had to participate it. I was hooked and couldn't wait to see what she would be put through next.
I really enjoyed the relationship blooming between Elliot, Cam, Asher, Roman, and Dimitri. I love that Elliot may have four men in her life but they support her and let her be the strong independent woman that she is.
I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Thief so I can get more of Elliot and her men's story.
Sarah did an amazing job on the narration! I love that she uses different voices/tones for each character. It really brings the story to life.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romances, academy romances, or reverse harems.
Series is getting a little crazy with an unknown villain announcing to the magic community he’s trying to kill unpredictables and get rid of them altogether. Everything in the end is a literal war-zone and everyone is losing their shit. Students are fighting one another which already is a big issue- but how do u overcome something like this? It’s like racism for humans, ppl hate and fear unpredictables for absolutely no reason so they treat them like shit and now apparently want them gone because they're different or they view themselves as superior smh. There's a minor cliffhanger for the end but what was really shocking is how the overall theme of the book definitely had some Harry Potter Goblet of Fire parallels that made for a fun challenge as the author adapted parts of it to this story. I'm getting the feeling like the author is trying to gear the book away from the overall relationship and focus more on the plot but it's only book two so we'll see. I mean it’s just odd that we’ve had drawn out sex scenes with her and Roman but all the other guys either are still waiting to pass some bases as the scene fades away or interruptions occur. Poor guys lol So far so good and the audios are super quick reads-easy to let reality disappear.
This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Sadie Moss!
Trials is the second book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic and continues the story of Elliot and her four men.
Trials was yet again another amazing book by Sadie Moss. I just love the way Sadie Moss creates this world with amazing characters. All of her books are fast paced, well written and just the right amount of romance and action.
The relationship between Elliot and her men has developed in Trials and it left me on the edge of my seat. I was constantly waiting for her or the men to make a move and I loved it. Now there’s still one guy I want to see in action but I guess I’ll see him in the next book.
I also think that we got to see a more vulnerable side of Elliot and of Dmitri and I really liked that. I cannot pick a favourite because I love all 4 four men but let me tell you that I’m the most intrigued by Dimitri. I still don’t know his story and I’m excited to find it out!
Trials was an amazing sequel and I cannot wait to read the third book, Thief!
First and foremost the extra star is for the sex scenes in the book because they’re pretty incredible.
Now that’s out of the way the book is a good 2 stars. It’s not even the plot like I’ve stated many times before character development and advancement is so crucial. I have to be able to care about the MC otherwise it’s a dealbreaker for me.
The MC constantly doubts herself; in the first book I get it. You’re a new magic user and out of your element. But now in the second book where’s the character growth? And she constantly complains “I’m not good enough” “I’ll let everyone down!” Geez give me a break.
Let’s not even start on the five way relationship (sorry figuring it out process) You have four men that told you they don’t mind sharing but yet and still you’re saying you don’t know, but you’ve already kissed or had sex with almost all of them. That doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense.
Ok I'll say again that I love that Elliot knows how and when to accept help. That is one of the things keeping me reading this series because it's not often done in these RH books...or hell any book. What does bug me are the pages and pages I kept skipping because she was in her head a lot about what her relationship should be with her beaus. And how "She just can't love them". That just irritates me.
Elliot is still trying to get a hold on her magic, but when the Trials come up, she ends up becoming the one to compete and someone is trying to hurt her. She and guys must figure it out before the whole school is looked down upon, but this may end up killing her for real this time.
This was another good one in this series. I'm really about fed up with Dmitri though, and I have a feeling he's just going to get worse.
Not much has changed in this book. I feel like I’m being told about things happening instead of being able to experience it myself with the characters. I still feel like the three boys act like high school teenagers, and I still think there are far too many time skips.
I’m unable to become invested in this story because the writing wont allow me too.
I can't explain it but more than once this book gave me goosebumps. It was fantastic. There's was so much intensity throughout the book, be it the chemistry between Elliot and her men, the trials of the games, or the fight at the end. I loved this book!
Book: Academy of unpredictable Magic Book 2 Trails Author: Sadie Moss Recommend: Yes Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ Age recommendation: 16-30+ Years
Plot: Elliot continues on her relationship with Roman, and starts to develop more feelings towards Cam, Dmitri and Asher. This semester her school is hosting the games between all the other school. This is the first year their academy is allowed to attend. After they go though some trials, Elliot wins and gets to be the head of the school int he games. She passes the first trial but loses the next few. Her relationship with the men starts to heat up more and Dmitri starts to show s little bit more affection towards her, but is still Mean to her most of the time. Elliot manages to win the last trial and wins the games, but Johnson declares she isn’t the winner and all hell breaks lose. All the school go into a riot and start fighting each other. Elliot is nearly killed but manages to survive.
My feelings:
Sadie Moss has done it again, I love her books. They manage to always keep me so engaged. This book had just enough spice for me, and just enough action to keep me interested to know more. I cannot wait till she full hooks up with them all.
Dmitri is still being hard to reach, closed off and not tell Elliot how he really feels.
“You think I hate you, Princess?” Dmitri murmurs, his gaze hot and dark as it slides down my body. “Then you really don’t know me at all.”
Roman is 100% in, but still her teacher and needs to be on the sidelines till she isn’t his student. Cam is so open and so in with her. I think he might say the L word first! Asher is so beautiful and romantic, I cannot wait to see how he develops.
Im keen to see how they relationship develops as time goes on, I want to see how they end up together in the end. How dm opens up and how the manage there harem.
This series is a great read for younger readers and people entering into the world of reverse harem and don’t want to start out too strong.
”We’re all here because we care about her. And if that’s the case, then everything else is just white noise. I’ll keep vigil by her bedside for as long as I need to, and I know even without asking that the other three will do the same. We need our girl back.”

Like Harry Potter's Triwizard Tournament, the Unpredicatable Magic School will be hosting 7 trials between eight magical schools to determine the best student.
Elle competes in this tournament, as a representative of her school, and realizes there are plays against her, or the Unpredictables specifically. Who is the mastermind behind this hostile organization?
Really fun seeing Elle's potential as she develops her powers.
I wanted the story to pick up the pace, sadly, this doesn't happen. The beginning of the book is a HUGE recap of the previous book, which I thought was completely unnecessary, and the rest is just Elliot commiserating about falling in love or not. I felt like she was constantly playing: love me, love me not with the guys. It was annoying. And I didn't find the plot of the trials interesting... It's just so obvious Elliot would win. The only thing I liked here was the ass-wiping Elliot gave Alyssa. Sadly I won't be moving forward with this series...
DNF 85% I was hoping for more character development for the men, but they're there only to have sex with the heroine. I don't mind this so much if the story is interesting enough, but It is mostly about the heroine going trough tests and staying in the competition, nothing more.
Still enjoyed as much as the first! She’s finally embarrassing in the attention. I’m not really reading for the plot too much and just entertainment. Though her “I’m a loner” and “I can’t trust anyone” act is getting old. Hoping she gains some character development in book three.
