Karen and Addie are elected to the safety patrol. Karen is so proud to wear her badge and help keep the halls safe. But uh-oh. Things are being stolen all over the school. Can Karen and Addie catch the thieves?
Ann Matthews Martin was born on August 12, 1955. She grew up in Princeton, New Jersey, with her parents and her younger sister, Jane. After graduating from Smith College, Ann became a teacher and then an editor of children's books. She's now a full-time writer.
Ann gets the ideas for her books from many different places. Some are based on personal experiences, while others are based on childhood memories and feelings. Many are written about contemporary problems or events. All of Ann's characters, even the members of the Baby-sitters Club, are made up. But many of her characters are based on real people. Sometimes Ann names her characters after people she knows, and other times she simply chooses names that she likes.
Ann has always enjoyed writing. Even before she was old enough to write, she would dictate stories to her mother to write down for her. Some of her favorite authors at that time were Lewis Carroll, P. L. Travers, Hugh Lofting, Astrid Lindgren, and Roald Dahl. They inspired her to become a writer herself.
Since ending the BSC series in 2000, Ann’s writing has concentrated on single novels, many of which are set in the 1960s.
After living in New York City for many years, Ann moved to the Hudson Valley in upstate New York where she now lives with her dog, Sadie, and her cats, Gussie, Willy and Woody. Her hobbies are reading, sewing, and needlework. Her favorite thing to do is to make clothes for children.
I really appreciate how this book didn't shy away from showing that girl bullies are Mean and Dangerous. They WOULD threaten to beat up Karen and Addie! So they did! And I think a lot of kids' books for this age group don't go that hard or that realistic, so it stuck out in a positive way.
Karen is badass in this novel. Not gonna make a long review but seriously this is my favorite.
Get ready, because Karen goes old school and gets ready to solve a mystery.
Someone is stealing items from students desks and it’s up to Karen and Addie to find out who the culprit is before it’s too late.
What I liked about this novel is that Karen uses her wits and actually acts mature for once. I would give this five stars but then again Karen is Karen. Actually way better then the last review though.
I laughed and awed when I got my hands on this book and the cover is so badass. Great way to show the story.
Karen and Addie try to set up a trap for the culprits and boy was that a good move. It’s like detective tag bust team in here!
And Karen is the Nancy Drew! Addie can be...Scooby Doo.
I LOVED THIS SO MUCH.
You know what Junie B. Jones needs her own school mystery to solve because that would have been even way more badass.
This will be my favorite out of all the books in this series because well...it feels cool. The second one I liked was “Karen’s Bus” but besides that all the others are just meh.
There was one “Karen’s Babysitter” that I did a long rant on. Let me tell you it wasn’t really pretty. Who knows I might reread this IF I see it and then I will add on to this review.
Anyway time to spill the juice....
Who is it?
It’s two girls that Addie and Karen catch in a trap. Of course they get caught and have to apologize for what they did.
The ending...I forgot but it is definitely a good one!
I LOVED THIS!
Can I please have my own school mystery to solve now?

This was fun. Good story about dealing with bullies (tough when you're I'm 2nd grade and they're in 5th) and finding the courage to do what's right even when you're scared and even when it may mean people won't like you.
