Surprisingly good system for children. It is perhaps the best children's RPG system I have read so far. I look forward to working with this system with my children. Cavatore, the famous war game designer, does a first rate job here. The system is clear, easy and perfect for children with just basic reading and arithmetic skills.

An absolute delight of a roleplaying game. My daughter is enchanted. Personally I also like the very good guidance for GM'S and the extreme focus on non-violent solutions.
The only mechanic that is underwhelming is the exploding hoof, which sounds interesting, but in reality rarely leads to success - I will houserule this differently, probably simply adopting 'normal' exploding dice.

I love the idea that your friendship tokens, the in game currency, is really more powerful if you spend them for someone else. Rarely have I seen such an intuitive way of motivating cooperation. This is an idea I will probably take over for other roleplaying games where I want to push for more teamwork.

Read through this and made characters with my kids so we can run a game. We started with the Pet adventure at the end of this book and my kids loved it!

I kind of wish I'd have suitable young minds to corrupt into roleplaying with this. But then I remembered I don't really like kids. So grown-ups it is, will see how they manage in a storytelling game where bashing things with a sword is not an option...

I ran a game of this for my regular roleplaying group. They were highly sceptical, and playing highly inappropriate characters for the setting. But by the end they were solving problems through talking and using the power of friendship. It's insidious.

This was a joy to play, somewhat poorly defined rules but it made it easy to build our own game with my daughter :)

Lovely intro to tabletop RPGs. It's great that the first adventure is with the core rules so you can immediately start playing. Image quality on illustrations is hit/miss and subsequent editions would benefit from a better editor to catch the few inconsistencies throughout the book.
