Klasse als Geschenk - als Kochbuch eher altbacken

Ich hatte dieses Buch von meiner Oma geschenkt bekommen, sie war ein Liebhaber klassischer Filme genau wie ich es bin - natürlich auch von Casablanca.

Inzwischen liebe ich diese Art von Geschenken selbst - z.B. ein "Paket" aus der Casablanca-DVD/Blueray + dem Buch, ggf. noch eine Flasche Martini, oder den Film/das Buch "Chocolat" + eine tolle Schokolade/Pralinen oder "Babettes Fest" + ein leckerer Fresskorb....

Als Kochbuch finde ich das Buch eher nicht so toll - es gibt keinerlei Fotos zu den Rezepten; die halte ich jedoch für relevant für die Zubereitung (manchmal verstehe ich sonst nicht, was gemeint ist bei Kochbuch-Beschreibungen). Dafür gibt es etliche Bilder und viele Informationen zum Film, z.B. als Rätsel oder Zitate.

Rick: "Ich bin Trinker."

Das wichtigste Rezept zum Film ist natürlich der Martini, ansonsten kann ich noch aus dem Buch den "Marokkanischen Couscous" und die "Süß eingelegten Zitronen-Plätzchen" empfehlen.

While the recipes are a very good selection of what would have been served at that time and place along with recipes that represent different characters – leading to an interesting mix of Northern-American-Northern Europe-Northern Africa food – the book doesn’t take things to the next step of examining the why’s behind things or dig into the history being served up. Everything’s just kinda dumped on the table with no explanations.
