One Night to Remember

Rate this book
Meet the unforgettable men of London's most notorious tavern, The Wicked Duke. Seductively handsome, with charm and wit to spare, one night with these rakes and rogues will never be enough…

Notorious whip Giles Langford is surprised to learn his blacksmith is a girl, shocked to realize she’s the out-of-his-league sister of a duke, and horrified to discover he’s fallen in love with the impossible-to-tame woman anyway. With no money and no title, Giles has nothing to offer but his heart...

Felicity Sutton knows poverty firsthand, and she’s never going back. She might miss the smithy, but not the relentless desperation of no home and an empty belly. Of course she’ll accept the stability of a wealthy ton suitor. As for the penniless daredevil she loves, well... At least they’ll have one night to remember.

I'm a fan of Erica Ridley, and her books are usually 3/4 star territory for me, but One Night to Remember didn't quite get there.

I'm pretty open to, shall we say flexibility, in my historical romance. I'm not one who is a stickler for historical accuracy, and I'm very go with the flow about most things. However, One Night to Remember really had me scratching my head. A sister of a duke who moonlights as a blacksmith... um, okay? I might have been just fine with that if the romance was phenomenal, but it was very lackluster for me.

Erica Ridley's books never have any heat, but her best ones have insane chemistry. This one didn't. I just never felt the pull between the two MCs, and I had a hard time buying their romance. The lack of heat didn't help, but it was really the dialogue and that something that was missing that made the romance fall flat for me.

I know Erica Ridley can do better than this one, and though I can see that most of my fellow readers enjoyed this, I wanted something more.

3/5 Stars.

Another sweet and enjoyable addition to the Wicked Dukes Club by Erica Ridley. I'm really liking the world the two ladies have created in this two-author series. This was the 5th book in the series, and so far I'm yet to be dissapointed by anything in this series. A lovely almost-impossible romance between the sister of a Duke and a common blacksmith.

I received this book from the author and publisher for an honest review. This does not in any way affect my opinion of the story or character.

Felicity Sutton, has lived a very unique life and it's about to get even more topsy-turvy. She lived on the streets for years, working in a smithy to survive, all alone with only her older brother Cole for protection. She's survived hungry days and nights, always living hand to mouth and not knowing when the next meal would be. She's also seen how many other children live in the same state as she and her brother, but not all are as lucky as her. Not all have a big brother to protect them, and more so, not all of them are one day plucked out of nowhere and announced the heirs to a Dukedom. Out of the blow Cole is found and proved as the heir to the Duke of Colehaven, thus turning her from street urchin into Lady Felicity.

Giles Langford, The Curricle King, is a bit more well-adjusted than Felicity. He grew up in a loving home, and has expanded his father smithy business tenfold. He's infamous across London as a great curricle racer, and also to be a charming, devastatingly handsome fellow - you know a mandate in such books. Don't roll your eyes.

Giles is hired by the Duke of Colehaven to up-keep his prize curricle, ride in a race in his name and to win and any cost. He also has an added request - that Giles work with Felicity in a equal capacity as noone knows about the mechanics of his curricle as well as his sister. Felicity and Giles, both healthy fine specimens of their gender, are thrown together in close quaters. Take a guess where we go from here.

It's truly sweet to read their romance blossom, and I enjoyed their scenes together. However I do feel like the author didn't do as much in this book to really make us feel for them. The heat for one was completely lacking. While, I might overlook that - It just felt like that enough time wasn't given to their love story. It felt like they had fallen in love and we just had to accept it without really getting to experience it with them. Usually, you like to be taken through a journey with the characters, not just told what it is.

Here is where I think this book lost out a bit - but otherwise it was a lovely, short read.

Will be sure to read the next one!

Erica Ridley’s historical romances ALWAYS make me smile! ONE NIGHT TO REMEMBER had me grinning ear to ear from the heartwarming moments to the downright comical ones as Ms. Ridley brings her own brand of history to life with light-hearted sparkle.

Imagine a “lady” getting down and dirty like a grease monkey! Kind of give you vapors, doesn’t it? Wait until you read Felicity and Giles’ story, learn of their lives and feel the romance blossoming between them in a time when all a lady could do was marry for a title, security and position. Loved these characters! Loved Felicity’s secret defiance and Giles’ acceptance of both her knowledge and her capabilities in a man’s world.

Once again, Erica Ridley gave me an afternoon of sheer delight and swoon worthy romance with her sassy characters, light-hearted style of writing where anything can and just may happen!

I am truly enjoying this series. The novellas are always fun and lovely, with only nice heroes who are know for being kind and decent instead of relishing in a rakish reputation or something like that. Only once in a while does a heroine with a Cause come along, and for some reason I never really enjoy those.

I like the pairing of a hero without a title who works for a living (in a smithy!) and a Duke's sister. If I hadn't already known Felicity from previous books, this would make no sense if you didn't know that before her brother inherited his title, they both lived, parentless, in poverty, and that Felicity has a hard time letting go of her past and settling into life as a member of the ton. She is desperate to find a husband who will not only allow her to further her Cause (rescuing children and making sure they don't have to suffer as she had), but support it. It just never occurred to her to look for someone without a title...
In the beginning, I had a hard time liking Felicity, because as Giles assumes in the beginning, it did seem a bit mercenary how she goes about her hunt for a husband. But she grew on me after a while, especially after remembering a bit more about her backstory from previous books.

Giles was another of Ridley's Nice Guys. He has been working all his life making carriages and racing them, taking in poor children from the community and giving them a chance.
I really liked him. He was just lovely, and I loved how he didn't try to change Felicity, but supported her every step of the way.

This was a very sweet ending to a fun series. I enjoyed Hugh and Pen’s adventure. Hugh is my favorite type of hero, the celibate kind. Not a rake or a rogue, just a nice, kind man. And poor Pen! Hugh was just the hero she needed. I enjoyed this novella. The writing is good and there is nice character development for a short format. I don’t love novellas but that’s generally because I would like to spend more time with the characters. This series worked well because of the reoccurring characters so you get the chance to meet them in the previous books before they became the H/h of the next book.

Series: Wicked Dukes Club #5
Publication Date: 6/11/19
Number of Pages: 200

This was a quick, fun read and not what I expected from the book blurb. She wasn’t working in his smithy without him knowing she was a she. I enjoyed both of the lead characters, but was more drawn to Giles than Felicity – I think mostly because he was who he was and made no bones about it, but she was pretending to be something she wasn’t. I understand her pretending, but I was beginning to wonder if she was ever going to get past it. In the end, it would appear that there were no ramifications to their unequal union and that wouldn’t have been possible. All-in-all, I thoroughly enjoyed this fun read.

Giles Langford is known as the ‘Curricle King’ because of his racing prowess. He’s one of the most popular men in London, but he is neither rich nor titled. He owns a smithy that he has tripled in size from the days he worked it together with his father. He’s doing very well and is the preferred provider/maintainer of curricles and other carriages. He has no plans to marry, he’s just never found anyone with whom he wants to spend time and, he wants to have the kind of love his parents have.

Felicity Sutton is the sister of the Duke of Colehaven and she knows, first hand, just what poverty is because she’s lived it. Before her brother was found and named as the Duke, they had lived hand-to-mouth in the worst slums and to stay together, she had dressed as and pretended to be a boy. Now, she is expected to be a normal society miss – and she can play the game – she just longs to be who she really is and to help all of those children who are in the same predicament as she and her brother were. She has a plan to do that – she’ll marry the richest titled gentleman she can find and there will be a clause in her marriage agreement that will allow her to contribute to whatever charitable ventures she wishes. So far, none of the men have been willing to sign, but she has hopes for a certain marquess.

Felicity and Giles are first brought together because her brother has made a bet that his curricle will win in a dawn race. He wants Felicity (a gifted smithy herself) and Giles to work together to assure that his curricle is in top shape and ready to win. They are a bit wary of each other at first, but it doesn’t take long before they are very comfortable with each other and enjoying being together. Add in a bit of strife, an injury and a surprising race ending and – well – we’re well on our way to a HEA.

It was definitely a fun read!

So good
So perfect
One Night to Remember is definitely, One Book to Remember.

I adored these two , they are perfect together, from different worlds but not so different beginnings, they need to find themselves to find their future.

She’s a Duke’s sister, but from the slums and streets originally, trained as a blacksmith, and now a Lady of means .

He’s a man who owns his own carriage company, a blacksmith, and a self made man after taking over the family business.

The two have a joint goal, to win a race for her brother .
And a joint desire in each other , but if she can’t give up her need for a title , can they ever find the love they both need.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

One Night to Remember is the fifth book in the Wicked Dukes Club series by Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke. Erica is writing the odd-numbered books while Darcy is writing the even-numbered books in the series.

Giles Langford may be untitled, but he is still relatively wealthy, is a well known and respected blacksmith, but is most well known for being the 'curricle King'. He enters races and for the most part, wins them. He is also very good looking and often has women flirting with him. His good looks aren't lost on Lady Felicity Sutton.

Felicity Sutton is the sister of the Duke of Colehaven. The Duke wants nothing more than for Felicity to marry well, and they both agree on one particular aristocrat as being perfect for her. Like herself, this man wants to do all he can to help the underprivileged children of London. In fact, it has to be a clause in the marriage contract that her husband will agree to fund her charitable endeavours. It is that clause that has seen many possible suitors give up wanting to marry Felicity in the past. She won't give up her dream because having been brought up in the slums she knows first hand how much the children suffer.

Colehaven enjoys entering races and it is with this in mind that he hires Giles to work with his sister to ensure that he has the best curricle available, and for Giles to race for him. When she was younger Felicity used to help out in the local smithies and during that time gained a love of working on vehicles and making them the safest and best they could be. Of course, nobody in high society knows that, so Giles is both shocked yet intrigued when he learns the truth. It soon goes from him humouring Colehaven by agreeing to Felicity helping out, to him realising how amazing a blacksmith she is. Not to mention how fabulous a person she is, and how attractive too. It isn't long until their time together brings them close. Close enough for Felicity to give up her dream of helping the underprivileged children? To want to marry him and not her rich aristocrat? Maybe, maybe not...but one thing she is determined to happen is for her and Giles to at least have one night to remember!! What happens after that you will have to read to find out for yourself.

As with every book in this series I loved this story. It was such a pleasure to see that although secret from society Felicity still managed to work on curricles and enjoyed taking them for secret rides in the park at top speeds. The thrill she enjoyed was perfectly described by the author, it was almost like being in the vehicle with her. She is such a fun character and I loved her interactions with Giles especially during one scene when he finds her in his shop! He is a really likeable character and it was easy to see why Felicity soon found herself falling for him.

As usual, the Wicked Duke pub got a mention, and every time that one of the owners enters the patrons shout out their name. That scene tickles me every time, and it does especially so in a particular scene in this book. You will know which one I mean when you read it yourself.

I also loved the race scene, the one that Giles and Felicity have been aiming for in the book. It certainly didn't go as I predicted, nor did the aftermath of it. Was the ending believable, well, yes to me it was. In reality, I don't suppose it would have happened like that, but who cares about reality?! I love a happy ending and this one was just perfect!

I recommend this book and each one in the series and I will be so sad when it comes to an end.

Lady Felicity Sutton grew up poor, she along with her brother (now the Duke of Colehaven) worked in a smithy as children and were often hungry and homeless. She got lucky, her brother inherited a wealthy dukedom and she no longer has to work or worry. But it isn't enough, she never wants to know poverty again and wants to do something to aid the impoverished children of London. To do that, she must marry and marry well. She had certain requirements for her would be husband and is willing to make personal sacrifices to ensure she marries a man who can provide financial stability and fund her dream of a foundation to help the poorest of children.

Felicity has decided this is the season she will marry and stop tinkering with her brother's carriages. She has found the perfect suitor, Lord Raymore, the marquess is older, but has a substantial fortune and already fights tirelessly in the House of Lords to help the poor, especially children. He is exactly the right man, so she will show him that she is the perfect woman to be his marchioness. But when she learns her brother is entering his racing carriage in a race, she can't resist suggesting modifications. Cole agrees and tells her he will not be racing himself, he has hired Giles Langford, a well-know coach smith and racer, known as the Curricle King to race in his stead.

Giles is surprised and impressed by Felicity. She is lovely and talented, but this race is important, winning will help his business and afford him the opportunity to apprentice more of the poverty stricken children in his neighborhood. As they work together, they learn more about each other and the attraction grows, leading to kisses and deeper feelings. Giles knows he is far below Felicity's station, but can't stop himself for dreaming of the impossible - a lifetime with her.

Felicity is falling hard for Giles, but she can't give up on her dream and Giles has neither the money or the political power to help her realize that dream. She is torn and has to decide if her dream is worth the cost of losing the love of a lifetime.

This was well written, fast paced, sweet story, with wonderful leads, warm love scenes and delightful secondary characters. Both Felicity and Giles are likeable and the chemistry between them is undeniable. I enjoyed their journey to HEA and would be happy to recommend the book, but I admit, I did find the ending a bit unbelievable/implausible.

One Night to Remember just might be my favorite by Erica Ridley! I loved Lady Felicity - her unconventional childhood made her an even more unconventional lady. And you all know how I love everything that's a little bit off from the norm.

Giles was 'just' a smithy, but he was a true gentleman at heart. And he was also fairly unconventional and open minded for the times.

Felicity and Giles made One Night to Remember a fantastic story - and I kind of wish there would be another story of their adventures - because they both earned a place in my heart.

Unusual talent!

A woman blacksmith, sister to a Duke, captures the heart of well known rogue and whip Giles Langford.
Felicity Sutton, brought up in squalor has fought her way to being a gifted blacksmith with an unbeatable knowledge of the performance of carriages. Yes, she does work in secret disguised as a lad.
What a pair these two would make! However Giles has no money and title, and Felicity's fear of poverty well experienced has decided her to only settle for a wealthy suitor of the ton.
However that was before these two has met. Now Felicity will settle for one night with Giles before marching towards a future of security with no smithing. The Sparks do fly and this is a worthy addition to the complicated lives of the members of Dukes Tavern.

One Night to Remember is book 5 in the Wicked Dukes Club. It's definitely a stand alone since I haven't read any books in this series and at no point did I feel lost. Overall the story was sweet and I thought Giles and Felicity made a great couple. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for me to read another book in this series. I need more from my reads and this one wasn't memorable enough for me to want to continue.

So here is the next-to-last book in this awesome series and Felicity’s story, the sister of Cole, the Duke from the first book.
This story can be read as a standalone, but read the previous books will not be lost as all the stories were awesome.
I confess I had a hard time at first to warm up for Felicity, I do understand when you have felt hunger and cold, loosing it could be dreadful, but she has very few risk to go back to her previous life, so why this hunting list for a wealthy and titled husband. Worst, to achieve her goal, she must hide and will have to bury her true self. Sure behind her prom and proper facade, she has a heart of gold, she wants to help others less fortunate but is selling her soul the good choice to achieve what she wants.
Giles Langston never doubted who he was and what he was looking for, with own two hands, he rose himself and extended his father’s business to a wealthy enterprise. But he is no blue-blood so Felicity dismisses him immediately.
As they come to work in close contact, each opens to the other, she is blunt about her requirements for a potential husband but she sees first hand with Giles that good can be done even by no lofty men.
Slowly she will question her objectives, as during her two weeks of association with him, she can be herself, not the Lady Felicity everyone expects to see as the sister of a Duke.
Giles is a good man, he is proud of what he achieved and will be happy to go on like this, but Felicity shows him the one thing his life seems to lack but will she find him enough.
A lovely read about a woman who might lose herself if she does not comprehend who she is before it is too late.

Anachronistic wallpaper fiction that's mildly fun but ultimately forgettable. Felicity grew up in a smithy when her brother inherited the Dukedom at a young age. Since then, she has been determined to make a good match that will give her the political clout and social connections to improve the rights of children living in poverty. However, when her brother makes a bet in a horse race, he gets Felicity to work with Giles, a renowned horse racer and blacksmith.

I truly enjoyed the anachronistic plot and thematic messages. It was new - and intriguing - to read about a female blacksmith that knew much about carriages, and it was pleasant to read about Giles understanding the double standard Felicity lived under. Not only that but that Felicity was the best part of the story.

However, the chemistry was not really there. There were glimmers of it between Felicity and Giles, but nothing developed. At first, I thought Giles would dislike Felicity because he assumes all she wants is a title, but he quickly falls in love with her and wants to convince her to be with him, so much so that he understands why she is marrying for a title. There wasn't much conflict between the two, either from themselves or from others. Nothing felt forbidden, or as if anything would truly keep them apart, but their love was a comfortable love. It's definitely a read for those in a lighter mood, but it didn't really sparkle for me.

Engaging and easy to read but not too memorable.

Felicity Sutton, the sister of Duke of Colehaven, is a good mechanic and lady-smith. But she longs to be able to improve the life of impoverished children, and for that, she needs to forget about being blacksmith. She needs to land a rich husband who is willing to let her use the money for charity. Giles Langford is also a good blacksmith, and when they have to work together, Giles can't help to fall for Felicity. However, he cannot give her what she needs in terms of money, can't he?

For me, Erica Ridley is a dependable author; meaning I can pretty much rely on her stories to sweet and predictable. Nothing wrong with that formula in my opinion, because I know what I will get. This one is another sweet story. I like that Ridley is not really strict with historical rules too because I totally down with modernity in my HR. Like Felicity being a lady-smith in this. Let me fantasize that can happen easily *laugh*

I think Felicity and Giles make a great partnership. And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the brothers-sisters relationship of Felicity and Colehaven, as well as Giles' loving parents. I'm all for great family, people! So yes, this one is enjoyable for me

One Night to Remember by Erica Ridley
Wicked Dukes Club #5

Believable? Perhaps not
Splendid story? Without a doubt
Did I enjoy it? Every word of it

Giles Langford and Felicity Sutton have much in common as far as their interest in carriage making goes but nothing at all in common in social status. Felicity’s brother, Duke of Colehaven, has a race to win and asks Giles to check out the mechanics of his vehicle and then drive drive it in the race BUT with the stipulation that Giles work side by side for two weeks with Felicity to ensure that his curricle will be the winner.

I adored Giles and his ability to accept Felicity for who she was and also his ability to encourage her to embrace being that person rather than the one she is trying to force herself into being. I found him to be lovable and giving and charming and really almost perfect. I found Felicity to be wise and loving and eager to help others while very focused on ensuring her future. With Felicity’s childhood being difficult it is easy to see why she would feel she has to choose a husband with a title and money but will it be enough once s he has met and spent time with Giles? Together Giles and Felicity are perfect and I could hardly wait for them to realize they were meant to be together!

I had a smile on my face reading this book and have a smile on my face as I write this review. Again, I doubt that Felicity’s story is one many if any women lived in the time period this book is set BUT it makes a splendid short read that gave me pleasure today.

I know this series is coming to an end soon and that makes me a bit sad. I have enjoyed every book in this series so far and eagerly wait to read Rector Hugh Tarleton’s story when it is ready.

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

ONE NIGHT TO REMEMBER by Erica Ridley is book 5 in the Wicked Dukes Club Series. This is the story of Giles Langford and Felicity Sutton. This can be a standalone book if you wish to do this.
Felicity and her brother have know poverty, harsh conditions and no food. But now in the present day her brother is a Duke and poverty is a thing of the past but never far from her mind. So much so she feels she needs to make a good match at marriage to double ensure that she is away from such conditions again. But Felicity does have the goal to help other too. Giles has no titles but he is knows as the 'Curricle King' who is asked to help the Duke of Colehaven with his Curricle. The Duke of Colehaven has a race that he needs to win, so he puts Giles and his sister working closely together to make sure its in winning shape. Giles is put working closely with Felicity who is the Duke's sister where their feelings start to grow.
Enjoy their story.

This was one of my favourite books in this series so far. It was good to feature a commoner, Giles Langford, a blacksmith, who was also a crack racing driver and handsome too. Felicity was now the sister of a duke but had come from humble beginning. She shared, with Giles, a common enthusiasm and skill in working with mechanical machines. Felicity is trying to find a suitor that will meet both her and her brother’s expectations. However, Giles and Felicity, have shared interest in common, not to mention shared kisses. Unfortunately, Giles hasn’t a title. This is a lovely story of an unconventional lady of this time.

One Night to Remember was another excellent installment in the Wicked Dukes Club series.

Giles Langford, known as the Curricle King for his racing abilities, is more than willing to race for the Duke of Colehaven when asked. When Colehaven mentions he has his own mechanic he wants Giles to work with, Giles thinks nothing of it until he discovers the mechanic in question is Colehaven’s sister Felicity. Felicity never feels more like herself than when she’s working in a forge but having experienced poverty firsthand, she is willing to give it up to marry a wealthy suitor. But first she is determined to see Colehaven’s curricle win in the upcoming race meaning she will have to work closely with Giles, a man who intrigues her more than any she’s met before.

At first glance one would think Felicity was shallow due to her desire to marry a wealthy man, but upon learning her reasons why it becomes clear that is anything but the case. Prior to her brother inheriting, Felicity and Cole were extremely poor which is something Felicity never wants to experience again. But more than that, Felicity is determined to help other children in circumstances similar to her own which I thought was a very admirable pursuit.

Giles has known his entire life that he wanted to be a carriage smith having grown up learning at his father’s side. After his father becomes ill, Giles is forced to take over the family business long before he is ready to do so. But through his hard work and determination, plus his racing abilities, Giles has grown the business to become one of the best in the city.

Felicity and Giles work well together professionally which only enhances their personal relationship in my opinion. Giles doesn’t think less of Felicity, or her abilities, because she’s a woman and in fact he quickly comes to realize just how talented she is. I loved that Giles encouraged her and how Felicity was able to be her true self when she was with Giles. Their conversations are full of banter and I loved the scenes where the two worked together in Giles’ shop. The chemistry between them is simply fantastic and when their relationship progresses physically it is very well done.

Overall I really enjoyed One Night to Remember and I’m looking forward to reading the final book in the series soon. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a series of quick historical romances.

A quick fun read. Giles Langford is a Blacksmith with no title and no wealth. Felicity is the sister of a Duke and is to do what is expected of a lady who is to marry well in the ton. That all sounds well and nice, but Felicity is a firecracker of a girl who has her own mind and does what she wants.

Felicity works on her brother's curricle, in secret, keeping it in tip top shape. The Duke of Colehaven, Felicity's brother, hires Giles to assist in getting his curricle in top form for an upcoming race, but he also tells him that Felicity will be his partner in the endeavor. At first Giles isn't pleased until being without her is worst than being around her.

I laughed with this one. The banter between Giles and Lord Felix (Felicity in disguise) was great. Felicity found a man, not from the ton, to love and accept her. I was pleasantly surprised how much love and support Cole offered to his sister. Felicity was always afraid of letting him down. Her brother came through for her in the end.

That wicked man (I forget his name) who cheated at the race, I wanted, for him, a duel to the death!
Read this Series. You won't be disappointed.

One Night to Remember is the fifth book in the Wicked Dukes Club series. Lady Felicity Sutton is on a mission to find herself a husband. After 6 seasons she has decided that this is her year. Her main requirements are that he must be titled, wealthy and willing to support her charitable dreams of helping the waifs and strays of London. As the only sister of the Duke of Colehaven you wouldn’t think she would have much difficulty finding any number of suitable candidates but at the grand old age of 24 has she left it too late?

Giles Langford is feted throughout London as the curricle King and is also the owner of the premier smithy in London mainly thanks to the patronage of Colehaven so when he is commissioned by him to represent him in a race he doesn’t say no. When he first meets Felicity at the Duke’s carriage house he mistakes her for a stable lass but soon comes to respect her knowledge of carriage mechanics and eventually fall in love with her. But nothing can come of it. After all what would a blacksmith have to offer a Lady even though when you strip away the title and wealth, they have the same values and aspirations in common?

I loved the role reversal in this book. For once it’s not the Hero marrying “beneath his station” so to speak. Felicity is torn between pleasing her brother while at the same time also fearing going back to the poverty of her childhood or following her heart and choosing the man who will make her happy. Like with the rest of the books in this series, there is no angst or drama in One Night to Remember. Indeed this is one of those books that you know will leave you with a warm glow and smile on your face when you reach the end.

This is a thrilling, romantic and intriguing story that is full of action and drama. Felicity is trying to find a husband, but the man must agree to her demand about giving to charities, with the hope of starting a foundation for children, but as yet she hasn't found one. She has one last man that interested her, Lord Raymore, a wealthy, older man whom she likes. But that's her night job, her day job is the design and maintenance of her brother Cole's racing carriage. She's the reason he wins, but he's given her one last race to ready for before she must give it up and be a lady full time. Giles is the best carriage driver, he never loses, so Cole hires him for the race, and then tells him that he must work with Felicity on the carriage. At first he isn't pleased, but the longer he's around her, the more he likes and respects her. He also earns her admiration, he's the only person besides her brother who likes her as her, and he's a kind, generous and caring man. It's the perfect match for both of them, but Cole wants Felicity to marry well, and she wants wealth to spread. The end of the story is unexpected, and the best part is when she walks into Wicked Duke. This whole series belongs on everyone's TBR list.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Notorious whip Giles Langford aka The Curricle King is surprised to learn he’ll be working with Lady Felicity sister of the Duke of Colehaven on preparing a carriage for a curricle race, and horrified to discover he’s fallen in love with the impossible-to-tame woman anyway. Felicity Sutton knows poverty firsthand, and she’s never going back. She might miss the smithy, but not the relentless desperation of no home and an empty belly. Of course she’ll accept the stability of a wealthy ton suitor.
Another page turning enthralling read. The trope of the characters from different classes falling in love isn’t new but it tends to be a nobleman & a down at heels female here the tables are somewhat turned & it's a society lady, even though she’s happier in breeches, & a blacksmith. I loved the different slant added to it that Felicity had known hardship & I was one happy reader. Strong characters & a well paced story meant I read the book in two sittings. I’m loving the books in this series & how well the two authors have meshed their stories.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Races, a smithy, and disguises make Felicity’s story such a unique one. The moment the met and were forced to work together there was a spark between them and it got stronger as every day went by. Anyone that saw them together knew they were meant to be together, but it wasn’t until that race that they both knew. The scene in the club was one of the best ever! This story is one of my top favorites ever.

Felicity has dreams of starting a charity to help children and only one man will make her brother happy and support her dream. But once she meets Giles her heart changes her plans. I love her from the first time she was introduced in this series. Her eyes are opened to a different way of life that could give her the best of both worlds.

Giles may not have a title or the money of the ton, but he lives a comfortable life. He shows Felicity that she can have what her heart wants without giving up true self. I loved him more and more every time he raised her up with his works and how he was with his parents.

If you like your Regency romance to stick to strict social norms then you may have trouble with the Duke’s sister and the carriage smithy. If, however, you can embrace the possibility then this story will fill you with the pleasure of an interesting story and a great romance. This is the fifth book in the series and it doesn’t disappoint. Once again there is a strong female character and a man who doesn’t want her to change, he wants her to be herself.
Felicity is afraid of poverty and not being able to keep her promise to herself about helping poor children. She knows what it is like to have nothing. She thinks that the only way she can achieve her aims is to hide her true nature and marry a wealthy peer.
Things begin to change when she meets and works with Giles. The smithy is where she feels most like herself, working as a lady mechanic. Getting the most out of her brother’s racing curricle brings these two together. There are some great descriptions of the races and the tension created by a cheating driver.
Action packed and with a satisfying ending, this book can stand alone, but reading the other books in the series just adds that extra level of connection to the characters.

This was an absolutely delightful book to read!! I thought it was such a unique story, with the heroine being a blacksmith, as well as trying to be a lady when not wearing men's clothes! lol

I adored the hero, Giles Langford, and I loved the interactions between him and Felicity. He is so different from other men in that era who thought ladies had their place. He accepts and respects her for who she is.

Felicity Sutton is trying to find a Duke or Earl to marry, to please her brother as well as to have money to help the poor children and although she's extremely attracted to Giles, he doesn't have a title or great wealth.

There's also a race to win and the race itself is so well written, I could just picture it all in my mind as I was reading:) Lots of excitement!! I really do think this one is my favorite of the series so far, although all the others have also been wonderful.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I received an advance reader’s copy of this book.

I adored this book. The story is well-written and the pacing was maintained throughout.

This was a fun read. Felicity is caught between expectations placed on her and who she is at her core. To further complicate things, based on her poor upbringing, she also has a desire for a secure future. Giles owns a smithy and while surprised to discover Felicity is a blacksmith, he is open minded and accepts her expertise. He falls in love with Felicity but aware of his lack of a title and wealth, knows he has little if anything to offer Felicity.

There were some cute scenes that made me smile. I did feel there wasn’t much angst during the black moment and the ending came together quickly.

Overall, I enjoyed the characters and the setup for this story.

I enjoyed the story of Felicity and Giles a little too much. It is funny, unpredictable and thrilling.
I fell in love with Giles who was not in the market for a romance, but unexpectedly find love with the society lady, or a Lady mechanic.
I liked Felicity, because her past forged her cold and hard as iron, strong and unbreakable, and because of that past she would do anything to help children who could not help themselves.
She was not in the market for love poems, she would marry wealthy, titled lord just to have opportunity to make difference. But.....Giles will show her that pots of gold and blue-blood titles aren't the only characteristics you should look for in a man.
Recommendation for all who love reading funny and romantic stories.

After reading the previous two books in the Wicked Dukes Club series, I was looking forward to reading Giles's story.

A wager, racing and the love for tinkering with carriages brings together a blacksmith and a Duke's sister. Giles and Felicity have to work together for two weeks to perfect Felicity's brother's carriage for a race. While they are partners, they come to love each other and respect the other's talent.

The story was refreshing and great. I always am up for reading a romance that involves a non-titled gentleman. But (and a huge But here) .. I did feel that the language and instances sounded modern for a historical romance. As a avid reader of historical romance, this was jarring and took away my enjoyment of a cute romance.
