Hello there!

My name is Jessica, and I am a twenty four year old self published author.

At the moment, I am working on my twelfth novel, which I hope to finish and publish by the end of the year. I am very passionate about literature, creative writing and reading books.
In my spare time, I love to be outdoors, going for walks, visiting new places, reading, writing and playing with my two gorgeous cats, Dolly and Pippin. I also enjoy reviewing Korean dramas on my YouTube channel.

I never thought I was going to be a writer. It didn't even cross my mind that writing books was something I was ever going to do. When I was sixteen years old, I was studying Performing Arts in college, preparing for a future in acting. It took me two years to realize that acting wasn't something I wanted to do. At the beginning of the course, my heart was set on becoming an actor, but by the third year, I completely lost interest in it. Acting didn't bring a smile to my face anymore. I think at that point, I started asking myself what it is that I enjoyed doing, and I couldn't think of anything other than reading books.

I believe that everyone can write a story, whether it's a short story or a four hundred page story. The things that our minds come up with is just unbelievable. You are going to have people who either love your book or hate it, but don't let things like that discourage you, because, in the end, you can say that you've written a book. By yourself.

Okay, now that I ordered “Chasing the Beta” I’m finally emotionally stable enough to write a proper review. ;-P Well, at least I hope I so. XD

When I first read about “Chasing the Omega” I just couldn’t resist pressing the “to-be read” button. I mean a book about werewolves and shape shifters that howl at the full moon? A mysterious gang and a hot Alpha? Damn! Count me in! *lol*

”As I walk home in the dark, the rain no longer pouring, I look up into the night sky and notice the full moon.”

So yeah, I wanted to read this book and I’m happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed. Jessica’s book definitely was a page turner and I swear if I’d have had more time I might have even read it in one sitting. =) It’s kind of funny because many of the things in this book were nothing new. I think I dare say that it actually used many of the typical young adult clichés but in my opinion this only made it so much more appealing. XD I was hooked right from the beginning and I think if there wouldn’t have been so many spelling mistakes I might have enjoyed the whole reading experience even more.

Jessica, if you ever need an editor for “Chasing the Alpha” I’m your girl! *LOOL* I’d love to help you out! Really! I swear! ;-P

Joking aside, I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read “Chasing the Beta”! =) First I have to write this review though! So, here I go!

The plot:
Alice is eighteen, still goes to school and has a job at a diner. One night when she’s about to dispose of the diners garbage, a big wolf gets in her way, attacks her and even bites her in her shoulder. Of course Alice is too shocked to do anything about it and since the wolf vanished and she doesn’t feel all too bad, all she does is to decide that she needs to get some sleep. The next morning everything changes though and Alice suddenly finds herself in more trouble than she would have ever been able to anticipate! ;-) So far, so good, right?

The characters:

Do I still have to warn you that I’m going to spoil you in this section?! If yes: MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT!!! If you continue to read, it’s at your own risk! ;-P

Alice:

”This shit with Max ends right now because when the next month is here we’re gonna have another dead body – that’s what we should be focusing on.”

That girl is definitely something special. I mean she’s confident and shy at the same time and she definitely has a well-developed moral compass! XD It’s kind of funny how easily she accepts what has happened to her and even though she doesn’t want to become a monster she still seems to go with the flow. *lol* To say she was kind of contradictory wouldn’t even get close to the truth and I really can’t wait to see how she’s going to deal with every bitter lemon life has decided to throw at her. Will she make lemonade or is she going to break under the pressure? =)

Ryder:

”He cups my cheek and whispers in my ear. ‘You really shouldn’t threaten an Alpha.’

I love myself some hot Alpha and Ryder definitely is everything you could wish for. He’s protective, fiercely loyal and he cares for his pack. So yes, he’s basically the perfect Alpha and I instantly loved him for it. I didn’t understand his relationship with Silver though and considering the fact that he seems to care for his pack so deeply, I couldn’t help but wonder why he treats her like shit. I mean it’s obvious that she loves him, but all he does is to tell her that she was just a means to an end and that he never truly loved her. That hurt and it definitely didn’t gain him any kudos! Yes, I understand that he seems to have fallen for Alice, but Jeez! A little bit more tact certainly wouldn’t have hurt him! So yeah, I’m kind of torn whether I should like him or not. I hope the next book will be able to provide me with a better insight into his mind and that I’ll get a better understanding of what’s driving him.

”Maybe that’s because I care about her more than I ever cared for you.”
Silver looks as though she’s been slapped. “What did you just say?”

Max:

”I may not be good enough to pass as being a cool or tough guy, but at least I have the decency to treat others with respect. Fair enough if you don’t like me because truth be told I’m not utterly fond of you either, so the next time you threaten me or anyone I care about Silver, you won’t like the outcome. That I assure you.”

Puh, Max is a huge question mark! I mean at first he seemed to be a nice guy and I was all like: Yay, a second hot boy!!! But the longer I read the more I didn’t understand him. I mean why is he healing so fast and why doesn’t he defend himself? He could have told Alice the truth, yet he still refused to say anything that would have made her understand. Why?! I don’t get it and I really hope that I’ll get some answers in the second book! Alice definitely isn’t the only one that’s confused and I really, really, really want to like Max!!! *lol*

”No, I like the fact that you care about me, it’s nice to know that somebody does at least.”

”Alice, I’ve only been here a week and people are already calling me a liar. I’ve been beaten up twice for telling the truth and yet people still accuse me of being a liar. So I apologise if I appear to be a little pissed off about that.”

Why Max!? Why are you healing so fast? Answer that goddamn question and tell us the truth about your mom and no one is going to call you a liar anymore!!! XD

Sam:

”You know what? I’m very good. I’ve been completely mind blown from seeing the size of a man’s penis today.”

Oh boy! I loved that girl so much! Haha She was so honest and funny and I really wanted her to be a bigger part of the book! Since Bane obviously isn’t interested in her I think she should go for Kellan instead! That boy was soo cute and sweet and I really want them to become a couple!! Maybe “Chasing the Beta” will do the trick? XD I certainly hope so!!! They would make a cute couple for sure!!!

”Kellan lost a part of himself after losing Anna…”

If I’m entirely honest I have to admit that the ending was kind of confusing though! I mean why the hell is Alice so angry all of a sudden? Is it the alpha slumbering within her that causes her to be like that? I really don’t know! Ryder made it pretty clear that he wants to be with her, but after Sam was attacked she was all like “Bitch-mode” and told him that she doesn’t want him to be in the hospital because he actually never cared about her or Sam!? Well, at least not until she was bitten and became a wolf. So yeah, I kind of understand her train of thought, in my opinion it was more than just illogical that it happened this way though. After all Alice obviously decided to be with Ryder even though she knew he never liked her before, so yeah, I guess you get what I’m talking about.

Kellan indicates to me, “This is Alice, she’s …”
“My girlfriend,” Ryder finishes for Kellan. They both exchange glances.

The other thing that confused me was Mr. Edmund’s revelation. I mean I grasped the meaning of it but I still had to read it two times to finally be able to understand it all! *lol* The entire story of two men that fell for the same woman was damn confusing and I think I’ll have to read it a third time to comprehend it fully! XD

I can’t help but wonder if Max is the son Mr. Edmund has been talking about and if yes this is probably the reason why he heals so fast? Well, it’s just a theory but I guess I’ll find out in the next book! Right, Jessica?! *LOL*

And the ending?! That was sooo mean!!! I wasn’t prepared for a cliffhanger like that and after reading the final page I was like: NUUUUUU!!! There has to be more!! Where is the teaser of the next book!!! Gosh damn it, Jessica!!! T_T

Oh well, I’m over it… NOT!!! XD

”I lean over her with trembling lips, kiss her gently on her cheek and rock her lightly in my arms, while the tears continue to fall.

That scene broke my heart!!! T_T
Jessica Edwards, how could you do this??? How could you end your book like that?!

All told I really liked “Chasing the Omega” and I can’t wait to read the second volume! =)))
Jessica if you ever think about writing a book about faeries please let me know!!! I’m such a sucker for faeries and I love every story that features them! I’d definitely give you all my money if you’d write such a book!! Haha

For now I’m going to stick with your Omegas, Betas and Alphas though! *LOL* ;-P

Alice is an ordinary young girl with a major problem. Being bitten by a wolf is bad enough, but when she starts to turn into a werewolf her life becomes a little more complicated than she would like. My favourite character in the book was Alice's friend Sam, as she was someone who spoke her mind regardless of who she was talking to or where she happened to be.
Being an older reader I would have preferred a story with more focus on the horror elements & less on the characters relationships. However, Chasing The Omega is a remarkable achievement when you consider that the author is a 19 year old student. I think she may have a bright future ahead of her.

I'm not sure what to really say. The premise is good and the execution is ok. I liked Alice, she was strong but sometimes acted to strong. I liked that it didn't bother her that Ryker was with Silver - hell she caught them in the actual act! I also liked that it DID bother Ryder that she caught him with Silver (he wouldn't have been bothered if it were anyone else BUT the fact it was her is what bothered him....I can read between the lines enough to know that she's gonna be his mate). However, I DON'T LIKE SEX SCENES OF THE H/h WITH OTHER PEOPLE SO REGARDLESS IF IT BOTHER THE h OR NOT I DIDN'T CARE FOR IT. Plus, Silver is part of Ryder's pack so she's always going to be there. It was also nice to see Ryder put Silver in her place...however, I didn't like that he used her for just sex (he said so himself) and then completely blew her off and acted like she was nothing. It was cruel.
Finally...it was too quick for Alice and Ryder to have sex. She caught him having sex with Silver only a few days prior, had stated that she wanted sex to mean something and that's why she waited, hated Ryder for 85% of the book, but all of sudden - after someone she knows is killed - she's all "I want to be with you..." I didn't buy it.

Chasing the Omega by Jessica Edwards

Alice is a new turned wolf and she hates it. She is coming to terms with her change and how that effects her life. She has to think about Her new relationship with Ryder the alpha of the pack, her friendship with Max and her hatred with Silver. This book is a fabulous paranormal thriller written beautifully.

CHARACTERS-
I loved Alice, she was just so great a character and I loved reading from her point of view.

ROMANCE-
I shipped Ryder and Alice so much, like OTP. I Also shipped Max and Alice and I think that there is an explanation for his lies and his secrecy. I think this could turn into a love triangle which would be awesome.

PLOT-
I loved the plot of this book! It was super cool and intriguing. I loved the include of fandoms like GOT and Gossip Girl which was cool.

ENDING-
All I can say is I need the next book NOW!

Characters-9/10
Romance-9/10

Huge thanks to Jessica Edwards for sending me the whole series ❤️
It’s been a while since I read a book focused on werewolves. I remember when I first started reading YA books the years were divided by category, there was the year of only vampires, the year of only angels, the year of only wolves… and that’s the main reason that I gave up with my reading habit. I wasn’t yet reading in English and it was so hard to find books with different topics.

After all the time passed I finally found again the curiosity to read about specific themes and wolves is one of them, and when Jessica asked who wanted to read her series my hands were up in the air.

Story time’s over, let’s get to the book.
The story is pretty simple and very easy to follow and sometimes it’s just what you need. I really needed something exciting but at the same time “easy”.
The characters are very likable and even if sometimes their interactions were maybe a little too forced I found all of them very focused and well built.
The story develops in a nice way, we get the step-by-step feeling, so nothing is confusing, on the contrary is very well explained.

The twists were very good, some of them got me completely unprepared and it’s so cool when that happens.
I found the writing style pretty good too, it was very fluid making the book a very fast read. In some parts I found it maybe a little repetitive but maybe I’m confusing it as a “style/structure flaw” not a writing style issue.

Being a first book this was VERY good, I liked it a lot, I found the story exciting and very interesting and in its simplicity, unique.
This made me want to continue with the series and made me enjoy once again wolves' stories that in the past “helped” me take a step back with books.
So, thank you Jessica 😉

Wow, what a great start to the series! This was definitely a quick but fun read.

I loved Alice, she is what I like to read in a book, independent and fierce and not wanting men to look out for her. I liked how she approached every situation and every decision

Ryder is an awesome character, even when he would argue with Alice, you could tell from the start he cared for her before it become obvious. I loved their relationship and I hope it continues to grow in the next book

Bane, Silver and Kellan are also amazing characters even Silver who annoyed me most of the time with her obsession with Ryder but it was an awesome addition to the story. I wonder what she will do about Ryder' s honesty and I know it will be intense!
Bane was annoying but I also liked him, he's tough but I think there is a gentleness inside of him and I hope we get to see it more, let's hope Sam gets it out of him!
Kellan is sweet, kind and considerate, I really liked how Jess used a male character to have these characteristics instead of the typical female. Well done Jess!

I really liked this plot, it was intense, full of action and drama. But what I really loved was the change and the shifting, Jess knows how to write it successfully. it was like I was feeling it too.

we are left with such a huge cliffhanger at the end, can't wait to see Alice's revenge

Received a copy from the author herself, in exchange for an honest review, thank you!

Werewolves of London, well close anyway. High school shapeshifter's, mutilated bodies, sex, mystery; a lot going on in this first novel by Jessica Edwards. But all in all, it was quite entertaining. Good characters, some likeable, some not so much. I get the feeling her books will only get better as she goes forward. Anyone who enjoyed the Twilight books should like this. Look forward to seeing more from this young writer.

Wow. I am pleasantly surprised that I loved this. Considering that I am not a big fan of shape shifters, that is. For a debut novel, Jessica Edwards has done a great job.

In Chasing The Omega we see Alice, who is bitten by a werewolf - turn into, and trying to cope with - her new life as a werewolf. She gets to know of the mysterious gang of four at school, who have a reputation for being weirdoes. Ryder, Bane, Kellan and Silver take sudden interest in her, and Alice finds herself intrigued by them. On the other hand, there is a murderous wolf in town who has already claimed lives. When Alice sees that her dearest ones are attacked, she sets out to find the killer herself.

- The book started off right along the path of action, and it was enough to keep me hooked.

- In the beginning, as we are introduced to the characters, there is a lot of descriptions about each of them which was very difficult to follow, and which – shamelessly – I forgot everything about.

- Like, why bother explaining a page on what each of them is wearing every single time?!

- But the writing improved gradually as the story progressed, and I found myself enjoying every bit.

- The romance seemed a bit rushed and I didn’t see much development there. It was confusing but interesting too.

- I’m also glad that it wasn’t the main focus of the story.

- The narration was done really well, but I didn’t actually connect with the characters emotionally.

- Some of the parts were a bit disconnected. And the characters went from being mature to being childish in the split of a second.

- But overall feel of the story was absolutely, POSITIVE.

- And btw, I’ve started reading the next book.

- Because, hell, the ending was compelling enough!

I love the story and I was able to get into it right away. Alice and Sam quickly accepted the existence of shapeshifters, but in my opinion it was kind of nice to get past all that, show them some evidence and get the story started. There are open-minded ppl out there who wouldn't bat an eye-lash, ya know.
I didn't realize it, but I sat down to read a few pages and read the whole thing. The author kindly sent me a PDF, for which I am grateful. I'm invested in these characters now and glad to know Jess. She's a wonderful person who cares about her work and about everyone's opinion; good or bad. I might have been reading a draft, I'm not sure, but all I saw were just some editing issues.
I hope she continues to write. I will continue to read and be a fan.
(Oh and I really think if a person is going to leave a low star review they should at least put why. Just putting that out there. )

Update:
I loved some of the wolf rules she made in here. They were great. Especially with the eyes. I think that one was my favorite.

Thank you, God, I downloaded the second book!!!!
Alice is a normal high school girl living a normal life. Until one night she takes the trash out while closing the diner where she works.
She is bitten by a huge mangy wolf and her world changes drastically. Dangers are lurking everywhere and deciding who to trust keeps changing.
Every time she thinks she's gotten a grip her world tumbles around her. Can't wait to see what happens next. This story keeps surprising me!!
P. S. I love her name! Alice. It brings a sweet young girl to mind. So when her world twists through a looking glass, and the cards come tumbling down, I feel like I want to protect her.
Wonderful story!! Exciting and thrilling!!

Looks like it's finally time to say how I feel about this book.
So the plot was good. I'd say you simply read the synopsis and nothing more before getting into the book.
**Spoiler Alert**
Don't read and blame me for ruining your experience. I was pulled in from the beginning with the wolf and the bite and I didn't think that the wolf actually did all that on purpose. I thought he would've done it to anyone who would've been out there instead of Alice at that moment.
Initially I beloved Kellen to be the centre of Alice's attention since she liked his behaviour and Ryder seemed to be with Silver. Ryder! He s just awesome.. He cared for her all along and remained loyal and never fled. Max seemed suspicious but then I thought that Edward was also new and nobody seemed to be doubting him so he seemed to be the one owing to the one that no one did point towards him, And who is the criminal usually? the one you didn't expect to be.. I didn't like Silver but I did pitied her especially because of the way Ryder confronted her. He really was rude at times. Sam has been my favourite packet of entertainment all along. She is fun. Max was cool and I wished he trusted Alive sooner than later (Book 2). Bane is like he has his lips sewn together. I really felt so bad for Alice when her mom died. And Sam but I did doubt that Edward hurt her mom considering that her mom was already dead when she got home and it seemed unlikely for Edward to have reached before Alice. Overall, it was pretty good. The tension remains throughout as to the murderer in town and the deaths of those close to Alice. When the change happened for the second time: when she decided to let it happen and when Ryder comes to the rescue; that was my favourite scene, all of it till he leaves..

Thankyou Jessica for the Pdfs :)

UPDATE: I think this was a really good start to the series, I'm kinda sad I read them out of order since I know now how the second one ends and it took some of the guess work out of it for me *shrugs* but overall it was good! A few typos throughout but didn't distract from the story. Awesome job Jessica! I look forward to reading the third when it comes out!

oh my god, that hilarious moment when Jessica was nice enough to send me PDF copies of the two books and I read the second one first *face palm* I was so confused hahahaha

Will start the first book tonight! (the second was still good even though I was entirely confused)

Excellent

Why do author's do that? Get you all excited, then bam, the book ends. She had me glued. I couldn't put the book down. Then nothing except for the annoying words ' to be continued '.

The story is sort of a whodunit, mystery. Set in the paranormal genre. Wolves being the topic. It isn't fast paced but continues to build at a good, easy to follow speed. Then it just takes off in the final few chapters.

I wanted to give 5 stars but the editing made it difficult to read at times. So a good solid 4 stars. Also, I'm in desperate need for book 2. If you want something different. A nice relaxed storyline and very likable characters then give this a go. Enjoy!

Ladies and gents, hands down to Jessica Edwards.
I mean I'm no big fan of fantasy, I know the idea is not completely new, but this was certainly a page turner.
The story is about a teenage girl, Alice, who has been turned into a werewolf, and she's obviously not that used to the idea, since the day she was bitten which led to all the transformations, everything changed in her life.
Coming to talk about changes, let's give a shoutout to RYDEEEEEER
And no, I don't think I was a big fan of Max, but I'll see about it in the next part of the series maybe.
A very well done work that you did Jessica , good luck with the rest!

This book was such a quick and fun read. I found myself giddy with anticipation to find out what happens. That brutal ending though! So sad, but I'm excited to see Alice's revenge.
I really liked Ryder and can't wait to see how their relationship develops further.
I LOVED the best friend, Sam! I always love it when the best friend is an important character, much like with her mum.

Definitely will be reading the next book to see what happens! Thanks Jessica for sending me Chasing The Omega! 💗

Alice is a normal 18 year-old girl who goes to school and works an after school job at a Diner near the forest. She has her best friend Sam (whom I like the most, she’s hilarious😆). Her life changes one night on a full moon as she quickly finds herself thrown into the supernatural world. I thought Alice had a little bit of everyone in her. She is shy, but confident. She follows her morals clear through the story and she seems to accept whatever is thrown at her and tries to make the best of it. I thought she was a great lead and has something that everyone can relate to.

For a first book, I couldn’t have done it better myself. However, it was lacking in depth, and got a bit too simple & slow at times. But that ending just blew my mind. 💣 A real cliffhanger!
I absolutely enjoyed this book a lot, definitely worth the time and I can’t wait to start reading the next one! 🐺

This book brought me back to my obsession with vampires/werewolves. Although no vampires in this, I thoroughly enjoyed the werewolves ❤️

Plot:
One day after work, 18 year old Alice is beaten by a wolf and around the same time, she notices that she’s starting to gain the attention of a group of students at her school especially the leader “Ryder”. She also realizes that her senses have become stronger. Ryder then reveals to her that she was not beaten by just any wolf but a werewolf and that she is becoming one herself. He also confesses that his crew is actually a pack with him being the Alpha. Meanwhile, there are brutal murders happening in Small Town(which is the name of town) with the culprit suspected to be a werewolf. Now Alice finds herself in a supernatural world where everything is not as it seems.

The characters:
Alice: The main character. The book is in her POV. I kinda found her annoying because she never listens! She was so stubborn but I kind of get it because I don’t like people telling me what to do too lol

Sam: Alice’s best friend. Sam is a free-spirited person with no filter. She does what she wants and doesn’t care about what people think.

Ryder: The Alpha of the pack. He is protective to those he cares about even if they don’t want his protection (but need it) *cough* Alice *cough*

Kellan: He’s a beta in Ryder’s pack and the sweetest character in the book. He’s just so nice and lovely. He was my favourite character

Silver: She’s also a beta in the pack. She’s in love with Ryder which makes her hate Alice when Ryder starts paying more attention to her

Bane: The last beta of the pack. He’s more on the quiet side although he always has a sneer on his face and looks like he hates everyone lol.

What I liked
- This book was fast-paced. I was interested in the storyline from the beginning to the end
- I really shipped Alice and Ryder and loved all their scenes together
- I liked the dynamic between the characters. I enjoyed their interactions which ranged from funny to crude

What I did not like
- There were some grammatically errors
- I felt like the reactions to some things were not authentic. For instance when Sam first sees the werewolves and their shapeshifting, there was no reaction from her except that they were naked lol. I expected her to be scared

The murderer was easy to guess but i liked knowing the reason for their actions. Also, the ending indicated that there might be more to the story which I’m excited to find out about.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to read the sequel ❤️

Book: Chasing the Omega
Author: Jessica Edwards
Rating: 4 Out of 5 Stars

I would like to thank Jessica Edwards for providing me with this free copy!

Wow! What an amazing book! It has been awhile since I’ve read a good werewolf story. Chasing the Omega has it all. We have amazing characters, a little bit of romance, murder, and great story telling. I found myself pulled right into the world of Small Town. Once I was in, it was hard to get out.

I have wanted to read this book for awhile, but was afraid to buy it. So, whenever, Jessica reached out on Goodreads with free copies, I found myself requesting. I was not disappointed. I have heard all of the wonderful things about this book and the readers are right. Chasing the Omega is a page turner. I found myself forcing myself to put it to the side so I could get some work done. While the book itself is nothing new, there was just something about this that I liked.

Alice is a normal eighteen year old girl who goes to school and works an after school job. She has a best friend and is not popular. Her life changes one night as she walks home on a full moon. She quickly finds herself thrown into the supernatural world. I thought Alice had a little bit of everyone in her. She is shy, but confident. She follows her morals clear through the story and tries not to become a monster-even if one is in her. She seems to accept whenever is thrown at her and tries to make the best of it. I thought she was a great lead and has something that everyone can relate to.

Ryder is the Alpha of the pack and our lead male. At first, I really didn’t like his character, but as time went on, he kind of grew on me. After awhile, I could see that he was loyal and protective and would do anything for those he cared about. However, I do not like the way he treated Alice. One minute he was kind and the next her was a jerk. We will have to see just how he does as the series progresses.

Max...Hum...I’ll get back to you on that one. I just haven’t really figured him out.

Sam, Alice’s best friend, is the human of the gang and I love her. I love her character and how she adds a sense of what normal life is like to the story. She’s sweet and really caring. Just a great character!

Now, we do have a cliffhanger ending. There are no answers in this story. So if, you don’t like cliffhangers, then this book probably isn’t for you. However, if you are looking for a great werewolf story, then give Chasing the Omega a try!

I should say after 3 months busy schedule, I began to have a time to read :)) and with this I tried to read some book but I couldn't go on when I'm tired (I don't blame the book it has interesting scope, I felt too tired to read but this wouldn't happen usually). After I give up trying to finish the book. Luckily I had time to read. I was sure I need some easy read, a fast-paced book and I wanted to read this one for a while. I was happy to begin reading this story finally :)))

The story began with Alice working in her part-time job and on the same day she was bitten by a wolf. After that, her life began to change (I won't mention about other characters because I feel like I can't escape giving spoiler if I try to do that). I find myself in the world I don't know but with Alice find out what she is in I began to learn about it too. I liked to know her world as she learns more about it (and with some action :))). I can't say I love Alice but I did want her to happy so this is enough for me and I loved her best friend Sam. It was fast paced easy read make me enjoy. If I didn't have the second book I would be upset with how this book end but in the end I have that and I will begin to read today so I don't have any bitter feeling about it. :)))

Thanks, Jessica Edwards for providing me a free copy of this e-book in exchange for honest review. :)

I'm not fond of books with werewolves but this one, I liked it very much. I enjoyed reading Chasing The Omega. I loved that the flow of the story wasn't so slow. It amazes me that the author is just 19 and she can write a book this good. Kudos to you, Jessica Edwards.

description

I loved the characters, especially Alice because I love strong female characters. I also love how she describes how Alice looks - definitely beautiful. Ryder and Alice was perfect together. I loved their hate-love relationship. Jessica E. also succeeded to make me hate Silver, but I kinda feel sorry for her at the end. Sam and Bane, please, please, let them fall in love with each other. Let them be together. Pretty please? LOL

That cliffhanger though, BUMMER.

*special thanks to the author for the free pdf copy*

Thank you to the author, Jessica Edwards for sending me your trilogy in exchange for an honest review.

In Chasing the Omega, everything changes for Alice when she gets bit one night. Alice is a strong-willed and stubborn character who I wasn't fond of, but will continue reading the trilogy. The book was fast paced and an easy read. Maybe I am getting too old for books taking place in high school, but a lot of the banter between characters annoyed me. The plot is slightly predictable, but it was the perfect read for my long car rides over Christmas vacation. I believe that with an editor and more feedback, Edwards has great potential. It must be so hard to write a book, let alone 3 at a young age and put yourself out there. I'm excited to see how the final story ends!

actual rating: 3.5

thank you to Jessica who is the author of this book for sending me a PDF copy of her book so i could be able to read it for free.

Plot: I haven't read many books with werewolves in it so i don't have much of an opinion of these type books but i enjoyed this one. Alice is the main character in this story and she is a normal teenage girl working and going to school but soon she is put into this world that she never knew existed and her life is turned upside down. The beginning of the book was a little all over the place but by the middle it really picked up and i got really into the story by the end of the book, The author's first book was good, i can't say anything because i've never written a book myself but i can see the author has a lot of potential and i think she will do well.

The ending of the book had me hooked and surprised because i was honestly not expecting that ending at all.

Characters:

Alice: The main character in this story and a very good main character, she is learning and adapting to the new world that she has been thrown into unexpectedly. The thing i enjoyed about Alice is that she was a little sassy but was also unaware of what things this world had to offer. Alice is shy but also confident, one thing that surprised me is that she accepted what happened to her as you don't see many main characters accept what has happened to them, they usually complain about it and it was refreshing. Now the second book is where her real test will begin and will Alice be able to live up the the challenge she's been given or will she crumble i cannot wait to read the second book.

Ryder: The Alpha male and leader of the group of wolves in this small town, hes charming and snarky but i do love how protective and loyal he is with his pack and the people around him. I was confused with his relationship between Sliver and himself because i'm not sure wether or not he likes her or doesn't because he keeps his cards close to himself and i wonder if this relationship will come out more in the second book. I do like the relationship that has simmered between Alice and himself and i would like to see what they go through in the next book. Ryder to me seems like the bad boy type but he is so much more than that he's protective and fiercely loyal which you don't see with many bad boy type characters.

Max: Max seems like the nice guy to me with something to hide, i'm very wary of him all throughout the book because he heals himself pretty quickly but never seems to defend himself at all so what is this dude hiding? or is he just way to nice to his friends that he does it out of loyalty.

Then when he didn't tell Alice the truth made me even more mad because he could have easily told her everything but chose not to. I'm currently on the fence about Max and maybe he might redeem himself in the second book.

Sam: Sam was one of my stand out characters in this book she was funny and was a fangirl that i loved reading because she had no hesitation in talking about her favourite tv shows. Sam is honest and funny and she seems like she can handle her own which i love is a strong female character that the world needs more of.

I wonder what will happen to Sam now since Alice is a werewolf maybe Sam will get some magical powers? so she can help oh that would be an awesome sight to see Sam with magical powers

Silver: Alright Silver annoyed me and for obvious reasons because she seems a little to obsessed with Ryder and doesn't get that Ryder doesn't like her or maybe he does because it's very confusing. I hope this character does a huge change because she annoyed me to much and i don't like to hate on characters but Silver annoyed me.

Bane: Bane annoying but i did like the character he was nice and had that softness side to him even though he has that tough exterior that i makes me slightly like the character because he has a soft side to him. I can't wait to see Sam and Bane's relationship go somewhere and i think she will be a good influence on Bane.

Kellan: Kane was the nice and caring guy out of the whole pack and i liked how Jessica used a male character who was nice and didn't have to try act tough in front of everyone, he was just simply a nice lad. I want to see more of this character in the rest of this series because is one of my favourite characters.

This book was a good start to the series however it was a little all over the place but once it hit the middle it really picked up and i really started to enjoy the book. Good effort Jess! i cannot wait to read the rest of the series

Disclaimer: I feel THE WORST because I received the file back in the beginning of September, and Didn't start actually reading it until like a week ago...

Characters:
🍃There was very little character development. What you see is what you get, usually this aspect of writing kind of takes away from the story but in this one, that doesn't happen.

🍃I fully ship Alder/Rylice (weird ship names) but Alice and Ryder.

Overall Opinion/Notes

🍃I thought I was going to hate it, the beginning had EXTREME Twilight Saga vibes. The characters were introduced at school *ahem* the whole wolf-fam *ahem* the first few chapters concepts are quiiiiite similar.

🍃There's a sentence structure issue, and few grammar mistakes. But nothing major, here are the prominent ones I found.

💢 "Take any leftover food to take home with me"
💢 On page 19, it says "Mom" but throughout the rest of the book it says "Mum".
💢 There are a lot of time where in one paragraph it says "Terry" every start of a sentence, instead of including pronouns to start, as well. It sounded repeated and bugged me a bit.

🍃IT MENTIONS WUTHERING HEIGHTS legit screamed a bit inside when I saw that.

🍃Sam acted so oddly normal when she found out about that thing *wink wink* She legitimately believed Alice and didn't think she was joking at all. This kind of threw me through a loop. It took a bit of the reality aspect away from the novel.

🍃I kind of questioned whether it was that person but the ending still shocked me, even though I kind of saw it coming.

🍃I cried twice... so uhm yeah. moving on..

🍃As soon as it ended I couldn't sleep *it was 11pm* and I wanted the second one immediately.

🍃I thought it was going to be the death of me and I was going to regret reading it but no, No, NO. I actually almost love it. It was a really good novel.

*GOES TO GET SECOND ONE*

Chasing the Omega is the first book in a continuous series which is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Alice is an ordinary girl who works in a diner. At the end of her shift one night everything changes. She gets bitten by a wolf. She finds out the truth of urban legends- shifters exist and she has caught the disease. The question is who was the wolf and why did they choose her?

There is a murderer on the loose and people around town are dying. Another mystery to solve. Unfortunately for Alice one of her good teachers was one of the victims and his replacement isn't as friendly.

Alice needs to learn about the wolves and find her new place in the world. Ryder is the leader of the local pack and Alice is about to bump heads with him.

Alice's has a sassy relationship with her best friend making this book funny in places.

Like I said at the beginning of this review this is just the start. An interesting read, but doesn't contain all the answers.

4 stars out of 5. Kindle Unlimited read.
