I ordered this book a few days ago not sure if it was worth it but, oh my goodness! It arrived today and I can't stop looking through it even though I should be working. It is the most beautiful cookbook I own! The pictures are amazing and the book is packed full of them. You almost don't even need words because the pictures show you just what to do. And then the stories that are told are heart warming and so honest that you feel like you would be instant friends with the author if you were to ever meet. I can think of more than a couple people on my Christmas list who would love this book. It's so fun to find something like this that you know others will love too!

This is a beautiful cookbook with lots and LOTS of color photos and I love it. I'd never heard of this baker, but now I'm following her on Instagram and Facebook. I love to bake sugar cookies, but I'm not a fan of royal icing. Buttercream for the win! I made her sugar cookie dough, and this weekend, I have all of my icing tips organized and my color gels. I'm so ready to pipe frosting and decorate! I don't consider myself an artist, but I have taken a Wilton cake decorating course and found it to be fun. I'll update, once I've completed my first project. By the way, the recipes aren't for just Christmas. She has them broken down by season. I have a pile of cookie cutters, I've collected over the year. Now, I don't have an excuse to not make them for Easter, St. Patty's Day, Spring, Summer and Christmas.
As an added bonus I was pleasantly surprised by the scripture in each chapter, and reading her personal story of loss and renewed faith. She is not just beautiful, but her personality really shines through. I think if I was to sit and have tea with her, she'd be as lovely as her recipes.

You will never need another cookie decorating book! This is the holy grail of sugar cookies, decorating tips and buttercream (dairy-free/gluten-free recipe too!)! The Hutch Oven’s secret recipes are in here, that alone is worth buying this book... but there is so much more included behind this expertly crafted cookie decorating guide. The pages are filled with instructions for each cookie! Seriously... STEP BY STEP, with pictures! This book, from cover to is so well done. The pages are quality and it’s just a solid book to have in the kitchen (and it’s pretty!)
While the cookies are beyond beautiful, the most beautiful part of this book is the author, Emily Hutchinson’s testimony. She shares why she started baking again... it’s incredibly touching and inspiring.

I thought this would be a better standalone guide for creating my own buttercream-frosted masterpieces. Hutchinson has a TON of cute ideas included in this book, but unfortunately, I found that the instructions to achieve each design weren't very clear. I find Hutchinson's short how-to videos on social media to be much more valuable for learning her piping techniques.

a review of the basic recipes you might want and picture instructions on so many different designs and techniques. Not sure I am at this level of decorating but incase I ever feel I want to up my skills this would be a good resource.
