The Judy Moody series entertains and also educates. This installment focuses on the human body and the reader learns along with Judy and her class. Reading this a second time with my grandson has added a star to my rating from my first round.

As we always do, we discuss our favorite chapter after finishing the book. J chose the last chapter called "MD = Most Definitely." Judy is home sick with tonsillitis and bored to tears. Her friends come to visit with their pets to put "Paws for Healing" into action. The visitor's include Stink's Toady, Frank Pearl's Siamese fighting fish (also named Judy), and Rocky's iguana. Jessica Finch brings her pet guinea pig Chester and the four babies: Jasmine, Coco, Cindy, and Nutmeg aka the Spice Girls.

My pick for favorite chapter was "MD = Medical Doctor." Judy dresses up like her favorite pioneer doctor Elizabeth Blackwell to give a class presentation. She demonstrates an operation on a zucchini with some humorous consequences.

We'll be taking a short break from Judy Moody to read from the Childhood of Famous Americans series. Our first book will be Crazy Horse: Young War Chief.

Third-grader Judy Moody's day gets off to a rocky start one rainy morning, as she tries to convince her skeptical mother and brother that she is ill. Foiled in the attempt, she is packed off to school, convinced that it is going to be the worst day ever. Instead, she discovers to her delight that Mr. Todd's room is full of bones - a skeleton is even posed at his desk! - and that her class is about to embark on a study of "the amazing human body." Judy, whose ambition is to become a doctor one day like her idol, Elizabeth Blackwell, enters fully into the spirit of this project, enjoying the subsequent class field-trip to the hospital, and designing a very detailed "operation" for her presentation. When she becomes the victim of a practical joke however, and is made to look foolish by her friends, it seems that all of her fun is ruined - especially when she ends up ill! Can her friends convince Judy Moody, M.D., that they are sorry...?

This fifth entry in Megan McDonald's chapter-book series chronicling the adventures of a feisty young girl whose moods (as they do with most younger children) go wildly up and down depending upon circumstance, is an engaging read. Judy makes an appealing heroine, one with plenty of flaws, but an essentially good-hearted nature as well. Her interaction with her younger brother Stink is a case in point, alternating between the usual sibling taunting and pranks (her threats to use Toady as a guinea pig for her science presentation), and some sweetly humorous acts of affection (the "help" she gives, when he is sick in bed with tonsillitis). The artwork by Peter H. Reynolds, whose own titles include such picture-books as The Dot and Ish , perfectly captures the sense of humor and fun in the text, adding to the reading experience. All in all, Judy Moody, M.D.: The Doctor Is In! is an entertaining little story, one I would recommend to beginning chapter-book readers, and to fans of its heroine.

4.5 stars. This was a super fun book in the Judy Moody series. I enjoyed it a lot.

In this book I wish I was in that class as well, the classes sound so much fun. A visit to the hospital? Learning all about the body? Making a big project to show to people? Yes, yes and yes! This is just the way to teach kids about stuff, by making it all fun.
I really liked the projects the kids made, especially Judy's. She is so creative and what she did to that Zucchini? It was great and it made me laugh, though I felt kind of sorry for the food. :D

Of course I didn't always approve of Judy, the way she acts and tries to get everything to her side is at times a bit annoying. I also was worried about the toad and her plans for that. Her stealing that from her brother? While she clearly states she doesn't want him to take anything of hers? Rude and hypocrite.

Not only is the theme doctors/hospital because of what happens at class (and Judy's dreamjob), it is also because there is something going through Judy's house.

I didn't like the prank the friends did to Judy. Bleh.

The book made me laugh, it made me cheer for the characters, I was really enjoying myself. I will be sure to read the rest of the series. At times I am annoyed, but generally I like the series. I guess I will soon have to buy book 11 and 12 if I continue with the speed I am reading these books.

The illustrations are still fantastic and make the book come more to life. They fit perfectly.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, and even more yes!

I tu zaczyna się dyskusja! Przecież nie wolno męczyć zwierząt! Kto jest więc tajemniczym pacjentem?👩🏽‍⚕️

This is about the tenth book in either Judy Moody or Stink Moody series that I have read. And boy was it fun! I actually read this while home sick myself, and my wife and children were sick also. This book made some of the stuff we were going through easier to take. The book focuses around Judy and her continued desire to be a Doctor when she grows up. Her class has a trip to the Emergency room to visit the Hospital with the other third grade class. But soon after that trip, Stink ends up sick and gets to stay home from school. Judy wants to help doctor him back to health but ends up catching the mumps herself.

The chapters are:
M.D. = A Moody Day
M.D. = MeDullas and ManDibles
M.D. = Mystery Dectective
M.D. = A Million Dollars
M.D. = Mucus Dermis
M.D. = Mr. DryBones
M.D. = Majorly Delicious!
M.D. = Medical Doctor
M.D. = Medical Disaster
M.D. = Mumpty Dumpty
M.D. = Most Definitely

I really liked how this story of Judy Moody connected with an earlier one. I thought the whole zucchini operation was funny and the illustration of her as humpty dumpty, hilarious. Judy Moody encouraging readers to be kind to others and go for a profession like a doctor makes it a growing favorite series for me. Now I just need a book all about Mouse (their pet cat) to make my day.

This was a fun book to read as a "easy read". This is because I haven't read these books since I was 7-8. Judy Moody uses funny, made-up words, and this was just a really funny, fun book to read.

I really liked this book cause it was good. Judy had many dolls and they were all bad so she used to pretented that she was a doctor and uesd to stich her dolls then later she gave most of them to the children in the hospital casue she had so many that she had to give away.

A new adventure of Judy Moody and her brother Stink. When Stink goes to the doctor, Judy tags along and is eager to learn all she can about being a doctor. A fun and amusing read for children. Thank you Goodreads for this free book!!!!!

Judy Moody is SO my daughter. I get to enjoy her charming self but I also am on the receiving end of a lot of her "ROAR!"s. And so the life of 8 year old Moody Judy continues. This time her friends played a trick on HER!!! I mean, it's ok for Judy to tease her friends but heaven forbid she ever be teased back. THAT is my daughter, as well. I loved the reconciliation at the end . . .

ps the one thing I don't like about these books is how she talks about Jessica Finch. Ok, Judy, I get it. So the girl's a know-it-all and it bugs you. But since I'm reading it out loud I usually skip over all the mean names she calls Jessica in her head. Girls have enough social agression in their life without me feeding it to Ellie a a pattern for her to follow.

I just bought this on a bootlegged shop for very cheap price. Before that I didn't know about this series. This book turned out to be very funny and very good than I expected it to be. I really loved it : )

Finished it in couple of hours :)

I really liked this book. It was funny and so fun to read. I would read it to my children and students to teach them about being ill and skipping school. This story connects to early Judy Moody stories and her desire to be a doctor one day. Judy Moody woke up not wanting to go to school and the sound of the rain making it even harder to want to go. Judy wanted to be sick so she could stay home and enjoy all the perks that come with like eating toast, staying in bed, watch tv in room, reading her favorite books and eating yummy cough drops. Judy’s brother stink yells for her mom when Judy says she can’t go to school because she’s sick. Stink makes funny comments when Judy comes up with more and more excuses. Her mom and Stink aren’t falling for it. She doesn’t give up easily and her imagination grows. All her “symptoms” align with having mumps, Judy claims this is her sickness as she pushes her cough drop to the side of her cheek. They still don’t fall for it and conclude that she isn’t sick at all. Stink calls Judy a faker the whole time. After she is forced to go to school for the day, she is down in the dumps and felt like “mumpty dumpty”. Her class takes a field trip to the hospital and gets to make a project too! Soon after Stink gets sick. He ends up having to stay home at school because he is too sick. Judy of course wants to put her doctor skills to use and help! She ends up getting sick too, oh no. The illustrations throughout the book were bright and simple. I would recommend this book to kindergarteners or 1st graders.

From vol 1 to vol.5. I think this is my favorite title. In this series, 3rd grade does Human Body projects. Judy is in the mood with this project. Because her dream wants to be like Elizabeth Blackwell (the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States). The story is fun!!!

I remember when Mr. Todd said each one of us is our own ecosystem. We carry around millions of critters too tiny to see. Like a human rain forest. Now do we see why he is always after all of 3rd grade students to wash their hands.

My favorite part when Judy's friends (Jessica, Rocky and Frank) come to Judy's house and they bring their own pets. It's just like Paws for Healing. And also, I like this joke.

"What did the doctors say to the patient with tonsillitis?" - Have a swell time! 🤣🤣

This is a story about making friends.

In this book there are 2 girls and one is called Ivy and another is called Bean. Bean is also very awkward and crazy too! Bean was hiding from her sister Nancy. She bumped into a wall and saw Ivy. Afterwards Bean hid with Ivy and that’s how Ivy and Bean became friends.
In the beginning Bean did not like Ivy because Bean thought she was too nice and Bean knew that nice means another word for boring. Also another reason that I think this is a good book is that is very very funny! I hope you will like it! I would give it a five stars. I think 6 to 11 year olds can read this book!

Judy Moody is just like and third grade student who wants to get out of school by faking being sick. The way she goes about faking it to her mother would make anyone laugh. This is such a cute book that students can relate to and see how their mood can affect situations. The only problem with this book is the tone Judy uses with Stink, her brother and Jessica Finch, the annoying girl in her class. While all students have the same kinds of thoughts about their siblings or people in their class they are not fans of, it is not ideal to encourage seeking badly and calling other names. The way Judy Moody speaks it sounds funny in the story but it is not kind to be said outside of the story.

It’s was better than the last one—WAY BETTER—But still not as good as the previous 3.

I really enjoyed this book, i don’t usually like books about doctors and stuff like that, but in this one, i really do.

I could’ve given it a higher rating, but instead I just gave it an almost 4 stars.

Some things in this book are great, some things in this book are DISGUSTING 🤮

*cough cough* the operation scene *cough cough*

But still it was good, just some things in there are making me want to skip the chapter.

But i am looking forward to the 6th book, because this series is AWESOME and NOSTALGIC.

I like this book for some reason it was really good grabs my attention i have no clue why because it is like a little kids book but it is so good and i could read it again and i kinda want to but I need to move on. My favorite quote in this book was "The bald guy with a bow tie."(63) this was my favorite because when I lived in Salt Lake city i had a teacher that was bald and he was my favorite and he always wore bow ties but one day he didn't wake up and he passed away and it was really sad but that just made me think of him when i read across that and that was just my favorite part.

This time around Judy is ecstatic because 3T is now studying the human body and we all know her dream of becoming a doctor plays into that rather nicely. Thing is...Judy is about to learn there are boundaries in both medicine and real life that shouldn't be breached when she decides to go all out with her class presentation of something that wasn't hers to share, tell, or show. She's got a good heart, but sometimes her ambition gets in her way...good thing it looks like she's getting those missteps out while she's young.

I hope my son doesn't get tired of us reading these at night together because they're so much fun. Just good, wholesome books that are funny and where you actually learn stuff too! (I sound like an old fogey with this review; I probably am.) I like Stink, Judy's brother, better than Judy, but he makes enough appearances in these that I'm satisfied. Anyway, in this one Judy becomes obsessed with medicine, wears a fake cast, nurses Stink through a case of tonsillitis, and succumbs to it herself.
