I thought this was kind of a storybook about Korean celebrations, and it's not. But it still has some great information and activities for families and classes to learn together!
I am a huge fan of Tina Cho’s books, so what a thrill to be given Korean Celebrations : Festivals, Holidays and Traditions by Tina Cho, illustrated by Farida Zaman, published by Tuttle to review for Multicultural Children’s Book Day. Korean Celebrations is an appealing overview of traditional celebrations and special days, but the book also shares activities, Korean language lessons, traditional dress, games, and recipes in a way that is fresh and accessible for kids. The illustrations by Farida Zaman are sweet, clear, and colorful. My kids will love reading this book. Plus, they will want to try out the recipes for rice cake and ddukguk (the yummiest soup ever).
This is a great beginners book about Korean traditions, festivals and holidays. I learned a lot. There are crafts, and games and recipes to easily make and enjoy with friends and family. The book also shows the Korean alphabet and teaches some common Korean phrases.
We loved this overview about Korean culture so much that we ordered another copy to gift to our children's school. Such a helpful and kid-friendly book to learn more about our family's Korean heritage. Gorgeous colorful illustrations and easy-to-read summaries for young children. The book also includes a few hands-on Korean activities for kids.
I thought this was an interesting book and a great introduction to Korean celebrations. The artwork is colorful and cute. There also isn’t a lot of text. I learned quite a bit, and even saw a few recipes and activities that I would like to try. Some of the instructions and illustrations that went along with them felt unclear to me. But that might just be a me thing.
I saw this at the library last week and I had to check out to myself :) I lived in Korea for 1 year and absolutely loved it. Loved the people, the food, pretty much everything! I even learned the language. Read this book gave me warm fuzzies and loved learning a little more about a country so dear to my heart!
Super informative and interactive, this book provides young readers with information about Korean holidays and how they are celebrated. There's also an interactive aspect such as instructions for related crafts, recipes, and words in the Korean language to learn.
