I loved these graphic novels when I was younger, and honestly loved them just as much rereading them now! The illustrations are gorgeous and then story is so fun for all ages.

The W.I.T.C.H. series was published in volume format in the Swedish translation from 2003 and forward, I was reading them as they were being published - as a young teen myself, and loving every second of it. The same way people look fondly of their time reading super hero comics as young readers, I think of this series and the excitement I felt upon each new volume being released.

When I saw that Yen Press had re-released the first few volumes, and had plans for 2018 to release the rest, I was t

Rereading my favorite childhood comics because I've never actually finished the story and I want to have the full experience from an adult's perspective. So far, I am enjoying it a lot more than I hoped to, brings back so many memories... Might re-watch the cartoon as well.

This series has been one of my favourite comics for as long as I can remember and no matter how old I get it will always have a special place in my heart. I am so happy these new editions exist; they're gorgeous.

Very happy for this rerelease, and really looking forward to the story arcs I never had a chance to read! The art alone makes this series worth it.

One of the very first graphic novel series that i got into. It's a magical comic that perfectly captures the ups and downs of being a preteen/teenager. We follow 5 girls as they go through school, crushes, and parents. Plus the ocassional villain along the way.

I like that the series created a rich mythology of its own without needing to resort to direct references to classical stories. It gives originality. I enjoyed adventuring in the different worlds shown and Heatherfield seems like a city I

So much nostalgia for a series of comics I originally picked up in Dutch years ago. And don't get me wrong, I still love it, along with the girls! But a lot more comes to my attention and is clearer this time around, so consider some opinions changed

5 stars - it was so good to re-read this old favorite. I used to be mildly obsessed with this comic when I was in middle- & high school. I originally read it in dutch as the monthly comics were being released. I think nostalgia may be a big factor in my rating, in reality I think reading this comic book did contribute to my own development and learning to be more confident in my own abilities & learning to control my temper and not isolating myself as much. That being said I also genuine ...more

This comic series is amazing. It's about five middle school girls in the real world who gain magical powers to control the elements and have to fight off evil that comes to their world from different dimensions. Sound familiar? That's because it's basically Sailor Moon, but that's not a bad thing. Though the series is undoubtedly inspired by the phenomenal success of Sailor Moon, it manages to stand on its own and shine.

This comic series is made by Disney

For my past thoughts on this series - a childhood favourite of mine - read:

My The Power of Five (W.I.T.C.H. Chapter Books, #1) review

My The Power of Friendship (W.I.T.C.H. Graphic Novels, #1) review

So Disney is reprinting the original Italian 'W.I.T.C.H.' comics - with three volumes together in a single trade paperback. I am glad this is happening, for it shows that the franchise has not been forgotten about; it has not received any attention in over a decade, though it isn't even twenty-years-o

I have no idea that I would enjoy The W.I.T.C.H. Series again. I used to read this when I was in high school. I love how it jogged my memory on why I love this series so much. Let me tell you some of the reasons. Number 1: the series is diverse. We have an Asian character and an African American character. I know we need characters with disability too and all that, but looking at when this book was originally published, you can say that it was way ahead of its time. The s

I watched the show back in the day. I've tries to track down the comic a few times but there were so many of this little books. And when I'd Google them and get confused. Than I heard about the rerelease.... 2 years late. My book store was holding out on me. They had the first 3 volumes in the kid section. My other bookstore had the next 3. I knew there were differences in the series. The first 6 are the arcs used in the show. The first season is closer to the comics then the second...so I've he ...more

It's so great to relive my youth again with these comics! I'm definitely going to pick up the other volumes asap, and then pick up part 2 as well! Fingers crossed that they're going to release all the W.I.T.C.H. comics that exist, because there are a lot and I've literally only read this first story!

W.I.T.C.H. had such a profound influence on me as a child: it showcased a group of empowered girls who saved the world on a daily basis but still had to deal with the drama of being teenagers. They also had control of the elements, a plot device that I've always liked in any media. When I found out the comic series was going to be rereleased in its entirety, without censors, I knew I wanted to get at least the first couple of volumes and relive this childhood favorite. Reading volume one was suc ...more

This book is incredibly nostalgic for me (since I had watched the animated show when I was younger) and the book did not disappoint! The characters were executed well, with realistic chemistry-building between the friendships and understandable tension that inevitably occurs in our daily relationships, such as with our parents and best friends. There were so many moments that made me smile or tugged at my heart because of how relatable the situations and the characters could be and beca

Hooray for the re-release! Nostalgia all over the place. It’s like rereading Harry Potter for the first time when you are finally reunited with all of your favorite characters. The artwork is stunning in full color, and I wish more graphic novels were published in this book size/format. As the reviews seem to reflect, this is more of a nostalgia binge than anything else, and after the graphic novels stopped being published in English after a point, it is really great getting to see how this arc ...more

This comic series was basically the sole inspiration behind my love of drawing not to mention of course that it was one of the very first reading materials I was obsessed with.
I used to read it in Arabic when I was young and I was disappointed when they stopped translating it. I read it online in English for some time but then I stopped. When I saw that they were reissuing it again in new English editions, you can just imagine my excitement!!

W.I.T.C.H The Graphic Novel, Part 1 The Twelve Portals V1
Plot: This graphic novel covers the four comic book issues Halloween, the Twelve Portals, The Dark Dimension, and the Power of Five. I think I covered some of these individually so I’ll just go through the recap briefly. The Guardians of the Veil decide on their new chosen ones as they look down from Kandracar. Will and her mom move to Heather field. She and another girl Taranee are the new comer’s this year. We find out another girl (Irma

I remember when I was about 10 or 11 and everytime at the start of the month my mom and me went grocery shopping and I was so happy when I spotted the new W.i.t.c.h. Comic in the store. I lvoed the story and the different characters. I even recommended them to my friends at school and they also started to love these comics. This review will be for the first arc (3 volumes). When I heard that Yen Press was going to be giving this series a proper reprint, I was very excited. I first came across this property in the form of the t.v. show that was out in the mid-2000s. I really loved the show (it pushed my magical girl buttons!) so I was looking forward to reading the source material. Overall, it was a very solid and good story. There is one potentially icky thing that happens early on and isn't really addressed again: ...more

I have always been and will forever be obsessed with W.I.T.C.H.

What an absolutely lovable series! W.I.T.C.H. was my life when I was a preteen, and I'm super excited to re-experience it through Yen-Press' new editions. W.I.T.C.H. meshes everyday, middle-school existence (and every horror that comes with that) with magical cross-dimension crime-fighting. How could you go wrong?

The five main girls are incredibly relatable and lovable. They're an accurate representation o

I read these in what would qualify as end of elementary/beginning of middle school, I think, I started when I was 9 years old and at least was obsessed until I was 12. And then? I completely forgot about these comics. Two weeks ago, a Youtube video called “What happened to W.I.T.C.H.?” appeared on my Recommended pages and I was completely hooked again. I ordered the first three volumes (Part I: The Twelve Portals) and am now rereading them in English as I have no idea what happened to my origina ...more
