WINNER OF THE FICTION AWARDS 2016 - HISTORICAL FICTION

Against all odds, Libby Marks-Whelan is back at court - and no longer confined to the service corridors as a lady-in-waiting. With the start of the new Winter Season, however, the competition for a crown just got a lot fiercer. Now that there are two princes searching for wives, Libby struggles not just against the other debutantes but also against the monotony of court life in her new position. With the queen's disapproval aimed squarely in her direction, will she weather the storm to win her prince?

***Please note that this story is the sequel to The Season. Since there are many characters, backstories, and subplots that I won't be able to fully explain in the first few chapters, I strongly recommend you read The Season first!***

I would just like to say that this book had me screaming frequently as I read it. The suspense and the irony were so intense, it was stressful yet so enjoyable to read. The characters have such depth and the historical accuracy was amazing. The plot was highly involved, giving a little mystery to this romance in the historical fiction genre. I highly recommend; it's a phenomenal sequel to The Season. The relationships between the characters are intense, the narration wraps you up and makes you feel like you're Libby, the descriptions transport you to another world, honestly just a phenomenal book all around

* AFTER I’M DONE WITH THE BOOK
I enjoyed the last 10 chapters better than the whole first 35+ chapters in the beginning, it was hard to read and I really was tempted to stop reading but I hate to not finish stuff so I tried my best. Firstly, I wanted to state that this book really has potential and it was quite a journey reading this series but I will hop off the train to continue onwards. Secondly, I think we can all agree that the Libby we know in this book is hardly the same girl in book 1 (The Season), and this played a big factor in my negative opinion towards this sequel. Thirdly, I wanted to talk about Elizabeth’s behaviour that people in the comments were supporting. It was a bit toxic how we are nurturing this manner and as a new Wattpad reader, it has truly left me a bad impression on Wattpad users. Yes its normal for people to be imperfect when they are still maturing but it isn’t right to normalise people with their flawed attitudes and not tell them, we should acknowledge our mistakes and learn to deal with it. That’s the main point of maturing but people are excusing this behaviour just because she is 16 and can throw a fit whenever she wants and inquire anything she wish for. The worst thing is that no one in this book even genuinely tell Elizabeth what her real problem is and just slide it off. Everyone in this book as a friend to Libby are dedicating so much effort for Libby to be happy but she is too blind to cherish it.

* MY OPINIONS WHILE READING THE BOOK
- 14 chapters in
Im so disappointed! Elizabeth is just self-absorbed and if things don’t go her way, she reacts very immaturely. The whole story just seemed like the royal siblings have to bow down to her in order to please her agony and in addition, I pitied Andrew for having to keep up with socials events and Elizabeth’s comfortless. Andrew is working hard to get something he cherishes but it’s so sickening how inconsiderate Elizabeth is in return to Andrew. Lastly I hate the “I’m not like the other girls” reference and it’s even included in the dialogue, that’s just a complete turn off. I’m already debating whether to continue reading this.

- 25 chapters in
I noticed Elizabeth’s inner thought about Adelaide and how she portraits her is just irrational, Adelaide did nothing but sees Elizabeth as a good friend but in return Elizabeth sees her as a rival just because she is somehow a closer friend to the Royals. The conversation in this chapter just made me dislike Elizabeth even more.

- 32 chapters in
I’ll say it again and again, Elizabeth is selfish and I hate myself for admitting it. You snuck out and you’ll deal with the consequences, it sucks but it’s going to be worth it right? For the love of your life? Yes of course but how is Elizabeth so narrow-minded? Isn’t she supposed to be ‘different’ than other girls who actually has ‘brains’? Elizabeth is just constantly asking for more and she will never be fulfilled.

- 34 chapters in
She doesn’t sort out her priorities. She asked for Andrew to openly court her and she was warned with the outcome that she would have to deal with and still acted like she never knew and have tantrums every few seconds. If Andrew didn’t openly court her, she would still end up jealous and having a breakdown every few minutes. So what is it that she actually wants?

- 38 chapters in
The character development in this chapter isn’t enough for Libby to recognised how much damage she has caused to the people around her. She hasn’t truly understand yet and it’s insufficient, if the author could spend more time on this part then you could have change my mind about Elizabeth.

It's rare to find such gems like this on wattpad, but when I do I always wish there were hardcover versions of them as well. Absolutely worth it to publish one day.

This sequal was everything I could've wanted for a sequal. The plot was nicely paced, character development was evident and just gahhhhhh i loved everything about it. This book FINALLY has a male character who isn't some mysterious, dark badboy who makes bad decisions. No, it actually has a smart, thoughtful and loving male character which is quite refreshing compared to other books nowadays. Libby is also a very strong character, fighting for a freedom for high prices which is admirable seeing the whole setting of this story.

This whole review is pretty much a mess, but if you ever have the opportunity to read this series you should.

I’d give this one a solid 3.8.

This book had SO much potential. I read this a while back so i can’t really recall everything at the top of my head but i remember being so frustrated with Libby throughout this entire book. Her character took a 180 from the first book and its soo disheartening cuz i loved her in The Season. I also feel that this wasn’t near as exciting as the first book. Nevertheless, i’m just as obsessed with how beautifully written this book is as the first one🥹.

I liked the first book alot more than this one, but still enjoyed this. The only things i didnt like were Libbys newfound jealousy, and the annoying problems that arose. Libby it seemed changed in this book and i didnt like it much though i understood why.

With the Queens dissaproval aimed squarely in her direction will she weather the storm and win the prince?

This is the second book in a four book season series and it tells the story of Libby's time at court as a Debutante for the winter Season. But just because shes there as a debutante now rather than a attendant to a debutante as she was in the first book doesnt mean she has an easiertime of it, infact if anythiing its even harder because the competiton for the crown is even tougher than it was last time as both the Princes are taking part.

Again as with the first book When I read the synopsis for this book on WattPad I was sure that I was going to love it, even more so beacuse I'd already read the first book in the seres The Season and now i've read the book I can say I wasn't dissapointed, thus the 4 out of 5 star rating. And because of all the afore mentioned things I have to say that this is a book that I will both reccomend to others and buy it as a gift for anyone I think would enjoy it.

It was great being back in Libby and Prince Andrews love story because they are so well suited that its what you could call a match made in Heaven. Again the authors writing was so captivating and evocative that as a reader you feel as though your experiencing the events along with characters. One of the debutantes that we meet in this book is Pricess Dulcina of Ardalone (learn more about her and her family in The Rebel Prince) who expects to be "crowned" the next queen of Pretania at the emd of the season thanks to a Marriage Treaty that was signed by her Father and the King of Pretania, surfice to say shes not happy when she looses out to Libby.

I loved the fact that Libby was attending this seasons as a debutante as apposed to a debutantes attendant, as she was in the first book, she was still as singleminded, determined, intoreant of
the other debutantes simpering and backstabbing (as well as the general backstabbing within the royalcourt, and doggedly honest as she was in the first book. The strengthening of the relationships between Libby and the Prince and Princess as well as the development of the relationship between
the young prince and Prince Andrews best friend were great.

The one dharacter whos behaviour I couldn't make sense of at all while reading this book was the
King, because it just seemed so out of character for him. It baffles me still furher now I've read
the Heiress Queen, the prequel to the series, as it seems completely out of the relms of what you'd
expect from how he was portrayed in this book.

This book was so captivating that from cover to cover it just couldn't put it down and as soon as
soon as I'd finished reading this one I immediately strated reading the next book in the series The
Rebel Prince (unfortunatley not yet a completed book on WaatPad), because I needed more more more.
