They were once feared and forced to live in the shadows. But as modern society grew more enlightened, human beings began to realize that monsters like succubi, dullahans, and vampires deserve public services as much as anyone. Still, a girls’ high school for monsters? It sounds like a nightmare, but for one man it’s a dream job. Tetsuo has always been fascinated by “demi-humans,” and a job opening for a biology teacher at this school is his chance to see them firsthand!
The volume contains 3 multi-part stories (all two parts each), so it really is getting interesting while moving the character development plus adding a new character in Kaoru the Kijimunaa (tree spirit). This is another great volume in a series that picking up steam and getting better while maintaining this as a relaxing read with great story, great art, and well developed characters.
This has some of my favorite chapters / interactions so far. One between the two main teachers (human Takahashi Sensei and sucubus Satou sensei) and they talk about teenage girl crushes, and the appropriateness of certain things. It really delivers on showing that Satou is a wonderful teacher and can also give good advice, developing her as a character that is more than what she is. And this follows some earlier chapters where she shined as a teacher and mentor foremost, that of course could understand the other monster girls on that level, but that isn't all.
And then! The volume ended on a cliff hanger!! Wasn’t expecting that from this series… got me excited to continue (once I get the next volume)! I’m guessing, given the wholesome nature of the series, that everything is fine and this might work out to the benefit of all involved. But still an exciting development to see how various monster girls' dimensional powers can interact and effect things! Plus the pseudo science used to explain and/or speculate really add to the believability of it all (within this setting).
loved the addition of kaoru, who is a kijimunaa - her special abilities add a new twist, since she can read other people's auras (basically understand their thoughts/intents, almost like mind reading, but less precise). she is standoffish at first, but quickly warms to the group, who all look up to her. we get more physics/other dimension theorizing (this is starting to get a bit wild, lol), plus some extra developments between tetsuo and sakie (how cute are their inner thoughts...). loved again the reiterating that tetsuo would/could never see a student as anything more, and it was surprisingly heartwarming to see sakie pushing for confrontation/resolution to machi's crush...basically, to take her feelings seriously, even if it's just young love. the end is crazy - are they finally all going to be able to see the zashiki warashi??

A fantastic series. I'm sad there's no more to read right now.
I hope further volumes in English will be forthcoming, I'm really digging this manga. Art, simple yet fitting. Dialogue, very good, a bit too much monologuing at times. Characters, likeable, loveable, adorable.
This is an adorable series that makes you feel warm and fluffy inside, but also can make you think hard on some subjects like love and interdimensional wormholes.
Crushes on a teacher are hard and often they're not addressed. Tetsuo quickly shuts down the idea of romantic feelings for one of his students. Having his role as a teacher, and educator, quite clear.
However he's also quite clear abou his feelings for Sakie. Interesting indeed.
