The De La Salle University Library in Manila is probably the best in the Philippines and this recent book is one proof of it. This one from the library's European Documentation and Research Center is a great introduction and general reference to the European Union, its history, theoretical bases, structure, and how it works (and does not work).
Well, this one was quite good. It reminded me on my old school books- nice tables, strict structure, discrete chapters. And like every school book it helped me to get an overview but provided only limited information. What more, after 30 pages I was really irritated to read the same literature references over and over again. In comparison to other text books it was nothing special, but… I liked the layout which made me smile and feel like I was in the high school again :-).
A very good book for EU students, especially the beginners. I read most parts of this book whilst getting prepared for s scholarship exam & interview, and I highly suggest it to people in my situation as well.
The book provides a detailed, updated and highly organized description of the ways in which the European Union performs its day to day functions. The huge advantage of the book is that it describes the EU's evolution and mechanisms in a very simple way.
This book is an excellent introduction to the complicated and often misunderstood polity that eventually came to be known as the European Union. It is fairly organized in its delivery of information and the text is fairly easy to read.
This book brings an easy understanding on how the European Union works, and it also covers theories about integration. Students of European Studies should read this book.
