I had to stop reading after the first non-blog post sentence: “I attached a photo of Bodhi and I posing proudly in front of the completed house.” If both the author and the editor don’t understand that should be “a photo of Bodhi and me,” I do not want to subject myself to the rest of it.

The story was good, great actually. Why 2 stars? The ending was horrible and really irritating. After the first 2 books the end totally blew it.

I absolutely loved this. It took a little bit to get into but then I was howling at parts, like when the ghost hits him with the pillow 🤣🤣

Not at all what I was expecting, more murder mystery than ghost story, but ok. Got some mush and started with some serious moaning about being ignored by what turned out on be crap hubby instead of oblivious crush as I originally thought. Some of the reveals weren’t too shocking, but what they did with em was fun.

What a slog. When I got to around 80% I just started quickly scanning through the pages. I so didn't care by that time and just wanted it to be over! Way too long, and turning boring. Sorry. The extra star is because this person actually wrote a book and kudos for that (and some parts were okay), something I could never do. However, I won't be reading anything else. And the ending was so ridiculous. I love ghost stories, but this was a disappointment.
(As an aside, the writer needs a good editor for the glaring grammatical mistakes.)

Okay, so this book really had me in the feels. I was nervous, I was excited, I was grossed out, and I was feelin warm and fuzzy inside.
Out of the three, this one was definitely the least believable. I'm not a huge fan of It is just to far fetched to me. But I can forgive that in the story, and enjoy the ending.
I also didn't feel much closure, like the town just found out about the truth, and basically wiped all memory of the person who killed the kids away. I like the fact they shunned everything about the killer, and took away all of their legacy but it just didn't seem really closed. There was no part where the whole town found out and were shocked, angry, and mourned. The author just rushed it in the end, everyone found out the truth, there was a story published in the local journal, and they all lived happily ever after.
I'm not a huge fan of happily ever after's. I did think Winn & the new baby girl was a cute touch.
I guess this one was just very simple, and wrapped everything up, so no real mystery here.
There was only one gruesome part in this one that I found utterly disturbing. The bags. The garbage bags. SO, so, so gross.
So yeah overall, the trilogy (which really felt like a book split into three parts) was interesting. Parts were a bit cliché but I'm happy I read it, and happy that everything turned out well.

Great ending
The last book in series was creative and Ethan Powell got what he deserved. I really liked Patrick's ghost and realizing that he was Milo all along made so much sense.

I stumbled upon the 75 book series "A Riveting Haunted House Mystery Series" on Amazon, the second of which is The Haunting of Winchester Mansion. At first, I wasn't too sure about reading these books, because I will admit, spooky stories can keep me up at night, however I am glad that I did come upon this series & can't wait to read the rest!
The Haunting of Winchester Mansion was a 4 star read for me (see my rating system below).
Genre: Mystery/Thriller/Paranormal
Setting: This book has a cozy small town vibe, with eeriness scattered in. It is set in modern times.
Plot: Bodhi and Bailey are a married couple who have had some tragedy in their life. They attempt to forget their tragedy by steaming full force ahead with their nomadic lifestyle and house flipping craft, and their latest adventure lands them in Black Bay. Here they make friends with the locals while starting on their newest house flipping adventure... but soon, mysterious happenings occur in the house and it becomes obvious they are not alone. The only question is, are they in danger? And what do the unexpected "guests" want out of Bodhi and Bailey?
Overall Thoughts: This book was spooky, but not to the point that it kept me up at night. This was a nice happy medium. The authors writing was easy for me to read and follow, and even though I probably should have seen the twist coming long before I did, I did not. At first, the plot seems a little slow, but it really is setting up small things that need to happen before everything else can take place. Once I did think I saw the twist up ahead, it was quickly confirmed, and then the book was fast paced from there. Even though I guessed the twist before it happened, I still enjoyed it. In the end, the true villian got what was coming to them. I also enjoyed the small epilogue that wrapped things up for me and didn't leave me wondering what happened to Bodhi and Bailey after.
All in all, this was a great book! I would definitely recommend it to my friends who want a spooky story, but nothing that is going to keep them up at night.

After that cliffhanger from book 1, I am glad there was a satisfying ending to it.
I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I figured out who the villain was since book 1. I don't know if I was happy to know I was correct or not by the end of the book, tho. Did I maybe want to be wrong and have a better twist? Or was it just right?
I loved the part where Out of the characters, I think I loved Alex the most. His love for the Winchesters were timeless, and I felt just how deep his love is for them each encounter.
I am glad that Bodhi and Bailey got their second chance to be a family and that they chose to stay in Black Bay. They finally found a set up that works for them, with Bodhi still able to do what he wants to do and still have a steady family life. And those adorable kids and the relationship they built with the Lido's. Overall, I enjoyed this book and will read others by this author.

I picked up The Haunting of Winchester Mansion through BookBub and I'm really glad I clicked on it. I tend to read more ghost stories and paranormal books in October, and I was in the mood for a haunted house-style book. This one didn't disappoint, but it's not your typical haunted house tale. It's a contemporary story focused on a married couple with a tragedy in their past and the ghosts in the house they purchase as part of their real estate flipping business.
When Bailey and Bodhi purchase the Winchester Mansion in the idyllic town of Black Bay, they quickly find themselves involved in more than just renovations. Strange things begin to happen almost immediately--from missing keys to mysterious sounds. As the tale unravels, we learn the family that once owned the home tragically died in a boating accident.
This is a modern twist on a classic ghost story/murder mystery. There's plenty of HGTV-ish scenes with the house flipping combined with the sometimes violent outburst of the ghosts. The mystery aspect wasn't difficult to figure out, I had a good idea on who the murderer was pretty early on but I didn't lose interest. I enjoyed reading out it all played out and felt the resolution satisfying.
It's the first book by Alexandria Clarke I've read, and I overall I enjoyed the writing. I'd read another.

Not bad. overall a good read.
I struggled between 3 and four stars for this one. The reason for considering 3 stars was the continuity errors in the book as well as some fluff. The continuity and errors seemed to get worse in the final quarter of the book. Some of the errors were baffling how they could have have been missed by editing. Sometimes the author seemed to focus a little too much on the renovations. It struck me as odd given that is the backdrop of the story, but not something that required the level of detail it received at times. Continuity issues are just an annoyance to me personally.
That said, the four stars won the day because the substance of the story, the character development, and the way the story was brought from beginning to end deserved that fourth star. A lot of modern authors just don’t do a great job developing and wrapping up their story to an appropriate end. Clarke did a good job with these aspects of storytelling.
My final note is that there are some societal worldviews from the author. Personally, when I read fiction, I do so for escape and entertainment. I care no more for the author’s worldview than they care for mine. If it is necessary to the story then all good. Otherwise, leave it out. I don’t want to think of the craziness in the world when I read work like this.

I have to say this one required a little more suspension of disbelief than others in this series. Oddly enough, it's not because of the supernatural elements despite those being a little on the inventive side themselves. The problems I had with this book reflect a lack of research. First, not even a small-town police force would fail to notice the sudden and dramatic change of fortune of even a well-liked resident right around the time of the Winchester family tragedy. Second, in a town this tight-knit, it's not reasonable to believe no one really knows much about Milo, even if he does keep to himself. And last - and this will make no sense until you get to this part of the story so it's not a spoiler - the smell of decay will go right through plastic. Won't even slow it down. Anyone who has ever dealt with rotten meat knows this.
Otherwise, the story was nicely plotted. The reveals came slowly at first, and then sped up and seemed like a natural progression as far as pacing goes. Some elements that really needed a little more explanation were glossed over, but rather than simply ignoring the elephant in the room, the dialogue greeted the elephant and then proceeded to feign deafness. Pity.
The characters - even the ghosts - are likable. The dialogue is well-written and displays a good ear for the way real people speak. I will happily read more by this author at this point.

Decent mystery. Major cliffhanger ending. It seems it's part of a series, so hopefully it's solved in the next one.
Ummmm. Scratch that. There's some major confusion on what is actually considered this book. I had what when I got it appeared to be claimed Books 1 and 2 on Audible. Book "one" ended on the big cliffhanger. Continuing with "book 2" clearly jumped way forward and gave a spoiler. As I investigated, now it seems I've got Book "zero" and "two." Audible shows there's a book one but they don't have it...
Since I was on a cliffhanger, I decided to see if I could find it somewhere else and turns out, I had gotten it as a freebie on Kindle. Found where it left off on the audio was only 25% of the book... so not sure what's going on. Did I or did I not finish the first book?
With all that confusion, I put it to the side for a few months before picking it up again. I feel it started okay but beyond the format confusion, the book itself started feeling confusing like.... "Wait what?" So now at about 50% (according to Kindle), I'm stopping. But I wanted to attempt to explain this out... not sure it was clear, as I'm still unclear, to anyone attempting to read this, so they're prepared for this mess.

If you like suspense and a good ghost story, I highly recommend Alexandria Clarke ‘The Haunting of Winchester Mansion.’ House of Secrets is the entire series (compilation of different authors).
A quaint little town is definitely more than it seems on the surface. After a sweet couple moves into a beautiful, vacant, Victorian home that is their absolute dream home; they begin renovations. This awakens the souls within. They begin to interact with the main character and she finds out much more than she bargained for. Will she be able to help them and allow them to rest? Or does it take a much darker turn? Is it her helping them or them helping her? 👀
Absolute page turner. I didn’t want to put it down!

The Winchester Mansion has some deep cleaning to do.
What do you do when the house that you bought to repair, remodel, and sell quickly, turned out to be haunted by the family who used to live there? All you wanted was a quick "flip" not a trip into The Twi!ight Zone but here they are engaging with the family members in an attempt to right wrongs from the past and maybe make a few bucks for their own home too. Is that too much to ask? Surprisingly readable, not horror and bloody, recommended.

Murder by Death
When I started this book I thought it would be another formulaic book about a haunted house. I was pleasantly surprised. There was a haunted house and it was close to an overhanging cliff but that’s where the formulaic part ended. There were two main people with a very believable back story but the spirits also had a believable back story. We learn about their trials and heartaches as we are taken on a journey of discovery for all of them. I sat down and ended up reading the whole book in one sitting.

A little long but enjoyable
The main characters, Bailey and Bodhi were immediately likable and you find yourself rooting for them to get over their problems after the death of their young daughter. I think the overall story could have been shorter, was surprised that the boat disaster was never really investigated and just assumed it was an accident and Patrick being corporeal for long lengths of time and able to do anything alive person could did put me off a bit but was able to overlook those drawbacks and enjoyed the book.

Excellent Read
Excellent quick read! Figured out the person of interest 3/4 through but the amazing writing kept me turning pages to find out more! Thought I knew more than I actually did which kept me turning pages to see if my theory was correct and for the record what I thought I knew I actually didn’t. Ending was exactly what I hoped it would be and more!! If you enjoy paranormal, suspense, love and loyalty this is the perfect book!

Exciting and thrilling
I love these kind of books. You do not have any idea what is going to happen next. There is definitely some sadness, scary times, exciting, happy times and you do not have any idea how it will end. This is the second book in this series and loved them both. Cannot wait to start the third one. I never wanted to stop reading. Recommend this books to all that love mystery and huntings.

Words can never express how much I loved & enjoyed this book!! It kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. I will definitely recommend this book, if you haven't read it yet! MS Clarke really can write an awesome story! Now I'm going to read some more of her books. Thanks MS Clarke

Rather fun if its your type of book
Enjoyed this one. Sometimes one just wants to have a "let's get away from reality" book that is a totally different than the usual haunted house books you read from time to time and this is one of them. Had a nice relaxing fun read that actually held my interest from start to finish. Recommended

I love a good haunted house story and this one did not disappoint. It blended the themes of a couple dealing with loss, a small town mystery and the idea of restless spirits unable to go into the light until justice is done and their killer revealed I highly recommend this one

Fun and Not fun
I really enjoyed this book. The characters are easily liked and you want to know what happens. Parts you will have to take with a grain of salt (I did) I would love if we really could communicate with spirits. Having them turn corporeal is a little different. Good story, anyway, and it keeps you reading! Thanks, Alexandria!❤️

Outstanding ghost story
This book is different from most ghost stories in so many good ways! You eventually get to learn how the ghosts died and how they haunt the mansion. It explains their personalities and why they are haunting the house. And presents a great ending. I love this book! Excellent author!

The most endearing haunting mystery ever!!
From the very first page I just KNEW this story was going to be different than anything else I had ever read and I was right. I had trouble putting it down even when my eyes wouldn't stay open. And to me, that is the sign of a wonderful book.

While I've not read a lot of "ghost stories", I found this to be a unique approach to ghosts, spirits, haunts, or whatever you want to call those who've died but not crossed over into the next realm. I also thought it was kinda cool too. I really enjoyed this book, and I hope the rest of the haunted house mystery series is as good as this one.

Really good! Can't say enough about how good this book is!
Character development was excellent. The picturesque town of black day was almost as if you were there and could see how it looked and felt. The house on the bluff was awesome cat really say too much more about how much I enjoyed this book .
