Jenna Dewan’s book Gracefully You: How to Live Your Best Life Every Day is an easy, relatable book that I read in one sitting a few days ago. While the topic is more focused on self rather than home, the style of this book reminded of Reese Witherspoon’s Whiskey in a Teacup and also included many pretty photos.

I appreciated Jenna’s honesty throughout the book. While it’s good to try to get “you” time in every day, it sometimes doesn’t happen as we have competing priorities and limited time. I was disappointed to hear Jenna and Channing Tatum’s divorce announcement in 2018, as they seemed like a great couple and I’m a fan of both of them, individually. She was honest in talking about how painful their split was and how it took her time to really process the various emotions resulting from this. I’ve always admired Jenna’s put together persona and polite attitude, but her willingness to show vulnerability and be human here was also greatly appreciated.

What stuck with me the most from Gracefully You is Jenna’s recommendations to 1) set your intentions for the day - We can’t always control what happens, but we can control how we plan to approach what comes our way. It’s about having and keeping the right mindset, and to 2) engage in manifestation visualization.

”I’ve learned that ultimately it comes down to a few simple things: the personal bond you have with yourself, your relationship with nature, and your connection to a presence ... I now know that when you stop searching outwardly and start looking and working within is when you learn who you truly are and understand what it is you need and want in order to live your best life.“

[October 17, 2019] I love Jenna! She is a person with lots of beautiful energy, I would love to read her book.
[November 12, 2019] I got her book! It's so beautiful! Full of pretty photos and recipes and exercises.

This book is a mix between a memoir, a heartbreak book, and magic. Jenna took us through a ride through her life from childhood till now. Focusing on her career as a dancer, being an actress, her roles as mom and wife, her relationships and divorce, her travels and discoveries, and her belief in the occult, witchcraft and energy, exercise, recipes, and mantras. I loved the many information she added to mine, I wanted to exchange information with her and maybe send her some gifts from our part of the world from scents to herbs.

I loved Jenna in Take the Lead (though she didn't get a lot of scenes after edits, but I love the last tango), Step Up and Witches of East End (sadly she didn't talk about it at all, though I thought the role resembles her actual life.).

I picked this up on a whim, not thinking it would be much more than fluff and I was pleasantly surprised. Basically she covers everything I’ve suddenly found myself interested in the last year - meditation, spirituality, sacred spaces, breathing exercises, oracle cards and even a few recipes.

Review to come. I'll probably fall between a 3 and 3.5 star rating for this part self-care, part autobiographical coffee table book. It's a nice read overall, with some helpful recipes and practices for mindfulness and health. Yet some parts of this still left me wanting more from the experience.

From actress and dancer Jenna Dewan comes a vibrant message of how to elevate your life and experience beauty every day. Gracefully You: Finding Beauty and Balance in the Everyday (Gallery Books) is an insightful vision for anyone who wants to feel better, focus on what’s important, and maintain a sense of balance – all with strength and grace.

“When it comes to living in that flow of energy we all love and strive for, to achieve the feeling of ‘I’m so grateful and joyful and life is supporting me,’ I’ve learned that ultimately it all comes down to a few simple things: the personal bond you have with yourself, the relationship you have with nature, and your connection to a greater presence.”

Dewan provides mantras to elevate your daily routine into something that excites you. She describes how to create the home into a sanctuary that inspires, how to nourish the body with positive food choices, and enrich your soul with self care, meditation and crystals. She is a certified Reiki healer and teaches how anyone can apply simple touch to help themselves feel better.

“I began writing this book in the midst of the craziest year of my life,” writes Dewan. “I went through a divorce, lost my beloved dog Lulu, and stood by the side of one of my best friends as she lost her battle with cancer.

38. Gracefully You • Jenna Dewan //my first ever audio book 😌 and whilst I really enjoyed this, I must also acknowledge I did find it a little stressful and prefer to actually read in silence. However, that aside, what a beautifully empowering and inspiring book on how to be nothing but your imperfectly perfect self 💓 my top takeaways are 👇 •It’s all about balance •you live your best life when you start focusing and working on what you have within rather then searching outwardly •Set intentions based on how you want to feel •Find the positive in the scenario •Your in the driver seat •you can’t control what’s around you, but you can control how you feel about it •We all got our own crazy going on •Book refuel nights and be your own best friend •Less is more, Declutter your life •Focus on strength not size •Don’t compare •Honour your boundaries and speak your truth •Choose grace •Every experience is truly an opportunity for growth •After the rain there is always a rainbow •be unapologetically you 4/5 ⭐️ #anaudiobook

The shared rituals, recipes, and tools were really nice. Also, the mindful and kind parenting tips were also a great part of the book. I didn't really mind most of the book but definitely found myself skipping parts of it.

Very new age, which I loved. This is a very quick read, but I was able to glean quite a bit of good information from. Very positive, and left me wanting to seek out positive energy, and recharge.

I knew going into this that this book wouldn’t be my cup of tea lol. I got it just for Jenna lol.

My favorite parts of the book were definitely the more autobiographical parts, specifically the last two chapters.

The other stuff about her holistic approaches etc. could be interesting to read and were informative. It’s a very LA white woman type thing, so I didn’t get great enjoyment from it but then again I didn’t expect that.

I liked the pictures in here. She looked beautiful! Though I wish there had been more settings/looks for it.

Overall I did enjoy it, maybe even slightly more than I thought. Regardless I am proud of Jenna.

Gracefully You by Jenna Dewan.

WOW !

I do have a soft spot for self-help books, so it is not that out of reach that I absolutely am in love with this book.
She is very graceful in writing it. And seems very down to earth. It never felt as if she was trying to impose her beliefs in anyone. It actually pointed out several times that it is not about following some trend, or some rituals. It is about finding what is best for you. Finding what works for you. Acknowledging you experience in life, and looking within.

This book is full of post its, with quotes that resonated with me.
I followed only one or two of her recommendations, but I feel like I am part of her women tribe now (not that she has one, but I want to be part of it).

She is a role model for me. I am glad I found this book in my local thrift store. I will cherish it.
It will be my new bedside table book. And it is gorgeous as well.

Please read this book !

I came across this book in Target, not even knowing that Jenna Dewan had written a book. I’ve sort of been following her for a little while since she’s a vegetarian dancer (like myself) and I loved her on Witches of East End! As I started flipping through the pages at Target, I realized that I was really drawn to reading it so I bought it! Wow! I didn’t realize that Jenna is basically a more famous, much prettier, and better dancing version of me! 😂😂 Seriously though, I feel like I could have written a lot of this book...we have very similar outlooks on life and are into the same things (in addition to vegetarianism and dancing, we are both into essential oils, crystals, and same spiritual outlook as well as similar views on parenting) and I loved reading her story as well as a reminder of what I treasure most in life!

I was looking forward to this book, but after reading it was sadly disappointed. I was expecting it to be more profound, a truly relatable book for women. It is a cute book, a fun/light/trivial read but it isn’t a book I could relate to, she came to know all these natural/herbal remedies/meditation styles in a typical LA way. How many women can just drop everything and go to Peru, also the herbs she uses are expensive and most people can’t afford her “lifestyle”. I was expecting it to be applicable and woke, it comes across as a woman with lots of time to dabble, who decided to write a book about her LA holistic regime.

I have to admit... I have no idea what made me want to purchase this book. I have known of Jenna's career for years, but never really was that much of a fan. I was very curious though to learn more to see what she's all about (especially after how she has handled the divorce). I absolutely loved (and I mean LOVED) this book. There is tons of advice that really hit home with me and I will carry with me in how I live the rest of my life. I am very surprised at how much I enjoyed this and how much I am taking away from it and would highly recommend this book. Hope she writes another one!

I just finished Gracefully You and I have to say, it was a very pleasant journey. This book was so much more than I expected. Yes there were autobiographical elements, but there were amazing chapters about mindfulness, meditation, recipes/healthy living, and so much more. I feel like this will be a book I will go back to again and again when I need a reminder of how to be more accepting of myself.

Not only is this book aesthetically pleasing, it is truly inspiring in the best way. I love that it incorporates poems, spirituality, lifestyle, and routines. It includes recipes, natural remedies, information about crystals, stories from Dewan's life, and so much more. Dewan teaches the reader how to check in with themself, how to establish grounding routines, and how to live gracefully. One of my favourite things I learned from this book is to set an intention for the day and how you want to feel that day. No one can plan how their day is going to go, but everyone can decide how they're going to approach the day.

I absolutely love her perspective of the world and how she blends modern living with spirituality.

- You have no control with the environment you're set to be in, but you have control over how you feel about it and how you react to it: only focus on things you can control

- Always take time to listen to your body: it's dangerous when you're out of sync with your body

- Unplug from devices 20 minutes before bed

- Often ask yourself "how are you feeling"?

- Fake it until you make it: clothes project who you are, and can even give you the authority that you might think you lack

- Trust your body more than your mind. Check in your heart, asks, "how is my heart feeling"?

This book totes the line between self-help and autobiographical well, and if you are considering reading it you will probably find something to take away from it. If you are into Jenna (I had no idea who she was) you should find the autobiographical parts interesting.
It has an L.A mentality and focus, so it's not completely relatable to the majority of people but it does demonstrate the humanity in the celebrity lifestyle.
I really couldn't get into it and won't remember I've read it in a few weeks.

A reminder of how to live gracefully by honoring sacred spaces, plant life, your unique mind (with all its emotion) and your body. She blends recipes, poetry, sage advice, spiritual offerings, and a few hippy dippy trinkets like crystals and oracle cards, to deliver a glossy book that elevates the soul. It was slightly self-promoting (actress stuff), but it highlights healthy tenets for living in a beautiful way. Good gift book.

I read this for the "Reuse a Prompt From A Past Year = A Book Published in 2019" Part of my 2020 reading challenge. I loved it, I thought it was beautiful and graceful and elegant just like her. Angel cards and crystals aren't my thing personally, but she covered them perfectly without being preachy and made them approachable. I enjoyed how she covered the stress of her career and the struggle of relationships while still being respectful. It was a very open minded and relaxing read.

I loved this so much, I went out and purchased my own copy. There is so many great ideas to try and some things that really clicked with me. I have already started implementing some of the suggestions into my daily routine (when I can) and have seen improvement in my outlook and the way I feel.

Fir me, this book was very well written. It came off as talking to a friend rather then a self-help book talking at me.

this book was not at all what i thought it was gonna be. i didn’t realize Jenna Dewan was so spiritual (not that it bothers me) but i just didn’t connect or relate to a lot of it. i did appreciate and agree with many things she said in the book especially about grace & getting through hard times but other than that, i didn’t get much from it. it is still an inspiration to see everything she’s accomplished especially during difficult times.

Notable lines/thoughts:

I bought Gracefully you on kindle because I'm going through some hard time in my life. I needed inspiration.

The book is easy to read and understand. It was interesting. It has beautiful quotes in it. I really enjoyed learning about crystals, essential oils and herbs.

I always wanted to find a greater connection and I think this was very helpful. At least to me.

This is such a beautiful book and you can actually feel the good energy in it. This book changed my feelings for the day, I felt happy and light reading it. It sounds strange but read it and see how you feel. Great insights into how to deal with difficult situations and just being spiritual. Loved it.
