DNF - I read the first 7 stories and decided that this just wasn’t for me. I enjoy pirate books, but these seemed too slow paced and often incomplete.

I was writing reviews for each as I read them, so even though it’s only for a few of them, here they are:

1. Blow The Man Down - 3/5
This was a good story to start this anthology with. I didn’t love it, it just didn’t really hook me in, but it was a good, quick read.

2. Forsaken - 2/5
This was actually really similar to the first story, but I found it to be a bit slower paced despite being slightly shorter. It was fine, but meh.

3. Here There Be Monsters - 2.5/5
This story was just okay. It started a bit slow, then got interesting, but then it kind of just got confusing? I guess it just wasn’t for me.

4. Requiem For A New World - 1/5
I honestly was just really bored reading this story. Despite its short length, I found myself wanting to skim read a lot of it, because it just wasn’t pulling me in.

5. Ocypete - 1.5/5
I didn’t care for this story. It was short, which at least made it a pretty quick read.

6. The Secret Sharer - DNF
I couldn’t get into this story. I tried a few times, and it just didn’t work for me.

7. Huitzilopochtli, God of Human Sacrifice - 2.5/5
This was fine, interesting honestly, but it felt incomplete.

"Since the first man gazed upon the ocean, he has feared it."

Christine van Antwerp: Blow the Man down

Brad Carson: Here there be Monsters

Adrian Chamberlin: Requiem for a New World

Joseph Conrad: The Secret Sharer

Abgebrochen.

James Fenimore Cooper: The Red Rover (Ch 1-4)

A propos seltsam: Wo atmet man, wenn man einen JFC-Satz vorliest? Abgebrochen.

Stephen Crane: The open Boat

F. Marion Crawford: Man overboard!

This book is really amazing! It's a bundle of many different Pirate stories and each of them are amazing. It's really not just the same story over and over again, but each story is completely different and unique! Many classics.

Like many short story books this one had its mix of bad, good, and great stories. I wasn't a huge fan of the stories that only included excerpts and not a full story. That being said, my favorite stories were in the beginning of the book and the end. If you like pirate and ghost stories then you will probably enjoy this.

*3.5/5

As the case with a lot of collection books I've read, I have to say I was not a huge fan of some of the stories in this but I did absolutely adore a majority of them. Again, just can't get over the ones I had to drag myself through
