I got another copy of this bookbook in the July Walking Dead box, says it has 3 extra recipes. Once again, click on the link under the picture to see the goodies!

THE GOODIES LINK

Okay, people keep asking! THIS IS A COOKBOOK! Like it says, like I have said and like some of the crappy pictures I have shown! There are great, REAL, recipes in the book! This is for fans of THE SHOW AND IT'S AWESOME

I have had this cookbook FOREVER! And NO, I haven't made anything out of it yet. There are some nice recipes in it too. They also tell you how to preserve and things like that. I'm going to show you a few pictures. There are tons of recipes in the book and I just love it.

Sorry the pictures don't look all that great. I got mad that it was taking so long to work on this as I need to get off this computer! And then I got mad and just slapped them together so they are blurred now too. But, you will get the general idea!

Of course now I'm hungry!

Enjoy!

Lauren Wilson’s The Walking Dead: the official cookbook and survival guide is no joke. Yunhee Kim’s photography takes me back to episodes. Makes me feel afraid this could be my last meal 😳

This book is a fun way to enjoy decent recipes of all type that are easy to create. The tips for survival are top notch. With weather events growing more dire, such as the multiple feet of snow in Cali to hurricanes and crazy unheard of Derecho that destroyed half my roof and decimated the county. Not just killing 60% of the trees as old as the city of Cedar Rapids. But the storm was 100’s of miles long. Crawling across the country from west to east. Unannounced. No warning.

Almost two weeks of no electricity. Months without internet. After two years people are finally recovering. The one’s who could.

Me, just returned from a boon-dock outing in the Tennessee wilderness knew what to do. Battery operated fan. Solar lights indoors. Charged outside during the day. Lithium battery and solar panel to charge it. Surveillance dependent on electricity could be run by the lithium Jackery if needs.

Property solar dependent was a solar beacon being the only lit property anytime people walked or drove by. Though so many downed trees it was a week or so before people could drive in to assess the damage. Figure out how to connect electricity and all the other needs.

Me, MacGyver built a smoker from cinderblocks. When cell service popped on posted on community media about this and encouraged people to cook what they had and share.

People grilled pancakes to steaks directing people to their lawns.

Others brought food to a drop off point to share. This went on for a few weeks.

Sharing this to show even someone in the middle of the country can get hit by a land hurricane.

This book has tips and tricks for all our needs. Not just recipes, survival caches. How to get and clean water. Even water to avoid.

I’m not a survivalist, by any means. But, with military experience never assume everything is gonna be okay. Basic skills in survival can make a difference between life and death. Being calm foraging and organizing to freaking out and making crap worst.

Page 142 had resources listed. Further reading o help with foraging, gardening, hunting, sprouting, food preservation, general survival.

These meals and recipes are fun for family, friends, and as a single.

My son is grown, but is into wilderness camping. Sometimes with no gear. When he was little I could see us digging into this for family fun. Pretending and prepared in case of a zombie apocalypse or someday storm that gets no help from the state or federal government for weeks.

With ours, the government didn’t listen when we begged for help. There was no official announcement like other hurricanes and tornado warnings seen on the news to give people time to prepare. When they finally sent help the communities learned how resilient we can be together. This book could have definitely helped.

What’s fun about each recipe is the dedication to a Walking Dead character and added details that take me back to the episode and moment in time fans will forever recollect. New fans will find a fun addition to the meal or dessert.

Making actual food from the show is another. Though, even if the world succumbed to zombies I’m not sure I’d be convinced to eat Squirrel Piquante, page 78.

Pretty certain the only ingredient available would be the floofy tail rat. Ingredients like olive oil and Cajun seasoning is probably not anywhere to be found.

This book is a collision of no apocalypse and foraging is there’s a need. Why it appeals to my many senses as a veteran and someone who keeps practicing with dried ingredients on hand to help me survive for way more then the standard few days assuming help is coming.

These things are handy for camping, hiking, and even when there’s nothing but a fun recipe to be made then watch a scary movie or show 😆

In real life I’d substitute the rodent with a couple Cornish game hens. Then, I think I could eat it, though visions of road kill would no doubt haunt me as I chew 🤣

Some of you might enjoy this other white meat. Page 78 is worth trying.

Giving this 5⭐️‘s. Even if not a fan this book can be fun with students to get their creative juices going. Of, families to work together as a fun way to trial and error prep in case the real life world crashes during a weather or other event.

It’s my believe doing things when it’s fun or not traumatic makes for less fear if something happens unplanned. Like, those people buried under snow in California would benefit from a few tips in this glossary of useful info in survival circumstances.

Hoping those folks and any other caught in hard times from a horrid circumstance can find peace within as they create peace without.

Bought mine on Amazon in the used book section for $4.71. Was a discarded library book. If ya didn’t know below the new book section people sell used books. I look for groups like More Than Words out of Boston that help youth from foster care learn business skills by selling used books. Some sellers are from libraries keeping books from landfills. Goodwill and other charities are listed. Even small family businesses finding ways to make extra money repurposing tossed out books.

Highly recommend checking this section out.

In the case of this book, in less than two years it’s now priced many times more due to being out of print. As an investor of print books this one’s a keeper and heirloom.

If there’s ever grandkids could be a fun activity meal planner. Thinking maybe even with my grown son might wanna try as a family including survival tips. As we both enjoy this sort of inventory in life skills.

Great cookbook! Love how the recipes were inspired by the show. I felt like each one fit the theme perfectly, especially the ones that were recognizable from the show like Carol's Cookies. I also appreciate how the back of the book provided some websites to find the specialty ingredients like Acorn Flour. I really wanted to try the Acorn Flour cookie recipe and had no idea how I would obtain that ingredient til I saw that page in the back. I'm also not a hunter so the websites to order the game meats from makes Daryl inspired recipes much more possible in the future. This book is an awesome addition to my growing collection of cookbooks! A must for any walking dead fan!

Just because zombies are everywhere doesn’t mean you can’t have a decent meal…

The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide by Lauren Wilson is an interesting officially licensed project that’s equal parts cookbook and in universe artifact.

The first thirty pages or so dive into hunting, foraging, trading, and other survival essentials in a post zombie world. Some examples of their use in the show are also mentioned.

The bulk of the book (about two thirds) are recipes meant to be drawn from food the characters likely experienced during the first couple of seasons. Before each recipe there are comments regarding who the recipe belong to from either before the end or the Kingdom or Negan or one of the regular characters. The food is a nice variety from main courses to appetizers to deserts to whatever.

The last third are where it really matters…drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic…with the last couple pages on long term food preservation (for those with a desire to prepare for the future).

Nice little book that has some decent production to it.

Love, Love, Love! The first section has survival techniques incase an apocalypse, zombie or otherwise, occurs. The recipes can easily be made at home or if you’re on the run from walkers.
There are so many references to the characters and events from the show. The dishes are also named after characters (like, Carl’s Chocolate Pudding).
I’ve only made “Lori’s (Not so) God-awful Pancakes” and they were really yummy. I can’t wait to make more!

The BEST companion to the show! A few pages on hunting, fishing, foraging, food preservation, and other survival skills after the apocalypse hits. The majority is a slew of recipes either directly made in the show by our heroes and villains, or inspired by them. The photography is absolutely scrumptious and the writing is perfect, with numerous jokes and asides. Even has instructions for some of the more outlier ingredients like arrowroot powder and game meat like venison.

This is a takeoff from the TV show so it will be of interest primarily to fans. Chapter One covers survival basics, and the other chapters include recipes for sweets, beverages and food preservation. Some interesting photos. Also includes resources and suggestions for further reading (about survival, foraging, etc.) There is a Table Of Contents but no Index.

I was hoping for more survival and less cookbook but it was good for what it is. although I don't really feel like the recipes were tailor-made for survival in the wilderness or after civilization ends.

RR 22-3

There’s a chapter on wilderness (or zombie apocalypse) survival including what to pack in a bug out bag, how to hunt, fish, cook and bake on a fire. Beautiful photos and genuine variety of recipes including wild game. More cookbook than survival guide. Good book, not top 6

To be honest, I did not buy this for the recipes. Though there are some good ones.
I bought this as a loyal fan of the series and have gifted to like-minded friends. The pictures are nostalgic, and the survival tips are super fun!

I would have enjoyed it more if I were a Walking Dead fan. There were many interesting and innovative recipes in there ...some squirrel, rabbit & deer. The sweet treats appeal to me the most, especially Homemade Chocolate Clusters & Homemade Big Cat Bars. Tara's Turkey Chili also looks good!
