Princess Adelina is prepared to leave for Hai. She has her wedding to the Prince of Thieves and then they will seek out the dragons. Forces are moving to the border, but the Neprijat are three steps ahead of them.
Adelina must convince the Drakesthai to ally or her people will be slaughtered. Can she persuade them to help fight in the war despite their two hundred cycles of silence?
*This is a slow burn, steamy polyamorous space fantasy romance. There is some female/female bisexual romance.
this is a diamond in the rough the harem is really coming along now.
Adalina really comes along and works on her abilities to
If you like sci fi, RH, dominate strong women friendships and a MC who develops and evolves over the series, well thought out intricate world building with mixed races that allows for animal like traits - wolf, big cats, dragons... etc.
this book only improves on the story, ok im off to read the next ! yay!
This was my favourite yet! I can't believe this series doesn't have more reviews, as it is truly awesome.
The world building is excellent and has such vast potential. I absolutely adored the Drakesthei, who were a great addition to the difference races of people.
There is so much that is unique about this series. I love the historic genetic engineering that has given the different races traces of the animals. Sort of like shifters, yet not.
And the female characters! So many bad ass women in this series! Adelina just grows with each book and it's so satisfying to see her development.
Lots of development on the harem front in this one as well and things finally seem to be falling into place.
If you love complex world building, a range of strong female characters, sci fi and RH then I urge you to read this book!
OMG I am totally in awe after reading this book. The series has been great but Lina is really incredible by this point. She blows my mind left and right as this story goes on. Dean has really outdone herself this time! That twist towards the end made me squeal in excitement. Totally loved every page so it gets 5/5 stars.
My ratings on these books have steadily gone up, with good reason.
We're not getting so many random character POVs, which I like, because that's a lazy writing cluth. Even the one with Alpha was totally okay because of the genuine perspective we got.
The haremn is coming along sooo nicely. Varan is so swoon-worthy. Kaiden is going to be the kind of softy who only softies for his girl and makes you drool, I can just tell. And Nash... well Nash will figure it out.
I also stand by my prior reviews of Raena, I do not give her grace. Yes, she was realtively young in their world but she was not a child and had spent 30+ years learning and preparing. Yes, she was being manipulated but I'm sorry I don't even like my sibling and I still couldn't be so easily convinced of the things Raena was. She was weak minded. And none of those yeses excuses her actions towards her sister. The whole Alpha telling her Raena took him to bed to spite her (and you know it was), using her title and rank to take away Lina's right to choose who she marries because she's jealous the guy wants her little sister and not her, used her power over him as queen to spy on and maipulate Lina, wanted to watch her fail. I take it back, the bath tub is exactly the right way to write her off. I can't help but wonder why it is Giselle decided to snoop through Ian's stuff when she found the results of Lina's DNA.. Raena wanted Lina's wolf to come out during the games, so people would question her authenticity because that was not the Princess Adelina they knew. It would not surprise me if Raena sent Giselle that way, hoping for help taking Lina down. If so... ew.
Noooooo! What do you mean book five isn’t out yet? Whyyyyyyyyyy! I love how this story has brought so many people in together as Adeline’s own special pack! The way Nash reacted after everything Adeline has gone through and accomplished despite everyone literally forcing her down really put him on my bad list. I sense he may be coming around but I don’t think he deserves us! I love our new additions and all the shocking revelations given in this book. I sense more greatness coming for our queen. Adeline has expressed in the past sympathy for any innocents even on the enemy side. I feel like that was brought back into play after the most recent event, and it’s really put our heroine in a thoughtful place. Who are these enemies really? What is their story? And how is Adeline going to save her people and them as well? I don’t know because now I have to wait MONTHS to find out. /cry.
All the answers from the questions were answered in the book - which is the longest book in the series.
Varan becomes a wonderful first husband - Nash and Adelina is reunited with tensions high.
Lots of events happened at nice and steady rate - with no drag. A few surprises, a couple funny moments (Kaiden giving Adelina the info post council), a lot of touching moments - and a surprise ending.
Worth the read. Worth the cost of the book. I can't wait for the next installment of the series. Things are picking up and Adelina is becoming the woman everyone needs. Can't wait for her harem to become "officially" complete.
Another great book from Emma Dean. This series had me hooked from the start. I am already waiting for the next. Read about an incredible fantasyworld, follow Adelina journey to the Drakesthai. This is suspense and action at its finest, a must read, you won't regret reading it. I received an advanced reader copy as a gift and I am voluntarily submitting this review.
It's so hard to write reviews on these books as I don't want to spoil them... So many plot twists, we FINALLY get some answers for the mysterious way King Orion contracted the illness as well as what happened with Raena... Also, Adeline explores her new self even more. She is blossoming into this strong, fierce beauty.
The intrigue and political maneuvering are exactly what I have been looking for. It is nice to have books I am interested in reading again and I am excited to get to complete the series. Last time I read this series this book had just come out. I am so glad I decided to give it a reread.
Another great book in this series, the characters are growing with you. It’s a breath of fresh air to read a RH where the h isn’t all a stubborn brute who needs to be saved by her males. Adelina, leans on the people in her life and lets them help her and guide her. Another book I couldn’t put down. I’m officially obsessed with Emma Dean. Her books are amazing.
Their is so much thought but into each of the characters and the beautiful unique world that the other has created. I love how strong Adelina has become and how strong all of her relationships are now. If you like Sci Fi and RH genres I would highly recommend this book series !
AMAZING!!! I didn’t know how this was going to turn out but hello wonderful! I love these characters so much and I love seeing them grow individually and in their relationship! I cannot wait for the next book!
I'm working on writing my review now. It will be posted here sometime after it goes live on my blog, like all my other reviews. I will say that things got intense in this story and I definitely look forward to seeing where the series goes from here.
Holy crap I did not see that coming! Ok, multiple times I didn’t see something coming but wow, that ending! I love where this is headed and I’m both incredibly excited and incredibly sad to move on to the final book.
Great continuation to the series! The mc is continuing to grow as a character. Her significant others are unique, endearing and lovable. I highly recommend this story.
This is a continuous story and this is the fourth book. I have sunk farther into the solar system and galaxies and different species and dominance. I can't put these books down until I am done!
I've never read a series in less than a weeks time & bonded with all the characters this one made me cry like if it was happening to me Emma Dean out did herself can not wait for the next installment
I’ve just read a review for this book that stated they didn’t understand why there weren’t more reviews for this series, and I can’t agree more. This series is vastly underrated because it absolutely brilliant. Though it is a RH book, it is a very slow building one and each addition takes a long time. Plus, the people surrounding Adelina are not all part of her harem, some are just friends and advisors, which I like. Sometimes RH gets a bit romance orientated. Have a longer series like this one allows the characters and their motivations to breathe a little. This feels more like a Sci-Fi series than a pure romance novel. Set in space in the future with wars between systems and advanced technology seems to meet the definition.
After Raena, authorises the marriage of Adelina and Varan, they decide to have their wedding before they leave for the Hai System. Having the wedding quickly is meant to give the public confidence that life goes on with the Royal family at the helm, no matter what.
With the invasion causing more and more deaths, the need to get to Hai, in order to find new allies, is even greater and all of Adelina’s diplomacy and language lessons have never been more necessary. Having the love and support of Varan, who becomes closer to her every day, and Nadyah and the tolerance of Roxy, enables the planning to go smoothly, despite the tight deadlines.
Becoming the Heir, is something that pushes Adelina further into her dominance. She isn’t afraid of her inner wolf anymore, even if other people are.
There is a lot of heart break in this book, interwoven with the usual incredible plot development, world building and character depth. There is so much going on in this book, as there is in every book in the series, that you never really see what is coming next. I’m constantly being blindsided with plot twists. I LOVE it when that happens.
You really should read this series because it’s excellent!
I'm still loving this series more with each book. Adelina and Varan are so perfect together. Those two make me smile like crazy. I still love her with Nadyah, too, but it's looking more and more like Ian will be the one for Nadyah. I love the addition of Kaiden and Roxy is awesome, too. I was really worried about the reunion with Nash. It could have gone better, but it worked out well, too. There are some major shockers and revelations in this book and a moment so sad I cried. I can't wait for the next book.
I saw at the beginning of this book that there will be spin-offs being released soon. Not sure how I feel about that, yet. I'll likely read them because Emma Dean has impressed the hell out of me with this series.
Holy crapola batman! So much just went down in this book! So.F*cking.Good. This was seriously the most intense book of the series so far and I can not wait to read what happens next!!! Emma Dean I love you and your brilliant imagination!
