I received the set of three Fury books for my birthday one year. I had never owned any hardcover books before and I was a horse nut, so these were perfect. I still have them on my bookshelf at home and they are three of my most cherished possessions.

I'm rating this four stars because, to me, it's very near and dear to the heart. However, I recognize that the writing style isn't exactly the best. It all depends on opinion of course, and I'm just not sure that I would love it as much as I do if I'd read it at another time or when different people were in my life. It doesn't offer much depth, but it was a great comfort read and (as it *is* a kids' book :) ) I would recommend it for kids. It's very nice when I want to feel less burdens from life and forget how pressing real issues are :)

Jim Newton and his foreman, Pete, spy a jet-black stallion leading a herd of wild horses and determine to tame him. They catch him - but taming him is something else entirely. Meanwhile, orphan Joey Clark is determined to meet Fury, and he sneaks out to Jim's ranch. He develops a bond with Fury - and with Jim, who adopts him. That's just the start of their adventures.

The book is adapted from a bunch of the TV episodes from the Fifties, and Miller does a splendid job of it, too. Some of his writing is very moving, and he clearly knows his horses. An excellent adaptation, and I've already tracked down the rest of the series!

i found this book in a second-hand store when my family was visiting me – my mother apparently read this growing up so of course i had to buy it. this book was exactly what you expect it to be: entertaining, easy to read, and tropey in the best possible way. thanks ma

One of my childhood favorites and I still have the same book. Joey is out with his uncle on the ranch when he sees a black stallion on the hill and believes he is the best-looking horse he's ever seen. Good adventure for Jr. High age kids who love horses

Predictably unpredictable

This book has heart, cons, fights, depth, and the most magnificent stallion that only a boy can tame. Beautifully & simply told, this is a book for all ages.
