December 6, 2019Super cute and funny! Bumble and Bee are best friends, along with their grumpy friend frog. In this episodic beginning reader, the three friends pose for Best Friend pictures, try to cure Frog of their hiccups, and do a waggle dance (like bees do). With graphic novel-like panels and bright colorful illustrations, this is an eye-catching easy reader that kids will gravitate towards. More stories about Bee and Bumble are coming in 2020.

Three friends, a frog and two bees, are depicted in this graphic novel in three seperate vignettes. Each story has a funny element to it and the frog is usually part of the punchline because of his grumpy attitude. In the first story the bees are trying to take a picture with the frog and end up flying upside down so it looks like the frogs frown in a smile.
This is an excellent book for brand new readers. It has simple words, but the graphic novel is very engaging with the potential to sustain a young reader’s attention. The humor is accessible without being overly reductive.

Yet another children’s book where the humor is supposed to be derived from the opposite combination of a grumpy/surly/depressed character and bubbly friends. To say this is my favorite of the bunch isn’t saying much, but I did think there were some cute moments which show at least a little depth to Froggy’s character.

Early reader graphic-style short chapters that is sure to delight kids just getting the hang of reading. Lots of good visual clues and color-coded speech bubbles.
Grumpy frog is a nice, if familiar sort of foil for the two bees' goofy enthusiasms and the jokes are just right for young readers. I especially love the Hiccup story ;-) and the waggle dance is of course a real feature of honeybees so that was fun too.
Back matter includes instructions on how to draw Froggy and writing prompts.
A fun, rewarding and very inviting series start for beginning readers.

Bright and colorful illustrations really bring this book alive. It is comprised of 3 very short stories about friends Bumble and Bee and their much-less enthusiastic friend, Froggy. The stories move quickly with simple words to keep young listeners or early readers engaged in the storylines. This is a fun and easy book to entice young children. It is quite silly at times which they will also enjoy.

This book has 3 really different stories about Bumble, Bee, and Froggy.

Adorable and love. love that the bee waggle dance is part of the story of two playful bees who want their friend the frog to join in the fun of dancing. So many options for this excellent reader to be used to enrich learning about bees and how they communicate to lead other bees to pollen and then have fun drawing frogs! Yes I love frogs and bees but I taught reading and this is a wonderful addition to your reader collection. Fun for word play and connecting with song as well.

In this collection of adventures, Bee and Bumble try to get Froggy to smile for picture day, they help Froggy get rid of his hiccups, and try to get Froggy to join them in the waggle dance.
Bee and Bumble's exuberance and Froggy's more staid personality are good complements to each other. They make you smile, and maybe even laugh. I can see kids really liking this trio. Hand this to beginning readers wanting a funny book.

From the author of Truck Full of Ducks and The Very Impatient Caterpillar! The humor is really funny and I love the concept of early reader graphic novels! Way to go, Scholastic!

Bumble and Bee are always happy, especially when they are with their best friend Froggy. What will it take to get Froggy happy? The 3 stories build on each other versus being completely separate, which I really liked. And I liked how we learned a little about bees finding nectar without being too dry or boring.

I am a huge fan of Burach's books - and these readers don't disappoint! They are cute and funny. There is a drawing lesson in the back and a few questions to help the reader connect even more with the book. Plus - you learn about waggle dances! And how to turn a frown upside down!

This brightly illustrated little book is about two bees and a frog who are friends. The bees are busy and like to tease the frog who likes to be quiet on the pond. Three funny short stories or chapters: Best Friends Picture Day; A Bad Case of the Hiccups; The Waggle Dance.

Perfect book for the young reader who still needs picture support but is ready to tackle a challenge beyond basic sight words. Kids will love the graphic novel format and the feeling of a chapter book. A recommended purchase for school and classroom libraries.

This is an example of an illustrated early reader. My son, 6, typically likes this style. But these characters could not hold his attention. We finished it but barely. Probably won't be looking for other books in this series.

I loved this. Bumble and Bee are so hilarious in their positivity, and Frog is the perfect straight man.
Funny and each "chapter" is a little bit different.
