A reasonably competent end for the saga: not much to say that was not already said before. Glad of the original Anakin Skywalker, though.

Sorry Hayden.

The artwork is just so bad through this whole series. Still hopeful for the last Manga adaptation, Phantom Menace, though!

"Really liked it!" - 4 out of 5 star rating.

Return of the Jedi (ROTJ)... but in anime/magna form!

I really like these significantly more than I did my other most recent Star Wars Magna adventure with Episode I - The Phantom Menace (TPM). The first thing that comes to mind as the reason why, is TPM was smashed into only two (2) ~80 page issues... where as here, we get four (4) 80-pagers, giving us around 180 pages for the film. Massive difference here. Literally twice the content.

Also my biggest complaint for the TPM Magna was it didn't feel "Japanese" enough and might as well not even had Magna on the cover page and should have just been advertised as a traditional American comic book.

Here in the ROTJ Magna, everything we know, love, and expect about Japanese culture in the form of Magna however, is absolutely 100% found here. There are times as well where you cannot help but pause and just sit there and reflect upon a page - just being so beautiful and incredibly high craftsmanship of illustration placed before you.

This Magna has really inspired me to rewatch the ROTJ movie, which I shall do here within the next week or so. Definitely towards to the top of my to-watch list now after this.

This concludes my Star Wars Magna run! Looking forward to my next upcoming Star Wars comic book adventure!

Quick impression: A very good manga adaption of the original Star Wars films, this specific volume covers the last segment of Return of the Jedi. Fans of Star Wars will likely enjoy this and the rest of the series (I've read other parts of it but never been able to find a full set). Very faithful to the original source. If you like manga, you will probably like this too.

On a side note, I think if Dark Horse (or anyone else) picked this up again and put it in an omnibus edition, they'd get some sales again.

Full review in my blog later.

**Warning: I'm going to assume that everyone reading this review has seen Return of the Jedi at least once. Therefore, I will not be employing any measures to hide spoilers.**

*The Gush*
See my review of Volume 1 for my complete positive comments on this series. This volume has some truly gorgeous artwork. I think my absolute favorite was the two full page spread of Vader's mask, cracked and worn before he decides to save his son from his Master's attacks. One can almost see the choice for redemption. The Star Destroyer colliding with the Death Star and the Death Star's destruction are amazingly detailed and so close you can almost feel it. The dialogue and the scenes again work together to almost give one the sense of hearing the soundtrack playing in the background as you read.

*The Rant*
For a full accounting of issues with the series, please see my review of the first volume. Some of the scenes in this volume are perhaps a bit overdrawn, with the characters almost distorted. Also, there is simply too much going on at a time, though that is not the volume's fault as the end of Return of the Jedi itself is chaotic and takes a couple of viewings before you really get what all is going on at the same time.

*Conclusion*
If you are a fan of Star Wars, read this and the other manga series. If you really love Manga in its many forms, read this.

Follows the script of ROTJ pretty much to the letter. The art is great (if you like manga, if not why are you reading this?) but at times the main characters (Luke, Han, & Leia) look a little too young and fresh-faced. Not that they were haggardly old beasts by this time but they weren't the babes of Episode IV, plus they had experience years of war and hardship. But that's just me being nitpicky. Still a great adaptation and I definitely recommend it to any Star Wars and/or manga fans.

**note: this manga has been flipped to read left-to-right (American style) so if that irks you then seek out something else to read**
