Obviously Dave has a lot of knowledge to pass on, and spent a lot of time involved in writing these books. I thank him for his dedication. But as a person who is a total lay person in bush craft, a complete beginner with no detailed knowledge of the craft, these books lack the details and deep explanations of the "how to's" of bush craft. The explanations and illustrations leave me missing a lot of information still in how to actually perform the steps to accomplish the bush craft techniques; leaving a lot of missing information so I really do not understand what Dave is trying to explain to me. You really have to have basic knowledge of bush craft already to understand his "how to" explanations, these are not beginner books. I will have to purchase other books to understand Dave's books completely.

Does not substitute for hands on training

The is something go be said for learning it in real life. Again, another good reference book in the series and i know the goal here is to give a brief overview of the vast topic of wilderness first aid. Main gripe is that is not universal enough when it comes to the plants for medicinal use. I would recommend getting a book in local plants in your area/country and also go talk go a botanist.
I would recommend this book with caveat that a few more books will be needed in order to be properly useful and was i said in the beginning, this book is not a website for hands in training not to i believe that Dave wants you to go of the without proper training.
Happy hiking.

I thought these guides were great for beginners. Were they a little less bulky, I might even consider putting them in my kit. Great for anyone just getting into Bushcraft, bug out/go bags, or just camping in general.

Lots of info. Comprehensive. Could use more diagrams and or pictures. I needed to do further research on the net to clarify many things. But a great staring point.
