‘Don’t you agree Detective? That some people deserve to die? I’ve killed the first. I’ve killed the second. Now will you catch the others, or do I have to kill them too?’

The body of Amos Price lies in a pool of blood on the polished floor of an otherwise empty house. With no signs of a break in, and no clues left at the scene, Detective Jenna Alton is at a loss.

But as the team begins to unpick the life of the reclusive victim, they discover a disturbing link between Amos and the disappearance of several young girls in the county going back years.

Days later, another brutally murdered body is found, in a remote motel on the outskirts of town. Ely Dorsey was killed in a frenzied attack and Jenna fears not only that the murders are connected to the missing girls, but that the killer hasn’t finished yet.

As Jenna tries to work out who will be next, the killer suddenly starts sending her deputy, David Kane, messages. Is she being taunted? Or does the murderer want to be caught? And will Jenna discover who’s behind these killings before more people die?

4 Dark Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the third book in the Kane and Alten series... A dark and gritty police procedural set in a small town...A town with a history of missing girls....

Two dead bodies... are the murders connected and even more troubling are they connected to these missing girls.... Jenna Alton is a female detective with an edge... sometimes bordering on being rude... this case was also quite dark, and I’m still conflicted as to whether or not I wanted the ”bad guy” to be caught... is murder ever justified?

Jenna might not be my favorite female detective, but she is affective.... I also enjoyed the dynamics between David Kane and her.... I liked how the team went about solving the case and I appreciated the twists and turns....

Recommend if you are a fan of the police procedural with a darker tone....

Follow Me Home by D.K. Hood is the third book in the Detectives Kane and Alton police procedural series. The opening book of the series introduced readers to a pair of detectives that have their own pasts they were hiding from. Both are tough as nails and determined to find out who is behind the crimes in the small town while they navigate the waters of their own working relationship.

In this installment Kane and Alton have yet another dead body and a killer to find when a man is found inside of a locked home. Clues begin to lead the detectives to find that the victim may have been a criminal himself with ties to missing children. As another body turns up they find themselves not only chasing a killer but hunting down a ring of child molesters that crimes seem to go back decades.

Being the third book in the series I already knew these detectives and the small town of Black Rock Falls quite well so there didn’t seem to be reason to question liking that side of the story. Getting into this installment though this wasn’t my favorite case of the series so far though.

There’s a part of me that would just rather the vigilante hunting down the pond scum that have traumatized young children just continue on with chasing them down. Then as the story turns to that case it almost seems as if it’s to protect the ring of molesters from being murdered instead of protecting the children. While not my favorite of the series though I would still head back to Black Rock again in the future.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

4☆ A Taut Crime Thriller

Follow Me Home is the third book in the series. But My first book. I feel although this was ok as a standalone, to really get to know the characters and to form an opinion on if the characters make good detectives I think it helps to have read previous books.

Follow Me Home is a nicely paced gritty crime fiction, with a dark undertone.
Some readers may find some of the subjects a lil difficult as it does contain child abuse.

This is very much a cat and mouse chase to stop the killer and work out who they are. With a potential serial killer on the loose, and puzzles to solve from the killer can Detective Alton and Kane stop the Killer before it's too late

I didn't particularly like Detective Jenna Alton she comes across as rude and at times a little ungrateful. I get she is passionate about solving crime but being appreciative helps the team stay motivated to help each other. However I can only go by this book as I haven't yet read the others. I could be completely wrong about her.

Follow Me Home is a well written taut crime thriller.
Hood creates the perfect amount of suspense, that kept me turning pages.
It's dark undertones and thrilling twists make for a compulsive read.

If you love taut crime thrillers that keep you guessing then I recommend reading this gripping book.
However I do recommend you start at the beginning.
I am looking forward to reading more from DK Hood!

Thank you to Bookouture for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Follow You Home is book 3 in the Detective Kane and Alton series. In my opinion this series just keeps getting better, although this one is very dark and deals with a tough subject which is hard to read at times..

The pair are called to the the scene when a man is found murdered in a secluded cabin. Days a later another man is found dead and it becomes clear that the murders are linked and they have a vigilante killer on their hands. Things escalate and the detectives race to stop the killer before they strike again.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read in exchange for my honest review

I read this last night, and decided I would have to stay up until I finished it, I wanted to find out about the conclusion. This has become a great series and gets better with each book! I have to flag up that there the story does include child abuse and paedophiles so it can be a little hard to read in parts due to this.

A really fab read which was twist filled, engaging, and very very chilling. The fast pace means you continue to turn the pages, then you hit the finale without realising you're at the end. I found it riveting, it's amazing when a book has an interesting narrative that keeps your attention right the way through like this did. I love it when the author manages to shock you with the ending and Hood definitely surprised me here.

I would like to thank DK Hood, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Detective Jenna Alton is an ex-undercover DEA Agent, living in witness protection with a new face and a new name, in the small town of Black Rock Falls.

Over several years, young girls have gone missing .. never to be seen or heard from again. When Jenna and her team are called to investigate the brutal of a man, they are surprised to find a link to those missing girls.

Days later, another man's body is found ... killed in a frenzied attack and Jenna fears not only that the murders are connected to the missing girls, but that the killer hasn’t finished yet.

As Jenna tries to work out who will be next, the killer suddenly starts sending her deputy, David Kane, messages. Is she being taunted? Or does the murderer want to be caught? And will Jenna discover who’s behind these killings before more people die?

Black Rock Falls is a bottomless pit of secrets. Smoke and shadows cloak the real story of what is happening .. and it's far more evil than anyone could understand.

Fans of crime fiction will find this one edgy and suspenseful starting with the very first page. There are intense twists and turns that keep the reader riveted to the written page.

Although this is third in the series, it is easily read as a stand alone. As usual, I recommend starting with the first book so as to not miss any of those golden nuggets that make the reader go WOW!

I can't really say that the characters are credible in comparison with real life law enforcement. Although Jenna and her deputies seem to have super skills, it is a compelling read. The only negative I can relay is that in this particular book, Jenna seems to be bossy, even rude at times, to the very people who are watching her back at every moment. She seems to be a harder character than in the first two books.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy of this crime thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This is the third book in the series but I read it as a stand-alone which was ok. I felt like you really need to read the others to get to know the characters.

I did find myself drawn into this dark and gritty thriller and will definitely start the series from the first book, now I have had a taste of these complex characters.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

Follow Me Home is book three in the Detectives Kane and Alton series by D. K. Hood. Sheriff Alton, though, finally has a day off to relax. However, that did not happen, and she caught a case of the death of a man found in a local open house. At first, Sharrif Alton and her deputies could not find the motive for the killing. However, when the second body turns up, the reasons for the killings start to emerge. The readers of Follow Me Home will continue to follow Sheriff Alton and deputy Kane to discover what happens.

Follow Me Home is another fantastic book in this excellent series by D. K. Hood. Follow Me Home is the third book I read in this series, and it kept up my love affair with this series. I engaged with the characters and the plot from the first page, and I had trouble sleeping until the end of the book. I love D. K. Hood's portrayal of her characters and the way they interact with each other throughout this book. Follow Me Home is well-written and researched by D. K. Hood. I like D. K. Hood's description of the settings of Follow Me Home, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

Follow Me Home readers will learn about horses' role in law investment investigation. Also, the readers will learn about the fear of clowns called Coulrophobia.

I recommend this book.

As I keep moving through this series by D.K. Hood, I remain excited. The author has me gripped with this police procedural series set in small-town USA, where a sheriff and her deputies tackle intense and highly complex cases. When the body of a man appears in a house up for sale, Sheriff Jenna Alton and her second-in-command, Deputy Dave Kane, find that poisoning is the likely culprit. There is more to the story, as the man appears to have been involved with a nefarious group. When another man with close ties to the first is killed, a connection between them begins to emerge, as well as the fact that a vigilante killer is out there trying to right wrongs. With Alton and Kane on on their trail, the roadblocks continue, as they both begin to ponder whether the crimes committed by the now victims deserve the sort of retribution that is taking place. Justice must prevail, but at what cost? Hood keeps things moving with this third novel in the series.

Amos Price is found in his own blood, dead from numerous injuries. The crime scene is a house for sale and there are no other clues as to who might have committed the crime, though his odd tinge of blue leaves Sheriff Jenna Alton to suspect poisoning and then being bludgeoned to death.

As the investigation begins, Sheriff Alton and her lead deputy, Dave Kane, discover some disturbing information about Amos. He has been tied to the disappearance of a number of girls over the last few years, in and around Black Rock Falls, Montana. Before long, another body emerges, that of Ely Dorsey. It would seem that both men are tied to these kidnapping and substantial evidence comes to light about a pedophile ring who abducted and assaulted many young women and girls over the years.

Sifting through the ever-mounting pile of evidence, Alton and Kane realise that the killings are motivated by these past crimes, but that the vigilante nature of the murders means the killer or killers are still at large. In a small community, this worries Sheriff Alton and she puts all her efforts into finding the answers before more bodies end up at her feet.

When Kane begins to receive messages from the killer, it’s a new form of concern. Is this a taunting with hopes of being caught, or could there be a larger trap involved? As Sheriff Alton begins to zero in on the truth, she is tossed for a loop. Where does the truth lie and how will it all be revealed? Hood keeps the reader hooked with this chilling thriller.

D.K. Hood proves unique in the genre worth her strong stories and writing style that is sure to capture the reader’s imagination. Using a strong narrative and quick development techniques, Hood provides the reader with something tangible and yet masterful in the same breath. The flow of the story is clear, with just enough to keep the reader wondering as they move from chapter to chapter.

Character development continues to be a cornerstone in this piece. The development of both Jenna Alton and Dave Kane proves decent, with some of their backstories emerging for all to see. Yet, there is still much about them that remains shrouded in mystery. Add to that, their personal connections growing with each case, there is sure to be some co-mingling before long, which could add another layer to the already great story arcs.

A plot that appears simple, but blossoms as the story progresses, keeps the reader on their toes throughout the experience. This piece has two parallel crime developments, which keeps the reader wondering as all is revealed. I can only hope that Hood is able to keep up this momentum, which has worked well to date and shows a great control of the story, its characters, and the themes she wishes to present. I am eager to see how things will keep progressing, as twists and cliffhangers leave the reader wondering what is to come.

Kudos, Madam Hood, for never letting the momentum wane.

Another great mystery-police procedural by author D. K. Hood. It took me some time to start liking the story as the initial chapters described how the paedophiles lured, kidnapped, and abused 13/14 year old children for years and killed them. That turned my stomach upside down.

Once the team of detectives from the Black Rock Falls Sheriff's department Jenna and Kane make their appearance along with ME Wolfe and Rowley, the story flows like a murder mystery, albeit the murders of these abusers by a Vigilante killer.

I was supporting the Vigilante more in this book!!

A good hard hitting story by author D. K. Hood, the story, flow, pace, characters are great. The police procedural works well with autopsy findings and forensics.

But I couldn't really get into the story as the topic was gruesome, and I was told about the abusers' part of the story too, their plans, their kidnappings, holding children in cages... Eeeeuuu I could just cry here😢😭

The investigation and the characters captured by attention, the Vigilante made me root for her, hence the 4 star rating!!

Detective Jenna Alton is an ex-undercover DEA Agent, living in witness protection program working with Detective Kane in the small town of Black Rock Falls to keep it safe.In this book Jenna and her team are called to investigate a brutal killing of a man, who they find is linked to a pedophile ring .When another body is found with a clear connection to the first dead it becomes obvious that they have a vigilante killer on their hands. Will Jenna and and her team be on time to prevent the next murder or does the end in this case justify the means ?

Follow Me Home is the third book in Detective Alton and Kane police procedural series and can be read as a stand- alone. The subject matter is a little tough to read but the I did enjoy the twists and turns and the suspect was a complete surprise to me.

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Wow what an amazing book.  This book gripped me from the start with a dramatic and harrowing scene, which causes the reader to be thrown straight into the action.  It’s an incredibly fast paced book which helped keep me company during a sleepless night with a baby with bad reflux.  Though my baby was asleep for ages before I noticed as I was so engrossed in the story.

The police team and Detective Kane have a very close relationship which was great to read about.  They are a great team who clearly support and respect each other which was a refreshing change from the ultra competitive relationships you normally read about.

The book brought up an interesting dilemma for me as it was the first crime book I’ve read where I couldn’t feel sorry for the victim and actually felt they deserved what they got.  The victims are all very bad men who’ve done some awful stuff which as a mother made my skin crawl.  I actually found myself cheering for the murder as I felt they got what they deserved!

Follow Me Home is the third book in the series but can easily be read as a standalone as anything you need to know is mentioned in the book.

Huge thanks to Bookouture and Noelle for my copy of this book and for inviting me onto the blog tour. If you like fast paced, gripping thrillers you’ll love this book.

I love being back in Black Falls County. My trips to Montana are different every time, it does not get boring. The weather changes, the team changes and the crimes just keep on changing.

“…Since his arrival in Black Rock Falls, the seemingly harmless little town had revealed a bottomless pit of secrets..”

Who is “she”?? She’s a woman on a mission to remove the monsters from Montana. She’s a vigilante extraordinaire and does not want the police getting in her way. this character really intrigued me, the way she entrapped her prey like a spider with flies and then how she kept her eye on Deputy Kane.

This read is very tense in places. D.K. Hood has managed to expertly pack the book with intrigue and red herrings to make this a cracking page turner of a crime thriller.

I had allsorts of theories whizzing through my head as I read, they were possibly ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous but this book kept me on my toes. I’m not going to tell you any of my theories just in case I give you any ideas who our vigilante is! But put it like this, I did not see that coming!!

This third book in the Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane series focuses on the search for a vigilante who is killing men suspected of child kidnapping and rape. Set in Black Rock Falls and the surrounding wilderness, the investigation takes Jenna and her entire team on a fast-paced effort to discover the identity of the killer and also figure out the names of all the men possibly involved in the pedophile ring who might need to be protected from the revenge murders. They come to the conclusion rather rapidly that the vigilante is a woman -- but there were many previous victims of this child molestation pack and most of the girls have never been found. Can they stop the killer before she strikes again -- and though Jenna feels sick about the damaged and killed children, she does not believe in this type of vengeance.

Alton and Kane are partners and neighbors who may or may not realize that they are probably romantically interested in each other though they disguise it with talk of "friendship." Both have previous lives doing other law enforcement type of work and ended up, somehow, together in this backwater country town under different names. They're very tough, emotionally and physically, and despite the fact that Jenna is the boss and Kane her deputy, they operate more or less on equal footing. It does, however, seem that Jenna requires a lot of rescuing and backup -- when she has sense enough to ask for it! The characters have been developing and becoming more fully fleshed out as the series continues from one book into the next but the reader doesn't get much glimpse into their personal lives because it seems they are always working or rushing off to another crime scene! I actually like Kane a lot more than I do Alton, mostly because it seems she's trying too hard to be the boss, control the situations, and overcompensate.

I enjoy the pace of the writing, the detail of the setting, and the cases that Alton and Kane tackle. I'm looking forward to #4 and suggest that anyone new to Alton and Kane read the books from the beginning, in order.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-book ARC to read and review.

This is Book #3 of the Kane & Alton series.  It can be read as a standalone book, but for continuity it would make sense to read them in order!  For information, this book is based in the USA.

I’ve read the other 2 books in this series and loved them, so was keen to read this one.  Sheriff Jenna Alton is back with her trusty sidekicks, Deputies Dave Kane and Shane Wolfe, to solve the case of the death of recluse, Amos Price, whose body was found in an empty house which was up for sale.  When Jenna and her team begin to look into the victim’s history, they find a link between him and the disappearance of several young girls going back many years.  When another body is found a few days later, Jenna discovers more links to a paedophile gang and the killer may have been a victim of this gang serving their own form of justice.  Jenna and her team find themselves in a race against time to find the remaining members of the gang before the killer does.

Welcome back Sheriff Alton!  I love the characters in these books and love the relationships between them all, particularly between Alton and Kane.  As in the other books, Kane is back in his unofficial capacity of Jenna’s personal bodyguard, but there may also be a hint of a different kind of relationship between them for future books (and to be honest, who could blame her!  Dave Kane sounds the perfect man!)

As in the previous books, the story jumps straight into the action right from the beginning and the suspense does stop until the very end.  I have never had a ‘boring’ bit in any of these books – I read and devour every single word!  I love the way the killer is kept secret until near enough the very end.  I didn’t guess who it was at all, and probably accused everyone by the time of the reveal!   The story is very cleverly written in that it gives you so many different possibilities and it keeps you thinking the whole way through!

A word of warning though, the story does feature child abuse and paedophiles, but there are no graphic scenes and it is very sensitively written.  I personally think that this series is getting stronger with every book and would highly recommend this book and, of course, the rest of the series.  A fabulous book by an author who is rapidly leapfrogging her way up my list of ‘Best Authors of the Year’!

I just loved this book. Third in the Kane and Alton series. Read the first two before diving into this one.

Men start being murdered we know from the start these men are pedophiles. One or more of their victims has come back on a killing spree she's angry and rightfully so. Kane and Alton have very different opinions on finding the killer!

I love the way Hood writes she is a genius I have to say.
What makes this one of the uniquest crime fiction books I've read in a while is that I was routjng for the killer why wouldn't I who wants a world full of pedophiles I definately don't!

I enjoyed reading the moral dilemmas that the defectives find themselves in as much as they want to stop murders but like me most don't care to much about the victims themselves kane especially seems to be on a roller coaster of morality

I found with this book we learn less about Kane and Alton compared to the first two books. There is always the underlying love story story but that doesn't overtake the story. I did miss the obvious love story that's there but theys at least ten more books for me to read so I'll be patient.

All in all this is a great series I love having a strong confident woman as the lead of a crime fiction. Alton is likable character and I always find myself wanting to know more about her, everything from her past and I cannot wait for the book where her past catches up to her, in a morbid sense!!

Kane makes me laugh in this book he gains not only a dog but two horses aswell. He is one of my favorite fictional characters although the fact the dog is a great search dog was random but j got on board because if anyone can train a dog in a day is Kane haha.

This book was a hard read as a survivor I found some of the talk of rape distressing but honestly it is also super empowering. We also get to read the POV of the killer and I found that really helped me connect to the story on a deeper level. I found myself so engrossed i gave up trying to work out who the vigilante was (although I guessed it correctly to the first time) I was more interested in the investigation and book itself

I happily rate this 5 🌟 and highly recommend this series to any other crime lovers. If you enjoy lisa regan or wendy dranfield you will enjoy

I really like this series, I love Sherrif Jenna Alton and her relationship with Deputy Kane. They’re great characters to read about and I love the chemistry between them.

Being set in a small town works really well too, but it does mean that a lot has to happen to keep the series interesting and the reader engaged. I can go with that though as I love the setting, the remoteness adds to the story and there are so many places for baddies to hide.

This is the third book in the series, I think that they could be read as a standalone but it would be better to start at the beginning as you’ll get so much more out of the story if you know what happened before.

Once again Hood takes the reader on a journey, the clock is ticking and Alton and her team need to find a killer before more people meet a gruesome end. I was hooked straight in and enjoyed trying to work out the whodunnit. I do think that this is the weakest of the series so far, but given how good the previous books have been I wouldn’t let that put you off. I’m now waiting eagerly for book four.

All books can be found on my blog at https://thewritinggarnet.wordpress.com

This series featuring detectives, Kane and Alton, has got to be one of my most favourite crime/thriller series to date. I thought the first book was a cracking read, but nothing could have prepared me for the immense storyline of ‘Follow Me Home’. As far as I am concerned, this book is the creme de la creme. The cherry on the top. The piece de resistance. I think you catch my drift, but for those who haven’t – THIS IS F’AWESOME!!!

Jenna Alton is faced with her most complex case yet. With a murderer on the loose and several girls disappearing, Alton and Kane have to work out which case they try to solve first. It soon becomes clear that one case cannot be solved without the other, when a second body is found. Do they have a serial killer on their hands? Is the culprit of the two murder victims behind the disappearance of the young girls? Or is this murderer working on its own terms? So many questions, so little answers, yet the clock is ticking…

Looking at the cases that Alton and Kane had to get to the bottom of, I couldn’t even begin to work out where on Earth they started. How do you find out the reason behind a murder when the victim can no longer talk and the murderer covers their tracks? I mean seriously, where do you start. It was obvious that the murderer didn’t want to be found, and without the murderer’s identity coming to light, the detectives have nothing that will tell them whether the killer randomly chose that person, or whether they actually had a genuine reason to end their life. Of course, their genuine reason could be unworthy of a killing in the eyes of the law, but that isn’t exactly going to stop people now, is it?

From the very first page, the intensity of ‘Follow Me Home’ was a good 60/100, surpassing the 100 mark by at least another 100 by the time I had come to the end of the book. Where ‘Follow Me Home’ was concerned, there was no spare moment in the storyline to twiddle your thumbs, breathe, or even scratch an itch – the pace was that fast, and that urgent, it really was like reading a book about a high speed car chase. The thrill of the investigation mixed with the intensity of the storyline was just phenomenal, I honestly couldn’t have asked for more in a book, that’s for sure.

It was great to see Wolfe come into his own in this instalment, seeing as we were only introduced to him briefly in the previous book. Kane, as always, was a breath of fresh air. I love the camaraderie between him and Alton. You can tell their friendship is genuine, yet you can tell that Kane is aware of the line he mustn’t cross when it comes to his superior. He may ignore it sometimes, but he is aware of it which certainly counts for something!

I think I have made it perfectly clear that I loved ‘Follow Me Home’! D.K.Hood has written yet another addictive read, upping the ante where this book is concerned, that’s for sure. I was absolutely hooked on every little detail my eyes came across, making ‘Follow Me Home’ one of my most favourite books of 2018. I won’t lie by saying that the novel wasn’t graphic, because it was, yet I truly believe that the novel wouldn’t have worked as well as it did, had it not have been so graphic. It needed that hard hitting, straight to the point vivid imagery, as it brought the severity of the cases to the forefront of the storyline.

A cracking novel which packs more than one punch – I cannot recommend this book, and this series enough. You will not be disappointed!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Follow Me Home, the third novel to feature Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy David Kane of the Black Rock Falls, Montana Sherriff's Department.

When the body of Amos Price is found in an empty house Alton and Kane initially think natural causes but further investigation suggests he has some unsavoury habits and it might be murder. When Eli Dorsey's body is found a couple of days later and he has the same habits Alton and Kane suspect they may be looking for a vigilante.

I enjoyed Follow Me Home which has a dark subject matter but enough twists and turns to keep the reader engrossed. The killer is not identified by name but the motive is made abundantly clear to the reader from page one and while I guessed the identity from the start it did not spoil my enjoyment of the novel as much of that derives from watching the team trying to keep up and working out both a viable suspect and potential victims. The motive is emotive and sure to provoke discussion as does most vigilantism.

As I said there are plenty of twists and turns in the novel, most of them unpleasant and upsetting, so the reader is never sure of what will be coming next. Ms Hood has a vivid imagination and does not shy away from the darker side of human nature so this novel is not for the faint hearted. Those of a stronger constitution will find it gripping as the team battles a clever and troubled killer. There are a couple of jarring notes in the killer's thought processes about David Kane but I can't expand on that rather cryptic comment without spoilers. It's just obvious enough to comment on.

Alton and Kane grow closer as the series progresses and are now a very effective team. The hint of possible romance still hovers but no more than that, as does the mystery of why three (including new addition Deputy Woolfe) highly trained former federal law enforcement officers have been relocated and hidden away in rural Montana. Obviously it makes them effective investigators in the crime wave that arrived in town about the same time as they did but if there is more to it no hints are offered in this novel.

Follow Me Home is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

This is the third book in the best selling series featuring Detectives Alton and Kane. I finished reading it yesterday and it is only now that I feel I can write the review. I absolutely, totally and utterly flipping well LOVED this book but more about that in a bit.
Detectives Alton and Kane are one fantastic partnership. Whilst they don’t live together as such they do live on the same plot of land but in separate houses. Both are really comfortable in the other’s presence and they spend a lot of time together both in and out of work. Alton likes having the extra security of knowing that she has somebody near her home that can come and help her if she needs it. After events in a previous book, Alton is hypersensitive to the potential dangers out there. I did wonder if the pair of them were going to get together romantically but I think that for the time being they are best off as friends. Both Alton and Kane have suffered in the past and I think that their shared experiences have helped contribute to their strong friendships. Both are loyal, strong, stubborn, feisty and determined who would drop everything to help the other one out. Alton and Kane get on really well with the wider members of the team too. I just loved the way that they all worked well as part of a team and each brings their own particular skill set to the table but equally they can all work well on their own and using their own initiative. I just wished I was part of the team too.
I have to say that I was hooked on ‘Follow Me Home’ from the moment I picked my Kindle up. The author’s writing style is such that you can’t fail to be drawn into the story from the first word on the first page. This book certainly hit the ground running and opened with a somewhat disturbing scene which will stay with me and will stay fresh in my mind for a long time to come. ‘Follow Me Home’ maintained the pace throughout the book. This is one of those stories that really does grab you by the throat and keeps your attention until the last word on the last page. Reading ‘Follow Me Home’ was much like being on a rather scary, frightening and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns and moments which you are not expecting and when they happen, you feel as though you have been punched in the gut and had the stuffing knocked out of you. The characters are so realistically written that I could easily imagine them as being ‘real’. The more I read, the more I got into the story, the more I cared about certain characters, the more I hated certain characters and the more I wanted to jump into the pages of this book to sort certain people out.
It’s true that the subject matter in this book will not be for everyone and some people might find it disturbing. Although I found certain bits uncomfortable to read at times I wasn’t put off reading the rest of the book. My background is in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and it is essential that such subjects are discussed to increase awareness and educate people to spot the signs of abuse. Now I am going to be slightly controversial and say that I couldn’t see anything wrong with certain people being killed off, as certain victims were hardly a loss to society. In fact if I could have, I would have probably leapt into the book to give the murderer a hand, only I would have been far more brutal with the aid of a pair of rusty and blunt scissors. Sorry about that but this is one subject I feel strongly about. Don’t worry people I am not a homicidal maniac about to embark on a killing spree.
In conclusion, I have to say that for me, ‘Follow Me Home’ is the best book of the series so far. The series featuring Detectives Alton and Kane just gets better and better. I can’t wait to read what D. K. Hood comes up with next. Here’s hoping that we don’t have too long to wait. I would definitely recommend this author and this series to anybody and everybody. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved 5* out of 5*.

You know them, those books that drag you in from the very first page. Well, this is one that can be put on that list as well. Until the last chapter the author succeeded in keeping the killer a secret and I kept racking my brain, but I would never have guessed who it was.
Although killing somebody is never to be accepted, but in this case I have to admit I felt sympathy.
I only have one remark. To me sheriff Alton was rather harsh and impolite sometimes towards her collegues. I can't compare her to how she was in the other books because I did not read them, but maybe it had something to do with the kind of crimes that were being comitted and that she was so eager to solve everything that she acted this way.
Overall a very gripping story that kept my attention for the full 100%.
Thank you D.K. Hood, Bookouture and Netgalley.

Excellent 3rd book in this series. I can't get enough of Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputies. Duke is a great addition to the team. In this book the body of a man is found brutally murdered, then a second body is found. While searching for the killer they rescue two girls being held captive. This story (as all in this series has) kept my interest from the beginning to the end. I was not expecting the ending. Waiting for Book 4. Thank you NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.

This is a huge five star rating for a fantastic book.
Kane and Alton are back with the rest of the team and soon have a murder investigation on their hands.
The book starts off from a young girl’s perspective describing her surroundings which turn out to be a cage where she has been kept and abused by a group of men. It’s quite difficult to read but what happens next sets the scene for the whole book.
Shortly after the first body is found, another man is found murdered and Jenna and Kane soon realise the victims are known paedophiles in the area.
This book kept me gripped throughout and I loved it.
I can’t wait for the next one to see what challenges Kane and Alton will face next.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Sheriffs Jenna Alton and Dave Kane are at first on the case of a dead body found in a secluded house. They quickly discover that this brutal murder is the first of its kind when another body is found. It becomes apparent that a vigilante killer is on the loose. There has been a rash of missing girls over the past several years and they wonder if one of the earlier victims has turned into said vigilante.

The synopsis of Follow Me Home in no way alluded me to the fact that the subject matter would be so utterly dark and chilling. It was quite painful to read at times as I did not at all relish being in the minds, even if just for a second, of the sick, perverted pedophiles that are being picked off one by one. Nonetheless, this read is compelling as this sick group of men needs to be stopped, as does the killer. It remains truly gripping and the twists and turns were just enough to upset me more than once. This is book three in the series but read rather well as a standalone to me. I most certainly will follow future books by this author.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review.

Oh my goodness, this was a thrilling read - this series just gets better and better!!

Jenna Alton and David Kane are a formidable team, working in the tiny town of Black Rock Falls, where men are men and young girls are apparently disappearing at a great rate of knots. There are some degenerates living in this town and it is up to Jenna and David to stop them from indulging in their sick fantasies. Unfortunately, there is a vigilante who seems to be one step ahead of them. Can they catch this person before even more murders are committed and more young girls' lives are irrevocably changed? Very tough subject, but the author does a good job of her characterisations.

Gone are the somewhat awkward physical descriptions of the main characters' bodies which were liberally sprinkled in the first two books - we still get a very good sense of what they are all about anyway. I like that Jenna and David (and the rest of the team), work together so well and there isn't a simmering sexual tension or something under the surface, that is rather refreshing.

I give this book 4.5 stars; looking forward to reading the next one!

Follow me home by DK hood.
Sheriff Jenna Alton and deputy David kane are back. The body of
Amos Price is found in a cabin in a pool of blood. With no clues as to how he got in Jenna is at a loss.
The team start to unravel his life. They discover they discover a disturbing link between Amos and the disappearance of several young girls in the county going back years.
Then days later another body is found. Ely Dorsey is found brutally murdered in a motel. Jenna believes that the murders are connected to the Missing girls. She feels that the murderer
hasn’t finished yet.
As Jenna tries to work out who will be next, the killer suddenly starts sending her deputy, David Kane, messages. Is she being taunted? Or does the murderer want to be caught? And will Jenna discover who’s behind these killings before more people die?
This was another fantastic read with great characters. I knew who the killer was but not the name. I was surprised when the killer was revealed. Cant wait for next book. 5*.

Follow Me Home, a nice new shiny book. D.K. Hood has certainly done us proud with the third instalment in the series surrounding Detective Jenna Alton and Dave Kane, its my pleasure to award 5 massive stars, a phenomenal read which will certainly having me coming back for more.

When’s the next D.K…………..not that I’m rushing you or anything!

Opening the first pages, the haunting scenario which envelops the full plotline is a stark reminder of a society that we live in, a tough subject to read but a key element to Follow Me Home, D.K. Hood has not overly dramatized this but has written it as tastefully as possible.

Alton and Kane are called upon to investigate the brutal murder of a man, Amos Price, no signs of forced entry and the house is desolate of furniture, why was Amos there, who wanted him dead. Loads of questions but devoid of answers another body is found.

Alton has her work cut out for her trying to link the pieces together before another person is killed. Searching the past life of Amos, it comes as a revelation that Amos was involved in the case surrounding some missing girls several years earlier. What’s the connection between him and the other murder victim, can Alton prevent any more deaths and bring the killer to justice.

Meanwhile Kane has started to receive messages from the killer are they taunting them or is it just Alton they want to get a rise out of, do they want caught or is there another piece to the puzzle, are they being tested. Does the killer want justice or just to kill..

So many questions D.K., you had me burling around and around, my brain is like a spinning top, the push, the pull, the intensity so insane but a real good insane, Follow Me Home fulfilled all my thirst for a great criminal thriller.

All my thanks to Bookouture, D.K. Hood and Noelle Holten for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of Follow Me Home, all the opinions about this book are my own. Hope you all reach out and grab a copy, the Alton and Kane series is phenomenal, don’t just take my word for it, look at the other bloggers reviews and you’ll see what I mean.

REVIEW OF AUDIOBOOK; 6 JULY 2002
Narrator: Patricia Rodríguez

First, thank God the narrator was a different one from the previous book! Ms Rodriguez had an American accent, unlike Julia Vita who was obviously British trying to sound American. Second, I liked the pacing of this crime drama though I couldn't have cared less if all the perverts got killed. Too low a body count, IMO. And I don't agree that what the vigilante did in the end was to spare the victims a trial. There was a clearcut confession with all the details that would have ended in a conviction without needing a trial.

And while I like Kane & Alton's working relationship, I wish he'd stop hovering over her like a motherhen. It's obvious he's sweet on her but Alton is far from being a fragile female.

While I will likely listen to the next installment, I'm not in a hurry because despite the fast pace, the whole book trotted along without giving me any suspenseful moments. Adrenalin-charged this book is not.

Great addition to a great series. I loved the first two books in this series and number three does not disappoint. Kane & Alton are back doing what they do best and as usual the bad guys take the trouble to their door!. I never guessed who the culprit was! Nice character development in the subplot and introduction of new characters too to the team. While this would work fine as a standalone having the backstory of the characters from the series so far makes it even more enjoyable . Already looking forward to #4
