Chiho has collapsed, and Maou and company have figured out that it must be the work of an Angel. The only thing left to figure out is whether they're holed up in Tokyo Tower or the Sky Tree. When the group finally finds whoever's responsible for hurting their friend, the ultimate Maou/Alciel combo is going to paint the town red!
While the shopping adventure continues we see Rika Suzuki double down on her feelings as she is more sure than ever that there is something special about Ashiya (how right she is.) Though when something strange leads to the display televisions in the store to all flash white and burst the crews shopping trip is at an end as they return home while discussing the strange event just to discover the news that Chiho is unconscious at the hospital. One thing leads to another as Emi discovers some potentially life altering news about her family and everyone learns that something big is happening putting the heaven's on high alert.
Thus it appears this volume finishes up volume 5 of the light novel for those following such details (as is explained at the end of the book since I don't read many myself) so I hope everyone is having fun on the ride no matter which format you decide to follow these interesting character's lives. :)
I was conflicted about this one. There's only 4 chapters. And frankly... there's filler in between. The amount of story and the art is good, but the filler was unnecessary and I felt like it only existed to make the page count requirement.
Rika was such a cool character. I hope she'll show up more often. I love Maou, Ashiya and Lucifer, as always but emi & alas, meh. Pass. Not a fan. Also chiho was so amazing in the last chapter of the vol., I hope they'll explore that more but probably not, yeah? Sigh.
Maou and Alciel attempt to purchase a TV, but when Chi falls sick and TV sets start breaking across the city, they discover a new wrinkle in the war in heaven and their friends' roles in it.
Re-read: May 2020 Still not my favorite volume, but I liked it a lot more this time! I loved the first chapter (Rika was so funny and adorable!) and really enjoyed the second one. However, I'm keeping my rating at 3 stars since I only liked the last half of the book. It set up some interesting things though, so I'm hopeful for the next few volumes.
Original Review I hope the series doesn't continue to get worse. I really wasn't feeling this volume, though I'm not sure why. I think it may be because there were less character interactions and more action. I really like the characters in this series and they usually make up for the sometimes-dull plot. I'm certainly planning on continuing with the series since I'm still very invested in the characters, but I hope this arc gets more interesting. I think it has a lot of promise, but it just wasn't executed well in this volume. I have high hopes!
