Welcome to Spellbound, where paranormal is the new normal.
Life in Spellbound is rapidly changing and many residents are struggling to adapt. Daniel has a halo and a new wife, but still seeks a purpose that doesn't involve annoying Gareth. Meanwhile, Emma seems to be overflowing with purpose and is desperate for a moment of calm.
When coven officials from the national headquarters descend upon the town for an inspection of the local chapter and academy, the witches and wizards of Spellbound realize just how lax their standards have been. The last thing they need right now is a dead body--especially when it's discovered during the inspection. To make matters worse, reporters from Starry Hollow--another paranormal town--have arrived to write a story on Spellbound's liberation, but may end up covering a murder instead.
Will Emma manage to uncover the killer's identity before the entire coven implodes? Or will this spell the end for Spellbound's coven and its beloved Arabella St. Simon Academy?

Ok I loved this one trouble is a foot in the coven, new people are flowing into town now it’s not curse and the town is struggling a bit with all the changes coming to them with the curse being broken and I get that a lot of people are not sure breaking the curse was a good idea even though that’s what they all wanted when the curse was there.
Another fun read from Annabel Chase. The old gang (Emma, Daniel, Magpie and Gareth - just to name a few favs) is back and there are a couple of surprise guests. Things are never what they seem in Spellbound and this book brings more mystery and intrigue. Can't wait for the next story.
The concept in this volume is that a bunch of bureaucrats are coming to the town to 'evaluate' their coven. Then they can demand any changes be made that they want made.
The 'evaluation' has a number of problems that happen. At the same time Emma has a new client, a person accused of being a thief. It doesn't help things when he claims he is actually guilty.
It doesn't help the 'evaluation' when the group finds a dead witch in the Academy.
Things don't go well for Emma, either, when her spells don't seem to work the way they should.
The bureaucrats demand a number of changes be made whether or not the witches in the town that have lived there for a long time like it or not.
Emma also finds out why she's having trouble with what she thinks is digestive problems.
Okay. First, I think the characters from the previous series are done well. The problem the alleged thief has seems to have a very reasonable conclusion.
As for the bureaucrats, though, they come across as the nasties that they really are. It would be like if you have lived somewhere for a long time and some people come into your home and demand you make a bunch of changes.
What I would have liked to see is he coven in the town tell the bureaucrats where to stuff it. If it would mean they are considered a rogue coven, then so be it.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Yes ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Emma Hart Daniel Starr ---------------------------------- What happens? Emma Hart is part of the coven reestablishment with the academy and coven under review. When she is giving the officials a tour she stumbles upon the body of a fellow coven member. Throwing herself into the unofficial investigation in order to please the officials. She also defends a werelynx who is accused of stealing a toy for his sister. I wish we could see more of them together. Would I read again?: Yes Would I read this author again?: Yes Would I continue on with the series?: Yes
After much tooing and froing I finally managed to get this downloaded. It was worth the effort! Things have more or less settled down. She is now a happily married woman even though the housemates are still going through an uncertain period. Now that the borders have opened up they have been scheduled for a visit from the Witches Council. A death and untimely magic throws many a spanner into the works. Will they pass the inspection? Will she find the killer? Will she keep her latest case out of prison? Will the inhabitants of the house learn to live together? Prepare for the arrival of Ember and her vampire in this book and a surprise ending. Great fun read, although I wish they had let the seniors play more of a role against the team of inspectors. Great characters as always and wonderful to read of the new developments in their lives.
I've thoroughly enjoyed binge reading this entire series. Emma is a favorite. I loved the crossover from Starry Hollow in these two Spellbound Ever After books. I'm unsure of the timeline, so I'm not sure of what's happening between Alec and Ember Rose. At the end of that (SH) series, she "closed the door" on that relationship and here it appeared there was still a lot of tension between the two of them. I read all of the Starry Hollow books, then all of the Spellbound books, then the Warden of the West books and now these two Spellbound Ever After books. I think I'll give Ms. Chase a rest for now and move on to some other author's work for a while. I think there may be more of this series in the future. However, I do recommend these for a very entertaining, light weight paranormal mystery with a bit of humor splashed throughout.
.. as Spellbound continues to work out what to do now the world is open to them and visitors are pouring in an inspection of the coven is the last thing needed.
As the team of inspectors seem to want to distance the coven from other supernaturals and are horrified that they accept a fairy as Mayor is doesn't seem to be going well. Even less so when the truth about Lady Wetherby comes out and then as Emma takes them around the academy the body of a witch is found.
Can they prevent the inspectors from closing them down? Can they perform the Wheel of Time ceremony when no one seems to know what it is and will Emma be a help or hindrance? Change is coming but will it be for better or worse?
Annabel Chase has quickly become my new favorite author. I have read every one of her series in quick succession and can never wait for the next novel to come. Her characters are likeable and relatable, the world she has created and how the different towns and characters connect in each series is genius. I cannot wait for the next in this series as well as the next Starry Hollow book and anything else she can dream up. I hope she keeps coming out with engaging and fun stories for years to come.
Now that Spellbound's curse has been broken the coven is under scrutiny National headquarters has sent a contingency of witches and wizards to access Spellbound's coven. This doesn't bode well with the Spellbound coven. Emma has to show the around the academy when they stumble upon a dead witch. Also Emma has a new client and tries to keep the werelynx out of jail for stealing... Does Emma discover who killed the witch? Does she keep her client out of jail? You will have to read the story to find out
The coven is back and they have special visitors...actually they have A LOT of visitors....because the curse was broken, duh!?! Daniel has a new job. Emma has a new case. There's a crossover (not telling who!) Witchy priestess, dog, priest, voice, and mouth ( I'm just making things up now, I wasn't too impressed by their ideas...are all here...yeah, lots of people!I Fabulous read, as always!
The foreshadowing was great in this one. Entertaining read with an almost invisible murder mystery due to other story line. This didn't detract from the book though. It has so much going for it. Still love Agness she is always a hoot. The new character addition looks promising, though not sure what security he will actually provide. All in all I will say that I look forward to the next book.
This is a very cute series. Lots of changes come to Spellbound in this book. The national coven inspections team arrived to take charge and a body is found by Emma, while giving them a tour of the academy! Lots of humor and the all star cast returns with the latest installment of the Spellbound series. Annabel Chase's writing always makes me laugh. Well written and well edited.
I feel they each book keeps getting better. Personally I don’t know why they have to listen to the coven head quarters. They shouldn’t be allowed to say who is the coven head. I think that’s a bit ridiculous. Anyway, I like that the story progresses. She does need to put her foot down more often against her roommate. She loves him but jeeze he’s dead he doesn’t get a day in how they live day to day.
Oh my goodness! You are going to love the end of this book! I can't believe it. To think she might be. I don't want to ruin it for you so I will not say but you got to read this book. If you read the whole first series, like I did. You are going to love the results of this ending. And Daniel is now the officially has a job touring new people around the town. I love the series I'm off to get the Nextbook. E e k I can't read to read it.
This has become a go to series for me in light hearted fun that is full of character, heart and a feel good factor. Emma as always finds herself in the middle of murder, mayhem, and the usual magic that goes a bit awry. I particularly loved the appearance of our favourite Starry Hollow friends. As always a great read.
In this book spellbound has an inspection happening by some outsiders now that the borders are open. Everyone is trying to settle into their new realities. Ember Rose and Alex make an appearance to write an article on the newly opening town. They didn't have much of a role in the story which I found quite disappointing. Nice twist at the end.
A very entertaining witchy cozy mystery series. Great cast of characters in a very entertaining new magical world intertwined with the normal world. All the paranormal creatures people animals in a very exciting and entertaining series. Definitely a must read check them out
The murder in this one is just sad. The settling of the spell removal isn't all plain sailing. Having the coven assessment team come in to do there thing is annoying to say the least. Hopefully future stories will let them jmow that Spellbound is resident to many paranormals and not just witches.
This series continues the saga of Spellbound after the curse that trapped the entire town inside the city limits. There are some new characters in the town but all the characters from the first series are there. Emma Hart and her handsome husband Daniel are settling into married life. You'll love this series.
As Spellbound tries to adjust to bring open to the world, coven HQ likewise tries to bring the coven into compliance with organization standards. Social commentary excepted, this is another lighthearted visit that will make you smile. Look for the visit from Starry Hollow's intrepid reporting team. Recommended
I was anticipating the National representatives for coven to have wands up their butts, and was not disappointed. It was gratifying to see Emma being supported, and more humorous than I expected. I do prefer the sleuthing to be for cases like the theft. I see no reason that Spellbound should have so many murders.
Don't miss this one, it's filled with plenty of excitement, surprises, suspense, danger, magic and wonderful friends. Great story filled with a wonderful mystery. I would recommend this to would recommend this to everyone who enjoys reading magic and exciting mysteries.
I enjoyed this book and following along with the residents of Spellbound as changes come along with the open borders. Emma as always finds herself investigating yet another murder. The book ended with a big surprise and I can’t wait to dive into the next book!
Book 2 has humor, angst, murder, other crime, mystery, an invasion of National Witch Council, upheaval all over, and love. Spellbound is not ready for an invasion of outside paranormals, vacationing or otherwise. And there is still harmonious discord at home. And a major surprise ending. Highly entertaining.
I love how this world keeps on developing. I am enjoying the open borders of Spellbound and the people that are coming to visit. It was nice to see and read about the visitors from Starry Hollow. Murder, family and love. Everything this story has. Enjoy!
The introduction of the Coven has been a great edition and I can't wait to see where it goes. I fel so sorry for the invisible witches but I hope Emma goes back to the book club. That looked a hoot. Imagine Agnes included.
Seeing what is happening in Spellbound after the curse has been broken has been fun. I recommend you start with the first series, Spellbound Paranormal Cozy Mystery, before reading this series.
This book brought the two fictional & related magical areas together. It was an interesting premise. I’m looking forward to more from this series & the Starry Hollow series.
