Discover the creatures of the wizarding world in stunning 3D scenes.
Revisit the magic of Harry Potter through four intricate, multilayer dioramas that capture beloved moments from the films. From Harry's pulse-pounding battle with the Hungarian Horntail dragon to his encounter with Thestrals in the Forbidden Forest, each pop-up is laser die-cut for precision and gorgeously detailed. Every scene is followed by essential information about the creatures and fun, behind-the-scenes facts from the films. Designed to thrill both seasoned Harry Potter fans and younger children, this volume is a treasured keepsake for the whole family.
This book is beautiful. Definitely collectible, a must-have for Potterheads. Though the creatures descriptions and pictures are of course richer in illustrated Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the paper cuttings in this book makes it special.
I gave the book five stars because it did something I haven't seen before in pop-ups, creating scenes from layered laser-cut pages that open up into thin boxes. Architecturally it resembles what is known as a "peep-show book," though those usually accordion out. The layers are solid colored cardstock. There are a total of four scenes. There are also five or ten pages of normal illustrations. If I had more options for this kind of book I would probably be more picky, but as it is I felt this was a necessary addition to my collection. I got it new for $10 including shipping, which is pretty good as the cover price is $30.
Gorgeously detailed papercraft landscapes that made it fun and visually immersive. It was interesting to read about how the creatures were brought to life for the films. My mom got this for me for Christmas and it's beautiful and a short read, however, I found it just slightly misleading. The title is just stated as "Creatures" so I was expecting to learn about a wider variety of creatures in the wizarding world aside from just the ones introduced in the films. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed this style of book!
The pictures are stunning, and actually even worthy of destroying the book and trying to 3D frame them. (I know, I know..but these pictures deserve to be displayed!) As for the reading part..not much we didn't know about. Honestly, you're buying this for the artwork, there's no new stories, no new blurbs, and if you're a die hard fan and read the movie magic books then you know about the behind the scenes stuff as well.
Fantastically articulated and detailed paper cut scenes from the beloved Harry Potter world. I wish there were more to swoon over! The writing and imagery throughout was a little bland, but overall, the scenes are the real show stopper here.
Beautiful! Wish there were more pages 💕 Really wish more of the dark creatures besides the dementors were in that diorama instead of the empty quidditch field
This is an absolutely gorgeous, paper scene book. Although I wish there were more pages, I am super happy I got this, and love leafing through it, looking at the super intricate scenes!
