Anyone with many gadgets in the kitchen knows that adding something new better be worth it. Counter and cabinet space are at a premium, so either something has to go or if the item is getting counter space, it better be because it is a well-used item. I’ve heard so many rave reviews about air fryers, that I finally bought one in January. It came with 10 recipes and no nutritional information, so I knew that a cookbook was in my future.
There is an introduction which details the benefits of air frying, how it works, step-by-step directions, frequently asked questions, and the best and worst foods to air fry. Every recipe has nutritional information, a variation tip, prep time, cook time, and temperature. What you aren’t getting are many pictures. Each chapter highlights one of the recipes with the picture, so if that is a dealbreaker for you, be aware.
Since I’m relatively new to this, I chose different recipes to see how they would come out. Juicy seasoned pork tenderloin, Tandoori chicken breast with light mint yogurt sauce, Parmesan Shrimp, Roasted carrots, and Easy Meatball sandwiches are the ones I’ve tried. All were straightforward without any hard to find ingredients and very good. I enjoyed the air fryer cooking charts as they cover a lot of foods that you may cook(frozen hash browns, frozen burritos, fresh mushrooms, fresh zucchini, chicken tenders, crab cakes, and a whole lot more).
I’m using the air fryer four or five nights a week so it’s definitely worth the counter space. A cookbook like this makes all the difference in trying new things and seeing just how much the air fryer can replace the stove, the oven, and the slow cooker. Besides the lack of pictures, my only other concern is some of the recipes really don’t seem to be that healthy. Sodium, cholesterol, and carbohydrates can be high on some of the recipes but with some substitutions, I’m able to make them work. The Essential Air Fryer Cookbook for Two was a really nice way to get to know my air fryer and I’ll be trying additional recipes.
I received an ARC from RockRidge Press through Callisto Publisher's Club.
