This book gives guidance and strategies on how to change our ways of communication and develop the art of communicating to anyone and actually get on with them. The book groups different personalities and explains how best to interact with each group. Some useful tools in here, whether at home, work or just socially. I found it really interesting and I’m certainly trying different tips to see if it’s working.
Many thanks to team @literallyPR for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
Adapting ur speaking style to others can help u communicate with them, but won't u be loosing yourself at this moment? If you not connecting normally with a person then it doesn't ment to be 😕
Catherine Stothart’s "How to Get On with Anyone" is a refreshing and insightful guide that transforms the way we approach our interactions, be it in a professional setting or at home. Stothart expertly breaks down the principles of effective communication, offering practical tools to enhance rapport, reduce conflict, and foster collaboration.
What I love most about this book is its accessibility; Stothart doesn’t just offer theories, but actionable strategies that anyone can incorporate into their daily routines. From adapting your communication style to suit different personalities to mastering the nuances of virtual interactions, her advice is both relevant and easy to implement.
Reading this book feels like having a wise mentor at your side, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and build more meaningful relationships. If you’re looking to boost your confidence as a communicator and create positive outcomes in your interactions, "How to Get On with Anyone" is a must-read. It’s not just a book; it’s a stepping stone to a more fulfilling personal and professional life. Full of awesomeness and highly recommended to all! If everyone in the world reads this the world might just become a better place!
I received a copy of this book for an honest, independent review. Thank you, Catherine and Literally PR.
Catherine Stothart’s ‘How To Get On With Anyone: Even the Difficult Ones’ is a practical and insightful guide to improving relationships, making it a must-read for professionals, leaders and anyone looking to communicate more effectively.
Now in its second edition, the book builds on Stothart’s 30 years of experience in leadership roles at top multinational companies – including Google – and has been updated to reflect the modern challenges of hybrid and digital communication in today’s Zoom-dominated world.
At the heart of the book is a framework based on Linda Berens’ well-researched model of four personality styles. Stothart makes this theory accessible by renaming them Navigator, Mobiliser, Energiser and Synthesiser, helping readers identify their own style and adapt their approach to connect better with others.
This isn’t a book that needs to be read cover to cover; it’s structured in a way that allows readers to dip in and out, finding relevant sections as needed. The addition of neuroscience research, a well-organised ‘setting the scene’ introduction and a free downloadable workbook enrich the learning experience, while practical exercises throughout the book help reinforce key concepts. There's also a helpful quiz on the website to identify your personality style if you're unsure.
Whether you’re managing a team, dealing with difficult colleagues, or simply looking to get along better with those around you, this book offers valuable insights that can be put into practice immediately.
I found it fascinating to learn about the different personality styles and what drives people’s behaviour. I particularly enjoyed learning about my own style (Navigator!) and how it influences my interactions with others.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their relationships, both professionally and personally.
So i was really looking forward to getting stuck into this book, im currently having to deal with a difficult person so this seemed like the perfect book at the perfect time. I loved chapter one "your brain and you" and learning about emotional intelligence and the importance of perception with both how you look and how you sound and the effects it has. I found it really interesting and i think id like to do a little more reading around that. I came a little unstuck with finding out my style, i really struggle to fit myself into one of the four and found myself straddling two, even after asking friends and family i got an even amount for two different styles so i decided to read the relevant chapters for both as i was doing the dip in and out method that the author suggests in the introduction. Its a really well written book, i found it easy to follow and everything was explained really well so i didn't ever feel lost in the text and i came away having learnt a few things. I found the work sheets really useful in working through things and whilst i struggled to pinpoint my style i found everything that i read useful in some way. I defiantly think this is aimed more at people in more corporate positions, i can see this being very helpful if you're leading a team of people with a variety of styles to work with but whilst i found it interesting and i learnt things I'm not sure i found it as useful as i could have. But its defiantly a very interesting book and I'm glad that I've read it.
The book is the right length in that it doesn't have any filler. How refreshing!!!!
It divides personalities into 4 groups, and describes in detail how to interact with each of them from each other's perspective. It also has an excellent chapters on how to develop resilience and self-confidence. By excellent, I mean that they are excellent summaries, not too much info and not too little.
A “must read” book for every manager and for anyone working with people; with clear, useful tools and frameworks to improve and manage interpersonal relationships. I have gained great insight in how to control my own emotions and how I communicate to others.
This book really helped me understand my impact on other people. And also make me realise why some people wind me up – and what to do about it. The practical tips in the book are a goldmine, especially during this lockdown, when getting on with the people you live with is essential!
Not practical, not inspiring and definitely not a useful guide. Instead; repetitive, disappointing and so boring to read that I did not finished. At least I learned not to “buy 1 get 1 half price” books anymore…
Really cool book worth reading for anyone in any work or social environment. I gained insight about my own communication style and also about how to handle others' styles.
