Three fabulous romance writers come together in this sizzling volume of stories about Southern bad boy gentlemen who are hotter than the Georgia asphalt.
It's bad enough that Hollywood hotshot Sloan Hawthorne's knowledge of Roxi Dupree's witchcraft comes from comic books and fairy tales. What's worse is that she's falling hard for the outrageously sexy hunk. Pretty soon they're both finding that the steamy Savannah nights are perfect for conjuring up some mischievous magic of their own...
It's what Tracy does best, people-please and generally overwork the word 'yes'. But in love and life it's gotten her nowhere. Tracy's had enough - no more 'yes.' From here on out it's all about her. Colson Jones, hot-eyed and very determined, wants it to be all about her - and he's pretty sure that Tracy will be saying 'yes' again very soon...
Librarian Janie Mills has never hit a man before, but when the lights go out and the town's leading citizen - now missing for two days - points a gun at her, she doesn't think twice about slugging him. Only when the electricity comes back, she finds an entirely different man on at her feet - P.I. Ryan Peterson. Pretty soon this is one case he's definitely on top of...
New York Times bestselling author JoAnn Ross has written over a hundred novels for a bunch of publishers. Two of her titles have been excerpted in Cosmo and her books have also been published by the Doubleday, Rhapsody, Literary Guild, and Mystery Guild book clubs.
A member of the Romance Writers of America's Honor Roll of best-selling authors, she's won several awards, including Romantic Times's Career Achievement Awards in both category and contemporary single title.
Currently writing a new Honeymoon Harbor series for HQN set on the Washington peninsula, that will launch in April, 2018, JoAnn lives with her husband (her high school sweetheart, who proposed at the sea wall where her Shelter Bay books are set), in the Pacific Northwest.
"Southern Style" is hardly correct seeing as the main male character in one of the stories is from Chicago. This book left me wondering why anyone would even bother to put out a book like this.
Love Potion #9 by JoAnn Ross This is the first story in the book, and it's all about magic and witches and whatnot. I know a lot about magic and witches, this story left me confused. Other than throwing in magic and witches for color, they did not enhance the story. I'd say the story would have fared better had that been taken out. I have a feeling I won't be reading much by this author. This story gets 1/5 stars.
Midnight Plane to Georgia by E.C. Sheedy This story reads like a trip to the Gyno. No joke. All the talk about vulvas is unsexy. It completely takes away from the story itself, which would be decent - if it hadn't left me thinking more about my Gyno than the story itself. The plot was all right, but the author should have had someone else write the sex scenes for her. Oh, and when the man in the story is from Chicago, and the woman is from Seattle - just cause they hook up in Georgia doesn't make this story "Southern Style". This story gets 1/5 stars.
Fall From Grace by Jill Shalvis This story I loved. It had a real plot! Given the shortness of the story, the author did right with having the characters only hook up once. It felt more "real" than any of the other ones. And how she managed to throw in a murder, a crossdresser and gay lover's quarrel on top of that, is pure amazing. This book is saved by Jill Shalvis' story. I'll be looking for more by this author. This story gets 4/5 stars.
The only reason I even give this book 2/5 stars is the last story. Not sure why they dubbed this "bad boys" as none of these characters are "bad". Sexy, hot men; yes. Bad; nope. The title is really misleading.
i have only read 1 out of 3 of the stories i read "fall from grace" it is such a cute story. I sometime do not like it when people fall in love in one day in a romance because it does not give the plot time to develop but "fall from grace" is good even with the fast falling

Heather's Notes I am not sure why this book is called bad boys, none of these boys were bad. They stories weren't bad but they weren't what I expected. I didn't really care for "Midnight Plane" was my least favorite. My favorite was the first story "Love Potion #9". The last story "Fall from Grace" was good but too quick and left a lot of unanswered questions.
Since this is a reread I only read Fall from Grace by Jill Shalvis. I did read the book back when it came out and enjoyed the stories for what they are. For this review, I'm only talking about Shalvis' story.
I really enjoyed Fall from Grace. It's a quick read with a hero and heroine you'll really enjoy. I will say that you don't get to know them that much personally but it's not that big of a deal since I think you'll enjoy the story so much. It's only about 83 pages but the author packs a lot into those pages.
I found the story to have both humor and suspense. You aren't sure what's going on or why. It's the perfect blend. Blog | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram
eh....if all of them were a full book and less rushed they would've been great. Plots would've been explained better, the chemistry between the characters would've developed better. As of now it's just eh. Nothing too bad but could've been better.
I've got several of these "Bad Boys" anthologies but this is the first one I have read so far, nor have I read any stories by any of the 3 authors. I could only give it 3 stars overall but the first and last stories were more like 4-star.
Love Potion # 9 by Joann Ross ... is about a witch Roxi and movie director Sloan who share the same erotic dreams. When Sloan sees Roxi in his friend's wedding photos and is told about her, he pursues her in the flesh. Roxi has commitment issues and this *3 Date rule* which I found just a little too difficult to believe; if in the real world if this sexual dynamo on two legs was romantically pursuing me .... I'd walk away from my book collection for him - no problems! A girl can always buy more books!!!
Midnight Plane To Georgia by E.C. Sheedy ... was the let-down for me. There was nothing wrong with the writing or style (in fact all 3 stories were well written and set). The main character Tracy Mae Allson couldn't say "no" to people and had been walk-over and taken for granted all her life. She tries to put her personal life in order by helping out her uncle start up a B&B together on the other side of the country. While waiting at the airport Tracy Mae locks eyes with workaholic Colson Jones who is on a week’s down-time and sparks fly BIG-TIME! Well, they do have some steamy ""hide the southern salami"" scenes but I wasn't convinced that after a life of trying to please everyone in her life that she was finally able to say "no" and resist this hunk of a man.... I tell you the girl's got it all backwards - it's say "NO NO NO" to your family and "YES YES, OH GOD YES" to the half-naked man trying to sweet-talk you into bed. Thank god Colson was persistent.
Fall from Grace by Jill Shalvis .... this story is, in my opinion, the best in this anthology. After an encounter in the library after hours and the lights go out, Janie Mills is surprised to find the gorgeous man she just clobbered with a dictionary is not who she thought. Private Investigator Ryan Patrick is demanding to who the frightened bombshell is and why she is wants to beat him senseless, and where is his missing client? .... and every time she (Hot-damm! Tackled by a sexy hunk in the library after hours – which library? And when can I join!) Ryan and Janie make a great team. Ryan is sexy and in control and Janie is vulnerable but strong. There are some surprises, hot passion and thrilling getaway's in Fall From Grace. It's a great story and is the fastest paced of the 3!
The first story was my least favorite. It has obvious backstory that is not given to the reader, the main characters leap into sex with mild kink within minutes of meeting. There are supernatural overtones but not really explained (weird shared dreams before they meet). It would probably have been better as a full length novel where the author could have fleshed out some of the details. The other two stories were far better. Of course, I just like Jill Shalvis so I would probably like her story no matter what :)
"Librarian Janie Mills has never hit a man before, but when the lights go out and the town's leading citizen - now missing for two days - points a gun at her, she doesn't think twice about slugging him. I absolutely could NOT get into the first story, something about it was so convoluted. I tried 3 different times, almost "returned" this library book, then remembered that the other two stories were by different authors.
I completely gave up on the first story and enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd stories.
Were it not for that 1st story, i would have rated this 4 stars.
What threw me on this one is that we started off with a paranormal story, and I kept expecting it. Guess I should have read the description huh? I truthfully want to give this one 2 stars because it begins strong then just DROPS and struggles till the end.
Finished it tonight. The stories were okay, but nothing to rush out and get. Definitely not like any of the other "bad boys" books. http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/5...
Of the three novellas, I only liked Jill Shalvis' Fall From Grace. And even that felt completely rushed. The other two stories couldn't hold my attention.
