A uniquely green principal named Mr. Bundy runs PS 88 in this funny fairy tale take-off that launches QUIX, a new line of fun-to-read short chapter books that are perfect for emerging readers!
When Marty Q. Marvel the magician accidentally turns Mr. Bundy into a frog, the students of PS 88 don't know what to do. It's not always easy having a slimy, green-skinned amphibian for a principal, especially when Mr. Bundy starts playing leapfrog in the gym, swimming in the kindergarten sink, and eating the students' bug collections! Will Mr. Bundy ever be his old self again?

The new QUIX series by Aladdin is an excellent early transitional reader series. The large text, bold illustrations and quick chapters make it easy and fun to read. The post-script information with word lists and comprehension questions make them wonderful classroom or book club reads.
Our Principal is a Frog is a silly story that children ages 5-8 will love. Mr. Bundy gets turned into a frog by a not so magical magician that can't turn him back. He decides he can still be the principal if he can just convince the kids to let him. The story does a quick overview of the joys and challenges Mr. Bundy faces as frog principal. My seven year old saw it in the mail, snagged it and didn't want to put it down. She thought it was funny and entertaining and can see how it will go over incredibly well with this age group.
I am prereading children’s literature before handing it off to my children. I am quite picky. Sometimes, I take out the fluff that doesn’t really add any deep enrichment, but mostly, I am just weeding out anything inappropriate for young children that might’ve snuck in.
I was attracted to the playful, silly nature of this title and cover because I have a 9 year old boy. I do think he is aging away from the format of this book, so I plan to have him read this one this week. I found nothing wrong with it and only noted that the principal is turned into a frog through a magician’s magic (the kind that pulls rabbits out of hats), if that matters to anyone.
It has large font, wide spacing, and is 40 pages long with pictures on every page, or nearly every page.
2/15/2021 ~ A new addition to the world of transitional chapter books. There is humor, and some students will enjoy this. However, the characterization of the children is really flat, almost making them cardboard cut-outs.
Also, I was offended by the stereotypes implicit in the "Cast of Characters" - the names of the children (with culturally specific last names) and descriptions of their traits/strengths.
Cute chapter book that is simple to read and perfect for beginning readers! Lots of hilarity and fun when Principal Bundy is accidentally turned into a frog. This one will have your little one giggling uncontrollably. Highly recommend!
I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
41 pages. A VERY funny and cute story. While a principal is considering using a local magician at a special school assembly …he is accidentally turned into a frog! Short, fun story for Grades 2-4. Kids will love this one! Highly recommended.
I loved the character list, the question list and the vocabulary list. “Our Principal is a Frog” would be great for beginning chapter book readers and for read alouds. (However, I wasn’t a big fan of the second story - about fairies. It wasn’t as funny or appealing to a wide audience.)
