"…the ones with the most power are those who don't know when to give up."

I keep forgetting to write a review for this because I read it sometime last month, but this was SO good!

I enjoyed volume one, but I significantly enjoyed this volume even more than the first! Seeing our trio work together for the first half when it came to one of the school mystery was deeply engaging and had me on edge in wondering are they all going to make it. I never expected how that "arc" would wrap up the way it did because it left me a little emotional. Ha!

The next half had me like OH MY GOODNESS!! :o :o :o :o

I AM IN SHOCK!!

The brother!!!!! :o :o :o

Loved the confession tree chapter even though my heart broke for Nene!

But seeing Kou's resolve was EVERYTHING! Hands down my favorite part and cheering so hard for this young man!! <3

Overall, this volume had me seriously considering preordering the boxed set because even weeks later, I still have thought about this volume! Hoping to read volume three soon from my library because I need to see what will happen next!

Okay, I definitely liked this one better than the first volume! The themes and character development were more complex. I was shocked that the end of the volume heavily dived into good versus evil and whether the two can coexist in one being. I’m definitely looking forward to the next volume and getting to know these characters as they face the different mysteries of the school.

Omg, this volume just melted my heart, broke it, then put it back together so it could melt all over again! Hanako and Nene make such a great couple, I am 120% on board for this ship, hi-ho shipping away! While I'm still confused over the specifics regarding the seven mysteries and how each mystery works, the story explains enough so you're not left in the dark while withholding enough to keep you invested. I'm already so pumped to learn about the other mysteries, especially seeing their domains! Who knew near-endless flights of stairs could loo so cool?!

This volume makes great strides in Nene and Hanako's relationship, mainly pushing Nene to try to learn more about him. While Nene is not the deepest character and she is a bit shallow, what I like about her is she's self-aware enough to realize her mistakes and open-minded enough to accept criticism from others. She definitely still has room to grow (I mean, this is only the second volume, so obviously) and I'm truly looking forward to seeing where her character goes from here.

Finally, the conflict surrounding Kou, Teru, and Hanako was really cool and handled well. I like the fact that Kou actually takes the time to think about whether his older brother is right in wanting him exorcised, especially since Kou tends to be easily swayed despite putting up a big front. Seeing him consider both sides makes his decision that much more important because he isn't being his usual flippant self and is taking the situation seriously. As for Teru, he's a pretty one-dimensional character who only exists to be an exorcist who'll exorcise anything because "all supernaturals are bad". Hopefully he'll get more development as the series continues, but for now I'm fine with the role he currently has.

I am so in love with this series that it's not even funny, I can't stand that I have to wait until May for the next volume, I love this soooooooo much!

I wasn't expecting to like this volume so much, it took me by surprise. So cute, so wholesome and yet it took a darker turn by the end. So excited to see what's going to happen, I want to know so much more about Hanako-kun.

Also, Kou is my favorite so far. He's so precious;( And the arstyle... chef's kisses.

Ahahahaha! This series is great! :)
Volume 2 focuses on the Misaki stairs and Fox-san (don’t let Yako hear you say that!), one of the many school mysteries which abound in the school and Yako’s backstory is pretty sad :’(
There are also some really hilarious moments involving the kodama and do I detect there is some chemistry between HK and Nene? Or maybe that’s just me?
There is also a mini showdown between Teru and Kou Minamoto as to who will be the one to exorcise Hanako-kun!
Lots of exciting things to get your teeth into in this volume!

Me encantó todo el desenlace del misterio de las escalera Misaki 😭😭 También Minamoto-kun defendiendo a Hanako de su hermano, es una joyita.

Hanako-kun y su comportamiento me hace sentir igual de confusa que a Nene.

General Comments: Toilet-bound Hanako-kin is translated by Square Enix and Co; story by Iro and illustrated by Aida. This is Volume 2. Reviewing Manga is complicated; reviewing each volume - individually- does not reflect the overall enjoyment of the series. As such, the star-rating should be utilised as a guideline only. If anything, you should pick up Toilet-bound Hanako-kun. The intent of this work is to recall Japanese Tales from Folklore and Mythology, using the contrasting genres of horror and comedy. See Volume 1 for a more personal review.

→ Audiobook Narrator: -

Trigger Warnings:
→ Exploitation (Phobia, Manipulation and Coercion).

Hmm... masih terasa biasa-biasa saja.

I still got a lot of manga to read and explore but what I've read so far this is hands down the best art style I've seen. It is so unique and beautiful, the covers/color palette for this series is beautiful. The art style is just BEAUTIFUL. SPECTACULAR. STUNNING. AMAZING. Oh wait did I mention that the art style is so beautiful and eye-catching? I don't think I've said it enough.

My favorite thing about this series is the humor. The character and the interactions between them are so funny.

Nene is cute, funny, and a dummy. I think she is annoyingly cute, does that even make any sense? She is cute but her fantasies of her love interests are funny but also annoying. Like at times it got me rolling my eyes.

Minamoto's past is kind of sad. I love him, he is so nice, and I feel bad for the way he feels and sees himself.

Minamoto's brother was introduced, I hate him so far and maybe he can like die :)

Hanako ofc my fav, when I look at him, I just can't believe that he is capable of doing anything bad. I know he might've done something bad in the past but maybe he had a good reason???? Or maybe I'm trying to justify what he did. I think I'm fine because we don't even know much about it. Right?

Hanako almost got his butt kicked in this volume and I was scared for a second. I don't want to spoil anything, if you've read this, you'll know what I'm talking about (otherwise why would you be reading this review)

Towards the end of the volume did Hanako fake those tears? Or was he trying to hide it? Either way it made me sad😔

The confession tree might become one my favorite chapters, I thought that Hanako was actually going to confess. Anway confess what? Even there is something going on, I think it's too early and kind of weird l, he a mf ghost lmao. All I can say is that I was fooled like poor Nene.
What Hanako did after was heartbreaking that's why it's probs my favorite, like he took the hat off 🤧

This volume picks up right where we left off in the Misaki Stairs arc, which is a cliffhanger where a pair of large scissors are about to snip Nene in two. She gets saved by Hanako-kun and the two of them along with Kou Minamoto (he was introduced in volume one) manage to stop the second school mystery by cutting her yorishiro (basically her source of power) and stripping her of her power. After that arc comes the chapter on the confession tree and then we move right into the next two chapters, which involves Kou and his older brother, Teru. At the end of the volume, as Nene is trying to learn more about Hanako-kun through books, a girl comes up to her and asks if she’s also interested in the seven school mysteries.

Compared to volume one, things started to pick up in this volume. The romance in this is starting to come on strong here as well, especially with Hanako-kun kissing Nene on the cheek at the end of the Misaki Stairs arc and the whole confession tree chapter. We’re also starting to get hints of Hanako-kun’s past and it begins to raise some questions about his past and what would drive him to commit murder. I feel like this technique of dropping small hints here and there works because it’s definitely going to make you want to know the whole story and rush to pick up the next volume in the series.

THIS HAD CONTENT I HADN’T SEEN BEFORE!!!!! I’m so happy 💖😭💖

I was truly shook to my core when Hanako cried in this. I was quaking. My world shattering. He then immediately proved me wrong and was back to being his pain in the ass self 😂 Bless him 💖 I love my baby

The one I don’t love is Kou’s older brother. He’s a pain in the ass. Do I mostly feel that way because I love Hanako, and he’s a threat to my beloved boy? Yes. I don’t care. Logic has no home here. I would see the world burn before any harm came to my boy Hanako. So, naturally, the eldest Minamoto is my enemy 🔪 He needs to keep his filthy hands off Hanako.

*clears throat*

That aside though, I loved seeing more interactions between Hanako and Kou! We don’t get nearly enough in the anime, so this was truly such a blessing and gift 😭 My OT3 is strengthening. Hanako, Kou, and Nene as a trio supremacy 🙏🏼

Anyway. So happy I decided to read this manga series from the beginning and not just from the point I left off in the anime! It’s delightful to see my babies 💖 I love them so much

P.S. Yako in her fox form is so cute and aggressive. I love her 😂

Yashiro, Hanako, and Kou hunt for the secret of the Misaki Stairs to save the kids who have been spirited away by this school mystery. This mystery eventually gets resolved and Yashiro gets pulled along for another mystery hunt. Later, Kou and Hanako have a bonding moment that is almost ruined by Kou's older brother Teru (Yashiro's Minamoto-sempai) who wants Hanako exorcised.

I'll say this, in this wacky supernatural mystery solving series, the biggest mystery of all is Hanako-kun himself. We know almost nothing about him and it's hard to figure out if what we do know is even true. How much of him is an act and how much of him is genuine? Even Yashiro and Kou are starting to question things and I really wanna know too.

2020 Read #310

3.5 stars

I’m honestly really reminded of Noragami and xxxholic when I read this series, but it still has its own charm and wit about it. Still, I’m not going to rush to read the already-released digital volumes that are out; this story is still episodic enough that I don’t feel that particular urge right now. Even so, the characters are fun and engaging in all the right ways. Definitely recommended.
