I started this series last year and glad I didn’t finish it so I can still enjoy it. I love anything involving the Greek gods so knew I would love this series. I usually do not read books were men write the women, but D.S Murphy writes about powerful women and Kaidance is a badass.

Great story, needs more proofreading

I'm enthralled with this series. I've devoured the books and thoroughly enjoyed them. That said, they have been filled with spelling and grammatical errors. I happily offer my services to proofread the next installment to ensure an error-free edition.

I wanted to give this more than 3 stars, but the spelling and grammar errors are atrocious. These books need edited before they’re published.

I was introduced to this author when I read the first in the series, The Scarlett Thread. I loved everything about it. It was unique in every way that mattered. I loved his ability to say so many things, without going in to monotonous detail...for example, he was able to give us a clear picture of what Kai's childhood was like and how she ended up in the home, without making it a major focus or taking us chapters and chapters of the book...he gave us what we needed to know and managed to input all of the typical emotions and feelings that are associated with it and yet we weren't forced to go through every detail which if isn't the basis of the story can get old. I found this intriguing and was caught and by the time I got to the part where I realized he was telling a completely unique version of heaven and hell and demons and angels, I was caught in his web and have been reading ever since! His stories are enthralling and filled with adventure, awesome gadgets and technology and through book two, I was able to follow where he was going and how he pulled the different groups together. Now, I gave it four starts based on how much I enjoy this unique perspective, but I do have a few minor wishes. In the third book, I felt like there should have been more character development with each other. The relationships between Kai and the Gods at Nevah were still just as much a mystery as in the first book to both Kai and us. The relationships between everyone really, seemed to stay at a stalemate and I haven't figured out why. Her romance with Sitri is very wishy washy and what happened to Puriel's obvious romantic feelings toward her? They were never addressed or discussed again after she talked to him in his cell, when he returned as the hero for killing Athena...no more caught looks, no scenes where he went out of his way to protect her....i mean, he FELL for her and just because she showed some obvious attraction towards Sitri...what? I really had settled down for a juicy love triangle only for it to completely fizzle. You get a glimpse of developing friendships between Jessica and the seekers, but then see no side of her learning from them...its really as if Jessica is just there as a friend, but there are hints like it should be more...there is one scene where he kind of threw in her unlocking the jail cell's in Egypt, but then it was never mentioned again...so while I appreciated his skill at the beginning of the series in the beginning of the series in areas we didn't need a play by play, I feel like he needs to spend more time and really let us get a sense of who the characters are. Its book three and we still have no idea, who is friend or foe, who she can rely on and who she can't. The synopsis for book 2 read as if was going to be a trilogy, but by the end of book 3, we know its going to be more than that. So unless he tends it to be an ongoing series, he doesn't have a lot of time left to do this without hurrying it and cramming to much in. Though I want to say loud and clear, my preference would be for a book double the length of this one than for the story to end without all of this happening. Its also a little frustrating how long it takes for the next book to come out..at this rate it is about a book a year. And yes, us readers have gotten spoiled in the digital age and authors who can deliver quickly, but that is the world we live in! Im literally dying to see what happens next...admittedly the book has been out since Jan of 2019 and Im just getting to read it, but honestly I had forgotten all about the series and waiting for the book to come out. If I hadn't stumbled across an old reminder list of books to come, I may not have ever seen it...I go through a lot of books in a year and despite following the author, you miss notices sometimes. Regardless of the wait, these first three books in the series are worth the read and should be put on anyone's list if they are into the Greek Gods and mythology and love stories that are endless and spur revenge and destruction with the unlikely characters as the heroine and heroes! This is a must read.
a small suggestion would also be to have it go through a more strenuous editing process, I honestly can't remember if this was the case in each of the previous books, but there were a few grammatical errors and a couple of places that I felt sure were named in error. Not enough to make me put the book down, but enough for me to mention it so the author can make a great read even better!

I love this series. It’s such a comfort to me. I don’t even understand why it’s like such a comfort to me but it is. I own the first three and I finished the second one only yesterday and now the third one today. These books re nowhere near perfect but that doesn’t matter cause I freaking love them. This one had a lot of grammatical errors. A part of me actually liked that because I liked that I noticed them lol. God I hate love triangles. I’m still rooting for Puriel which sucks because I know she already made up her mind about Sitri a long time ago. I love Puriel though. I had a feeling that it was Zeus she has sex with. It was too rough. Not romantic enough for it to be Sitri. And also for him to just flip a switch like that didn’t make sense that abruptly. I’m so upset right now that I don’t have the next book. I never want this series to end. I’m scared it will though. It isn’t popular at all which a big part of me loves that but also that means that there may not be enough money to continue with the series. I am trying not to get sad about it. I get so invested in stuff when I love it. And this series I seriously fully adore and love. Like so much. It’s so creative and a mix of history, murder, love and plotwists. It’s so exciting. I don’t want it to ever end. And I hate love triangles they are going to get me so upset each time. I know I shouldn’t love Puriel the way I do because they kind of stopped giving him and Kaidence those moments but I still do. And I feel so bad for him. Maybe that’s why I love him more. It’s a possibility for sure. Anyways I don’t want this series to ever end.

There were a few moments I liked with this book. The adventure was nice and the sense of friendship was good. However, the characters and some of the wording was awkward. The words like “bedchamber” just felt really out of place.

The drama with Zeus is honestly just not interesting and I feel like the power level of Kai feels too flawless for someone who is still a teenager who can barely manage to take care of herself. Then there is the big plot point in the end that involves a non-con moment which is a massive ick. Would have loved some content warning at the beginning or something. I hate the relationships that the author is even trying for to begin with.

The dialogue seems juvenile or maybe drawn towards a younger audience while the plot is targeted toward adult topics. There are a few grammar issues but nothing too bad. I just didn’t care for the book in general.

Kai finally realises what a threat Zeus really is, as she tries to kill him but sees all the other threads he has wound up with his own and realises Sitri's is one of them. Zeus is using her love for Sitri to keep her from killing him, but he is threatening Nevah and killing innocent citizens to do this. Sitri, Puriel and Jessie join Kai as they travel to Egypt in search of Isis and the Emerald Tablet. However Hera the Wife of Zeus is out to kill both Isis and Kai, who she thinks are lovers of Zeus. The trip to Egypt is fraught with danger as they rob a museum, take a dive under the ocean in search of the sunken palace of Cleopatra, to find the Eye of Horus, which they need to be able to access the emerald tablet and it's knowledge. Every step of the way they are harassed by hunters who endanger their lives, however Kai is becoming better at handling the threads of life. She is also head over heels in love with Sitri and this is putting her more in danger as Zeus knows this, and he wants Kai and what he wants he usually gets!! I love the action packed story but was totally unprepared for the surprise ending. Wow cannot wait to read book 4 of this magical and mythological series full of the rage and vengeance of the Gods who use others indiscriminately to wage their war!

Fast paced, rich history, complex plot a great series for any YA or Adult young at heart!

I flew through this trilogy in 3 days unable to put it down. The dedication to the plot, even through the weight of research, gives you such abundant insight into the characters and deities that litter the series. You're drawn to the heroine in such a deep love hate relationship. You love her mind, her heart, her strong morals and you hate her naivety, her self deprecation, her blindness to the negativity unfolding around her. You're caught up in such a whirlwind of passion, humor, and adventure that when you finish the 3rd book and realize the Author isn't finished with this tale you morn the months/years that it will take for him to discover and reveal the end. A must read for any young adult or adult that is young at heart.

Mr. Murphy please ask your muse to give your mind wings so this story can unfold as fate wishes and as quickly as you're able.

So Much Action, Tension & Destruction!⚡🔪😲💥
The War Has Begun!😳✂💥
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
The Emerald Tablet (Fated Destruction Book #3)

We meet Zeus properly & Hera for the first time in this book, neither are a pleasure & likely deserve each other!😕 After claiming the shears she has fulfilled part of her bargain with the watcher, there are unexpected consequences to his 5 years he's claimed!😳 Kai trains harder than ever so she can try to find a way to unlink Sitri from Zeus's life line thread. It takes them on a journey to Egypt to find Isis & her emerald tablet. Unfortunately her need to save one person may end up costing many lives, even though she viewed the God's thoughts on collateral damage as barbaric!😔

I can't seem to find book #4??😱💔😭

Why on earth was the name changed from the Emerald Tablet to the Sapphire Tablet? What's the point? And especially after the book has been out for months? Murphy's books are still chock full of spelling and grammatical errors, which is really inexcusable in this day and age. Just run spell check and grammar check, it's not that hard. The lack of editing is just lazy.

There was a major plot-point (which I won't spoil here, but involved a deception leading to non-consent), that was a huge turn-off for me. I'm going to finish this series because I want to see how it ends, but I won't be reading anything else from DS Murphy.

The Emerald Tablet is the third book in this entertaining supernatural fantasy YA series. This series is clearly inspired by the Percy Jackson series, but it still works well. However, the game of capture the flag feels a bit too close for comfort. I really liked the character of Isis and hope she is included more in the upcoming book(s). Each ends in a cliffhanger, so be prepared to continue the series.

Contains a fairly descriptive sex scene, violence and language. Recommended for older teens and adults.

The narrator does a nice job with the audiobooks and is well suited to the character.

The gods await you

All 3 books in this series are a lecture in the ancient gods and the way they lived their lives.
Combine this with a chosen human girl, with the potential power to win a battle that was started many millennium ago.
Think of it, god friends helping you to gain knowledge exploring the ancient world for the clues you need for your power. Other gods trying to kill you or bring you to their side.
These books are a lot of fun to read. I can't wait for the 4th to come out.

Great read

A practice war. Skills learned. Kai draws closer to Sort it Able causes friction. A quick trip to Egypt so much more.

Although storyline keeps you drawn in, I find that the author's grammar is interfering. At least she's consistent. The use of the word "further" when she means "farther" and the lack of missing words was rampant in this book. It takes away.from the story and that's why I have only 3 stars.

So far, so good

The story continues along without any real advancement. This one is more about discovery, but that is okay. The final chapter should wrap it all up. I must admit, I have no idea where this going as it continues to walk the fine line. I'm looking forward to the next book.

What happens next?????

This series has me hooked. The story is engaging and the characters memorable. It was great to revise the stories from Mythology and get to know the Gods personally. I can't wait for the next book and the next one after it. I am sure the conclusion is going to be explosive. Definitely worth buying. This author is one of my favorites.

This took me a little while to get into since I've read so many books after Golden Shears, but once things started coming back it was good. I did feel it may have been a bit too in depth with the histories, but I still enjoyed it. I hope to not have to wait so long for the final installment.

It gets slow when the characters take a trip down a millennia worth of memory lane. I was disappointed that the book ended in yet another cliff hanger with no hope of another book. Sure the editors need to be fired for a sloppy job but overall worth a read. Now where is the rest of it?

Not my favorite of Mr. Murphy's books but still very good. I will certainly be reading the next one in this series. The end certainly made me want to keep going.
