From the home of healthy fast food, Leon Fast Vegan is all about delicious food, which just happens to be vegan.
Leon Fast Vegan contains more than 150 recipes. Divided into three sections, it kicks off with The Main Event, with easy recipes for everything from breakfast and brunch to sharing plates, via quick suppers and slow-cooked one-pot dishes. Part two, On the Side, features sauces, dressings, nourishing side dishes and scrumptious breads, and part three, Sweet, gives vegan options for desserts and cakes.
As ever, healthy fast food chain LEON takes inspiration from around the world, with recipes for vegan sushi, Mexican tacos, Vietnamese pancakes and American burgers. The emphasis throughout is on great flavour and keeping things simple.
Whether you are looking for breakfasts or party food, weekday suppers or ambitious feasts, there is something here for everyone.
probably a pretty good cookbook if you live in a large city where you have access to stuff like seitan and plantains but if you dont live near an asian supermarket youre shit out of luck with this one lol
I'm going to preface this by saying that I would eat pretty much everything in this book. And the photos are really nice, and just...it's a nice cookbook. But...maybe I'm just suuuuper lazy? Hardly any of these recipes seemed very fast to me at all. When even the salads take like 45 minutes? I'm out, except on the extremely rare occasion when I want to be fancy, which is like, once a year at Christmas, basically. I have no doubt the recipes taste great, I just...do not have the patience.
While published in 2018, many of the recipes included are 95% based on others from books and websites from 3-5 years earlier. I don't think they copied them, just that the vegan food movement has found some of the best combinations and this book is just late to the party. Lots of basic recipes if you are new to cooking, but otherwise i would skip this one as if you have 2-5 other vegan cookbooks you're probably already covered.
Divided into sections, this book demonstrates how Vegan food can be interesting and full of flavour. Although some of them have a few too many ingredients for my liking, there are many recipes that I am looking forward to trying, especially the miso caramel popcorn.
4 stars for some excellent pudding recipes. As I am cooking for dairy and egg intolerances rather than vegans, I have not tried so many of the savoury recipes, however many of them require specialist ingredients not easily available, are time consuming and involve deep frying which is a hassle at home.
I LOVE this book. I started to bookmark recipes to cook but I had to stop as I wanted to make them all!!! Most of the ingredients are easy to find but some may take a little searching... Such as banana bloom! I am particularly excited to try the mushroom bacon!
