This sourcebook provides information about the Beta Quadrant for the Star Trek Adventures roleplaying system. Major powers that are covered are the Federation, the Klingons, the Romulans, the Gorn, and the Orion Syndicate. That's basically all that you need for a classic Trek adventure. Towards the end of the book, there are a few short adventures that could be used for one-shot sessions. Like the core book, most pages have logs and communications in the sidebars. At first these seem like fluff, but actually they could all be used as seeds for planning your own adventures. If you like the Star Trek Adventures system, this is worth picking up.

A really good tour of the major powers of the Beta Quadrant. Even setting the game aside, this book makes for a great encyclopedic reference. I think it would be enjoyable reading for any Star Trek fan.

I take off one star for the Orion picture. I don't care if it's true to the source material; it's objectification and it's inappropriate. I'm not familiar with the behind-the-scenes development of the Orions but it sure sounds like some man's fantasy.

Can't do much better than Diz's review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....

Just one additional point that this is the book to get if you want to help emulating the original series with summaries of the Andorian and Vulcan home worlds and the traditional enemies: Klingons, Romulans, and Orions.

The first sourcebook released by Modiphius for their Star Trek Adventures series is terrific. It is well-written, entertaining and informative for both players and GMs, expanding options for both. Highly recommended!

Compared to the Star Trek Adventures Alpha Quadrant Sourcebook, this one felt like it had much more to offer—both from the point of view of species that felt far, far more interesting (and familiar) to add to the options for players, and also from the descriptions of the worlds, the ships—I really appreciated more Federation Civilian ships—and while it was still very heavy on the fluff—whole pages with transmissions and logs and while they're sometimes a nice way to underline or highlight a rule in the Corebook, in these sourcebooks they feel a lot like filler.

And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention, once again, just how much I dislike the layout and formatting of these books. Whoever decided a black pages with multicoloured rather-small font text made a frustrating choice for anyone without completely perfect vision. I'm glad I have this one as a PDF rather than a print book, as I can zoom in and read the damn thing. I'm nearsighted, and I struggle with these manuals. I can only imagine how someone with even mild vision struggles would make their way through these books. Sure, it looks like LCARS, but that could have been accomplished on a white background with black print. (Heck, Last Unicorn Games had a very "Trek" feel to it and used dark blue-on-white.)
