One awkward billionaire. One failed psychic. A tale as old as time...
Lola Pink is in all shades of trouble. Her shop is still under construction, she’s sort-of-fired from her job, and her hottest date this week is with a microwave burrito. However, when Dane Clark finds himself at the center of a murder investigation, Lola slips on her gorgeous vintage sunglasses and takes the case.
She’s determined to prove that her sometimes-boss, sometimes-boyfriend is innocent, even if that means dealing with Dane’s “charming” parents and planning a “splendid” charity gala in under two weeks. However, it doesn’t take psychic powers for Lola to see that the closer she gets to uncovering the murderer, the more danger she’s in—and this killer isn’t afraid to strike again.
With Lola struggling to piece together love, career, and a murder investigation, she wonders if her relationship with Dane Clark is destined for failure, or if maybe, it’s been written in the stars all along...
** ** ** ** This novel is a full-length, humorous romantic mystery featuring a splash of humor, a hint of mystery, and a dash of romance. It's rated PG-13 due to some strong language. Though it's the beginning of a series, this book can be read and enjoyed completely as a standalone.
Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Gina LaManna has also called Italy and Los Angeles home. After studying numbers and equations in college, she realized multiple choice tests were “just not for her” and began writing books instead. She loves cappuccino foam and whipped cream and would subsist solely on sprinkles if possible. She currently lives in St. Paul with her wonderful husband and family.
It’s so lovely when a sequel is actually better than the first book in a series. I really enjoyed this one. Lola is wonderful as ever, and the relationship developing ticked all the boxes. Dane is also an intriguing character with his lacking social skills, but at the same time his willingness to see and understand Lola. The mystery part of the book was also satisfying, with a brilliant solution with some real suspense. So sad there are only three books as I’ve fallen in love with the people in this book.
Safe! Super cute Cozy mystery The romance is sweet and endearing they are sold by the end of this one The mystery was fun Audiobook easy to listen to and good
Mild OWD- a model that the H works w is interested in him. He is not interested and definitely Ahmad never been involved w her.
Neither are V Both been in. Handful of short relationships Neither have been in love before No MANWHORE‼️
How could any gal not fall head over heels for Dane omg such a sweetheart in a geeky awkward exasperating way......lol
Poor Lola has her hands full but I'm thinking her hands are pretty happy if they are full of Dane Clark......
So we have a dead model or wanna be model who also wanted to be rich and famous and everyone pretty much just looks right at the handsome billionaire because she was hired as his model for company photos hmm yep no wonder Lola is on the case to prove Dane's innocence.
Omg meeting the parents was pure awesomeness, awkwardness and usefulness all rolled into one dinner, I truly felt like punching both of his parents by the end of it but I'm glad Dane and Lola stuck together.
And the ending, the ending was perfect and gave hints of more wonders to come.
I'm also with Lola, Dane would make an awesome Dad some day.... lol
Lola and the Sunshine Girls are back! This time she’s trying to solve a murder and clear Dane’s name. Lots of mystery and romance will keep you turning the pages. And a big surprise! Can’t wait for more Lola & Dane.
BEWARE: Read Book 1 FIRST or you'll be lost. You have to read that one to understand why the characters are the way they are. This one introduces us to more of Danes (our hero) family (A family which makes his relationship with Lola all the more puzzling) and another murder, but who dies this time? And who are they trying to pin it on? ARE they guilty? I don't want to be a spoiler, so you have to read it. If you liked the first one, you won't be disappointed with the second.
I love Lola Pink! This book kept me hooked. I didn't want to put it down. Lola, her friends, and their adventures are what most women want their life to be like. Who doesn't want to work for and then fall in love with a billionaire. Dane just seems absolutely adorable and head over heels in love, even if he is a little quirky. The dynamic between these two characters was truly fun to read. I haven't read a Gina LaManna book that I didn't love!!! Keep up the amazing work and you'll always have a fan in me!!
If you like a sweet romance with a lot of laughs, family drama all wrapped up in a murder, then you will love this series! This is book 2 and Lola Pink, so not sure of herself in the love department, yet able to give advice to a hilarious bar owner's son can't decide whether her on again off again clueless boss, Dane, cares about her like she does about him. But is it love? Lola's boss is extremely OCD organized to every minute of his day, and Lola tries to get him to lighten up. He has been starting to awkwardly show he cares of Lola and steals kisses when he can. We once again have all the supporting characters that are so much fun and of course in Lola's corner. We get to meet Dane's parents. What a hilarious trip that is! Dane's mother is definitely "Mommy Dearest!" She looks down on Lola and can't see why Dane wants to be on such terms with his "help" a direct barb toward Lola. Not to be dictated to by his mother and father while their noses are so high up in the air, he has them leave his home and stay with his uncle. I cheered at that move, he stood up to his parents for what he felt was right. Well with a model shoot at Dane's home, Lola wonders about how he really feels about her. But Dane is totally standoffish with the model and wants nothing to do with her except business for the ad campaign for his company. When the model is found dead, and there appears to be an incriminating piece of evidence belonging to Dane, he is being questioned as the prime suspect for her murder. Lola and her Bffs, Babs and Annalise are on the case. Dane starts to really loosen up and although he knows he can't stop Lola from investigating, he is worried. But they go closer. Will Dane make the move and make their relationship a real thing? So much in this story that you just can't put it down! Laughs, mystery, twists and turns, family drama all wrapped up in a tidy fantastic read! I received an ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Meet Lola Pink... the socially awkward whisperer. Book two is equal parts mystery and romance. Lola's employer and sorta boyfriend (although they don't have a label on what they are,) is a prime suspect in the murder of an up and coming model. She sets out to not only prove his innocence, but also to seek justice for the women. All the while receiving unexpected visits from a man whom needs her help getting his ex-girlfriend to take him back... even if he thinks golf is the way to her heart. In addition to playing detective and love guru, Lola's schedule keeps getting busier and busier as she inadvertently volunteered herself to plan a charity gala in a two week time span. Lola and Dane (her beau) meet in book one when she's hired for a temp job with him. Their relationship starts there and escalates in this book. We see awkward Dane start to better understand women, Lola in particular, and his feelings for her. He starts to transform from awkward to romantic, even if he is still hesitant about how and what to do.
The characters are quite colorful. The story itself is full of fun moments as well as lots of sweet romantic scenes. (It is a clean read and any sex involved is just eluded to and not played out.) The mystery is just complex enough, but not overly so with plenty of suspects. There is the one 'fight scene' as Lola discovers who the killer is. The book is well written and reads quickly and easily. Written strictly from Lola's POV. Safe read for teens and up. This is book two of the series, but can be read as a stand alone. (There is mention of events that happened in book one, but you aren't required to read it to follow.)
*I volunteered to review an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
I am sure Gina gets tired of reading this (or not 🤩) but this is another terrific book in her stable of successful books. Lola Pink is BACK!😎Vintage sunglasses at the ready, she tackles whatever comes her way with determination and a unique way of viewing the situation. When Dane is about to get bawled out by his mother concerning a major charity event he was to have planned but actually forgot about, Lola jumps in and takes the blame while starting on the daunting job with less than two weeks until D-day. She will go to any lengths to get the job done, including getting an unwanted perm in hopes the beautician will recommend a venue.
There are so many funny situations in this book that I felt like all I did was laugh! Meeting Dane's parents was humorous because of course mother dearest thought Lola was a maid who wasn't doing her job. To call his mother a pickle would be a discredit to pickles everywhere, but you get the general idea. One of my favorite images of her was when at dinner she cut a pea in half.
Of course Ms LaManna doesn't only write humor. One heck of a murder mystery can be found within the book. Also she seems to be able to give good advice of the heart to an irritating client who has little charm and less good sense in the beginning of the book. And there is deep seated friendship, genuine appreciation of people and all they do, and lastly romance. (I probably should have lead with that one! It is pretty great!)
I'm afraid Lacey Luzzi and Lily Locke need to step to the left and make room for Lola Pink, because like the others, she is here to stay! (And that's the best news possible!)
Lola Pink is in all shades of trouble. Her shop is still under construction, she’s sort of fired from her job, and her hottest date this week is with a microwave burrito. Lola and Dane are dating but kinda not He is still her boss not actually So the girl he is supposed to be dating in the public eye ends up dead and Lola is working to clear his name. After so many awkward moments, romance, uncomfortable encounters with the possible in-laws, Dane proposes, huh there's that.
First: this book is not a standalone and picks up short after book 1. If you haven't read the first book you will be lost.
Lola is still working for Dane as his personal assistant but she recognizes she has feelings for him. Especially when he is accused of killing Andrea, a model who was doing a photoshoot with him. Lola tries to investigate, meanwhile juggling to organize a major charity event for Dane's family. Meeting the parents can be stressful as well. Fortunately she can always count on her two best girlfriends!
I enjoyed the blossoming romance between Lola and Dane. It was sooner than I expected, but no complaints here. It was a rather fast read and not too complicated. I am looking forward to the next as I would like to read more about Dane's company and mysterious Warehouse 11.
This is a great book; this is the second book in the Lola Pink Mystery Series written by Gina LaManna. This book has it all, romance, humor, and mystery. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Things really heat up for Lola Pink in this story.
When it starts looking like smooth sailing from here on out, Lola’s life turns upside down. She dives head first into a murder investigation when her boss/boyfriend is the prime suspect. On top of the investigation, she has to deal with Dane’s parents and put together a last minute charity gala.
This is a fun and often humorous story. Lola and Dane’s relationship is strange but it works for them until it doesn’t. Things have to change because of everything going on.
I liked this story and trying to figure out who the real murderer was. There are new people to get to know in this story.
Grab this book and enjoy Lola’s newest adventure. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading Shades of Pink first.
The second in the series and, in my opinion, this is even weaker than the first. I will not be pursuing the rest of the series. This is not the best work of this author. It’s a bit lacklustre including the ‘incidental’ murder and it’s solution… More focus was put on the future in-laws, with no character development included. The Billionaire is rather robotic, rather than remote, that may be the narrator rather than how he was written. I listened to the audiobook version of this title.
To be honest, I skipped about 5 chapters until I got to the ‘whodunnit’, then listened to the chapter afterwards, then I was done! The tale is too long and could have been resolved with at least 10 fewer chapters!
I wholeheartedly recommend ‘Shoot The Breeze’ by this author rather than this series.
Wow! What a great book and series! I feel like I know Lola and she really makes me laugh! This book was full of romance and suspense. It was a perfect follow-up to Shades of Pink (which I would suggest reading first to get the benefit of some sub-plots and background). Ms. LaManna does a wonderful job of describing the characters and settings. I feel like I’m there. The plot is fast moving and well written. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a great storyline and characters that make you want to know them. This book was gifted to me by the author for purposes of an unbiased review.
I’ve been working my way through all of Gina LaManna’s books and every single one so far has knocked it out of the park. I love her knack for romantic connections mixed with simple and interesting mysteries. So many cozy books seem afraid of the romantic aspects of their characters relationships, opting instead for weird platonic romance that is awkward to read, and I love how LaManna strikes a perfect balance, yet keeps it totally PG (to be clear, I also love a good steamy romance, but that’s a totally different genre and standard) I’ve added her books to my auto purchase list and can’t wait for the next book in this series!
I’m pretty picky about the books I read. So many romance novels have the same old plot. Gina’s books are fun and well written. Good character descriptions. Lola Pink is quite an independent person. She has loyal friends. Dane is an interesting man with awkwardness but willingness to learn to love and understand emotions. Some things I couldn’t relate to (I’m 73 years young) was her sunglasses collection. Who collects vintage sunglasses? And her not wanting to drive a car but ride her bike everywhere but I was happy Dane bought her an e-bike! Smart fellow. Read and enjoy this book!
This was a very quick read. I love this authors work so when I seen it in KU I knew I had to grab it. I was not disappointed. Lola is a great person. This book had everything you was looking for. Suspense and romance by the bucket loads. This book moves at a fast pace and doesn't take to long to read. I am glad to see Dane has grown since the last book. He had me worried. Lola's friends are also very supportive and seem to add just what you need for this book to have a little extra oomph. I look forward to moving on to the next book.
Wow I could not put this down even though it took me way past my bedtime. I love that Gina gave Lola a little ditz, a little glitz, the abilities to take care of bullies on her own. The laughter and the Sunshine girls club gang are amazing, reminding you of your girl and the fun you all have together. Gina is the best author out there and if you have not read all her series what are you waiting for?
I love Lola Pink! She is genuine & guileless, & just happens to be working as the personal assistant & falling for the very handsome yet quirky billionaire Dane Clark. This time poor Dane is accused of murder & Lola has to prove his innocence, plan a charity gala, & deal with his snobbish parents. Author Gina LaManna always makes me laugh with her great characters & fast moving plots.
Enjoyed this book and all the quirkiness of the characters. There were many twists and possible suspects along with the building romance between Lola and Dane. The book seemed to have more romance than mystery, which is not my favorite mixture. The newest character Richard is a hoot and I hope he is in future Lola Pink books. I received an advanced copy for a review; however, the opinions expressed are my own.
Lola & Dane! So cute in love! The handsome, rich, socially inept Dane & pretty, down to earth, uncomplicated Lola. Working as Dave's assistant, she sees the real Dane & falls in love with him. He falls equally as hard for her. Throw in murder with fingers pointing at them, they work on finding out who the real killer is. I like the characters & the evolving storyline. Looking forward to the next in this series.
Lola Pink is right up there with unlikely sleuth Stephanie Plum! Gina LaManna introduces us to characters who are both multifaceted and multitalented;creating a multitude of enjoyment for the reader! Grab a glass of your favorite wine, head to the beach, poolside, the chaise in your backyard, or a cozy chair by the fireplace and get to know Lola for an afternoon that will leave you feeling “ in the PINK” ! Lola Pink, that is!
The story moves along at a nice pace from the beginning to the end, making this a quick, light read. We continue through Lola Pink's life after solving the case of the missing blueprints and almost dying in the first book. I really appreciate the way Gina intertwined murder into the story without making it seem unrealistic. As always, Lola gets herself into some tight situations that she humorously escapes. And of course, solves the murder to save the day.
Love love love the story of Lola and Dane!! I cant wait to read the next installment and hope for many many more!! Ms LaManna writes with vivid imagery! I can see the castle and the warehouses in my minds eye so vividly!! I can hear the characters voices and just love all their little quirks!! The Sunshine sisters remind me of my two best friends growing up!! Would love to perch on the watertower with them!!!
I loved this book. The characters are so well written that I feel like I know them. I am close to a few people that are intraverted and Dane is perfect. And Lola is the perfect extrovert trying to understand him and protect him from the craziness of life. There is one part where one of her best friends explains to Dane that he cannot keep Lola all to himself. I love it. Great story.
This picks up shortly after the first book. Lola is back at it again this time trying to solve a murder. Dane is being framed so Lola is on the hunt to track down the murderer. I loved all the shenanigans Lola and her friends get into along the way. I enjoyed all the Lola and Dane moments! They’re so adorable together! I can’t wait to read more about them
This is book 2 of the Lola Pink Mystery Series, highly recommend you pick up book 1 and read that first. Not only is book one a really good read, if you don't read that first you may be a little lost in some places in this one. Love the series & the characters! Any book by Gina LaManna is worth picking up.
Lola Pink and her friends and family was such a breath of freshness. I needed a break from such serious crime fiction and I found Gina LaManna.....now I will continue reading the next in this series as well as the other books. What a great read!!! Thanks💃
This second book wasn’t as good as the first in the series. I felt that the relationship between the two main characters was forced and moved WAY too fast. Maybe if there were more scenes with Dane and Lola it wouldn’t have felt so rushed. The storyline was predictable. I really liked the first book so I’ll read the next one and hopefully that one will be better.
