a slower read
This volume was super busy. It was a bit hard to focus on the story. It’s a fun idea but it was just really crowded.

Although it's not quite as strong a volume as the previous, Clara attempting to be sexy and fluffy Kalego make it for me.

Iruma’s very popular now, which doesn’t sit well with Clara when the student council president, Ameri, is chasing after him. Then it’s time to pick a club, or battler, which leads to both a new friend and an old trope.
So, I’m going to keep beating my drum that I do not at all dislike this series. Its earnestness and ‘be nice and it’ll all work out’ message make it kind of a breath of fresh air at times, honestly.
In fact, the opening chapter where Clara decides that she wants Iruma to fall in love with her and enrolls herself for succubus lessons gets things off with a bang, as Clara is about as seductive as a dirty mop.
The whole thing is the perfect excuse for an endless stream of sight gags and silliness, but one that doesn’t forget to have the pretty welcome message that just being yourself can work wonders. And, as usual, it’s amazing that Clara is not insanely annoying but instead a great secondary character (her familiar training is great).
The rest of the volume is okay, but utterly harmless. I have two major bones of contention, which are definitely my own personal griefs and might not bother most people who are into this.
One, I don’t feel like I ever need to see Sullivan, Iruma’s adoptive grandfather, ever again. Amongst a panoply of characters with one character trait exactly, his is the one that has already worn utterly thin and I’m pretty bored when he shows up.
And, yes, the art is still not to my tastes. There’s just something about its style that doesn’t feel… professional enough? That’s absolutely ridiculous - I couldn’t draw one of the eyeballs in this series, let alone anything else - but so it goes. It does make me wonder if the anime might actually wind up being my preferred version if I watched more of it.
The other stuff is relatively enjoyable. The ‘demons are basically humans’ premise has some legs and I like the way Iruma is becoming more and more of his own person and making his own choices.
When he finds a kindred spirit in the magical devices club (I refuse to use the word battler, sorry manga), it’s a nice moment where Iruma wants to help somebody in the same boat as him. And his friends are along for the ride as they begin to work on a display that’ll really impress people.
It’s a good little story. I don’t mean to dump on it too much - it’s a genuinely satisfying read that I don’t regret getting into, but it’s not in the upper echelons of my reading list. A keeper, but with reservations.
3 stars - but, as I often qualify such reviews, the good kind of three stars. I’m going to enjoy this on a fundamental level, no worries there, but it only occasionally gets to the level I want it to be at.

Desde el tercer tomo la trama ya empieza a tomar forma. Recuerdo que cuando vi esto en el anime, fue el momento en que quedé totalmente enganchada con esta serie.
Me gusta que a pesar de ser una historia muy slice of life escolar, tenga una subtrama política interesante. De aquí, solo mejora, sin olvidar el humor característico que tiene la obra.

This is the last of the Iruma-kun volumes that I picked up for a trial run. Although I gave them all three stars, I enjoyed them. The art doesn't particularly impress me, whether the characters or backgrounds, but the situations are inventive, the humor hits well, and the characters are cute and naïve in a way that feels appropriate for their age.
The character designs get mildly horny at times, but since Iruma himself is oblivious to the fact that two cute girls are falling all over him, it's a little easier to take. I'll continue with this one soonish!

I thought I'm going to be bored by now, but nope completely the opposite, I love this series more and more. I laugh out loud a lot with this one. So much happening. Clara take Succubus class and Iruma join a battler/school club (there's a mystery in here that I can't wait to find out in the next volume, sus characters), but the highlight for me is Familiar Class, just pure laughter in that chapter, I just can't forget Kalego as a familiar, it's just priceless, his expression is chef's kiss, I adore him as a grumpy cute super strong familiar.
Overall entertaining read through and through.

This is the perfect example of anime being better than manga.
I realized I actually prefer that there would be no romance in this manga. Like the plot, and friendship is entertaining enough. And I feel like romance between Iruma and Ameri is just there for the romance when it just fine with them being friends. 🤷♀️

This volume about Clara and the Battlers is so cute. Clara just wants to be noticed as more than a goof, and she doesn’t realize that Iruma sees all of her. The Magical Apparatus Battler is so fun, but we haven’t seen Kiriwo’s dark side yet. And we got to see Kalego as a familiar again. So excited to continue my reread of this amazing series.

I watched the anime before reading the manga, and I remember this was the part where I got hooked on the series. The way Kirio is introduced is wonderful and it's all going to get very exciting soon :3c

Muy normalito comparado con los otros dos tomos, no se me ha hecho tan interesante ni gracioso.
Los giros de guión no me han dejado con el ansía por seguir leyendo, sino que me he quedado bastante templada.

Another great volume. Plus the introduction of some higher ranking demons and an evil plot continues to make this more interesting. I like all the slice of life moments with Iruma and the gang too, though. Onto the next!

Toujours aussi fun, même si les choses commencent à devenir sérieuses, avec les Batora. De nouveaux personnages font leur apparition et on en apprend un peu plus sur le fonctionnement de l'enfer.
