Absolutely loved this. It was so much fun to see Lucy, Nickolas, the whole gang and some new recruits as well.

Loved knowing what they were doing two years after the battle on Violet Hill. This is a must for any fan of the series.

Well, I would read this, but it seems to be out of print. Can you believe it? An ebook out of print. Oh the irony. It seems like several of the cutsie novellas are out of print. Is that a thing with ebooks? No one buys them, so the distributor stops offering them up?

Update 2020.
Finally read since some dear human told me where to find a copy.

This was a wonderful surprise to me! I was not aware that we were going to get some more Drake books! I enjoyed the story and how Lucy and Nicholas are living now. I was confused at first about who Aggie was until a friend told me she was new in this book, but I loved learning her history and seeing her mature throughout this little novella. Great addition to the series. Keep them coming Ms. Harvey!

The Longest Night is a short novella that is set about 6 years on from events in Blood Prophecy and it was absolutely fantastic to catch up with a 23 year old Lucy now she's out of school and doing her own thing.

Never one to settle for an easy life Lucy and Nicholas have opened up their home to take in troubled teenagers, both Helios-Ra and vampires alike. They have spent the last few years building cooperation between the vampires and the Helios-Ra but there will always be some who don't want to abide by the truce and those are the teenagers that Lucy is determined to help no matter how difficult they make her job. One particular teenager is really giving her grief - Aggie is a young girl who lost the sister who raised her in the Blood Moon massacre. She finds it impossible to trust any vampire and is convinced that they are all evil monsters who are just waiting for any chance to attack and she's more than willing to hurt them before they get a chance. Can Lucy persuade her that some vampires are good and sometimes it's the humans who are the monsters?

I loved getting the chance to catch up with older versions of Lucy and Nicholas along with some of the other characters like Solange, Kieran, Hunter and Quinn. I have to admit I wasn't so sure about the newer characters to start with though, Aggie in particular irritated me to start with but she really grows up throughout the story and I liked her by the end. I do think that the events in Blood Prophecy would have a long term effect on all the people who were caught on the sidelines so I enjoyed seeing that side of things explored. It made me sad that there was still so much bad blood between the Helios-Ra and the Drakes though, I had hoped the hunters would have learned their lesson and moved forward a little more.

The Longest Night was a nice addition to the series though, it's not a good place to start if you haven't read the books but if, like me, you're missing the Drakes and looking for another fix then I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

It has been 6 years since the Blood Moon battle, and Lucy, along with her boyfriend Nicholas, have set up a place where both vampires and Helios-Ra hunters who have problems with each other go, so they can get over their prejudices. Aggie, a Helios-Ra student, has been bought up by her sister to hate vampires but she particularly distrusts Cal, a vampire with burning blue eyes. As the winter solstice approaches and a new type of vampire hunter group are becoming more dangerous, Aggie and Cal have to work together to save their friends, and she must discover the real reason she thinks Cal is a threat.

The Longest Night is a good short story and it was nice to see some of my favourite characters back and to see what they have been up to since the last book. However, that being said, it felt like the characters had not matured much in the six years, and with how they acted it could have been set less than a year after the Blood Moon battle.

Aggie was an interesting character as she wants to live up to her deceased sister’s beliefs and decisions, but at the same time wants to make her own opinion on what is right and wrong. The romance in this book is good, but I wish there was more of Nicholas and Lucy as they are one of my favourite couples.

This is a really enjoyable novella, however I wish it was a bit longer. I would recommend The Longest Night to fans of the Drake Chronicles.

This was a fun novella. I'd loved seeing Lucy and Nick and some of the other characters in the Drake books, but I wish we got to see more Lucy and Nick since they were my favorite couple. This is set five years later and while I loved knowing what's happen to them since the last book, it felt like the charterers didn't act like they age much. They still read like they were in their teens. I also didn't seem to care as much about the newer characters and wanted to know more about the established characters I already love. I want a Lucy spin-off, I really do, I think it would be easier for Harvey to give more depth to where Lucy is now and how her newer characters fit in, also, Lucy and Nick has always had more potential out of all the characters. I think they could really make something happen if we ever get their books officially. A quick, cute and fun read. I've really missed this world!

Too Awesome. omg there is a lot of Lucy and Nicholas make out scene, especially one part where Nicholas say they dont have any alone time, or the part where Aggie walk in when they are making out. It great to see how the rest are doing after the ending of Blood Prophecy, everything is back to normal or so as what they say, there is a new group of anti-vampire trying to recruit human to kill, but why they cant see the fact that human and vampire can get along or let along be together forever. Anyway Love the book, so reading it again :)

This short story is great for letting us catch up with our favourite characters of the Drake Chronicles series, as they adults they had grown into. (Major spoilers:)As Lucy's parents went off to explore the world, she and Nick turned her parents' farm into a home for teenage delinquent hunters and vampires with anger issues. Trying to change the views of vampires and vampire hunters and get them together sounded like the kind of impossible thing Lucy would be hell-bent on doing. With her degree in social work and psychology, as well as being an instructor at Helios-Ra, she could do a lot of good when it comes to improving hunter-vampire relationships, something she had been working towards since she was a teen in the series. Hunter and Duncan are engaged, and their wedding is on the horizon.
While it was nice to see our favourite characters as adults, this story was actually more about Aggie, a girl who became a vampire hunter with her sister after their father was killed by a vampire. Then, as an independent hunter, (spoilers)her sister died during the Battle of Violet Hill. Following in her sister's footsteps, Aggie initially had a strict view about vampires, but it seemed Lucy was good at what she does, as Aggie's views against vampires start to soften.

I loved having a glimpses of the future with Lucy and Nicolas. Wish they had a larger role, also had Hunter and Quinn, Solange and Kieran had more of a presences as well. I so totally can see Lucy opening an trouble teen home. I'm glad Aggie finally opened her eyes see humans are just a dangerous as Vampires, and there was a love story for her.
I WISH there would be another book as a side story with Lucy and Nicolas asking family and friends to help bring down the whitehorn.
I was glad I found all the Drake novellas in the "Sweet Tooth: The Drake Chronicles" all bundled in one ebook!

“You know, most people collect stray dogs, not rabid homicidal teenagers.” Ofcourse Lucy would set up a halfway house for vamps and hunters with anfer management issues. Aggie and Cal are brilliant, as are some of the other young students. I liked seeing all of the main character from the series as adults (even if they are still all in their 20s). Most of all though I loved seeing the character development of Aggie. The only bad thing about this book was finishing it and realising there was nothing left. Still I would give this story more than 5 stars if I could.

This novella is set 6 years after Blood Prophecy. It was great reading about Lucy, Nicholas, Solange and Kieran and to see how they are living their lives.

I liked how Lucy and Nicholas have set up a makeshift kind of home for wayward teens that are a mix of vampires and hunters.

New characters are introduced and Aggie and Callahan are the main focus among these new faces.

An exciting novella that I enjoyed reading!

I love this world, and I love that we get to see what many of the characters are doing 6 years in the future. My one complaint is that there is no Logan in this novella. Or Isabeau. I need my stuck-in-the-wrong-century cinnamon roll and his badass girlfriend back.

Six years has passed since the Blood Moon. Hunter is an agent and teacher at the Helios-Ra Academy and engaged to Quinn. Lucy, with Nicholas' help, is trying to run a halfway house at her family farm for supernatural and non-supernatural teens. She tries to help them see the light when it comes to living together in harmony. Solange has been traveling the world with Kieran, but every year, they all meet up for the solstice in Violet Hill.

We then meet Aggie, a young girl living on Lucy's farm. Aggie and her sister Yen were left alone when they were young when their father was killed by a vampire. Yen, being the older sister, tried to take care of Aggie. Together, they would set traps and kill vampires night after night. Yen ends up going to the battle at Violet Hill, but she didn't make it out alive. Aggie was then left alone, but found her way to Helios-Ra and they took her in.

Aggie and Paige were hanging out in their room when all of a sudden Aggie finds her sister's stake on her pillow...the stake that has been missing since the day Yen died.

There is a new big bad group in town called Whitethorn. They are taking out vampires at any cost. No one knows who they are but the Drake crew is determined to find out. Apparently this group has contacted Aggie to try and recruit her to their group.

Aggie and Paige sneak into Lucy's office to sneak a peek at Calhahan's file (he's the vampire that Aggie has been butting heads with since she got to Lucy's farm). She finds out he was living alone in the woods until Isabeau found him and took him in. The next thing she knows, Lucy comes in and catches them. She tells Aggie that a necklace of vampire teeth were found under her pillow. The same necklace her sister Yen wore. That same night Kali (a vampire) goes missing from the farmhouse.

Aggie can't stand being in the house anymore and goes out for a walk. She doesn't realize the time and finds herself far from the farmhouse and the sun is setting. She starts to panic when Cal sneaks up on her. She tells him that she was looking for the battle site where her sister died and Cal takes her there. While on their way back, they are attacked by Hel-blar. Much to Aggie's surprise, Cal protects her and fights side by side to defeat the Hel-blar. On their way back after that, they come across Fletcher who appears wounded. He passes out and they bring him back to the farmhouse. From there, Nicholas brings him to the infirmary at Helios-Ra for observation.

They find Kali's clothes in the woods with a hole in the back of the shirt.

Aggie and Cal have their moment...he tells her that he can't stop thinking about her and that she must feel something too because she would have killed him by now if she really wanted to. Before the moment could go on even more Paige runs over to her and tells her that they found a suicide note from Aggie, confessing to the killing of Kali.

The Drake crew was sitting around a bond fire when a bag of Hypnos was popped above their heads. Lucy recognizes the voice but is helpless to do anything about it. They smell gasoline and see flaming arrows coming their way. Aggie, Cal and crew show up and try to come up with a rescue plan.

Aggie gets the hose and starts spraying. This draws out Fletcher. They are all confused but he explains that it was all part of his plan until "they" were ready. Apparently he has been working for Whitethorn and tells Aggie that her sister was also a member.

Cal and Aggie go after Fletcher. When Aggie catches up, she finds Cal pinned to a tree. She stands up for him and Paige swoops in and nails Fletcher in the leg with an arrow. Aggie goes over to Cal and they have the moment the book has been leading up to. While that is going on, the Drake crew is released from their hypnos trance and is able to overthrow all of the Whitethorn agents.

This takes place 6 years after the battle of Violet Hill and Lucy has now graduated. The gang is getting together for their annual winter solstice reunion. Lucy’s parents are on a world trip so Lucy, with Nicholas’ help, has turned their home into halfway house for human and vampire troubled students. Of course that causes a lot of friction that takes some creative intervention.

There’s some interesting developments involving the rest of the gang which I won’t mention other to say you’ll love them. And the battle at the end is particularly compelling.

I fell in love with Aggie. Her story, though typical, tied nicely back to the Violet Hill battle. And Callahan is perfect. He’s so patient with her. I’m sure I would be.

Quick Thoughts: 1)I know exactly how Lucy feels about being called ma’am at age 23. Went I was 22, we moved to Wisconsin a year after we’d married so my husband could go back to college. I was walking down some stairs in one of the buildings when one of the male students opened the door for me. After I said thank you, he replied ‘you’re welcome, ma’am’ and I went into shock. I was now the older generation!

Fave Scenes: the water hose, the story of Quin’s shower and the office garden shed.

A New Chapter

It's been six years since the Blood Moon Battle in Violet Hill, Lucy is a grown up now! She and Nicholas run a half-way type house out of her parents homestead while they're traveling. It's a way to teach the problem Helios-ra students and adjusting vampires to get along. This new story loosely follows Lucy but is mainly about a young girl named Aggie who hates vampires probably more than most. Aggie may hate vampires but does her heart know it?
I loved seeing Lucy and Nicholas grown up and watching more love bloom, especially in unexpected places, but if Alyxandra Harvey is going to keep bringing us more stories in this world I'd like a little more and I'd love to see when Lucy, Hunter and Kierran turn. A fun short read, if you love this series it's just a little treat.

I totally loved this novellas also, I did totally really wanted more of this. Ugh the premise was amazing and the whole mystery aspect to this had me on my toes. It was definitely interesting to read about what everything was up to.

I loved learning that Quinn and Hunter are getting married. I especially loved when hunter said this "We might elope... do you think Helena will pull out my spleen" ugh it was my favorite.

Lucy and her farm full of delinquents vampires and hunters was something that I did not see coming but she does have an amazing heart so I can see why.

I really hope everyone reads this novella!!!

Romance novel pieces and still the ending of my grand sweeping longest running little series in the last few years, I'm pleased to say I enjoyed this very last little novella tacked on. Showing me where all my favorite girls and guys ended up after all. I'm in love and I hope that we'll see more of them in the future, but if we don't I'll be perfectly content leaving them where they ended up here, too. Bravi.

The part I liked the most in this little tiny book was the ending. I mean the story all together was great and very action packed but the ending was the best when everything came together and everybody understood what was going on with everybody it was very nice. I actually liked how short this book was and how much details were in it!

I absolutely loved getting to see the Drakes, most notably Lucy and Nicholas, a few years down the road. I'd want a series with Aggie as the main character and getting to see more of the Drakes if I didn't want them to not have any more near death experiences.
