Love this series!
Sparkle Witch may be shorter than the others but it is still a great read! I have loved each one! Her cat is my favorite character! He is funny and mysterious. These books are hilarious too. Read in order.

The Lazy Girl's Guide to Magic is a humors and enjoyable series to read.
Sparkle Witch is a novella set around Christmas time. It’s hilariously snarky and full of shenanigans featuring Ivy, Winter, the Order and Brutus.
This was a fun romp with minimum danger, but supreme fun. It’s got all the magical feel of Christmas time with all the priceless amusing moments with our lazy witch, Ivy.
You do need to read the rest of the series; before picking this one up.
Now, I’m not sure if we are going to get more Lazy Girl’s Guide to Magic, but if not this is a nice place to stop.

This comes after a series and a lot of the character details are revealed there. I recommend not reading this until you've finished the others.
This was a cute addition to the series, but not outstanding. It was fun spending a bit more time with Winter and Ivy. The plot is a little light, so mostly it's just fun to have a bit more time before hanging up on the series. So if you want a bit of seasonal flavor with people you liked spending time with, or if you just want to see Ivy and Winter enjoying their domestic resolution (if those aren't the same thing like they are for me), then definitely pick this one up. Particularly if you're in the holiday season and could use some cheer.
A note about Chaste: Yeah, they're enjoying marital bliss and some of that is hinted at. But you don't get more than some affectionate intimacy (fully clothed). So I consider this beautifully chaste.

"Verhexte Feiertage" ist Band 3,5 der "Hex Files" Reihe von Autorin Helen Harper.
Auch wenn ich nicht unbedingt der größte Fan der Bücher bin, finde ich diese Kurzgeschichte wirklich erfrischend und humorvoll. Obwohl sie nicht besonders spannend ist, hat sie mich wirklich gut unterhalten. Vermutlich liegt das an Brutus, der hier wieder toll in Szene gesetzt wurde. Von mir gibt es 4 Sterne für dieses kurzweilige Vergnügen.

Ahoy there me mateys! Those who have been aboard for a while know that urban fantasy and I are not usually friends. In fact we tend to be enemies. I can't explain why. It's just a truth. And yet recently I loved the DFZ series.
Then when I was perusing me Goodreads' ports for plunder list to find something that fit me mood, the First Mate told me to scroll back up to see what had a caught his eye. Apparently his unconscious mind was finding me the perfect book because I adored slouch witch. I loved it so much that the next day I binged these next two books in the trilogy and the bonus novella. Seriously I never really do that and for an UF series no less! I took me longer to find time to write this combined review then to gobble up the books.
Though I try to post no spoilers, this be for the rest of a series and so read ahead at yer own peril . . .
So after the events of book one, Ivy just wants her life back to normal. However, when she is offered a job on the set of her favorite reality series, of course she takes it. The second book has Ivy assigned as a PA (production assistant) to help solve a murder that involves magic. Now as far as film and film sets work, this book isn't really realistic at all. This book was so silly and ridiculous that I kept rolling me eyes. I kept reading though because I just love Ivy and her awesome cat Brutus. Ivy is just so funny. The plot wasn't completely the point. The relationship drama was a bit dumb too. The solution for who-dun-it wasn't a surprise. But again Ivy and Brutus win. I was entertained enough to immediately pick up the next book.
Book three was excellent fun and much better than the middle book. Ivy's time on set not only kicked her butt but also had an unintentional magical side-effect that I can't share cause of spoilers. Ivy finds herself drawn into yet another murder mystery. Brutus is awesome. This investigation unfolds very nicely. The complications involved are so funny and there were unexpected events all over the place. The romance still stays in the background while evolving well. I absolutely loved how this series wrapped up. Seriously delightful. Especially the epilogue. I am so glad I read it and would gush more but can't cause of spoilers.
Then there comes a bonus novella that is a holiday story set after the series is over. There is a missing Christmas tree artifact that if not found signals very bad things. So Ivy has to find it. I really enjoyed getting to see Ivy and Winter settled into their new life routine and what Ivy's role has become in the magical world. And of course Brutus rocks. I am glad I read this.

In this super fun Christmas Novella, Winter is incredibly busy running the world... or they're part of it. Following Ivy as she desperately tries to find out who stole the Orders Christmas tree, all the while dodging order members determined to get her involved in order... things. This was fun and exactly what I needed. I just wish I could get a physical copy of this for my shelves!

Auch wenn ich bei so kurzen Büchern immer etwas traurig bin, dass sie eben so kurz sind, hat mich das hier diesmal nicht so sehr gestört.
Eine super schöne kleine Geschichte für zwischendurch durch die ich dann doch noch etwas in der Welt verweilen konnte.

Diese Reihe sollte euch bekannt vorkommen, zumindest, wenn ihr diesen Blog schon länger verfolgt. Während der Covid-Lockdowns habe ich manchmal stundenlange Spaziergänge gemacht und mich dabei mit allen möglichen Hörbüchern zugedröhnt. Und eines davon war die "Hex Files"-Reihe, gesprochen von der einzig wahren Yesim Meisheit, die unter anderem wegen dieser Reihe eine meiner absoluten Lieblingssprecher:innen geworden ist.
Dieses Buch ist nun ein weihnachtlicher Ergänzungsband. Muss man nicht lesen, um die restliche Reihe zu verstehen, ist aber definitiv ein nettes Ad-on, wenn man nochmal ein bisschen in die Geschichte eintauchen will.
Ivy, die faulste Hexe der Welt, macht sich hier auf die Suche nach gestohlenem Weihnachtsschmuck. Findet sie ihn nicht, wird ein uralter Fluch sie alle dahinraffen. Durch einen Vulkanausbruch, durch eine tödliche Krankheit, was denn genau passiert, weiß niemand so wirklich sicher. Die Auflösung, was denn nun mit dem Weihnachtsschmuck passiert ist, ist dann super süß und war für mich stimmig. Trotzdem war sie für mich eine Überraschung. Auch wenn ich den Täter (oder die Täterin?) selbst schnell erraten habe, wäre ich auf das Motiv sicher nicht von alleine gekommen.
Auch dieser allerletzte Band war wieder sehr lustig. Unter anderem natürlich auch wieder wegen dem sprechenden Kater Brutus, dessen "Miststück" mich jedes Mal wieder zum Lachen bringt.
Mein Fazit? Eine schöne Ergänzung der Reihe für die Weihnachtszeit!

The Lazy Girl's Guide to Magic series was one of my favourite new-to-me finds from 2018. However, I didn't have time to finish all the books in the series; there was still this book left. So, when I landed on Kick Ass Lane for romanceopoly it gave me the perfect opportunity to pick the novella Sparkle Witch up.I finished this at the beginning of March, so it was odd to read a Christmas novella with spring just around the corner, however, that didn't stop me. No matter what the season it's hard not to enjoy 60 pages of my favourite lazy witch's shenanigans. This was a fun romp with minimum danger, but maximum fun, however, I wouldn't recommend reading this unless you've read the rest of the series. And, if you haven't read this series then you definitely need to start.
As far as I know this is the last book in the Lazy Girl's Guide to Magic series, I don't know if Helen Harper plans to release more. If it is then this was a cute full stop to this series, although I will miss Ivy, Winter and of course Brutus the foul mouthed familiar.

C'était bref, mais on retrouve ce qui fait le sel de la série. La nouvelle offre de quoi prolonger un peu le plaisir et on quitte les personnages avec une belle touche de mignonitude.

"Hex Files" ist eine Reihe, die ich unglaublich gerne gelesen habe. Locker, leicht, interessant, magisch und sehr humorvoll, deswegen habe ich mich sehr gefreut, zwar kurz, aber immerhin nochmal etwas von Ivy und Winter zu lesen. Für knapp 60 Seiten kann man keine ausgeklügelte Geschichte erwarten, aber ich hatte auf jeden Fall einen kurzweiligen Spaß. Es ist perfekt für die Weihnachtszeit, mit einer cozy Stimmung, Tannenbäumen, Schnee, Engeln und Weihnachtskugeln. Besonders gut hat mir natürlich auch gefallen, dass wir als Leser*innen noch mehr kleine Details erfahren, was nach dem Ende von Band 3 geschehen ist, wie die beiden arbeiten, was sie machen, wie sie sich als Paar weiterentwickelt haben und Brutus, Ivys Kater liebe ich natürlich auch.
Wer die Reihe geliebt hat, erhält hier auf jeden Fall eine schöne Ergänzung, die in der Weihnachtszeit angesiedelt ist. Ich vergebe 4/5⭐ und habe jetzt richtig große Lust wieder in die "Rachel Morgan" Reihe einzutauchen, die thematisch sehr ähnlich wie die "Hex Files" Reihe ist.
Wer die Reihe geliebt hat, erhält hier auf jeden Fall eine schöne Ergänzung, die in der Weihnachtszeit angesiedelt ist. Ich vergebe 4/5⭐ und habe jetzt richtig große Lust wieder in die "Rachel Morgan" Reihe einzutauchen, die thematisch sehr ähnlich wie die "Hex Files" Reihe ist.

This will be a short review, because it is a very short book. I'll admit, I was hoping for more, because I really loved the original trilogy (reviews to come soon). The series starts with Slouch Witch. This was just a bit of fun, short and sweet. It was a bit cheesy too - I guess I should have read it at Christmas time, but I figured Ivy Wilde is good any time.
"There will be mistletoe. There will be snuggles. There will not be evil witches causing curse-filled mishaps and interrupting our holiday."
There was nowhere near enough Winter for my liking. Ivy definitely did not get to be lazy enough, but she does do a good job of delegating to all the witches who will do just about anything for the 'Ipsissimus' main squeeze', and she does a not so good job of delegating to the ghosts. Yep, the ghosts were still great. Ivy seemed a bit more silly this time around, well I suppose it is the silly season, and Brutus is up to his usual antics.
"How do I know my cat is plotting to kill me? His damn name is Brutus and he’ll stab me in the back the second I’m not looking."
Overall, I would have liked a bit more from this, it didn’t quite feel the same as the original trilogy, but still fun.

What a sweet little taste of Winter and Ivy's HEA.
Very Christmasy without being cloying. All the characters are at their best.
Even Tarquin's asshattery didn't rub me the wrong way but was just amusing.
Lots of sweet moments of heat and tenderness between Winter and Ivy. But Ivy is the star and the story is hers... and her cat's ; )
A magical star goes missing from the Order's Christmas tree. Now everyone wonders if the curse attached to the star will come true...
Not really a stand-a-lone as it references a lot of characters, assuming you are already acquainted.
Hope there will be another in the series!

Inhalt:
Die faulste Hexe der Welt, Weihnachtsfeiern, ein Weihnachts-Schmuck-Raub und andere Katastrophen
Man sollte meinen, dass Ivy die Weihnachtszeit mit einem warmen Kakao auf einem weichen Sofa gemütlich und entspannt begehen wird. Allerdings hat sie da noch nicht mit übermotivierten Kolleg:innen gerechnet, die sie zu Weihnachtsfeiern einladen wollen - und ganz sicher hat sie nicht damit gerechnet, dass der Diebstahl von Weihnachtsschmuck zu einer riesigen Feiertagskatastrophe führen könnte ...
Meinung:
Das Cover finde ich wieder toll. Ich liebe alle Cover der Reihe und hier sieht es schon so richtig weihnachtlich aus.
Der Schreibstil der Autorin war wieder grandios. Sie schreibt witzig und so bildlich, dass ich mir alles sehr gut vorstellen kann. Hier liest man wieder aus Sicht von Ivy.
Ivy ist immer noch faul und als sie ein paar Dinge übernehmen soll, wie etwa Weihnachtsmann spielen, kommt es ihr gerade recht, dass eine Engelsfigur entwendet wurde, die sie suchen kann.
Normalerweise bin ich kein Fan von Kurzgeschichten, aber diese musste ich einfach lesen, es geht schließlich um meine Lieblingshexe. Das Buch hat nur knapp 50 Seiten, was wirklich nicht viel ist, trotzdem hat es die Autorin geschafft, wieder eine grandiose Geschichte zu schreiben.
Winter hat nicht wirklich viele Auftritte, nur am Anfang und am Ende, aber er fehlt hier gar nicht. Ivy rockt das auch ganz allein. Sie ist immer noch faul und versucht so wenig wie möglich selbst zu machen, das kommt in der Novelle wieder sehr gut rüber.
Hauptsächlich geht es um einen Weihnachtsengel, der gestohlen wurde. Wird er nicht gefunden droht eine große Katastrophe, also macht sich Ivy auf die Suche. Das erinnert sehr an den ersten Band der Reihe, aber hier wird alles abgekürzt und durch lustige Gespräche etwas verharmlost. Es ist also garantiert, dass man lachen muss, zumindest war es bei mir so.
Wo der Engel ist, war mir aber schon von Anfang an klar, da gabs nämlich eine Szene, die den entscheidenden Hinweis geliefert hat. Sehr mysteriös war das ganze nicht, aber man spürt die weihnachtliche Stimmung und das Buch nimmt sich selber auch nicht zu ernst.
Das Ende hat mir echt gut gefallen, die Auflösung wurde nochmal sehr schön beschrieben und ich hab alles an dem Buch gemocht. Vor allem Brutus, aber das ist eh klar.
Fazit:
Ich finde die Novelle ist eine tolle Ergänzung zur eigentlichen Reihe und passt perfekt in diese Jahreszeit. Man muss sie natürlich nicht zu Weihnachten lesen, so macht es aber noch mehr Spaß.

Man sollte meinen, dass Ivy die Weihnachtszeit mit einem warmen Kakao auf einem weichen Sofa gemütlich und entspannt begehen wird. Allerdings hat sie da noch nicht mit übermotivierten Kolleg:innen gerechnet, die sie zu Weihnachtsfeiern einladen wollen - und ganz sicher hat sie nicht damit gerechnet, dass der Diebstahl von Weihnachtsschmuck zu einer riesigen Feiertagskatastrophe führen könnte ...
Meinung:
Das Cover finde ich wieder toll. Ich liebe alle Cover der Reihe und hier sieht es schon so richtig weihnachtlich aus.
Der Schreibstil der Autorin war wieder grandios. Sie schreibt witzig und so bildlich, dass ich mir alles sehr gut vorstellen kann. Hier liest man wieder aus Sicht von Ivy.
Ivy ist immer noch faul und als sie ein paar Dinge übernehmen soll, wie etwa Weihnachtsmann spielen, kommt es ihr gerade recht, dass eine Engelsfigur entwendet wurde, die sie suchen kann.
Normalerweise bin ich kein Fan von Kurzgeschichten, aber diese musste ich einfach lesen, es geht schließlich um meine Lieblingshexe. Das Buch hat nur knapp 50 Seiten, was wirklich nicht viel ist, trotzdem hat es die Autorin geschafft, wieder eine grandiose Geschichte zu schreiben.
Winter hat nicht wirklich viele Auftritte, nur am Anfang und am Ende, aber er fehlt hier gar nicht. Ivy rockt das auch ganz allein. Sie ist immer noch faul und versucht so wenig wie möglich selbst zu machen, das kommt in der Novelle wieder sehr gut rüber.
Hauptsächlich geht es um einen Weihnachtsengel, der gestohlen wurde. Wird er nicht gefunden droht eine große Katastrophe, also macht sich Ivy auf die Suche. Das erinnert sehr an den ersten Band der Reihe, aber hier wird alles abgekürzt und durch lustige Gespräche etwas verharmlost. Es ist also garantiert, dass man lachen muss, zumindest war es bei mir so.
Wo der Engel ist, war mir aber schon von Anfang an klar, da gabs nämlich eine Szene, die den entscheidenden Hinweis geliefert hat. Sehr mysteriös war das ganze nicht, aber man spürt die weihnachtliche Stimmung und das Buch nimmt sich selber auch nicht zu ernst.
Das Ende hat mir echt gut gefallen, die Auflösung wurde nochmal sehr schön beschrieben und ich hab alles an dem Buch gemocht. Vor allem Brutus, aber das ist eh klar.
Fazit:
Ich finde die Novelle ist eine tolle Ergänzung zur eigentlichen Reihe und passt perfekt in diese Jahreszeit. Man muss sie natürlich nicht zu Weihnachten lesen, so macht es aber noch mehr Spaß.

Ivy ist wieder da! Und mit ihr natürlich Brutus und ihr Mr. Winter. Diesmal geht es um Weihnachten und, wie ihr euch schon denken könnt, wird es wieder chaotisch.
Der wichtige Weihnachtsengel für den Weihnachtsbaum wurde gestohlen und alle sind in heller Aufruhr, denn das Ding ist auch noch verflucht. Tja, und an wen wenden sich alle? Genau, unsere Ivy Wilde. Die hat da natürlich nicht so Bock drauf, aber als sie hört, dass ein Fluch auf dem Engel lasten soll, ist sie dabei und fängt an zu deligieren.
Eine wundervolle Kurzgeschichte über das Leben nach den Abenteuern. Ich brauche eindeutig mehr davon! Schon allein wegen Brutus. Sollte ich meine Katze vielleicht umbenennen? Jedenfalls finde ich diesen Kater einfach überragend zum Schießen...
Wer Hex Files gelesen hat, muss auch dieses Abenteuer lesen.

Rezension: (kann Spoiler enthalten)
Diese Novelle war super süß. Die Geschichte war recht kurzweilig und weihnachtlich und für mich hat es als Ergänzung zur Reihe echt gut gepasst. Es war schön, nochmal einen Eindruck zu bekommen, wie es nach den Ereignissen in der Trilogie eigentlich weitergeht. Und Ivy war mal wieder typisch Ivy, deshalb war es auch durchaus lustig.
Ich hätte gerne ein wenig mehr von der Reihe, aber in jedem Falle war es doch schön, noch einmal zurückzukehren, auch wenn eine solche Geschichte im Hochsommer vielleicht keine so passende Idee war😂

Auch wenn es etwas spät ist, habe ich mir doch noch die Weihnachtskurzgeschichte von Hex Files gegönnt, weil ich mal etwas leichtere und witzige Kost brauchte.
Wie immer enttäuscht Ivy den Leser nicht, denn die faulste Hexe der Welt bringt mich mit ihrem chaotischen Wesen und den verrückten Ideen und Gedanken immer wieder zum Lachen.
Definitiv eine schöne Kurzgeschichte mit einem zuckersüßen Ende <3

Ivy ist inzwischen eine große Nummer unter den Hexen, nicht so groß, wie Winter, aber ihr außergewöhnliches Talent hat sich schon rumgesprochen. Bei Fragen und Problemen sucht man sie schon auch mal auf. Als der Engel, der eigentlich die Spitze des Weihnachtsbaums schmücken sollte, spurlos verschwindet, wird Ivy mit der Suche danach beauftragt. Die Panik ist groß, denn der Verlust des Engels bedeutet das Auslösen eines Fluch, der Tod und Verderben über die Hexen bringen wird.
Diese kurze Geschichte ist genau, wie die Reihe davor. Es war so schön, wieder mit Ivy, Brutus und Winter abzuhängen :D Wie nachhause kommen!
Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist einfach unglaublich lustig und intelligent. Die Figuren sind toll geschrieben und man fühlt sich immer wohl mit ihnen. Brutus ist der Beste.
Der Fall, den Ivy zu lösen hat, ist wieder mal kreativ und spannend. Die Dynamik zwischen den Figuren macht Spaß und die Art, wie Ivy die Dinge angeht, ist schön zu verfolgen. Die Auflösung ist perfekt und hat mir ein aufrichtiges „aaaaaww“ entlockt :)
Es ist eine perfekte Ergänzung und bringt weihnachtliche Stimmung mit. Diese Reihe könnte meinetwegen noch 20 Fortsetzungen rausbringen. Ich würde sie alle lesen!

Helen Harper hat mit ihren Hex Files ein spannendes und lustiges Universum, um die faulste Hexe Englands und den sexy Ordenshexer geschaffen. Die drei Hauptstories habe ich mit einmal weggehört (Ja, ein Hörbuch!) und auch die Zusatzgeschichte ist auf den Punkt lustig.
