I'm a mystery author with a soft spot for romance and humor, too. I love all things girlie with a dollop of danger, have a strong affinity for the color pink (especially in diamonds and champagne), and, not to brag, but chocolate and I are in a pretty serious relationship.

My books are fun and flirty, and feature smart and sassy sleuths. If you love books with a dash of spice and twist of whodunit, you're going to love my work!

Thoroughly enjoyed the story.
Harper is a witch and she has a unique job. She has to go back in time and find the answer to unsolved cases.
The premise of the story is imaginative. The way the author described the past from Harper's angle was beautiful and how Harper solves the mystery is amazing. The cosy mystery which follows is very well plotted and the various characters which were introduced along the way were memorable.

The first book in a new cozy paranormal/witch mystery series. There are five authors who write this series and each has their own set of characters.Stephanie Damore is a "new to me" author but she has now hooked me to read more of her books. I really liked the characters and the mystery was complex just enough to keep guessing until the end. I'm on to the next one in the series.

This is the first book in a series that this author is writing in concert with other authors! The first thing I need to say is that this book will leave you in complete anticipation of the next book! The only thing that disappointed me was that there WAS an ending! I LOVED this book! No spoilers in my reviews, but here's what you need to know so you can ONE CLICK without hesitation! This book is well written and super fun! The characters are well developed as is the story and easy to follow and is chock full of humor which will make you laugh out loud as you follow the witches going back in time to solve cold cases! What an original idea! Twists and turns galore, artfully done with an ending that makes total sense! Grab a glass of wine, a cozy corner and start this book NOW!

This was all kinds of fun wrapped up in a mysterious bow. I absolutely love the idea of time travelling witches who solve crime!

This is the first full novel I’ve read by Stephanie Damore and I know I’ll likely read all of her other books because of how much I enjoyed this. I’m very glad there’s a second Vee book in this series.

Excellent book, fun and exciting

Poor Vee. Attracting the wrong men, needy and clingy. So a trip to the past, 1962 to be exact, to solve a cold case, is very welcome! And what a lovely story! Just so exciting, a witch time-traveling to solve cold cases. What an excellent concept, and so well-executed. The writing style is lighthearted and has a fun side to it, exactly how I like it. I really took to Vee, she’s a nice person, kind, but don’t worry, she can be powerful if she needs to be! And the detective, ooh, I liked him! This is the kind of book that really provides that escape from reality that I needed. This book goes straight to my favorites list!

Better Witch Next Time is book 1 in A Witch in Time Book Series. This cozy paranormal has a unique and utterly original concept: Witches who travel back in time to solve cold cases for their employer, the Agency of Paranormal Peculiarities.

In this book we meet the feisty and snarky Vee Harper and her Siamese cat familiar , Agatha.
I love the writing in this book , I laughed so hard at "Agatha used her tan paw to stifle a laugh".
I could picture that!

Vee goes back to 1958 to New York City to solve a missing persons case of Irene Borstein. I really enjoyed reading about the shifters and witches and what New York City was like during the 1950's.

The characters are so complex and well done.
Time travel is not easy to pull off and this author does it seamlessly. There are a few twists and surprises that I was not expecting, and loved every one.

This is a fantastic book that I highly recommend. This is Book 1 and there are 5 Books in this series in total which are from 5 different authors in the shared world of witches traveling back in time to solve cold cases. I cannot wait to read all of them and they are all stand alone books.

This was an intriguing and unique concept. Time traveling witches who solve cold cases. Genius! I found myself enthralled with the story and the mystery. What is going on? Add to it that Vee had to figure things out without any sort of modern conveniences? Crazy. Fortunately, she's a powerful witch who paired up with a powerful warlock.

Vee travels to 1958 NYC to figure out what happened to a young woman who disappeared. While there, she discovers that this is much more than just a missing person case. The author did a fabulous job describing NYC in the late 50's. Between her descriptions of the fashions, interiors, and the city itself, I felt like I was there.

The story has a fair amount of suspense and action. Damore did a great job with the red herrings and keeping me guessing almost till the very end. The culprit and their reasons for doing it were unexpected and a testament to a well-written mystery.

Where the book faltered for me was in the large number of errors. There were missing words, misused words, and spelling issues galore. I also had an issue with the romance. I wish it had been left out. That's saying something because normally I demand a little romance in my cozies. In this case, it's a doomed romance. Michael lives in the past and Vee in the future. They can only visit one another for a week at a time. She's got massive commitment issues. None of it is resolved and I don't see any way that it can ever be resolved. It all just left me feeling sad for them instead of happy.

4-star rating because of the errors, the doomed romance, and finishing the book feeling sad.

Other books in this series are written by different authors, this rarely works out. Different voices muddy the waters and fail to maintain a cohesive vibe. I've only read one series, the awesome Harvest Ranch, where it worked. I may read the next book, not sure at this time.

huh

The mystery was pretty good, but I am not quite sure what the purpose was for including time travel and setting the book in New York in the early sixties other than to reference those old timey summer resorts that were popular back then - which the author did in the context of the movie Dirty Dancing. Since the protagonist had never been to NYC before the time travel seemed superfluous to the story. Vacation resorts are still popular now. Wealthy New Yorkers still have live-in servants. There are still women working retail who hope to meet a successful man and get married.

I bring this up because the author didn’t mention any of the historical events that were happening at the time. Nor was there any kind of culture shock about suddenly finding oneself in an unfamiliar era. Aside from the differences in the value of a dollar, there would be changes 8n the vernacular, technology, even the availability (not to mention quality) of fresh and processed foods. If someone dropped me off as an adult in the 1980s, an era I only ever experienced as a child, I would find it absolutely bizarre. Comparatively, the protagonist hardly noticed or cared. As for New York in the early ‘60’s - The Civil Rights movement was ongoing across the nation. JFK celebrated his birthday there in May. Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, The Yankees, Vietnam…None of it was mentioned.

The inclusion of magic seemed to distract from the plot holes. Every time the protagonist acted strangely, she just erased the person’s memory.

Good Witch meets Back to the Future

Awesome. A wonderful new take on witches. A plot of time travel, witches that are part a a special task force who are given assignments to complete in the past. Terrific characters ranging from the modern woman to the flirty, party girls of the 60's.
She is trying to break up with her latest boyfriend when another case is delivered by special courier. Why is it so hard to find a decent boyfriend? However her new case for the task force will give her something else to think about. A missing girl! Going back to the 60's is a bit of a culture shock (for others) as with her pixie cut she is definitely different. Now to find out all she can about the missing girl. Why does she have to be the temporary housekeeper - firstly she hates meat and secondly she can't cook! The more she finds out the more bewildered she becomes. The girl was adopted and looks as if she is a witch but scrying doesn't help. Someone is blocking her. Then she picks up a partner. A detective who's a wizard! Can the two make sense of why three young witches have been abducted and why shifters are being killed? Will she ever see him again once the assignment is finished? Will she survive the assignment?

This is a slightly different series in that there are quotes from Aunt Tillie interspersed with the chapters. Landon is still living in Traverse City. There's a storm and Landon, who is there for the time being, and Bay find Aunt Tillie still in the greenhouse and refusing to leave.

Sometimes her demand to do everything her way can backfire and this time it does as she's hit by a branch, knocked out and is taken to the hospital where she seems to be in a coma.

Now, you would think that since Aunt Tillie is in a coma there is no way in the world she could cause trouble for anyone. Right?

Wrong. Somehow Landon and Bay end up in Aunt Tillie's mind and see things that happened earlier in Bay's life. One event even goes all the way back in Bay's life. Not only do they seem to be trapped in Aunt Tillie's memories but there seems to be a couple of Aunt Tillies.

So, somehow, they have to get out of her memories and back to the 'real' world. A dream within a dream? Or perhaps another form of reality? A good story.

A Mystery Cold Case - A Young Woman Has Disappeared in 1959 Never to be heard from again... Time for Time Traveling Witch!

Vee, a Time Traveling Witch with an Agency responsible for investigating and solving cold cases never solved with a team of witches, is given a case where Irene has disappeared never to be heard from again. Vee says the spell armed with only $30 of 1959 currency, an old dress, an address and key. She's to be the fill in housekeeper for Irene and her parents. I'm her investigation she finds, Irene is adopted, likely a powerful witch and her adopted father is into alchemy. A Full Moon is coming and the shifters on edge. Curious yet? It's a good story. My only criticism is the writer tends to rely on her protagonist getting a bail out from her familiar and her fellow witches back in the present. She could just have easily had all the captives work with her at the end instead. Interesting twist at the end worth sticking around to read. More to follow, Stephanie Damore? I like.

Sent back to New York in the year 1962 to solve the mystery of a missing girl, Vee Harper is enthusiastically prepared to solve this cold case. Going back so far in time proves that her bosses trust her and she is ready to do battle to get results.

To address the elephant in the room, my copy did indeed have the date 1962 rather than 1958 - probably to get around a couple of tricky pieces of history that confounded the narrative in previous editions.

Initially, I found Vee to be a little shallow and I wasn't sure I'd want to spend an entire book with her but she quickly shook that off and went to work. While the glimpse into the era was informative though perhaps a little sparse, the characters were well fleshed out. The mystery took several unexpected turns until it arrived at its finale which was quite unexpected. All in all, I was delighted by the tale and had that "aww" moment at the book's end owing to the sadness of running out of pages to read.

I don't do book reviews

I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you.
My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it.
If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I give
If the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give.
Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away.
Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way

Vee is a witch that travels back in time to right the wrongs committed to someone. In this story she is sent to Manhattan in New York City in the year 1958. She is looking for a missing girl, whose parents are not overly concerned about her being gone. In fact they don't want anyone to know that she is missing, after all, they have plans for her to marry into the Morgan's. Vee tries her magic to find her, but something or someone very strong is blocking her. Then she runs into Detective Michael Cooper. He is a warlock and he too has seen a rise in missing young witches. This can not be good. Can they find the witches and who is holding them and why? Oh Vee aka Anna, only has a few days left to get this done. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.

When I heard of this series, I was curious. It has a number of really good authors but I have been disappointed before with witchy books. Stephanie Damore, my first time reading her, surprised me. I was impressed to see real craft knowledge in the story. Not only that but treated respectfully. The mixing of reality and fantasy was well done. The mystery of what happened to Irene was interesting. The introduction of shifters, expected. I liked Vee immensely and adored Michael. Ms. Damore set the bar high with the first book in this series. I’m truly excited to read the other books in this series.

Vee Harper works for the Agency of Paranormal Peculiarities. She's a time jumper and goes back to the past to right wrongs that had happened.

This time she's going to 1958 Manhatten, NY to find a girl who has disappeared and was never seen again.

She comes across shifters, other witches, and even those from magical backgrounds who have no magic themselves. She discovers that Irene Hendricks is not the only young witch that has disappeared, and someone is also killing the shifters.

This is a fun story with developed characters, a bit of humor and some pretty good battle scenes. This is the first story I have read from Stephanie Demore, but it will not be the last.

This is the second Stephanie Damore book I've read, and it did not disappoint. I liked Vee. She was a great, interesting character, and her ability to control electricity was cool. I liked how she was able to acclimate herself to her 1960s surroundings, despite her hairdo and attitude being from a different generation. She was likable and compassionate but tough when she needed to be. I enjoyed her interactions and blossoming relationship with Detective Michael. The cat familiars, Agatha and George, were a hoot. If you like humor, magic, and mystery, with a touch of suspense and action, then you will enjoy this book.

I had some issues with this book. Most notably:

1. It couldn't decide whether it took place in 1962 or 1958. It was as if the author had the story originally in 1958 but later changed it to 1962 without changing all of the original references. The most obvious of these is having a girl born in 1940 be 18 years old and not 22.

2. The cavalier way characters played with people's minds, erased memories, and used mental coercion to get what they wanted. The moral implications of this made me uncomfortable.

I did like the characters, and I thought the story was good, if a bit slow. In all, this wasn't a bad book, but I didn't love it.

This is book one in a series of five, all written by different authors - fun! The cover art is very eye-catching and a nice touch to carry it through all five books. As an agent of the Agency of Paranormal Pecularities, Vee Harper is a witch trained to travel back in time in order to solve cold cases - what an interesting premise for a story. I was intrigued from the start...and I was not disappointed! An entertaining and fun paranormal tale with great characters - looking forward to the next release.

Wonderful New Paranormal Time Travel Cozy Mystery Series
This is the most wonderful book! I would love to just sit and binge read the whole series right now! I have read everything that this author has written and all have been aces. This first of series book is no different. The paranormal elements all ring true. The plot is great. I love the characters and would love to see more of Vee and Michael in future books. You won't be sorry to buy this book and will likely buy the whole series! I bought this book and this is my honest opinion.

Great read

I love paranormal cozy mysteries. The problem is that everyone thinks they can write them, and for some reason , they tend to come in series, which I do not like. So many of them have terrible grammar and read like they were written by a middle schooler. This was not the case with this book. I enjoyed the story, and I did not stumble over horrific grammar. Don't forget that while this is part of a series, I do not have keep reading for the rest of the story. I want to keep reading because this was a good read.

LOL I don't like time travel books but I sure enjoyed Better Witch Next Time. I like Stephanie Danmore's writing style to start with and this book was so full of interesting details.
Looking for a missing teenage girl turns into a mystery when two more show up missing. Vee teams up with a local detective and together they start putting the clues together. Set in the 60's the author definitely knows her era and the way people act and dress then. Trapped who will save Vee? You will have to read to find out!

This is the first book in a cozy paranormal/witch mystery series. There are five authors who write this series and each has their own set of characters. I have not read previous books from this author Stephanie Damore. I enjoyed her writing style enough to look into more of her books. I enjoyed the main character, Vee, and her approach. The introduction of Michael and their chemistry was good. The overall mystery was complex just enough to keep guessing until the end. The very ending was fun and encouraging to continue in the series.

What happens when you go back in time to resolve a mystery and possibly meet a man you can finally get into? Lots of action too!

This is the most basic synopsis that can be written for this really cute, short, fun cozy read. You can sit with a glass of your choosing and read this for just pure enjoyment.

I can see the story to continuing into more books. PLEASE!!!!!

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.

Vee works for an agency which sends witches back in time to solve cold cases in the past. This time, she searches for a girl named Irene - and has to cope with rogue witches, dangerous shifters, murder ... and her feelings for Detective Cooper.

This was an intriguing story, with a bit of action (not too bloody), a bit of romance (clean) and a whole lot of the supernatural. I will probably look for the second installment in this series.

Fun time travel, clean Witch Cosy. I have to be honest, I almost passed on this read. I am so glad I didn't. This has very unique characters, some good, some bad. Those bad characters are meant to be mean, uncaring, or rotten. The female & male characters had great depth and charisma, especially for a cosy. This book did have an ending. I loved the smile I got from the ending. Don't cheat, read to the end so it makes sense. I want to read more of this author's books.

This is a new to me author and I was delighted with this story. The end sets you up for a continuation of the series, but this story is complete. I liked the characters and I especially liked the way Michael and Vee interact with each other. Their dialogue reads as natural.
Time travelling witch, Vee, is trying to solve a cold case in the early 60’s. While there she meets Detective Michael and their cases meld into one. To solve the crime they need to work together.
