8/20/22 Hey friends! Riden’s chapter is coming out IN PRINT for the first time in the US next year. Because of this, I’ve been asked to take it down from my website. More details to come on how you can get it in print!

Hi all! I wanted to let you know that I have just made Riden's Chapter available as a free download on my website for anyone who would like it. Since those who preordered have had the chapter exclusively for several months, the marketing team and I decided it would be all right to open it up to anyone who missed out. To redeem the chapter, go to tricialevenseller.com and click on the Books tab.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This made me wish we could have both books from Ridens POV as well, because I have a feeling some of the revelations would be priceless.

description

Still love Raiden.
Still love Alosa.

We get to see some of that brotherly love between Riden and Draxen.

I have to fight a smile after he finishes.
I saw him practicing the words in the mirror earlier today, but I’d never admit it tohim.
I’ll let him keep his pride.

And we get to read Ridens first impression of Alosa.

I don’t see how too much trouble could arise from having one girl aboard our ship, but I am prepared to step in, nonetheless.

13 pages is not enough, Tricia!

This was not at all what I thought it would be. I thought we would get some insight into Riden’s thoughts and feelings about Alosa, but this chapter completely focused on his dedication to his brother.

Fair enough, it’s literally the first time him and Alosa meet, so there’s actually something rather good to be said about the fact that it was not an insta-love situation for Riden, but still… I would have preferred it then if the author had chosen a different chapter to write from Riden’s POV, one later on in the story, so we could have understood his love for Alosa better.

That said, I do think this chapter gave us some needed understanding for how Riden views his brother and why he kept defending such a vile creature in the first book. It looks like he truly thinks Draxen is a good person underneath, and the monster is all an act (or something that can be pushed back), but I doubt Riden will be able to lie to himself about this much longer… I guess we’ll see in the sequel.

Riden’s Chapter by Tricia Levenseller is a short but swoony companion piece that mirrors the opening of Daughter of the Pirate King—only this time, we see it all unfold through Riden’s eyes. It’s a little peek behind the curtain, offering just enough charm, tension, and mischief to make your heart flutter all over again.

❀ Overall:
I didn’t know how badly I needed Riden’s POV… until I had it. And now? I’m obsessed. Tricia chose the perfect moment to give us that glimpse into his thoughts—it added so much depth, tenderness, and quiet intensity. I honestly need more. Like, immediately. 🖤⚓

This chapter in Riden's POV can be found here.

This is the beginning of Daughter of the Pirate King in Riden's POV. We can see what's going on in his head as they take the Gull, subdue the crew, and meet Alosa for the very first time. I found Riden to be quite bland honestly. There does not seem to be much depth to him and his thought are pretty straightforward and simple.

I was cleaning out my computer of old files when I stumbled upon this and remembered I never got around to reading it.

Honestly, these 12 pages make me wish that both books had been told from dual PoV. Because I've always liked Riden and I wish we'd gotten to read more about him.

“Alosa Kalligan is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. She’s almost otherworldly, she’s so striking.”

“Alosa is a means to an end. Nothing more. She may have gotten under Draxen’s skin, but I will not let her do the same to me.”

How am I always so unaware of bonus chapters🙃?

Loved seeing this scene from Riden's POV! Alosa is a fiery pirate and seeing Riden's perspective on their first meeting was exactly what I expected. Hoping for more Riden POVs😍

I don’t know why I decided to read this. It’s not like it’d stop my need to reread the series again. If anything, that impulse has just grown stronger with a different POV.

This was super great for understanding Riden's devotion to his brother, Draxen. There are some interesting tidbits showing that so many of his actions are motivated by keeping his brother at bay. He is terrified of his brother's anger and doesn't want Draxen to become their father.

Unfortunately, I feel that this chapter lacked a certain distinctive "voice" like Alosa's that would give me more of an insight into his brain. I'm still having a hard time figuring him out or growing to love him like I do Alosa.

But, I really appreciated the depth given to him and Draxen's dynamic - that would be the main reason I would recommend reading this chapter from Riden's POV.
