Blaire Culpepper's worst nightmare has come true, the man she loves, who she thought returned her feelings is courting another woman.

Lieutenant Julian Drake loves Blaire Culpepper, but he felt he had nothing to offer her, when his brother passed away and Julian inherited the estate, he thought he would finally be able to declare himself and ask for her hand. But when Daphne, his brother's betrothed tells him she is pregnant with his brother's child, Julian feels honor bound to marry her and give his brother's child the name and inheritance that should have been theirs. He sees Blaire and tries to talk to her, but Daphne and her mother intrude and are rude to Blaire. Later he seeks her out and tries to explain, he tells her that he has not actually proposed to Daphne, but he most likely will. Blaire wishes him well and decides that she will go to the family estate to lick her wounds.

But it appears fate is not ready to let the would be lovers walk away just yet, on the way to the country, Blaire comes across an accident and stops to offer aid. The carriage passengers turn out to be Julian, Daphne and her mother. Julian is unconscious and in need of immediate attention, so Blaire takes them to the nearest inn and when the doctor arrives, she agrees to stay and nurse Julian. She learns from Daphne that they were on their way to his county house to marry - a blow that Blaire was not expecting.

Julian wakes and has no memory, the doctor assures him that it is not uncommon for someone with a head injury to suffer memory loss and is sure that it will return. He remembers nothing, so when Daphne tells him they were going to marry, he tells her they will have to wait until his memory returns. Blaire nurses him and the more time he spends with her, the more he wonders why he would ever consider marrying Daphne.

Little by little, his memory returns and he is sure that Blaire is the woman he should marry, but before they can even consider a HEA, there will be several obstacles for them to overcome as well as some shocking revelations and some unexpected twists and turns.

I think this might be my favorite story in the series, it is well written, flows nicely, has a lot of twists and turns, secrets, lies, deception, heartache and some sweet kisses (no steam). The ending was wonderful and even though this is the fifth book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone title.

2.5 stars.

Sweet and cute, which is basically what I've come to expect from Collette Cameron. This story's plot was a bit slow, but that's ok since the other sisters' and cousins' stories covered almost everything but amnesia. So of course that's what we have here. :) There wasn't a lot of character development, and the MCs' inner monologues basically went around in circles, but it's ok. Because like I said before. Expectations.

I liked the safety, lack of details from the H's past and appreciated the dual povs. I also liked that there weren't any intimate scenes. The ending was a bit abrupt, but I was glad to see all the couples reunited for a family celebration. Overall, this was a sweet, albeit superficial, series.

The Lieutenant and the Lady is the fifth book in The Blue Rose Regency Romances: The Culpepper Misses Book 5) by Collette Cameron. I can easily be read as a standalone book despite it being part of a series.

Blaire Culpepper has returned from Europe where she had been in school. She finally wants to declare her love for the man she has loved for as long as she can remember. She is heartbroken when she hears the rumours that he is engaged to another woman. Who just happens to be his recently deceased brother's fiance.

Lieutenant Julian Drake has had to give up his position in the forces because after his brother's death he has had to take up his estate. He has been in love with Blaire for a long time, and he had hoped to make her his wife when she returned from abroad. Unfortunately, he can't go through with the plan because he finds out that his brother's fiance is pregnant, and he is honour bound to marry her and bring the baby up with her. It's the last thing he wants, but he has no choice.

When Julian and Blaire talk, he explains his situation to her and broken-hearted she decides to go to the family's country estate to recover. On her way there, circumstances see her, an injured Julian and his fiance and her mother staying at an Inn. From there all sorts of intrigue starts. I don't want to say any more as it will be giving too much away. Let's just say that apart from a possible beautiful romance happening between our main couple, there is drama, and twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

Honestly, this book kept me captivated from start to finish, and the ending was absolutely perfect. I have read a couple of the other books in this series and intend to read them all. All the Culpepper Misses are happy now and I finished reading this book with a happy smile on my face. Despite all the skullduggery that occurs this book was, for the most part, a feel-good one and a real pleasure to read.

What an amazing and oh so charming story!! The Lieutenant and the Lady by Collette Cameron is book 5 in The Blue Rose Regency Romances: The Culpepper Misses series and oh what a wonderful series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read them all to get the full story. What I love so much about Collette’s writing is that she always adds an animal as one as her main characters and this is no exception as there are two lovable Border Collie puppies, Apollo and Zeus, and these little rascals are just too adorable for words. This is one of those story that is so conflicting as you are not sure what the hero should do. Should he go with honor and duty or love and which will he choose? You will just have to read this wonderful story to find out. This story has deception, death, honor, pride, pain, loss of memory, caring, kindness, a family’s love, support, an accident, lies and love. I highly recommend to read this book!

I truly loved this story. As is the case in most of Ms. Cameron’s books, there is wonderful humor sprinkled throughout. I laughed out loud during the bookshop scene. “The Crimes of Love” by Marquis de Sade is an actual book published in 1799. It was considered more than scandalous at the time of its publication. So it is especially funny for an innocent Miss Blaire Culpepper to be caught with that particular book in her hands. And I love it when authors are able to weave actual history into their stories and Ms Cameron does this masterfully. This is a sweet romance. I was gifted a copy.

A cute ending to the Culpeppers' stories. Blaire is a great heroine and Julian is a great hero. The setup to their story is interesting and we get to see how honorable and caring they both are. I enjoyed this one a lot, and I recommend the whole series.

This was an entertaining read. I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series and this was no exception. Blaire was such a kind person and she had loved Julian for some time. Although, Julian felt the same about Blaire, he didn’t feel he had anything to offer her, being the second son. Julian’s circumstances change with the death of his brother but this, also, has an affect on the duty conscious Julian. There follows heartache and a number of surprising events. I loved the way the family all look out for each other. It was lovely to hear all the news about the family in the epilogue. A fitting end to a great series.

Temple of the Muses Book Store, London, England 1823
When I turned the first page of Blaire Culpepper and Julian's story I knew it would be amazing and full of the uniqueness of a book by Collette Cameron. Of course the first scene with Blaire in the bookstore and an incident with a scandalous book was priceless!
Blaire had been in love with Julian and felt he may feel the same. But when she returned from being away, it appreared he had engaged another. At least that was the rumor and she saw the evidence in person.
Then the adventure of the two begin. As always there are wonderful animals that appear and these two pups, Zeus and Apollo, were found and taken in by Blaire. That in itself is a great part of the story!!
Hold onto your seats (which you will not be able to stop once you begin this book!) and be entertained with suspense, characters that you just want to haul off and wallop for their devious plans, laugh out loud moments, tarradiddles, some tears and a beautiful love that cannot be denied.
The epilogue at the end was beyond magnificent and although I loved every single story in this series, this has to be my favorite one. It brings all the family together and it does not get any better than that. Collette Cameron is one of my favorite authors and an amazing storyteller! I highly recommend anything she writes!!

Collette Cameron’s The Blue Rose Regency Romance: The Culpepper Misses series is coming to an end. ☹ Oh, but what a way to go out! Blaire, the last single, and the youngest, Culpepper has her heart broken and her loving sisters, cousins, and their spouses all make an appearance to help heal that broken heart.

Lieutenant Julian Drake is a man of honor and when faced with a situation that involves an innocent he does the honorable thing; despite the heart break it causes him and another.
There were moments that I wanted to strangle Julian. At other times I cheered him on, hoping he would remain the way he was in that moment. And I really wished Blaire would give the villainesses a good thrashing.

Appearances from the other Culpepper Misses, their spouses, dear Freddy, a couple of villainesses, frisky pups, and, of course, Ms. Cameron’s wit bring this final book the shining star of the series (okay, they’re all shining stars!). AND THAT EPILOGUE – PERFECTION!

Blaire Culpepper has been in love with Julian Drake for so long. Before the twins, Blaike and Blaire went to a "school" in Geneva, the two drew very close. Julian made it clear Blaire was the one for him. Why then is he marrying his late brother's fiancee? Daphne and her mother Joan insist they marry quickly. Daphne is pregnant with Julian's late brother Alfred's child. He feels he needs to do the right thing. Blaire can not take the gossip or seeing them together, so she decides to go back home, to where it all began. While on the way, a storm hits and causes a major accident. Who were involved in that accident why Julian and the two trolls. He gets seriously hurt and can't remember much. The doctor asks Blaire to care for him for various reasons. While stuck at the inn, Blaire keeps her eyes and ears open, knowing (as she always does) that something isn't quite right with those trolls. She learns a very dangerous secret and learning they might be in danger , she calls for aid. Her cousin-in-laws and soon to be brother -in-law. Who shows ups? Her true Posse the Culpeppers, which is quite remarkable. Cousins and sister come piling out, ready to swoop in. Not normally a comical thing but Brooke toting her baby, Bylthe so pregnant ready to drop, Brooke and Blaike at the ready. Oh and their mates along with them admitting defeat (they couldn't keep them home if they tried, which they did)...She tells them the problem/info and BAM the Culpeppers save the day. And another HEA ...

Miss Blair Culpepper comes back from her travels abroad to learn that the love of her life is betrothed to another. She has decided to move to the country so she will not have to endure seeing Julian with another woman.

Lieutenant Julian Drake feels honor-bound to wed his dead brother’s fiance because she is pregnant. He would rather wed Blair but he does not want his brother’s child to be illegitimate so of course he has to do the right thing.

This is the fifth book in the series, but the first that I’ve read. It can certainly be read as a stand-alone. This book is a roller coaster ride full of adventure. There are some twists and turns, a carriage accident, amnesia, foul play, manipulation, family loyalty, and of course the puppies. I highly recommend this story and look forward to reading the previous ones.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

A 4 1/2 star adventure, suspense-filled, fun, and sweetly romantic read

Collette Cameron offers a delightful addition to the ongoing saga of the Culpepper Misses with her fifth book in The Blue Rose Regency Romances, The Lieutenant and The Lady. Blaire Culpepper returns to England after being abroad furthering her education. She hopes to renew her acquaintance with Lieutenant Julian Drake, whom she had formed an attachment to before she left. She is dismayed upon her return to find out he may be engaged to his deceased brother’s fiancé. She finds out that Julian still cares for her but faces the dilemma of how to break a betrothal agreement he may have to honor.

What follows is a lovely and fun tale involving adventure, suspense, heartache, laugh out loud moments, pups on the loose, memory loss, secrets revealed, family love, truly conniving characters, and a very sweet romance. The writing style flows even with all the twists and turns going on. This work can be read as a standalone, though there are characters in the work that appeared in previous ones in the series. Having read the other Blue Rose Regency Romances, I can recommend all as very enjoyable reads. I was fortunate to receive this as an ARC from the author and offer this voluntary review.

This is dramatic, heartbreaking, romantic and gripping. Julian is an honorable, stubborn and oblivious man. Blaire is a determined, caring, brave and generous woman. When Blaire arrives back in London after going finishing school she's shocked and heartbroken to find Julian, the man she loves, is engaged to his deceased brother's intended. Julian has a good reason for considering marrying Daphne, he just can't tell anyone. After talking to Julian Blaire decides to leave London and go home. On her way she discovers Julian, Daphne and Daphne's mother have had a carriage accident, and Julian doesn't remember who he is. It becomes Blaire’s responsibility to care for Julian, much to the consternation of Daphne and her mother. And so begins the journey of she says, she knows. Poor Julian just gets more confused. A shocking revelation at the end of the book is both unexpected and sad.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

I have been looking forward to Julian & Blair's story with excitement & sadness - excited because Blair was the last to find love & marry but sad because I knew this would be the last Culpepper book to enjoy & love the characters.

Blaire and Julian, (Lieutenant Julian Drake) have had feelings for one another for a long time but Julian felt he was beneath her station. His brother's death forces him to sell his commission & he has inherited his brother's estate & his brother's pregnant fiance. Julian's honor requires him to marry her so if it is a boy, he would be the next heir. When Blaire returns to England, she discovers all of this news & now isn't the time to declare her love for him.

The story is how Julian & Blaire fight to get back to each other & all the suspense, drama, villains with some fun antics thrown in by the two rescue mixed border collie puppies, Zeus & Apollo, she & Julian saved from some mean boys. I loved the story Collette tells, the way she brings the family in to the mix & always adding animals that we fall in love with. I highly recommend this book & would recommend the whole series. I am so sad to see the Culpepper's end & I did shed a tear at the end when Blaire said "love" - the end was here.

I love the Culpeppers & this fifth & final book in the series is captivating, emotional & I couldn’t put it down, I read it in a sitting, I laughed, I groaned, I shouted out loud & I cried especially for an empty chair. The author’s books are well written, her turn of phrase is so entertaining & the story flows effortlessly. The characters have plenty of depth, I loved most of them but hated a couple! I adored the epilogue which was a brilliant ending & left me thoroughly satisfied
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Blaire is the last of the Culpepper Misses to land her man. This story is a rollercoaster of a read because Blaire and Julian have some pretty big obstacles in their way, including the two most horrible villainesses that Collette has written of. If you love to hate the villains, you will love this book. You will also enjoy the first scene at the bookshop, where Collette shows a great talent in writing humourous scenes. But yes, there are tears to be shed while reading this too, although the HEA brings smiles. Thank you for that, Collette, So yes, a bumpy ride for Blaire and Julian’s story, but well worth it for the happy feelings at the end. And a fitting finish to the series. If anyone deserved to find strong, honourable, good men, the Culpeppers did.

Blaire had thought she'd found her true love, but was devastated when she returned from school and found out he was courting another woman. Julian had loved Blaire almost since he'd seen her but thought himself too far below her to court her. With a change in circumstances comes many problems he's trying to figure out, including his brothers fiance! I loved Blaire and how she always kept her integrity when dealing with Daphne by taking the high road. (I know I wouldn't have been able to do that!) The 2 sides of Julian were pretty funny to see as well! The only sad part is knowing that the series is ending, but at least all the sisters have their HEA.

Blaire Culpepper is heartbroken. She’d been hoping the news that Julian Drake was back in London paying court to another woman wasn’t true. Hearing his explanation as to why only breaks her heart more. When she escapes to the country to set her life on a new path, fate crashes her plans. If you want a witty story with likable leads & a set of dastardly villains, you’ll enjoy this one.
As this book wraps up a fun series, I know I’ll miss reading about the Culpepper Misses!

This is the story of Blaire and Julian, (Lieutenant Julian Drake). They met previously and were falling in love. They were apart for awhile, and because of Julian’s honor and things he feels he must do, they are separated. This is the story of how they returned back together. There is a villain, or two and a little mystery. I think you will enjoy this book, Collette Cameron is an excellent writer.

This might be my second-favorite book of the series.

I fell in LOVE with the plot: Julian, Lieutenant Drake, is coerced into courting his brother's intended, Daphne, after his step-brother's death and Daphne's pending pregnancy. He's in this circus with Daphne & her mother, who, a troll is being nice. She's downright evil: I wanted to punch her. Repeatedly. Mark of a great villain! Julian's been in love with Blaire and tells her to her face that he wants to marry her but can't because of his obligations. I knew early on that the pregnancy was fake - that wasn't hard to figure out - but the rest of it was a *mind blown*. They all end up at the same inn following a coach accident and craziness ensues. You do get all of the couples together (4 married / betrothed Culpepper Misses & their spouses / intendeds) and getting everyone in the same room at the inn? *swoon* GREAT chapter in the book too!

The plot was awesome and the epilogue was AMAZING. It really tied everything up quite nicely. Love how the twins are regarding their marriages and post-marriage activities. Love that Heath is now related to four of his best friends in the whole world and they're all one big happy. SUCH a great series and I absolutely adored the ride.

Collette Cameron has done it again with this amazing addition to the Culpepper Misses collection. Blaire and Julian are a couple in love who a being kept apart by two of the most despicable and scheming women everf written. The Trudeaus (mother and daughter) are so wicked it is a delight to see them get what they deserve. When a carriage accident occurs in front of Blaire's carriage she is surpirse to find that the passengers are the Trudeaus and Julian (supposedly going to his estate for a wedding between Daphne and Julian). Unfortunately, Julian's amnesia keeps then stranded at a local inn where Blaire nurses him back to help while she tries to get to the bottom of what scheme the Trudeaus are planning.
The unveiling of the truth makes the Happily Evder After even batter and the epilogue manages to wrap up a happy ending for all 5 Culpepper misses.

I really enjoyed Blaire and Julian's story!

How disheartening it would be to came back into town to reunite with your love only to hear that he has plans to marry another? That is exactly what happened to Blaire. She couldn't imagine what had happened in the time she was away, especially after meeting the woman that Julian planned to marry. But then things get interesting when they are forced into close proximity. Can they find their way back to each other?

This was sort of a reunion story. Watching Blaire and Julian find their way back to one another was quite a joy!

Even though this was book 5 in the series and I had not read the previous books, I didn't feel like anything was missing because I hadn't. I'm now excited to go back and read books 1-4 of the series!

This was a delightful end to an enjoyable series.
Blaire is the last Culpepper sister who is not betrothed or wed.
Before she went Geneva to attend school with her twin sister, Blaire had been in love with Lieutenant Drake. On her return she is told he is as good as betrothed to another.
Due to a series of mishaps, Blaire finds herself at an inn with Drake, his supposed fiancee, and her mother, nursing Drake as he recovers from an accident that has caused him to lose his memory.
We get to know Blaire's kind and compassionate nature, and the extremes his fiancee will go to, to ensure she marries wealth.
There are also a couple of mischievous puppies to laugh at.
I enjoyed all the books in this series, and I'm sorry it has finished.
I am sure that the Author will find others to entertain us with.

A wonderful ending to the Culpepper Misses series. (Please note it is not necessary to read the other books in the series, as this can be read as a standalone, but it was very enjoyable to see the family all together in the end). Blaire and Julian have many obstacles to overcome to find their HEA, and travelling along with them through the ride is very enjoyable. Ms Cameron's stories and style of writing is always a pleasure. Highly recommend. **I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.**
