Full review soon.
For some reason this series was discontinued in English officially so it's difficult to find it in English. I've haven't read this volume in a while but once I reread it I'll review it properly.

Also I realize that most of the criticism on this manga are by chicks that thought this was gonna just be some Bishonen manga but then they were like " oh no real plot wheres the romance?! noooooooooooo"
I swear that's all they think about.

I’m done with anime and manga relying on sexual harassment to try and be “funny”. Fan service is annoying on its own but when it comes at the cost of someone’s bodily autonomy I’m done.

Literally in the second chapter Sakura’s chest gets groped by the VICE PRESIDENT OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL and it’s just played off as “quirky” instead of predatory and Sakura is clearly uncomfortable as she’s pushed into letting herself be groped to appease the perverted Fujiwara.

Then in the next chapter we meet Toki, another Code Breaker who ends up being the brother of Fujiwara, and almost immediately after meeting her, he grabs Sakura’s chest and demands to know if Sakura and Ogami have been physically intimate. Sure Sakura punches him in retaliation but seriously who the fuck does that?

I’m dropping this series and unhauling it at the first chance I get.

Tapiiii... daku gak punya jilid 3-nya!!

Ordinarily, I take the time to write a thorough and logical review of a book. But I'm just going to come right out here and say it: this series sucks. The characters are all over the place, the villains about as eye-rolling a group as cliches as ever walked a manga, the plot hackneyed and unoriginal, and the artwork lacking nuance and interest. Honestly, it is a hot mess.

Story: Sakura has decided to 'save' Oogami - so she follows him around trying to interrupt his 'burning to ash'. Enter another code breaker - one far less conflicted than Oogami. So Sakura will throw herself in front of him as well. With the help of her puppy.

I checked out both manga at the library at the same time. I was far from enamored by the first volume but thought to give this second one a try in case the story really does get better. Yeah - that didn't happen. Inexplicably, it got worse. This story has no idea what it wants to be - gritty urban fantasy, comedic shounen ecchi, parable on the modern world featuring conflicted anti hero? It fails to nail any of those and instead recycles every shounen/seinen urban fantasy of the past 10 years.

Perhaps most egregious problem is the protagonist, Sakura. I'm not quite sure why a female manga felt the need to lobotomize her protagonize, but I can't recall when I've been more disgusted by a character in a very long time. It's a case where I wish Oogami had actually burned her up and saved us her pathetic moralizing diatribes. This should have been a Death Note - edgy, intelligent, and with a morally corrupt lead. But no, not even close - imagine Charlie Brown as a killer and Lucy following him around sermonizing.

The cliches - oh the cliches! Seriously: take the scene where Sakura rushes in to save the villain from being assassinated by Oogami. After pleading for his life, does he repent? Oh heck no, he sneakily waits until her back is turned and then tries to stab her while crowing about his evilness. Really? Worse - this is the *exact* same situation as in book one with the villain in that one. It made me want to bonk my head on my desk.

For me, the only question I didn't get answered is how no one managed to kill off Sakura and put us out of our misery. Certainly, she threw herself into danger every other panel so there was always hope.....

Seru seru....

More mysteries???

I was hoping for better character development in this second volume. That being said, it was still a decent read. The story is pretty interesting - certainly full of action. But sad to say, I find moralistic Sakura annoying in her inflexible views of right and wrong (though the viewpoint itself is certainly reasonable). And ultimately, the best stories for me are the perfect marriage of a strong story/plot and charismatic, well-developed characters that have great chemistry with each other. The story in Code Breaker is decent, but the characters feel flat, and I don't find the connection between Sakura and Toki compelling in the least. I need to at least feel a more genuine pull between Sakura and Toki before I can rate the series higher.

Overall Rating: ... 6/10 - I always forget that I've read this... No seriously. I always forget. So this isn't a bad series. The arcs were kinda messy, and I would say every villain of each arc pointed the finger towards the next one. Explaining certain characters especially Sakura took way too long.. Her's as well as the whole plot of the series and the founders was at the end, literally at the end. I just wanted it to be over... The only thing I liked at the end was the ending itself. It was a quiet happy ending, not a fairy tale like ending. I believe the manga and the series took different paths at some point.

Do I recommend it:
