About the author

Aya Nakahara is an award-winning Japanese comic book author who made her debut in 1995. She is most famous for her Kansai-dialect romantic comedy series Lovely Complex (also known as ラブ★コン or Love★Com) which as well as spawning a feature film and a 24-episode animated television series has been translated into many different languages and has been published across the world.

She primarily writes in the romance and romantic comedy genres. Her most recent work is Dame no Watashi Koishite kudasai R (ダメな私に恋してくださいR).

Es que hay varias cosas que no me gustan pero al mismo tiempo me hace sentir tantas cosas bonitas en cada capítulo que no puedo ponerle menos estrellas.

En este volumen sigue Otani estudiando y aparece un nuevo crio que intenta seducir a Risa 😅🤣 Otani se enoja terminan pero luego vuelven y listo. Luego Nobu cambia sus planes a futuro porque su abuelita está enferma y deben irse al campo por una temporada, pasan más cosas con Nakaocchi pero al final se soluciona.
Y finalmente Otani ya rindió su examen, en el siguiente tomo la continuación xd.

Y por un malentendido, y una acción a escondidas de Riza(no hagas cosas “buenas” que parezcan MALAS), hay problemas, GRANDES problemas.

The love rival plot lines in the last three volumes of this manga have been predictable, introducing no situations or interactions I haven't already seen a hundred times in shoujo manga. What sets this title apart for me is both of its leads having no smarts or dignity whatsoever (usually it's a ditzy/dumb girl and a cool/smart guy), and our leads poorly coping with the transition from being a manzai duo into sweethearts. Well, why not both? I think that's where things will settle into, in the end.

Otra vez estuve lagrimeando con la relacion de esos dos.
Llega otro enano a la historia que es un granito en el culito ajjaaj y Otani está celoso y concentrado tanto en estudiar que termina con Risa; la verdad es que ella si fue un poco tarada en este tomo, pero me encantó como todo acabó. Ambos son una pareja hermosa

A decir verdad Kohori me agrada mucho. Y me gustó que Risa tuviera otro pretendiente que no sea Haruka, ya que Otani ha tenido varias.

It's only 9 o' clock in the morning but I finished this thing all in one sitting!!!

THIS REVIEW IS GONNA BE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!



I love this story so much. It's probably MY FAVORITE ANIME/MANGA IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE OF UNIVERSES!! (Along with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, but these two series have almost nothing in common.)

Anyway, this story was just REALLY GOOD, especially this volume.
To be truthfully honest, I haven't read all the volumes up to volume 10. I mean, I remember reading volume 1. And 2. And 3...and 6. And then after 10, I read...16 and 17. That's all I remember.
I just know the whole series from the anime. (And yeah. I think the anime missed a few parts here and there, but the anime was still REALLY GOOD.) I'm watching it along with writing the review RIGHT NOW!

It took me less than 24 hours to finish the whole anime series. I couldn't sleep until it was finished! It made me squeal and shriek so loud I think the windows of my house almost broke...


A-NEEE-WAAAY, I'm guessing you all know what this story is about by now, right? A really short guy and a really tall girl fall in love, even though it's sorta strange that the girl is taller than the guy. It's so original!

This review is mainly going to be about my ranting thoughts about what happened in this book.


So Otani has to study for exams.
For those of you that have never had to study really, really hard for something before, you probably should know that all this studying that you have to do puts this huge damper in life.

Theresa's Personal Experience
1. Lack of sleep. (Coming to school looking like a zombie.)
2. STRESS. (Includes aching back, stomach aches, headaches, and the woozies.)
3. UTTER BOREDOM. (Studying is boring.)
4. Time away from yo' friends. (Because friends are distractions, especially MINE.)

And if you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend or someone you date, you'd have to be spending a little time away from them, too. And THAT has it's own set of problems.


I just learned about relationships last year, when I was 14. And they're SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND! (I'd rather not date. It's all so dramatic!)

FIRST, you must be faithful to your partner. (That's not so hard, if you're not a fox.)
THEN, you have to NOT make your partner mad. (Because a lot of relationships that I've seen ended really quickly because of arguments or disagreements or incompatibility.) And that IS a little hard because you tend to have arguments no matter what!
I mean, there's not a person in the world that can fully agree with ME all the time.
ALSO, you have to commit to dates and spending time with your partner (which isn't very hard either, if you LOVE THEM).

It gets more complicated than that, trust me.

But anyway, if you're busy studying and stuff, your partner will be LONELY! Which is exactly what happened to Risa in this book.


But I ADMIRE RISA SO MUCH!!
I mean she approached Otani trying to HELP that butt face, and he's like, "NO, GIRLFRIEND! LEAVE ME ALONE AND LET ME STUDY!!!!!"
As if she wasn't his girlfriend. WHO TREATS HIS GIRLFRIEND LIKE THAT?!
(I love Otani, but seriously.)
(....to be truthfully honest, when I have a boyfriend, I don't want him to treat me like a girlfriend. I want him to treat me the way he ALWAYS DOES no matter what. I don't want any differences between friend and girlfriend!
Yeah, you guys think I'm weird for saying that, but...is there a specific way to treat a girlfriend? I WANT MY RELATIONSHIP TO BE TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM EVERYONE ELSE'S. I don't want to be like everyone else.
ME AND MY HUBBY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!!!!

I mean, I've seen Nigahiga videos of a guy giving the girl things like...Deodorant and such. And I've also seen some guys giving the girl things like...pencils. And paper. Things that are plain.
And the girl is like, "Um, dude. Guys usually give girls flowers and chocolate.
*The guy is like, "Flower and chocolate won't make your B.O. disappear the way deodorant does! So how are those going to be useful?!"*
Flowers and chocolate are the usual-usual. If my boyfriend is going to give me anything, he should give me something SPECIAL. If he gives me deodorant, I'll sock his face. But if he gets me something like...a guitar pick, that'd be nice too. I mean, I've gotten a guitar pick from a guy before, and I love it! I STILL love it!
And I already have like 2000000 guitar picks, so that guitar pick...probably won't make the biggest difference. But I'll still love it! It's different and filled with thought!

Anyway, back to the subject . . .)

So Risa was really...really...AWESOME. Trying to cope with Otani no matter how big of a jerk he was. But never saying, "Ugh, that stupid jerk! I'm just trying to help!! I'M NEVER HELPING THAT BUTT AGAIN!!!"
She was like, "I really am useless....I should just let him study. I'm...just getting in the way! (*bawls)"
(Still, if I was Risa, I'd probably give Otani a piece of my mind, or two, or three!)

THAT is a lot for a woman to do. So her doing that must mean that she really likes Otani. A LOT.
I mean, I'd never stick around a guy like that if I didn't like him. I'd use a karate kick on his HEAD, and then I'd skip away into I-don't-care wonderland!


Anyway, Risa was getting lonely. (Just like I said earlier.) But she never THOUGHT of fooling around behind Otani's back. That'd be really, really jerky, but Risa isn't like that at all.

ALAS, Otani sees Risa with that one other short dude (....Kohori-kun, was it?) and he's suspicious, and then all this drama happens after THAT.


1. IT IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT TO TRUST YOUR PARTNER.
If you can't trust them, it causes a huge problem.

And...it's less stressful for both partners.
If you're sitting there going, "I DON'T TRUST THEM!!!" it makes YOU feel bad.
If you're sitting there not being trusted when you should be, it gets you frustrated, too.


2. RESIST ALL TEMPTATIONS (that could put a damper to your relationship)

If you're the one being tempted, you'll be the one guilty in the end, and you'll have to say sorry.
If you're the one that got hurt, you'll probably find it kind of hard to forgive, AND you feel bad about being hurt, too.

3. WHEN YOU LOVE SOMEBODY, YOU NEVER, EVER, EVER GIVE UP ON THEM! (Not for the world!)

Because if Risa hadn't tried to get back to Otani, they'd probably would never have gotten back together because Otani was so incredibly stubborn.
Like an ox.


I love stories where something wrong happens between two people, and one person has the guts to run after it and try to fix things, instead of sitting there weeping.



This story just teaches a lot about relationships and how two people who love each other can argue SO MUCH.
I mean, I know it's way easier to be in a relationship where you two ALWAYS AGREE, but I wouldn't mind if the person I'm with is way different from me.
I mean, I hate asian food. But if he likes asian food, that's totally fine!
I play the guitar, but if he hates music, that's fine, too! (But who on earth could hate music?!)

And I love anime, but if he hates anime....(*sniffle) That's fine, too! (But who'd...hate...anime?)



ALL IN ALL, this book was really funny. THE. FUNNIEST. THING. EVER. I love it.










Recommended for those in need of a laugh.
If you're feeling down, go and try to find this series at your local bookstore/library. It'll MAKE YO' FROWN TURN UPSIDE DOWN!

Reread - The new character was so annoying (kissing someone while they are asleep is sexual assault!!!!)...but the ending was beautiful so I had to give 5 stars even though I was yelling at my laptop at the dumb plot.

[?- 8/11/25] ~ No me acuerdo hace cuánto tengo este manga empezado, pero lo tenía ahí tirado esperando ser (re)leído, y hoy fue el día. Sí, el “conflicto” de este tomo es ridículo. Sí, Risa actuó mal. Sí, me chupa un huevo porque los amo a mis hijos y me generan una serotonina incomparable. La única otra historia que me genera una serotonina de esta magnitud es la novela gráfica Fence .

yay! this is my fav one in the whole series!!!
okay don;t get me wrong i was sad they broke up but for some reason i love when manga couples break up becuase when they do they show how much they miss eachother and love each other.
and the ending was cute! and i love jealous Otani.
Drama is agony but i always end up loving it whne im done.

I still see their relationship as toxic where Risa thinks she has to try harder to win Ôtani’s affection and win him back from the breakup when a true good relationship shouldn’t always be that way. If he is so jealous and won’t listen to her side of the story, then he doesn’t deserve her, they’re not meant to be together. She shouldn’t have to make it “work”. But then I’m not too familiar with the Japanese culture and maybe that’s how they tend to think as teenagers when they’re learning to be in a relationship. As you can see, I’m very biased because I’ve been listening too much to a podcast where they give relationship advice 😂

This is stressing me out. But I love the angst. But otani is kind of a guy I feel like you have to walk on eggshells around and don't know if he's gonna be mean, insult you, yell at you, make you feel embarrassed and now you'd have to be scared if he's going to break up again but he comes back. He's so hot and cold and because I have experienced a guy like that irl for myself, I don't know how to feel about it right now. I guess it's fiction and going to work out but it rubbs me the wrong way because it triggers the anxiety I felt because of my personal experience.

Un manga marrant qui se lit bien.

J'ai bien aimé suivre l'évolution des sentiments des personnages et des réflexions autour.

Par contre pas top l'amitié / amour avec des piques, des critiques, des engueulades et des coups à longueur de journée.
En fait, ça crie un peu trop tout au long du manga.

C'est aussi pas assez féministe à mon goût et ça banalise du sexisme ou des agressions sexuelles... Notamment avec le grand-père insupportable.

Et à la fin ça traîne trop en longueur. Je pense que ça aurait pu s'arrêter avant.

Divertente, ironico e leggero. Mi è stata regalata l’intera serie per Natale.
Ho visto l’anime ispirato a questo manga non so quante volte durante il periodo delle superiori. Poterlo finalmente leggere è una vera emozione per me.
Pur trattando tematiche adolescenziali, l’autrice affronta anche argomenti più complessi: emerge, per esempio, il tema transgender, il che lo rende un manga assolutamente adatto alla nostra contemporaneità pur essendo stato realizzato a partire dal 2001.

Ok so I hope Risa will be better at establishing boundaries to prevent something like this happening again, HOWEVER it’s not her fault someone kissed her while she was unconscious. That’s just not ok in any way shape or form. They really need to communicate better in a way thats not yelling or avoiding the topic all together to grow in their relationship and be the best they can be for one another.

This volume was about how someone can start betraying without really meaning too. I mean, when someone starts betraying, I'm sure at first they don't feel/think what they are doing is wrong. and then after a while, they get too used to it that they can't get out of it. this volume did a wonderful job of showing how people end up hurting people they love.

Otani está muy metido en sus estudios, tanto así que ha descuidado a Risa y esta esta un poco preocupada por esta situación, lo malo es que se complica la relación ya que aceptó salir con Kohori a pesar de que lo hizo sin mala intención pero esto hizo que Otani tomara una decisión muy drástica

Sin embargo al final en Nochebuena pasa algo mágico y súper romántico es lo mejor de este tomo
