HELPFUL Packed with plenty of tips, tricks, and tools of the trade.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the recipes, which are well-written, easy to follow, and (thus far) tasty.
⭐️ for all the unsourced medical advice, which is pretty irresponsible. I’m as pro-marijuana as they come (obviously, as I’m reviewing an edibles cookbook), but as a medical professional, a lot of the claims about THC and CBD ameliorating medical concerns in this book and elsewhere are seriously overblown and should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
I specifically take issue with encouraging those who have psychotic symptoms to use cannabis. Study after study has shown that it is not only a precipitating factor for initial psychotic breaks in those prone to schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, it can also worsen these symptoms over time with continued use in that population. Those with bipolar disorder can sometimes have these reactions, as well, to a lesser degree. Promoting cannabis use to this population is irresponsible, period.
If you’re looking to treat a health condition with THC or CBD, it’s really important to discuss it with your doctor first in order to ensure there aren’t any interactions with your current treatment plan.
This book is an amazing resource for anyone looking to learn about cooking with cannabis. The recipe guides are easy to follow and walk you through making your own cannabutter, as well as olive oil, coconut oil, maple syrup, and honey. There is a great variety of edibles, including vegan and gluten-free options for those of us that use cannabis medically and have food allergies. This book has become a staple in my kitchen and I can't wait to continue trying the recipes!
Edibles does a wonderful job explaining the technical side of Cannabis cookery. This book does a great job helping you determine you dosing, which can be tricky at times. I also love that they not only cover “canna butter” but also “canna coconut oil”, “canna honey”, and “canna maple syrup”. Edibles takes a scientific and delicious approach to MMJ and deserves a read.
Of all the cannabis cookbooks I have read, this one seems the best. The recipes are meant to be low dose and most are small bites, which seems most convenient to me (compared to the full entrees in other books).
After watching a cannabis cook show on Netflix-I had become intrigued with the idea of learning to cook with it. I’m a Pro-cannabis health professional as you say ever since my time of taking care of cancer patients. I watched their nausea, appetite, mood etc improve with just the medicinal synthetic marijuana. This book is not only yummy to look thru-but very educational. The ladies (one was actually in the cooking show I watched) are very knowledgeable of this field and make it easy to read and learn about cannabis cooking. Have it on your shelf for the great recipes that I know you can cook with/without cannabis at and a conversation piece.
This is the whitest book I’ve ever laid eyes on. Call me lazy I don’t care, no real fucking stoner is gonna make most of these recipes. It’s one thing to have to buy cannabis & special ingredients for a recipe in the first place, but I don’t even have half of the tools that are essential to make them. It’s not accessible whatsoever. There’s a handful of recipes in here I’m definitely going to try & come back with a consensus on, but some of them just look unappetising as fuck. Trust me I say that as someone who is high right now.
The intro and the methods for the various infusions were great and are the truly valuable part of this book.
I would recommend this book to the people you know are talented in the kitchen and interested in dabbling in edibles, these are not beginner recipes (i.e. Macarons and marshmallows).
That being said I look forward to trying out some of the more basic recipes, and love the idea of infused honey and maple syrup.
She has some great entrees and appetizers like the mac n cheese bites, which came out great. For me it was hard to figure out which strains would work, so it was particularly helpful for that. Found this book here - https://everythingfor420.com/blogs/ev.... Anyone who liked this one would definitely like Cooking with Herb.
I really enjoyed the photography in this book and the intro was very well written. I really want to make the honey comb and yogurt recipe and the marshmallows would be a delight to eat.
Hard to rate a recipe book if you have not yet tried the recipes, but I do look forward to trying some now that pot is legal where I live. Some sound delicious regardless of the canna component.
Great book with great and easy recipes. You can't go wrong here, that's one of the best books you can buy if you are getting started on cannabis cooking and/or eating.
