Asa and his longtime partner, Javier, are looking forward to a cozy, kinky Christmas together. But when Asa discovers his coworker Drew has nowhere to go for the holidays, he invites Drew home for dinner. His motives aren’t entirely pure: Asa and Javier are both dominant, and occasionally arrange one night stands with submissives. Asa’s been hot for Drew for months, even though he has no proof Drew is kinky.

Drew has wanted Asa since the day they met. Drew would never come between Asa and his partner, but that doesn’t stop him from fantasizing about Asa doing filthy, painful, incredible things to him. He accepts Asa’s dinner invitation reluctantly, not eager to witness Asa and Javier’s domestic bliss firsthand.

When Javier discovers Drew’s profile on a BDSM site shortly before Drew’s arrival, the game changes. A bold proposition leads to Asa and Jav sharing a night of play and passion with a dinner guest who’s nowhere near as innocent as he looks. But as their not-so-silent night progresses, all three find themselves on shaky ground. Can they keep this arrangement no strings attached? Or is there a way for each man to get what he really wants for Christmas?

COMMUNICATION, PEOPLE! I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this one other than some pretty serious kink (its been quite a while since I've read either author) but the way this played out just really (REALLY) didn't sit well with me. There were quite a few bits that brought out the side eye but the biggest was the lack of communication particularly between Asa and Javier. They are the established couple, have been together for a long time AND are Doms that often take on subs as a third. Their communication and connection regarding this should be extra rock solid, open and uncomfortably honest! But... nope.

There is an extremely fine line when trying to sell a triad and for me, this one didn't tread it. Asa and Javier both have feelings that they don't tell the other about regarding Drew. Big time feelings! I kept waiting for this couple of 8 years to put things out on the table and they never did (I'm not even bothering with making sense of all 3 trying to communicate honestly because again... nope). I was especially looking for Javier's honesty as the partner that's essentially meeting Drew for the first time after hearing his dude talk about him for months. The connection between Asa and Drew was mentioned often and explored even in such a short work that the balance of this threesome seemed WAY off and I just couldn't buy into it working. That's basically what this comes down to. Lies of omission or just not being honest in regard to a relationship like this one is the kiss of death for me as a reader and a lot of this read like emotional cheating and/or lying and I'm not down for that. So many authors are exploring different combinations of relationships and that's great. Just please for the love of all things; if your characters are *thinking* jealousy or insecurity or unexpected intense intimacy and they're in an established relationship looking to bring another person in, MAKE THEM VOICE THOSE THOUGHTS OUT LOUD AND CLEAR!!! It is imperative to making the whole thing work!

Somehow, at least for now, all this BDSM stuff isn't working for me. I liked reading it a lot but now it feels just like play-acting or make-believe.

*closes eyes*
gathers thoughts...
*big sigh*
I love this writing pair.
I tend to love all their books.
But I should have trusted my gut on this one because it just didn't work for me.
This is exactly why I struggle with three in the bed.
It certainly was HOT. But much of it left me feeling cold.

There were moments of jealousy.
There were pangs of hurt feelings.
There were loosely tossed-out 'rules' that must have changed before the ending.
But things were never discussed.
There was so little communication and that is sooo very important when bringing a third into an established relationship. At least in my opinion.
If you're looking for HOT with three in the bed and WITH plenty of communication, I highly recommend Misfits.
Actually, I think I'm due for a reread...I need a palate cleanser.

Mmm, nothing like a kinky threesome for Christmas

First of all - this is not “light” BDSM, where someone gets blindfolded and maybe swatted a couple of times. It’s much more intense than that, which isn’t a deterrent for me, but might be for some people.

I quite liked the dynamics between the three guys, and how they openly discussed that things were heading a different way than the casual weekend encounter they’d initially envisioned. Each of them has something different to offer the relationship, and they were HOT together.

*Slight spoiler.* While it ended with a bit more of a HFN than a HEA, that’s to be expected when they’ve only been together for a week or two. Still, all signs point toward a HEA in the future.

I was so looking forward to read this book. I love bdsm books and menages and I love Lisa Henry´s books. But this book isn´t what I thought it would be. The story had so much potential and ended up luke warm. Don´t get me wrong some of the scenes are very nice but I think J.A. Rock hasn´t made his homework about BDSM and Lisa only gave her name. The way Jav works as dom and the way the relationship is playing out aren´t adding up for me.
For example they all aggree to play on the weekends and that Asa and Drew are not to have sex at work but the next thing you get to read is a scene where Asa puts Drew in chasticy and gives him a crop or somtething to take home to Jav and orders him around not as boss but as dom. And that is more or less the end of the book. Feels like there are missing at least two ore three chapters.
Not the best book I read so far.

This was so much fun to read. It had an amazing mixed between steam and playfulness that had me smiling all the time. Asa and Javier differ for what they want from Drew, and it makes it really interesting to see what each of them likes. Poor Drew seem to be in a little bit of trouble, there is an intense internal struggle, not only for what he wants but also about his feelings toward Asa.

I loved Asa and Javier as a couple, they seem so well connected. I also loved the jealousy that was present most of time. It made me keep guessing their actions and how things might work. I’m not so quick to accept a third person into a relationship, but the way the story was managed, it made me believe it could be possible for them to make it work, not just yet, but sometime in the future.

Another thing I loved about it was the time spend on the BDSM scenes, the authors took enough time to make a good description of what was going on. It was really easy to picture the scenes most of the times.

Overall it was a very fun Christmas story to read. I’m not usually a holiday’s stories reader, but this wasn’t a typical holiday story either. I had a great time with it.

Asa and Javier are an established couple who play outside their relationship. Asa has been eyeing and talking about Drew for months and when Drew's holiday plans fall through, Asa invites Drew home to meet Jav and maybe a moresome.

Kinky journey for Drew ensues. [I feel like Jav and Asa weren't communicating about their mutual feelings for Drew as well as could be but that could be the confines of only 144 pages] Anyway, inventive and sexy times and Drew can finally explore his fantasies as can Asa and Drew.

Fall on your Knees

Wow. Ok. So this was a lot Hotter than I thought it would be. Although this setting is a “Holiday” Novella. It is not a holiday novella. Lol. It is a Hot, Sexy full on BDSM book. This book has everything. Doms Asa & Javier. And their “newish” Sub Drew. They do Every BDSM kinky thing you can think of over the course of their holiday, Christmas and New Years. This book was GOOD!!! Super Hot Scenes!! Great Read!!

I read this as part of an anthology in 2015.

Kinky holiday fun from one of my most favorite writing teams? Yes please!

While gingerbread men may forever be ruined for me, I enjoyed this story of long-time partners and doms Asa and Javier and Asa's young, seemingly innocent employee Drew, spending some quality time during Christmas getting to know each other better. Drew is fairly new to town and can't get home for Christmas. Asa has had the hots for his office's new employee and has shared this information with Asa. Since they are both dominant, they regularly will bring in a third who is willing to submit to them. Young Drew has been harboring his own crush on Asa and is a bit less vanilla then Asa had thought.

Beneath the creative kinky fuckery, was some actual story and my heart actually hurt for Drew at the end of their first night together. It had a believable ending, and I would love to see more of these three actually trying to make a go at a more permanent situation.

Kinky! The HFN ending is more realistic than an HEA would have been, considering the length of this story, but I sure would've liked to see if they make it in the long run. Good (i.e. naughty) holiday fun.

I imagined when I went in search of a Lisa Henry book that I would get intensity. I wasn't expecting quite the level of kink that I was treated too (definitely not for the faint of heart) but it is an unexpected treat.

I am particularly impressed with the dynamic of an established partnership bringing in a third party to play with and the impact of this decision on all three men.

More to follow, once I have a think ....

This book was like a bad one night stand - kind of
hot but mostly kind of awkward, and I was left with a sense of general regret and an icky feeling when it was done.

If you want romance, this isn’t it. There’s definitely some hot bdsm scenes, but they also definitely fall more onto the sadomasochistic side of things. Honestly, if the authors didn’t make it a point to say that the sub was hard I would think it wasn’t enjoyable at all. Which is partly why it didn’t work for me. We are in Drew’s head, and I would have expected to feel like he was enjoying everything, but I really didn’t. I felt like he was just trying to please them and wasn’t actually enjoying even that part of things because of all the unresolved feelings and their very stingily given praise. Overall, it all felt kind of painful (pun intended). I’ve read hotter scenes, I’ve definitely read more emotional scenes, and the epilogue was such a let down that I was totally disappointed when it was done. There’s no real sense of closure and I just feel like Javi and Asa are using Drew to get off when Drew has feelings. (That isn’t what it says, but that’s totally how it felt to me.)

This book was a fun read. Asa and Javier are two different types of Doms. Asa is sweet, caring, more prone to coddle, whereas Javier is rough and sadistic but can be sweet and loving (namely after a scene). Asa and Javier need a third, a submissive to satisfy their desires and needs. Drew has been fantasizing about Asa for months and when his flight home for Christmas is cancelled, due to weather, Asa suggests he spends the holidays with him & Javier. What was only supposed to be one night of passion turns into more. What Drew finds out, as a submissive, he needs both these men, Javier to push him and Asa to be gentle with him. Their dynamic is beautiful.

There were many a times I felt the scenes were stacked against Drew, ultimately leading him to “fail” and potentially be punished.

I think my favorite part of this book was the interactions between Drew and Javier, especially the part where Drew broke down and asked Javier for help.

This was a good read & id recommend it.

I loved this and I don’t want to talk about it.

I will, of course, but only briefly.

A solid mix of heavy kink, steady humor, & a fair amount of angst. Just how we like it 💕

Primary concern is lack of content warnings. There’s some rough play in here, folks, with rigorous punishments. Sure, rougher exists. BDSM is a spectrum, of course, & this is edging towards the more severe side. Everything is clean cut & consensual but I think offering clear boundaries & expectations for the reader is appropriate as well. So they know if this is the read for them, because it will definitely not be for some people.

I haven't read a lot of BDSM books and nothing quite as... graphic about the lifestyle as this one.
I liked the dynamics of the characters and I liked how Asa and Jav (the established couple) communicated so openly with each other and how they included Drew in their fold.
The book was extremely hot and I'd love to read some more of these characters, maybe a few years down the road and see if they made it together!

Super hot!

This was a very kinky Christmas story. These three were hot together and I really enjoyed the dynamic. My only complaint is I wanted more than just the promise we get here. I hope there is a sequel in the future.

I really wanted to like this. I really did. I liked some moments. I could sometimes see the chemistry between two of the three main characters. Those two things are why I made my way all the way through the book. Ultimately though, there weren't enough of those good moments or enough chemistry between all three to make up for the tremendous issues I have with this book.

First, the kink is outrageously under-negotiated. Frankly, dangerously so. There isn't trust between one Dom and the sub--there just isn't. Even by the end, when they supposedly do have trust and do have a bond that is unique to them, I couldn't "feel it" and didn't see it even though the characters spoke the words. Not to mention, communication between the three of them was a mess. Even in the final pages, one of the Doms knows that the sub STILL did not understand fundamental aspects of what they were doing together. That is so not okay.

Second, the "aftercare" is damn near non-existent, and what is there is piss-poor (in my opinion). In fairness, kink is such a hugely personal thing, so there may be many who disagree with me. Still, I really do not feel like these so-called experienced Doms took proper care of their very new-to-scenes sub. New subs often rush into everything, and it is up to experienced kinksters to help them navigate scenes with care. And if people are going to rush into it, they're going to need even more communication and aftercare.

It was like none of these characters had ever even heard the foundational BDSM mantra, "safe, sane, and consensual." There are times you can get away with bypassing a lot of the negotiation and aftercare, but to do so, you have to make the rest of the book fit the tone of that kind of story. In my opinion, this book didn't. It aimed for an erotic romance tone with themes that were very dark erotica, and for me, that just didn't work well.

Finally, I didn't like one of the characters at all. I wanted to like him, I really did, but every other time he opened his mouth, I found myself pissed off with him.

Oof, big no from me on this. I'm sorry. I really wanted to like it. I really did, but nope, not for me.

As usual when these authors collaborate I enjoy the results. Very kinky, almost more holiday adjacent than an actual holiday story. The connection was a little fast, but the epilogue smoothed that out a bit. Overall, it's a hot read, if you like kink, but it probably could be more developed. Then again, it does what was intended, so it's successful. I would re-read when I wanted to step outside the sweet of most holiday books.

Well those who are interested in plot need not apply here. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing and not why I didn’t care for this one. Maybe it’s the ménage a trois aspect but I didn’t feel it here. I struggled to believe in their balance and I wasn’t feeling much heat despite all the dirty bits. Maybe it was too dirty? I wasn’t sure that was possible, but perhaps it is. This is a fairly serious BDSM pain, humiliation slut style book.

Very original!

It was an okay story would like more between Asa and Drew. jab was a jerk. We need to see more of a softer side in Jab and more interaction between Drew and Asa. The sex was hot and intensely it needed more love in them. What a way to decorate cookies very original.
