About the author

Dr. Mike Goldsmith studied the philosophy of time and space at Keele University, where he also obtained his PhD in astrophysics. He was formerly the head of Acoustics at the UK's National Physical Laboratory and is now an author of nonfiction books for children.

This series has always been one of my favorites, because though I simply hate reading anything about great people(they seem to go on and on about nothing but great deeds), this series had me up and reading about everyone I could. It's funny, innovative and really easy to understand.

I mean, I never ever, in my wildest dreams, imagined that I could have understood anything about the principle of relativity, or the laws of motion, but after reading this book, I found out that it wasn't that tough after all. The book not only makes super-tough physics theories easy to understand, it’s laced with humor on every page, making it not only easy, but fun to learn.

Kardeşim okuyup çok beğendikten sonra bana da önerdi ve bende kitap Einstein üzerine de olunca okumaya karar verdim. Timaş'tan çıkan Eğlenceli Bilgi serisi her ne kadar çocuklara yönelik olsa da herkesin okuyabileceği kadar iyiler bence, kitaplar gerçekten çok güzel hazırlanmış. İçlerinde hem konuyla ilgili çok önemli bilgiler var hem de karikatürler ve esprilerle okumak eğlenceli hale geliyor.
Bu kitaba gelince çok beğendim, Einstein'le ilgili bilmediğim bir çok bilgi öğrendim ve okuması gerçekten eğlenceliydi. İzafiyet teorisi gibi konuları bile çok iyi anlatmış, fizik sevmeyenler ama izafiyeti anlamak isteyenler için birebir :)
Kitabın içindeki çizimleri Yürüyen Kentler yazarı Philip Reeve yapmış ve çizimler çok güzeller. Genel olarak güzel kitaptı, çocuk kitabı diye küçümsemeyin içeriği hem sağlam hem güzel.
Not: Bu seriyi tüm çocukların okuması gerektiğini düşünüyorum, hem eğlenceli hem öğretici bir seri hem de anlaşılır.

Very interesting, also very educational, I found out lots of things I never knew. Like, for instance I never knew that moving things shrink or that moving things get heavier It also has lots of stuff about Albert himself that I never new.

O livro perfeito pra introduzir a física moderna pra qualquer um, idealmente se você tiver um bom senso de humor. É origalmente escrito pra adolescentes e pré-adolescentes mas ele tem uma linguagem muito acessível a todos os públicos(e ênfase a crianças com muito potencial).

Beto foi um ser humano incrível e peculiar, no livro você percebe quanto tempo ele passava usando seu cérebro para conjecturar coisas e descobrir o funcionamento do universo de uma maneira que só um gênio poderia enxergar as coisas. É tudo tão bem explicado no livro que a leitura é até bem rápida, se você prestar atenção vai conseguir aprender de verdade e principalmente se apaixonar pelo universo e pela ciência. A imensidão do que sabemos é ínfima perto do que ignoramos.

Tui mua quyển này (bản dịch tiếng Việt) cùng với quyển Vũ trụ trong vỏ hạt dẻ của Stephen Hawking. Tui định đọc quyển này sau quyển Vũ trụ trong vỏ hạt dẻ, nhưng đọc dở thì chả hiểu gì sất. Cái gì mà ete, từ trường, trọng lực, vật chất.... Vậy là tui lại lôi ra quyển này và đọc trước. Quả nhiên đọc xong như được thông não. Quyển sách giải thích rất dễ hiểu, có cả ví dụ và tranh minh hoạ. Sau mỗi câu chuyện khám phá của Einstein, thì tác giả có "chốt" lại để người đọc nắm thông tin rõ hơn. Tất cả đều rất rõ ràng dù đôi khi đọc xong lại rất mơ hồ (có thể vì không hiểu các từ vựng và định nghĩa). Bằng giọng văn hài hước nhưng lại giúp người đọc nhớ lâu và hiểu sâu về những khám phá vĩ đại từ bộ óc siêu việt Einstein. Cảm ơn tác giả Dr Mike Goldsmith.

Um dos primeiros livros que li na vida. Tenho um carinho muito grande por ele. Simplifica conceitos complexos e te dá uma visão geral sobre as teorias da relatividade de Einstein. O que eu mais gostei de aprender nesse livro foi que, ao que parece, o universo tem espaço infinito de tal modo que é impossível chegar em sua borda. Você basicamente vai ficar andando em círculos, ainda que esteja andando em linha reta, sempre voltando ao ponto inicial. É nesse sentido que é infinito, e não no sentido de ter espaço infinito em uma linha reta.

Interessantíssimo embora ultrapassado em alguns pontos específicos devido aos avanços da física teoria moderna.

I really enjoyed the other books in this series, but unfortunately, this one wasn't one of my favorites. Let's compare this book to someone in their field; I'll use the book about Newton as an example. Newton's book kept me more engaged, and his findings were explained in a simpler way. I'll still give this book a rating of 4 because I believe the issue was my lack of understanding due to my limited interest in that particular area of physics.

Such a delectable, playfully written yet brilliantly illustrative book on the most remarkable man of the 20th century. It's not often you would burst out laughing when the book you are reading is about deals with Relatively, Black Holes, Quantum Physics and the likes!

A really good book. From kids to adults anyone, that wants to learn about the special and general theory of realtivity, can read this book. Besides, the autor has a little bias when the history of Albert Einstein becomes a political. In general, a book that made me laugh when I understood the concepts easily explained.

Well, I have always loved Bio, liked Chem and dreaded Physics. Newton and Einstein were some robotic geniuses to me. But this book changed all that. Or at least ma assumptions about Einstein. This book shows that Einstein is a human and humans can understand the Relativity Theory and other endless theories. This book showed that Einstein was a genius because he tried to think beyond common sense. That he was a human who fell in love not once or twice but thrice (The rascal even had an affair!). That he was a human who was quite forgetful and who fell sick a lot. That he was a human who spent more years fighting for humanity than for researching. That he was a human who went cuckoo as Oppenheimer said. He hated school. And he became a genius out of his curiosity and interest and not because of his schooling. Cuz his report cards said that he didn't know Physics at all and he even quit schools out of pure hatred (he hates teachers bossing kids around). None of his theories have any elaborate equations and is explained in simple language. The theory I liked the most is that of objects shrinking at motion. The theory I couldn't make head or tail of was the Quantum Theory. There are lotsa weird things about Einstein in this book which I wanna scream out here, but then this review would turn out to be a great spoiler. Whatever, the book was really good and the funny gags and illustrations added to the charm.

I read this book when I was around 8 or 7 and the wording makes potentially difficult concepts extremely easy for laymen to understand and grasp. This read has influenced me and sparked my curiosity in physics and I'm sure the reader can't help but keep turning the pages.

Provides very useful insight into the life of Einstein and beautifully describes the concepts without the need of many mathematical prerequisites. A good read for all ages.
